{APK Request} Shudder Fire TV APK - Fire TV Themes and Apps

Hi,
I have an Nvidia Shield and Shudder released a Fire TV app but not one for the Shield.
The normal android app crashes so I was hoping someone could upload specifically the Fire TV version and I could side load that on to my Nvidia Shield (which has worked for other Fire TV only apps like NJPW World). I tried the download APK of Amazon chrome extension alas it wouldn't let me download the apk.
Thanks in advance.

Installation went well, but it keeps asking me to sign in to the Amazon App Store, and won't function until I do so. Any help would be great!

You can only work around this if you have root privileges. Otherwise you cannot avoid logging in.

How does that work? I'm sure it's a lot to explain. If it is, no worries!

Install Lucky Patcher 7.3.8 and then disable the Amazon license verification for this app via ODEX modification

Anyone managed to get the Play Store to work?

Has anyone currently managed to get the Google Play Store to work correctly on Fire TV? I've done a forum search and I don't get anything on the topic.
If it is working, please direct me to the link! Thanks!

I'm almost certain the Fire TV I installed the play store on did not have unknown sources enabled. I am able to download and install apps just fine. I could be remembering incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure I never enabled unknown sources on this particular Fire TV.

Uk Fire TV

Hi Guys, I've read a lot of stuff on here, and I'm a little confused.
I'm getting my Fire Tv to, with the intention of rooting it to use as an XBMC box.
I understand that it may come with frimware that can't be rooted (not without some soldering anyway) how could I check that?
Do I need to block the update sites in my router before switching it on?

I'm in the UK and just received my Fire TV.
I blocked the updates at my router using the guide from aftvnews website.
However, my Fire TV won't complete the setup without updating.
It seems there is no way around this, so I either put it back in it's box and await some way to get around it, or I let it update and use it without root.

Bugger. That's what I was afraid of.
Thanks for your reply mate.
Which firmware did your UK AFTV come installed with? Here's a list

Thanks for the info. Still have my US bought one for ages ago, so will continue using that for now.
Out of curiosity, did you go through the install process anyway? If you did, just curious what firmware Uk ships with and what it attempts to download.
Cheers

I went through the install process anyway as not too fussed about root as long as XBMC works.
I don't know what firmware it shipped with because I couldn't access it with letting the update run, but it asked me to select language on setup, so I assume it was one of the 51.1.3. versions.
Anyhow, it updated and firmware is now 51.1.4.0_user_514006420.
So looks like a brand new firmware. I won't hold my breath for root on this one!!

Yes you can install and run xbmc without root, just sideload over adb.
Root just enables you to use it as a launcher, so you can skip the fire tv interface.

Just one thing to note.. You also asked about playing media off an external usb device. I believe this does need root, but worth double checking that. XBMC works fine with media from a network share or NAS though without root.

Hi
I got mine today too, unrootable
I have sideloaded Kodi, seems to work fine, though the Helix alpha did not work, so am using gotham 13.2.
Would be nice to have xbmc on the home screen... very lame having to tool through several menus to get to xbmc every time... hopefully some clever sod will hack this so it will work with android free from amazon's suffocation.
Mark.

A half decent workaround is to use Llama and a "dummy" app to make xbmc/kodi launch when you click the dummy app on the home screen. There's a guide below (look at the "Semi Bypass" Section). Been using it for a while and works fine, as long as you don't mind clicking a random icon to launch kodi.
http://kodi.wiki/view/Amazon_Fire_TV#Llama_.28automation.29_Events
I'm using mine with a NAS. I think attaching USB hard drives does require root.
I use SPMC (non launcher version) and it shows up in recently used apps at the top of Fire TV main menu, so no having to dig through the settings sub menus.
This may be because it's also in Amazon App Store (though shows as not compatible with Fire TV).

I've tried a few versions of xbmc, they all start up with the initial startup/config screen then instantly just boot back to the fire launcher, then when I click on xbmc to launch it looks like it's about to boot but then just comes straight back to the fire launcher.
Ive also installed plex with side load and that works ok?
Do you have any suggestions? thanks.

[Q] whats the difference between an amazon app and a play app?

Hi guys
So I got to thinking. Why does an installed app from Amazon get on the home screen but a sideloaded app doesn't.
I took a look at the manifests of tvplayer from Amazon and google. The tvplayer downloaded from Amazon has lots of references to Amazon.com. Which one would allow a sideloaded apk with a modified manifest to appear on the aftv home screen?

I think it has to do with the app being in your Amazon cloud. It's quite complicated as it doesn't really show a list of apps installed on your device.

On one of my lists of things to do is finish my AllApps mod to my xposed mod. It gives you a standard grid list of the installed apps.

Yeah. The closest you'll get with an unrootable unit is the FiredTV launcher over in the apps section.

Tried that. Not exactly eye candy. Went back to original launched with the llama mod to show SPMC.

google apps on a fire tv with no root

is it possible to install gapps on the fire tv thats not rooted? If so, what apk's are needed? I'm trying to run a few apps that ask for a google account (nba jam). I thought I read somewhere that a few apks are needed to run those type of apps but I can't find the topic now.

The second link of that thread has those 4 APKs you are talking about. I sideloaded the four APks in the order they said and I had Play store and all Google apps on my Fire Phone. Im going to give it try on my Fire TV this weekend after I do some research. I'll post my results.
Thanks. I actually found the post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/themes-apps/how-to-install-gapps-root-t2960705
unfortunately it didnt work for me. even after setting the permissions from adb, i get the retry connection in playstore and play movies closes when I try and click a video. youtube works fine though. might have to give the other topic a try and see if the apk's are different. I was hoping to get nba jam and madden mobile working but they just force close.

Directv app in UK

Hi all,
I have a 2nd gen FireTV, live in the UK, and I'm trying to install directv (not directv now). I've installed the tablet version from 1mobile market and that opens ok, let's me accept disclaimer, but then tells me my version is out of date.. When downloading newest version (5.0.107) from aptoide, it just doesn't open. Sometimes the disclaimer page loads for a second, but then it just closes again
I not 100% sure I have the right version for the FireTV
I have a US VPN connected
Any ideas?

I would choose the tablets one just for the probably built-in landscape mode & the size of the channels guide alone.
Both versions seem to have been updated on the same day. Although they have different version numbers.

If your device is rooted. You might wanna try the XPosed Holo Themer module. See if that helps to open the App.
Try the non-tablet one next.
Could also be related to not having the PlayStore Services on our FTV's.
I tried the APKMirror tablet APK since it suppose to be nodpi. But it crashes as soon as it tries to load the agreement.
Tried the phone version too. That one crashes quicker. Will try to see if Holo Themer helps the Tablet App load later.
