Hi
my brother has a Tab S SM-T700 and is annoyed with the bloated stock rom. Warranty is long gone, so lets just root it and put a custom rom on it.
Should I go for a debloated stock rom, or another rom like Lineage? What would you say?
OTA updates would be nice, since he's probably not good with flashing zips in recovery.

I bought an S3 ( i747 with some ATT bloatware on it) on ebay and it came rooted with " Lidroid Mod ( ported by Wanam)"
I am getting ads in the notifications bar and a icon( "get apps" on my homepage keeps on popping back up everytime I delete it.
Can some kind soul give me some basic information:
Can I unroot and return to the original configuration and be ablt to recieve updates to Android
OR
suggest another very stable ROM. I am a simple user so I don't really need fancy mods.
Note: It came with SuperSU and AdvanceS loaded

You can unroot and move back to stock, and I recommend you do that first. Only reason for me would be to completely reset the phone as if you have gotten it the first time. From then on, I would root and play around with this device.

After unrooted, simply factory reset your phone so your phone is brand new

For roms there are a lot of stable roms, the question is what roms suit you?
If you want pure AOSP builds or something close to that, I suggest CM10.1 (OR soon to be CM 10.2) or Task650's AOKP. I'm actually using Task650's AOKP rom right now, and it's VERY stable. Smooth as well. Battery life is Okay, similar to stock.

I looked into your suggestions for ROMs and in the threads for them it seems that there are bugs or dev support issues that make me want something more reliable.
Is there a way that I can load a Stock ROM and selectivley eliminate the bloatware?

Check out mrRobinson's debloater here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732039
Grab one of the stock firmware downloads and root it and make sure to install CWM recovery. Then use the debloater - he has instructions in the thread.

Thanks guys, I now have a rooted phone with a stock ROM that is deblaoted. ( I would have prefer that mu ebay special unknowingly didn't arrive rooted with suspicious software, but I made the best of it).

I've been poking around looking for a Touchwiz based ROM to upgrade to and I'm completely confused and thoroughly bedazzled (comic sans, multiple colors, huge signature graphics, etc).
It seems that MK4 based ROMs are based off of the latest Sprint images, but to upgrade into one of those, you have to revert to a stock less than MK4 ROM, then update to MK4, then upgrade to an MK4 based ROM? Does it matter if you are rooted or not? I got the impression you had to unroot at some point...
What happened to the days of a ROM was self contained? I've seen several ROMS mention that you had to have a certain base ROM already installed to install a different ROM. That sounds needlessly complicated....

That MOD allow you to add those features to a 4.3 rom and above. And for the second link you can flash that itll be stock. Ah, I see what happened. I didn't know there was such a thing as a MOD, only ROMs. I came across the ROM you linked to thinking it was a repost of the MOD-that-I-thought-was-a-ROM, so i was wondering what was going on.
I will give that ROM a shot. Thanks for clarifying things!

OK, Have rooted my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (T-320) and installed CM12. Found that camera is not saving photos so I would like to revert back to STOCK rom which has been modified. The Android Development thread is a bit unorganized due to being mixed with CM roms.
So, which ROM STOCK customized ROM would you suggest? I am currently downloading Average Joes ROM.

I have a Galaxy S3, running a Slim Kat ROM with Android 4.4.4. I am need of a stock ROM that I could flash to my phone. When I try using Odin, predictably, it fails because the only stock ROM I can find is version 4.1. Does anyone have a stock ROM that would work? This phone was already rooted with a custom ROM when I bought it. I like the freedom and the absence of bloatware, but I have just had too many glitches. The battery life also seems worse with custom ROMS (I've tried several), and it wasn't good to start with. So, I would like to put a stock ROM on here.

In this way, you can easily debloat the firmware by selecting which app / process you want to unsitall or simply disable.
Besides, all of them, can be react later if you want...
