Noise suppression - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hello. I need your help. The interlocutors hear their own voice with an echo. a feeling that I turned on the loud connection. Can this be cured? Can noise reduction, somehow disable? And how I do not know!
Did the check in the engineering menu, so there checked the top microphone and if, say something, then begins to repeat my voice louder and louder with an echo until you make the speaker volume at minimum.

If you have root, download root explorer and then go to /system/etc/device_features/Sagit.xml
And open it with code editor. Then find the line "enable call noise suppression" if it's true, change it to false, if it's false, change it to true and check if it solves the problem.

She was on the false, and I changed it to true and nothing has changed. As the interlocutor hears his echo, he hears. rolled back to 7 android 9.2.2.0 here everything is fine and no echo is all clear. What I do not understand.

Secondary microphone noise cancelling?

Hello, Im probably buying TP2 and one main features i want is that noice cancelling microphone.
Does it work while in normal calls or just in straight talk mode?
it works only during normal calls and not in handsfree mode.
That's wrong. It works automatically with the speakerphone function. For normal calls you can activate it. There are three settings for normal calls:
"On", "Automatic", and "Off". "On" has constant noise cancellation and will use more CPU and therefore I'm guessing will run down the battery faster. "Automatic" takes a sampling at the beginning of the call and based on that uses one set of noise cancellation for the entire call, which means if you change from a quiet to a noisy environment mid-call it won't help you much. "Off" I'm guessing is self evident. you have to choose the setting before the call is made/answered for it to be of any effect.
This is all in the manual.
thank you much, this helped me lots.
noise cancelling is best feature for some time in phones.

For 6.1:
Start-settings-personal (tab)-phone
Then you'll need to scroll to the right, across the bottom tabs, until you get to the one that says "advanced". The drop-down list with these options will be at the bottom of the options on that tab.

[Q] VOIP - CSipSimple - Echo/Gnex

Many forum members use CSipSimple+GNex, but I have not been able to switch from Sipdroid to CSipSimple due to an echo issue with speaker phone mode.
I am running Stock 4.1.1 with a low-latency patch.
Anyone have some settings they use with CSipSimple so not only normal phone use, but also speaker phone work well without echo problems?
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried the latest version? I was using Sipdroid, and the built in Android SIP function, but the latest version of CSipSimple is outstanding, and better than both. Change to expert mode, and play around with the echo settings in the 'Media' section.
There are tons of options, and you may be able to fix your issues there. Also, try a new codec. Speex works well if you're calling over 4g/3g or you have high latency. What "low latency patch" are you using?

I have the latest Google Play version of CSipSimple, but still experiencing echo issues. Are there any settings you use specifically that I can check against?
Yeh, Speex is the best choice atm for 4g/3g I feel too.
The patch is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777261
It takes the delay from 40ms to 18ms, but this was more critical in ICS, which had a delay of 118ms (?) I believe. I still applied it anyways.
Try turning on "voice audio detection" to on in media settings in CSipSimple to see if it helps.

Mic levels, echo settings, audio routing settings. From what I can tell the problem might be either the Nexus has to sensitive a mic or the audio routing is wrong with the default settings in csipsimple.

Mic amplification : 1.0 (default)
Speaker amplification : 1.0 (default)
Echo Cancellation ON
Echo Mode is set to Speex
Media Quality is set to 4.. which is default.
Voice Audio Detection ON
Codecs : G729 and then GSM. Rest are disabled. I have set "Codec priority list per bandwidth" to off.. so it uses G729/GSM for all cases
I havent touched any settings in Audio Troubleshooting.. "Focus Audio" and "Restart stream when change routing" are on under those settings by default

I have a Nexus 4 and I'm having similar echo problems. The person talking to me hears themselves back with a 1/2 second delay. This goes away as I turn down the speaker volume from the earpiece. In Speakerphone mode its terrible and they can hear every word they say clear as a bell 1/2 second later. I'm going to start messing with the echo settings in expert mode. I have found that all SIP programs Vonage, sipdroid, csipsimple, and grooveIP all have this problem with the Nexus 4. Thankfully Csipsimple has more options for echo on the phone so I'll report back once I figure out what works best.
Update problem fixed on my Nexus 4. I was reading through the csipsimple bug mailing list on this issue, and one of the developers pointed to a possible way of fixing echo that completely fixed it for me.
go to csipsimple google code page in the FAQ go to audio routing troubleshooting.
Basically try the Use Mode API first (which worked for me) and go down the list till your echo is gone. To test your echo I would turn up the earpiece volume all the way and set the mic gain to about half during a call in the settings page. If the other person does not hear echo you should be good.

Pixel 2 XL Speakerphone while in a phone call

Has anyone else noticed that while you're on a phone call. If you place the caller on speakerphone... The callers voice sounds at what you might expect to be 30%-50% of the volume (even after raising speakerphone volume to 100%), the callers voice volume on speakerphone just doesn't sound loud at all, not even at 100% volume.
Is there a fix for this?
Is Google aware?
If anyone can share their thoughts about this, please do.
Had this exact same thought. Haven't yet tested on the November update.

It's the same on Nov. I rooted and installed Viper. Enabled xLoud on Phone Speaker and it's better. Can't understand why Google didn't enable both speakers for phone calls, like they did for media.
It's probably because only the bottom speaker is firing so it's literally half the volume you would expect.

I have the same problem with volume on speaker phone calls. I don't like the idea of a new driver (Viper) that requires root.
Are there any other solutions?
Bump for an issue I've noticed now that i use the speakerphone

LG G7 ThinQ microphone on calls problem!!!

I am having issue with my LG G7 ThinQ, whenever I made or received a phone calls the person who is talking to me is hardly hears my voice but if I change it to loudspeaker the voice is very clear and when I'm calling using the whatsapp calls there would be no problem with my voice at all wheter I am using the loudspeaker or not. I wondering there must be a problem with the software or hardware? Does anybody can help me with this problem?
Happened the same to me. I contacted LG customer service and they changed the microphone with no charge because the device was in warranty.
I also had this problem, others complaining that can not hear me good. For me the fix was disabling in call settings the noise suppression and voi e clarity. ?

Does this fixed the issue?
Yes it did.
I'm facing similar issue. How can I disable noise suppression and voice clarity? Couldn't find it in the settings. I'm using Verizon device with the latest updates.
I thought that my upper mic is dead at first. But then I tested video recording and both mics are working fine. So it seems like it's a software issue?

You just saved me £200. I just bought this phone new from a mate and I thought he f*cked me over and was about to throw it and buy a new phone, because I had tried everything from new ROMs for different regions to screaming at it.
Did what you said, and now people can hear me properly.
Noise suppression on this phone is taking its job too seriously.
I bought 2x of these phones with a tmobile deal. They both suffer the same fate. You have to hold the phone at a perfect angle to your mouth to get it to pick you up. I assume its made this way to eliminate any background noise. I didn't know of the suppression and clarity settings and now that I tested them, I can hold the phone upside down on my ear and the other party can hear me.
It was probably a good idea on paper for this design/feature but it was very frustrating having to correct the angle of my phone to get my voice to work properly.

In call boost to hear callers louder

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to edit the specific mixer path line or lines to boost the volume on the top earpiece so I can hear callers louder. Am on latest Android 10.
Make sure the volume limiter isn't active.
If anything Samsung's are generally too loud.
