So I'm looking to buy some additional chargers for my OPO. But unfortunately you cannot buy the official charger seperatly. Are there any 3rd party chargers that work just as well? I have a few at home that just don't seem to charge the phone fast enough (also, I think it does not hold the charge as long with these chargers, but that could be the placebo effect.) What should I be looking for in a good charger? Is the wall piece more important that the USB cord. Does the type of USB cord even matter if the wall piece has the right "specs". Any suggestions for chargers to buy (preferably on Amazon since I have Prime).

Definitely look got chargers with high A. I noticed that on my old chargers were the A was 1.3, it would not charge the phone or would charge very slowly. The stock charger is great, I use a different USB cable so it's longer in length.

What is the stock details of the OEM chargers? Not got mine yet and I usually use some old HTC chargers which are 5V/1amp

The galaxy S4 and up chargers are 2A. If you can find some around somewhere.
The OnePlus charger is a 2A 5V part and the included USB cable charges it relatively fast. However, the small length of the cable pissed me off.
I ended up getting 2 of these - http://www.siig.com/it-products/it-accessories/mobile-phone-accessories/3-1a-ac-dc-usb-charger.html . It has a little 1A USB charge port addon for use in the car's 12V port. The main USB port on the charger is a 2.1A port if I remember correctly. Charges as fast or faster than the OnePlus charger included.
The charger has a little removable two-prong plug (like the Apple chargers) and you can stick any random two-pin power cord on this end, basically giving you as much length as you need. That's what I liked a lot about these. Annoying thing though is the blue LED, a bit bright but nothing electrical tape won't fix.
EDIT: Use any charging-only cable, one of the Samsung 2A cables or the Oneplus One cable itself for fast chargng.

coupled they are killer. The anker hub is amazing...will provide PLENTY of power to anything plugged into it, and the mediabridge cable is 24 AWG, so it can handle the 2amp that the phone requires...plus it's very long.
the blackberry playbook chargers work great. they have long cords and are < $5 on amazon.

from the pictures(i think) it seems aukey has a better board quality than anker but i could'nt find any pictures of Tronsmart WC1T board
base price for both anker and aukey is about 40$ and for tronsmart is 25$ so maybe those two have a better build quality

I was thinking about buying a Qualcomm QuickCharger and researched it a lot. I chose the Tronsmart charger over the Anker Powerport singleport wall charger.
Pro's:
1. Comes with a USB cable (24 AWG) with a length of 6 ft. (I wanted a long USB cable with good charging rates! For Quickcharging, a good cable is a must along with the QuickCharge adapter)
2. It comes with an Indian type plug (I am from India, and didnt wana buy a converter for USA to India conversion)
3. footprint is similar to Anker
Cons :
1. No LED light (In Anker, blue light normally; green when in 9V/12V. However, once you have established that your device supports Quickcharge, the colour change has no significance)

They are all GOOD, and possibly made in the same place in China. Not familiar with Transmart, but I have reviewed a ton of Anker and Aukey, and Choetech products. They all good because they have a better quality control and offer an excellent support and extended warranty. To differentiate, maybe look for better accessories, like low gauge cables (that's a plus for high current charging), and better price deals.
Btw, what are you planning to charge with QC3.0, are there any phones/tablets even available to take advantage of it?
Anker makes a quality product. I know their batteries work well. I'd go with them over the others.

I also trust Anker's quality. But I could think twice when purchasing since its price is always highest one.
Anker, Aukey and Tronsmart quick chargers all comes with 18W output. Actually the 1st release of this products share the same specifications.
So the quality is the point. It is very difficult to decide based on their Amazon reviews, almost the same review rating.
So, I am iClever Fans, since I bought a dual usb charger from their store. Works so great as I expect.
Its quick charge 3.0 single port charger is Amazing, 24W output.

Ii would prefer aukey, I bought aukey qc 3.0 for use in car, and it works very well, I got some hdmi miracast adapter from Tronsmart and there is poor support on it, and does not work well (cant connect from NB or PC with Windows 10 to the adapter, but from smarthphone it works, only sometimes drops connection)
I have my HTC M10 on hand now. Just buy a set of QC 3.0 charger(wall, car, desktop) from Tronsmart. Works as expected.

this is the only charger that can fast charge both USB Type A devices and Type C devices.
Type C devices like Galaxy S8, Nexus 5X/6P or Google Pixel aren't able to be fast charged using a type a to type c cable, so please consider it when getting a type a only charger.

