Root question - Moto Z2 Force Questions & Answers

I rooted my phone using Magisk. I want to remove some system apps but it wont let me because r/rw cant be changed, SU can make the changes to allow for me to uninstall, what do I have to do to get SU on my phone? can I just download from playstore and install? do I leave Magisk on the phone or uninstall it??

Install ES File Manager from Google Play, and enable root explorer. There will be an option to set everything to RW if you'd like. You can also uninstall apps via Titanium Backup

[SOLVED]HOW TO remove Adobe Flash from JPC

I want to remove Adobe Flash Player from my device because in my opinion it is just way too slow to work effective. When I load a website with flash content I almost can't scroll and zooming is just even worse. Does anyone know how I can remove it or turn it off?
Thanks in advance.
In the browser, press menu.
Settings > Disable plugins (?)
If that doesn't work, use a file explorer such as root explorer (requires root) to delete the flash apk from your system.
It may even be possible to use the built in application manager to remove it, but I can't remember if it shows it or not.

I already disabled the plugins and I tried to remove it with Titanium Backup. When I select Adobe Flash and hit delete I get an error saying the apk-file can not be found.
Where can I find the apk-file in Root Explorer? I'm trying to find it but no succes yet
> Warning
install_flash_player.apk cannot be deleted because the file system is read-only.
How to bypass this error?
I already found out how to bypass it. I had to press some button to change from r/o to r/w.

There is one flash player floating around, 10.1.92.8. I removed the install_flash_player.apk (10.1.72) and install this. Didn't see any differences though.
As to your problem, i didn't face any such problems.

[Q] Can't rw on /system

I backed up and then deleted my play store using titanium backup but when I went to restore it it wouldn't let me. So I tried to move it to system/apps using a few file explorers like root explorer,Es explorer and super manager but non of them let me put system folder into rw mode , and yes I did give all of them root rights. I also tried to use the adb command on the terminal with su rights but that did nothing, does anyone have any advice besides reseting my phone.i am also running Jedi mind trick x3(i know I need to update)

In ES, you have to go to 'Root Explorer' under 'Tools', then 'Mount R/W', then use the radio buttons to give it write permissions (given that you have root already).

I have this problem too! I am currently trying to uninstall the system youtube app because it wont let me install the new 5.0 update without doing that as I have a modded youtube apk. I am on AOKP custom ROM

SuperSU remains on phone after system update but cannot be accessed or deleted

I used a root explorer to access the file, it says it can't be deleted because it's read only. Going to superSU on the play store shows that it is installed and shows no option to uninstall. What do I do.

delete system apps

I'm rooted with latest Magisk but it's not possible to delete system apps by using root explorer, even when mounted R/W.
Is there a trick or do i have to use TWRP?

Only trick I know is to download Titanium Backup for Android and give it Magisk root approval.
Use it to delete apps.
Take note: I have destroyed several 100% stock Oreo setups by removing system apps. Have not narrowed it
down to which apps caused that. But be ready for it to never reboot followed by flashing the entire system again.
Hm, I don't understand why it's not possible to delete system apps or folders (in fact apk kan be deletetd, but folder not),
You can delete them in TWRP, but be careful on which apps you delete because as already mentioned in this thread, you can be stuck with an unbootable system.
I'm planning on creating a custom flashable zip for myself that removes certain apps, changes the font, and boot animation in one go; just to streamline the process after I factory reset & update every month.
I can delete the APK by using ROOT EXPLORER, but I'm not able to delete the folder of the app.
Strange, on all other devices that was never a problem
Just freeze what you dont want. What did you want to get rid of anyways?

For those who want to re-install OnePlus apps that aren't hosted on the play store

I was about to uninstall the file manager since the file hosting was buggy and I preferred doing it with solid explorer cause I had more control on the configurations.
I noticed the OnePlus file manager isnt on the play store so I wanted to keep a backup in case I wanted it again. I decided to ADB pull and noticed it's in the system partition. I guess it gets updated via OTAs and installed after a factory reset.
You don't need root or ADB, just a file explorer capable of showing the root of the file system. Go to /system/reserve and select the OnePlus app you want back by running the apk install from there.
