Hi all!
Just transferred my phone (LS992) from Sprint to T-mobile. I got it unlocked by Sprint so calls and texts are working. However, data refuses to work and I suspect its the APN settings that is wrong. I tried to add new APNs but everything is greyed out. Can anyone confirm that their LS992 can get data from T-Mobile? All the older fixes seem to not work anymore.

this applies even with an official domestic unlock from Sprint ?
if that's true Sprint is violating FTC rules.

Same Issue - Sprint to Tmobile
I have the same issue a Sprint LG G5 - unlocked by sprint months ago. Went to Tmobile - phone and text works, but no data. Was on the phone with Tmobile and they mentioned if we could only get to be able to put in APN manually we could get it to work. I guess this is Sprint's way of causing heartache to those that leave. Tmobile gave me an LG number to call, but I haven't done that yet.
You could sell this one and pick up one with older firmware off Swappa. I recently got a near-mint G5 for $100 flat.

I had it up in a tab but lost it when I was trying to do something. But I will read through it.
Ok.... I still am not 100% sure as what to do lol. Does the PRL have anything to do with it? I am on sprints towers with straight talk. Cannot change APNs.

You need your MSL to change APNs-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1921045- beyond that I can be of no help because I have never flashed to another carrier

I have already gotten access to my MSL. the getprop ril.MSL didn't work. So I downloaded a APK and it told me what it was. I also got Project X ROM running on my phone. Its WAY better than stock ROM! Loving it so far! This ROM also lets me set new APNs. Stock ROM wouldn't.
But I am not 100% sure as to what PRL should be as well as APN settings.

You do not need root for surfing without wifi. You only need network data enabled and internet connection from your mobile carrier.
And what kind of instruction do you need ?
You just need mobile data enabled. (settings - connection tab - mobile data)
That's it.
You need the same to surf when not in a call also.
No
Short Answer is No. Not until Sprint which I am assuming is your carrier enables VoLTE. We do not have two antennas like GS4, GS3 and a few other sprints phones. Hope that Helps

Thanks. Now i wish i wouldv just stayed with my s3
It might depend on what variant and carrier you use, but I do believe it is possible on the G3. I just gave a call and mobile data a try simultaneously on my unlocked UK 16GB D855 (on Three UK) and it worked. Signal is kinda weak at my house which may explain the data speeds.

Really liking the note4 so far, but i've run into a few small issues. Firstly, Is there a way to modify or create a new APN on this device? The option to create one (the little plus sign) is greyed out and the preset verizon one is unable to be modified. Are these settings that need root to be modified?
Secondly, I've been unable to send MMS messages. I'm thinking this could be related to the apn settings, or not. Just wondering if anyone else came across these issues or knows what I could do. I am able to receive MMS and pictures messages, just not send.
Thanks all!

Hm. I haven't heard of the issue. Maybe a factory reset? I'm not too sure.

When you look at your APN settings (settings->more networks->mobile networks->access point names) are you able to add an apn? when you pick verizon internet (the default in mine and what is shown in the picture in OP) are you able to edit those settings?
Thanks

I did do a factory reset and got MMS working fine, but the apn settings are still unable to be changed. I'm sure they're meant to be that way but was curious.

Hey, if you put another non Verizon sim card, the option to change the APN will become available. I tried putting a t mobile sim in it and it worked =)

Interesting. Could you also post a screenshot of the call settings to show that advanced calling is present? I'm also wondering if your SIM card will eventually cause your current IMEI to show up in your AT&T account? (not sure if that's even possible?)

WHOA. I just checked my call settings to compare, and I have it there as well! It has never been there as long as I've had this phone since July!? Could one of the last two updates added it? That's crazy, but I have it too! When I first received my phone, I had just inserted my SIM card from my HTC 10 and wasn't sure which IMEI my account would recognize.
Whoa, so I didn't even call AT&T but after updating to 1.25, suddenly VoLTE works. I tested by making a call and LTE was still active according to statusbar signal. Also running speedtest during the active call indicated I was actively on AT&T LTE connection (and the speeds themselves didn't lie).
Again, I didn't even call AT&T. Weird, but I'll take it!
Have you all managed to keep VoLTE working on At&T? How about Wifi calling?
I'm asking because i have an HTC 10 that is dying (drains normally to 95% battery, then shuts down and on being plugged in thinks it only has 1% charge, untilt unplugged, replugged, 93%).
I'm looking at either the U11 or the U12, the U11 because it seems like there are fewer issues with rooting it and getting a custom rom on it, but I also see people saying VoLTE isn't working on At&T, so this is something that makes me lean towards the U12 (which it seems might be tougher for rooting and adding a custom rom).
VoLTE definitely works with AT&T on the U12+, but Wi-Fi calling does not.

Thanks, I ended up deciding against the U12+, and went with a Pixel 3 XL, and I'm jumping ship to Fi.
Has anyone been able to enable RCS messaging on T-Mobile in the Google Messages app? When I go to Chat Features under Settings it says: Chat features unavailable for this device. Your carrier does not currently support this feature.
Mine is working perfectly. With T-Mobile. I set the phone up last night.

Thanks for confirming. It was working on my 8 Pro, but I guess you are supposed to disable it on the old phone before sticking the SIM in a new phone. I didn't do that. I disabled it through Google's link, but still not able to enable it on my 9 Pro. I've done everything I can think of besides a factory reset.

I get a new phone every month and I've never had to disable anything on the previous phone to get RCS to work properly. Sometimes it takes a couple hours to finally start working. Also gotta make sure you have any vpn turned off initially as well

Yeah, I'm not sure why it didn't work. I ended up returning the 9 Pro for other reasons and RCS was working again as soon as I put my SIM back in my 8 Pro.
I can confirm RCS does work on T-Mobile. I can't, however, get it to work on my OP 9 Pro. I did disable it on my old 7T, but the SIM in it was deactivated already, so I dunno if that mattered or not.
I've noticed my phone struggles with RCS messages when it goes from 5G to LTE. I have to basically disable data or restart phone and that usually fixes it