AFAIK, the phone will only take a maximum of 1A. It doesn't help or hurt to go more though. So, if the 1.5A charger is cheaper, I'd go that route since you could then use it on other devices that require more juice ("future proofing").

Go with any Quick Charge charger. I personally have the Quick Charge 3.0 Aukey 2 port because I also have an HTC 10. I can tell you that it will charge the phone faster than the stock charger. The M7 has Quick Charge 1.0 technology but the stock charger wasn't a quick charge charger. With with a quick charge charger you can get a fill charge in a little over a hour 40 mins.
The HTC M7 is not on Qualcomm quick charger 1.0 compatibility list.

You might as well stick to original charge because fast chargers can mess up the battery.
b$ mate. Charging controller is in the phone, not in the charger. You can use even 100A charger, but phone will limit charging current go to the batter as it needs.

For my old Nexus 6, I must use car charger with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, because otherwise the Nexus 6 will still loosing power when using car navigation software. Standard car charger cannot keep up with the battery drain.

I came from a Nexus 6 too. I ended up buying micro USB to usb-c mini adapters which just go on the end of my old USB leads. I threw one on the car charger and it works fine. It's a stop Gap measure, and I mainly got it for an ihome Android charger/radio, but ended up wrapping duct tape around a usb-c charger cable and putting it in the radio dock.

I use the Aukey QC 3.0 car charger with dual 3.0 USB ports. It does not register as rapid charging but it is very quick. I used it with Moto Z Droid and used Google navigation while charging and it charges quick and does not lose charge. I also use the Aukey 3.0 wall charger and that does register as rapid charging.
I just bought a Deltaco (a Scandinavian brand) 3A/5V 15W car charger for 6,5 USD. Can't feel much difference compared to the original home charger's 18W using a 2. Gen Goobay 60W USB C-C cable.
Phone registers the input as rapid charging.
Ampere registers 2.7A with the screen on. Same as the standard charger, so I didn't find any reason why it should be worse

The curly cord is hard wired and side mounted with a USB C plug on the end, it charges my Pixel 2 fast (charging rapidly). I had issues with other chargers and cables that wouldn't charge my Pixel 2 at full speed, this one works great. Also, it has a USB A port on the top so you can rapidly charge two devices at the same time.
The Verizon branded one works really great. Charges very fast.

I think the hard wired C cabled chargers are the safest bet because of all the dicey 3rd party C cables out there.
I just got the $10 Monoprice USB C charger with PD (9v 3A) because it is rated to charge the at least as fast as the in-box wall charger. Not shilling for Monoprice, just seemed like a better deal than all the sketchy chargers on Amazon with fake reviews, none of which offered anything but 5v 3A or worse at under $25. I figure it's trustworthy because they say it's certified and Benson tested their cables and said they were OK. So far it has not tried to burn my car down or nuke my phone. I'm using it with the 0.5m Monoprice cable, it was about $17 with tax for the bundle. I can't post links, search 24424 on Monoprice.

I went and got these Anker USB-A to USB-C cables (LINK) so that I could charge with these cables or to connect my phone to my PC. Now, I've read that older Anker USB-C cables have had issues but from doing some more reading that these have been fixed I believe.
I am planning on using the Aukey charger mentioned above, and then plugging in one of the Anker USB-A to USB-C to charge my phone and was wondering if it'll be a safe combination? From some googling around and research, it seems it won't charge as fast as the wall charger (which is amazingly fast btw) or a USB-PD connection but that's perfectly fine as I don't need it to be as quick. I'm just cautious because I've read about the potential issues with using a bad charger with a not-up-to-standard cable (like something that isn't necessarily verified by Benson Leung or something). I don't care/need USB-PD charging (which I assume is where it uses a dedicated USB-C cable coming from the charger or a separate USB-C to USB-C cable connecting the cable to charger), as long as the combination I just mentioned works.

It will charge your phone just fine, but as you said, it will not fast charge. I use a similar setup now as I continue to look for the right PD car charger.

