Iam using i9300XXALF2, rooted device with CMW installed.
After flashing BESTSCREEN BRIGHTNESS FIX MODE with CMW http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791163 my phone is booting but gets stuck at showing
input mode:
touchwiz launcher
XP mod
Panda home
windows 7
after selecting TOUCH WIZ, but not loading, showing some error like CLEAR DEFAULT FROM SETTING>APPS.... or something like this. and it is not loading any launcher. I hope only the launcher is affected.
My phone is getting recognized by international toolkit, made a NANDRIOD backup after the crash.
I had made a backup of my phone when it was new, immediately after rooting and installing CMW. I recovered my phone with that nandriod backup. but the system went a very early stage. i lost almost all applications from the home screen, though the folders and files are showing in the internal memory.
So now i have two backups, (1) when the phone was new (2) after the crash
My question is can someone help me to recover the phone to the stage just before installing brightness fix for S3.(i have made a backup after the crash- data, system cache, nandroid, boot, recovery).
Please help.me. since iam a newbie iam not alllowed to post in that specific forum. Iam desperate. please help me.......
it's a very sad thing that nobody helped me. I know there are so many knowledgeable people out here. anyways I have sorted a solution myself after so many trial and error attempts within two days. I couldn't find time to post the reply . I am posting the solution that worked for me only because there might be so many other people who are also might be facing the z ame dilemma I faced.
as I mentioned in the first post that I had two backups. one older, and working. second backup I made at the time of crash.
what I did is just flashed the system.ext4.tar from the first backup , and everything started working again. most of the minor problems gets corrcted by this method.
my advice to other newbies just like me is always make a backup before trying any mods posted here. 2 mods I tried and both crashed my system.

I'm sorry if its a repost, I wanted to share and ask that my sister formatted my whole Galaxy Nexus(maguro), i lost almost everything, so I wanted to know how to recover it? Sadly I didn't have any backup or so.
My problems are:-
1. I tried various recovery softwares like recuva, sadly they didn't recognize my Galaxy Nexus.
2. I want to recover Titanium Backup files too and images.
Any sort of help will be very good for me.
Thanks in advance

Help Me Please :/
Hi, i have installed Xperia Ultimate HD 4.0 Rom and no problem, I've installed some apps like Whatsapp, etc. After that I've installed the Xperia Ultimate HD MOD v.4.8, it installed ok, but now is having bootloop and I can't access CWM recovery menu, and I don't know what to do.
Please, help !!!
Using stock kernel and also my phone was rooted. My phone is a Xperia Arc.
Please guys, I don't know what to do, help please. Also, I have a backup of the rom, but as I said I can't access CWM recovery menu.
First of all, be patient. Receiving an answer might take few hours.
Secondly, there are numerous topics about bootloops, use the search tool before posting a new topic.
Thirdly, Flashtool, flash stock firmware (make sure to install ICS) but do not wipe data. This way you can save your contacts, SMSes, apps and other personal data. How to do it? - Search.

Sorry for the desperate. I've done what you said and it worked, thanks a lot. I'm new at rooting and installing Roms, etc. Sorry again and thank you very much for solving my problem. You saved my Arc.:victory:
Hi, all, this is my first post on these forums. I have a SERIOUS problem with my SGH-I717. I have been trying to install a rom on it today, and failing. So I decided to give up, I wiped/reset everything with CWM 5.5.0.4. Then I restored using my latest backup. The only thing is: Now my phone is very slow, reboots a lot, and has no sounds what so ever. How do I fix this without loosing everything? I hate to post like this, but I am up against the wall on this one!
I would really appreciate any and all help I can get!
Thanks
Todd
I need to unroot my phone. Since I've rooted, the vibration motor only works sproadically. I have had hardware repair people check it out and it isn't the part itself, so they suggested I take it back to the provider to see what the problem is. Obviously, the provider won't touch it if it's rooted.
There's all kinds of directions online about how to restore to factory. My problem is that this is a phone I also use for work and so contacts, app data, calendar, etc. etc. will all need to be restored. However, the conundrum is that there aren't any backup apps that can backup the app and the app data and/or restore same without root. So even though I have used Titanium Backup to backup my apps/data, I wont be able to restore after unrooting.
FYI my phone is AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II SGH-I317, rooted but no custom rom (still stock).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Some have suggested I learn to live without the vibration, but there are many times I need my phone in silent mode but need to have the vibration on so I am alerted to incoming calls/appointments/texts/alerts.
Thanks,
Why do you say TiBu won't do the job? You can restore user apps and their data 100%; you can also restore phone and sms logs. Just don't restore system data.
Move your personal data to the external sd card.
Besides unrooting you have to restore the binary count to zero using triangle away app.

My understanding is that TiBU cannot restore apps/data unless the phone is rooted. If there's a way to do it without the phone being rooted, please let me know.
How do I "move my personal data to the external sd card?' and do I do that before or after restoring the factory firmware?
I've restored the binary count using triangle away. Will I need to do this again after restoring the factory firmware?
Obviously I'm a less sophisticated user. TBH I only rooted to get rid of the bloatware, I never had any intention of making any other changes (nor do I really have the skill/knowledge to do so). If there's a way to get this accomplished, I'd really appreciate some instructions. All the threads I've read have a bunch of technical language that I really don't understand.
Thanks for your help...
You make a zip file of your apps and data, then you use the stock recovery to flash. You name it update.zip.

Is there a thread I could read which would give me step by step directions to do this. Thank you so much for your help.
Question: can you make a nandroid backup, unroot, factory reset, triangle away, send phone for repair, when phone returns, root, restore the nandroid?
Im sure you dont want to send your phone with personal stuff on it.

I'm sure that this would be an acceptable method. Is nandroid backup something that can be done via TiBu? If not, could you point me to a thread that would have instructions on how to do this.
As always, thank you for your help!
A nandroid backup is an image of your system. You mske it using recovery. So, did you install a custom recovery?
Thanks
I guess this is what I get for going on a developers' forum, and not being a developer myself. After trying to do nandroid backups and restores, I have successfully bricked my phone. Even the person who developed the toolkit won't answer my posts to his website. So I guess my best solution is to get a new phone and never come back to these forums, because I'm clearly in over my head, and no one here can answer the questions of a simpleton like me. Sorry I ever tried to do anything on my phone. Clearly the only thing I've accomplished is to waste my time, ruin my device, and bug people on this forum with my inane inability to comprehend the concepts you guys understand here. Arriva dirce!

I wasn't bothered by your questions. I like helping other xda'ers solve their problems. Sorry someone somewhere else offended you.
If there is any activity at all when you press the power button you have a great chance of restoring your phone.
