Google pay failed - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I am on 8.1.0 with magisk.. I tried hiding root but says I am rooted or have a unlocked boot loader so Google pay won't work. How can I get Google pay to work being rooted unlocked BL? will a aftermarket kernel fix this ?

Gotta be something going on besides just rooted as many of us have no issues.

Did you select Hiding in magisk manager?

Yeah I tried selecting it. It says "This app uses safety net which is handled by magisk by default. I'm using stock boot img that I patched. Will a custom kernel do anything with spoofing the security?

I'm stock, rooted and set Gpay up this afternoon...
What version of Magisk you running. You installed the zip through twrp and the apk in Android...?

Nexus 5x /w SaftyNet

I've recently rooted my device using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206930
Done steps 1,2,4,5,6 only (rooted device, stock rom - Android 7.0).
I'm unable to pass the SaftyNet test, getting message "Response payload validation failed" (when using SaftyNet Helper app from play store).
I tried to google my situation, but I couldn't find what I was looking for.
Any advice?
If I'm not mistaken, if you unlock your bootloader, you're going to trip SN. I believe there are kernels out there which have modified the bootloader check so you should pass. Hiding root is another matter I believe.

I don't want to alter kernel, Is there any other way?
If you've already unlocked & rooted. I'd recommend a kernel. There are some really great ones for the device that have significant performance improvements.
What kernels allow safety net to pass? I've been thinking of rooting with a custom ROM but don't want to lose Android pay or pokemon go...

Franco and elementalx for sure, Jolla too I believe. But you still have to hide root. The kernel only Kris the unlocked bootloader from being detected. Safetynet will still fail unless you're using Magisk or some other way to hide root.
Is ARISE sound mod compatible? (modify /system partition)
Edit : safetynet passed with Magisk hide

Magisk Hide can also do it. It's a totally different root procedure though.

Relock bootloader for x727

Hello everyone. I spent the whole day get it to work (rooting, cm13 install) just to find out that Android pay won't work with unlocked bootloader phone.
I went back to the us latest stock rom with stock recovery now
When Im in bootloader
I use "fastboot OEM lock" and it worked (checked with fastboot OEM device-info)
But a reboot will undo it and the bootloader is unlocked again.
Anyone can help with this? Android pay is pretty big for me so I just want to go back to stock stock now
Thank you

What ROM are you on? If on stock you need to flash ROM, Magisk V9, and Phh's SU r266 in that order. Then boot. Then download Phh's SU app from Play Store. Then install the Magisk 2.5 app. Go into Magisk app and go to settings. Check Magisk Hide box. Reboot. Check SafetyNet.

Lookup SafetyNet on app store. There is a couple of apps that will check to see if your phone passes Google SafeyNet.

Thanks Tikerz, i got it to work, exactly the way you said. thank you so much. this is amazing
Does anyone happen to have the stock LEX727 US EUI Rom? My baseband is broken by flashing the LEX720 version of EUI.
Has anyone been able to do this yet? (relock bootloader)
I've unrooted and relocked mine but Android Pay is still not working
May try to reinstall soft again to stock, wipe and then try?

Is it possible to have root while also having a locked bootloader?

I really want to use Android Pay but I'm not able to unless I have a locked bootloader. But then I will also lose root in the process. Anytime I reflash TWRP then lock the bootloader, it will just bootloop. Can someone help me please?
To use android pay you can flash magisk. AP should works fine with unlocked bootloader and root.

How does that work though? Does it trick AP into thinking that the bootloader is locked or...
I can't check if Android Pay works because my country does not support it, but it should work because my device passes SafetyNet with unlocked bootloader.
First you need an unrooted rom with franco kernel, because franco kernel hides the unlocked bootloader from SafetyNet.
2. Install Rootswitch and reboot into TWRP.
3. Install SuperSU in systemless mode.
4. Reboot into Android and disable root in the Rootswitch App.
5. Android Pay should work now.

I still get the "cant be used on this device error" even after following these instructions. I'm starting to wonder if root is even worth it.

How can I change my Android Emojis to Emoji One without Root or bypass Safetynet ?

Hello Guys,
I have a Oneplus 3 with Oxygen OS 4.0.1 with locked Bootloader atm because when I try to use Android Pay with Root and Freedom OS it doesn't work
I figured out that this Safetynet fails when I unlock my Bootloader but
I would like to get the EmojiOne Emojis back in Whatsapp and Android Keyboard is this Possible ?
Is there a Way to bypass Safetynet that I can use Root and V4A again ?
(I already tried Magisk)
Greetings
Magisk has an emoji one module, root, etc while passing safety net

It doesn't work on Oneplus 3 because it's nearly Stock and the Safety Thing checks for unlocked Bootloader......
I managed it by installing a custom Whatsapp Mod and maybe a custom Keyboard soon.....

In fact, Magisk patch the bootloader dm-verity (which is used by SafetyNet to check if your device is unlocked), so juste flash a completly stock system, check SafetyNet, and Install latest Magisk with the modules you want, reboot and you're good to go !

Working perfectly with the normal way of unlocking, installing TWRP and flashing Magisk
What can you do with root before it breaks ? (Xposed,Substratum,Adblocker or V4A working ?)
What were your Steps to get it working ?
Do you still have the DM-Veriy Warning on Boot ?

I'm running Open Beta 13 with an unlocked bootloader and Magisk with Substratum. I would recommend unlocking your bootloader, flashing stock, then rooting with just Magisk, not SuperSU. I followed these steps and I have it working, SafetyNet passed.

Its working perfectly on op3 with magisk. So relax.
You must check magisk hide in magisk settings ofc.
Running latest freedomOS CE and all good. Magisk, safetynet, V4A, abblock, substratum. All working.
So stop saying it doesnt work with unlocked bootloader, thats just bull****.
Update to latest version of Freedom OS.
I think you should try updating your ROM to latest version of Freedom OS. Has everything you need.
Thanks Guys
It works

Does Android Pay still work when rooted?

Some work with root. what about the 1+5T?
Im using tez, phone pay rooted with magisk.

Dunno if this is the same on 4.7.6 but running the Open Beta 2 and it works when rooted with Magisk and, but not when I have no root. So I guess it's detecting the bootloader status and thus, magisk will work.
I'm using it right now with magsik 15.3. If u unlock the boot loader u will never pass safety net which is requires to use these applications. But if u flash magisk it will pass safety net and u will be able to use it. Super su won't work

Just so OP doesn't get the wrong idea: You have to unlock the bootloader for any root method. And once you root, you should never ever re-lock the bootloader (unless you flash completely back to stock).
Magisk root method will allow cloaking both the bootloader status and root so that Android Pay works perfectly. I've never had an issue.
Yea I'll echo what's been said. Android pay has worked on my op3 and now my 5t rooted, with magisk hide.