You guys should both look at 24424 on Monoprice. That QC charger isn't going to fast charge no matter what, I used one with a Tronsmart branded USB C to Micro B adapter that Benson recommended no problems though. They have a cheaper non-PD charger too, but why bother?

I'm sorry, I don't understand. If we already have charger that aren't PD compliant then why do you recommend buying another?

A USB C charger 5v 3W standard will still charge faster than a USB A QC charger, but it's only $3 less on Monoprice for the non-PD one. I don't see anything on usb DOT org listing GearMo on the certified power brick chart. I wouldn't risk it. There's no reason to put a USB 3.0 A-type port on a charger, seems fishy to me.

This is my first foray into Android and I love the Pixel 2. It's great and I want to make sure I treat it well. Do you trust 3rd party wall chargers or do you think there is a risk they are bootleg and could damage the phone? I got one off Amazon and it seems to be ok so far, but who knows - (as a new user I can't post a link to the Amazon listing apparently). It's called "Google Quick Fast Charger Gray- Adapter with TYPE C to C Wire for Pixel/XL/C" and came in a discreet package not from Google.

While Amazon is a more reputable dealer than searching on e-Bay...they too are not immune to junk...chargers that don't offer protection...or could result in electrocution. Did you look at the buyer rating to see that they were verified purchases and not fake reviews? What is the wattage and what version of Quickcharge does it support...ideally you want Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0 to maximize charge speed on this phone. I try to at least stick with more reputable brands...I bought an Anker charger from Amazon that supports both QuickCharge 3.0 and has spots for my wife's iPhone. No issues and quick charging.

IIRC,Google Pixels support USB Power Delivery standard, not Qualcomm Quick Charge. The charger that comes with the phone is a PD charger and you can tell this by the fact that it uses a type c connection at the charger and at the phone. It's supposed to be a safer, more universal standard for fast charging USB c devices.
PuffDaddy_d is correct...disregard my QC3 recommendation...although I do get pretty fast charging with it using a quality Type-A to Type-C cable (presumably because it is 18W). For optimum charging, recommendation for Pixel and Pixel 2 (including standard and XL) is USB-C PD standard. Disregard my charger recommendation although I would till recommend sticking to reviewing your brand...if the one you bought is the one by Google...then you're fine.

I was super frustrated shopping on Amazon for chargers because there's just so many fake ones and I couldn't find a Benson list for good chargers. He had some charger criticisms on his Google+ page, but didn't make an Amazon list and searching on G+ makes my head hurt. I went with Monoprice specifically because they're certified; item 24424 for my car charger ($10) and I'm very happy with it. On the office charger, I haven't needed one, battery life has been good enough to not worry, but Monoprice has those at $17, item 24426 or 21674. None of the Monoprice chargers are bundled with a cable, so expect to add $5+ for one. My old Motorola Turbo QC2 wall charger and the iOrange QC3 car charger do no good for the Pixel 2 so I gave them to my dad. I know it probably looks like I'm shilling for Monoprice, but there's so much trash out there. Amazon really sucks at this. Walmart and Staples just plain don't have a real USB C cable in their stores, though Walmart does have a real Samsung USB A-C cable for the same price you'd pay for a two pack from Anker or Cable Matters on Amazon, and I think that's pretty OK for retail. The Nintendo stuff seems OK if you're in a pinch. Gamestop has a Hori car charger (15W, not Power Delivery, cable attached) for $20 and the Nintendo branded wall charger for $30 (39W, has Power Delivery, cable attached). There aren't always cell phone stores around when you're jammed up.

Walmart and Staples just plain don't have a real USB C cable in their stores, though Walmart does have a real Samsung USB A-C cable for the same price you'd pay for a two pack from Anker or Cable Matters on Amazon, and I think that's pretty OK for retail. The Nintendo stuff seems OK if you're in a pinch. Gamestop has a Hori car charger (15W, not Power Delivery, cable attached) for $20 and the Nintendo branded wall charger for $30 (39W, has Power Delivery, cable attached). There aren't always cell phone stores around when you're jammed up.

I'm currently using a Monoprice Charger also and a Cable Matters USB-C Charging Cable.
