How to go back to 7.1.1 - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

I'm on Oreo sock 2 Feb security patch with locked BL. Is there a way to go back to 7.1.1 without unlocking BL.

There seems to be a long way to go back like loosing IMEI :crying: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...ck-bootloader-to-lasted-stock-t3718190/page25

Newer fastboot firmware?

I am trying to relock my bootloader but, this z2 play had Oreo update in August and a security patch later than that. None of the firmware shared on this forum allows bootloader to be locked, it always fails saying downgrade of security.
Does this mean anyone on latest security updates cannot lock bootloader? If there are no firmware to avoid security downgrade, we are stuck with unlocked?
The latest firmware I can find is OPS27.76-12-25. This is April security patch. Before I unlocked this device, it received a security patch after the Oreo update which was probably the one above.
Can we downgrade security level in order to lock bootloader with April firmware?

rooted and bootloader unlocked Phone update to pie

Hi,
I have question so my phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted, recently I got the notification for the pie update to Android 9. My question now can I still update without problems or should I unroot and lock my bootloader again?
Do not ever relock your bootloader. Unless you were planning on selling it.
So the update will be no problem? But won't it be noticed in the update process and cause problems?

The bootloader being unlocked had nothing to do with updating. But root might , I'm not sure I don't take OTA updates. Magisk Is a systemless root so it may work fine , I haven't ever tried.
The unlocked bootloader is fine. Worst case scenario you lose your root and have to reroot your phone, which is easy to do. I upgraded from 8 to 9 without issue with an unlocked bootloader, all I had to do was reroot the phone

Rollback to oreo to unlock bootloader??

Hi there.. yesterday our device got android pie update.
So i was thinking is there any way to revert back to oreo
With security patch before august..so that we can unlock the
Bootloader.
I have seen nokia 7+ has an option to revert back to oreo with april security patch and so they can unlock the bootloader.
Can we do the same for our device??

Root

Is there a way to root the phone with the more recent updates? I never got the bootloader unlocked before they locked it for good
You only can root if ur bootloader is unlocked.
Since August patch, you cant unlock ur bootloader. You need to downgrade ur phone to pre august.
But your bootloader stays unlocked if you update to newer versions

Is there a way to downgrade without an unlocked bootloader? I see one firmware thread, but it says it requires an unlocked bootloader.
I'm quite fed up with the aggressive task killer Nokia piled into the TA-1045, but without root I can't seem to remove or even stop it.
