My E980 has a real problem making calls in my house. I have great signal and can use data without any problem, but if I try to make a call I go from 4G LTE and 4-5 bars to nada. If I am lucky I will get one or two bars back before the call times out and actually get to connect; otherwise the call times out and if I try again it tells me I can only make emergency calls. I have to either reboot or go into airplane mode and back to get it to try again. No other phone on the same network (AT&T) has this issue, however, and my SIM works just fine in other phones (does not have this problem).
I am running stock 4.4.2, software version E98020h. I am rooted and have Xposed installed with the G2 Tweakbox.
I've done multiple searches and did not find anything that pertains to my issue.
If flashing is required I am not sure if that is possible as I cannot access my SD card (KitKat issue and no app has helped).
Or maybe not. Time to find a decent ROM then.
Hello!
I have a big problem with my G4 (H815 version, Germany) beginning with the switch from CM13 to the (stock based) Genisys 3.2 ROM. I've tried to fix it for three days now but without success. It doesn't stick to LTE anymore like it should do and did before. After a reboot it does sometimes connect to LTE but after switching back from wifi or airplane mode it's showing the "no signal" icon. Then it takes some seconds until it reconnects to the mobile network but now just to 2G or 3G. From this point it's not willing to reconnect to LTE, even not through the manual RAT-selection. "Force LTE" using the hidden menu then results in no network connection. However, after restoring my EFS-partition-backup with TWRP (from a time when it was working perfectly) it's connecting to LTE directly after boot but only once and only until you toggle wifi or go offline - like described before. After the next reboot it will mostly connect to 3G and then maybe switch to LTE sometimes or not.
Of course I have checked, deleted and restored my APN multiple times, I have also recovered to a stock V20b and V10d .kdz using LG UP in refurbish mode. Unfortunately even on the fresh and untouched V10d install it shows the same strange behaviour. Restoring the CM13 backup (including EFS partition), which has worked perfectly before, shows the same network bug now.
My sim-card is still working perfectly in my other phones. It still connects and reconnects almost instantly to LTE in my old S4 in places where the G4 did the same but struggles now.
I have even tried the cdmatool which is used to unlock additional LTE bands. I didn't change anything but it does show all usual LTE-bands which are needed for my provider.
Does anyone have an idea what I could try next? I'm living in an area with much better LTE than 3G connection and paying for a quite expensive LTE contract so a working LTE is very important for me. If I don't get that to work again I would need to replace my just over one month old G4 :crying:
Many thanks in advance for your answers
f-rouz
Meanwhile I have also tried another simcard. Still no LTE
i have the exact same problem, well, almost. no unlocked bootloader, but when i first got the phone i root injected the system.img and flashed away, thought everything was fine. now it just doesn't reconnect to 4G. well, at home at least. on my S4 i get 4 out of 5 bars on 4G, with the G4 i get 2 or 3 bars out of 5 on 4G, so the signal isn't great but good enough. i live in hastings (a town) and went to brighton today (a city) where the signal is max 4G, and the device does pick it up. but as soon as i go through a 3G area to home, it doesn't reconnect. have tried flashing original system.img back, upgrading to MM 6.0 after factory reset (via LG bridge), then downgraded again to V10c via LGUP - factory reset before the downgrade, no joy, still the same.
when you say you have forced LTE in hidden menu, did you try this - enter 277634#*# in dialer and go to field test > modem settings > lte band selection and select the band for your operator, which can be found on 'wiki europe lte bands'. there were two bands for my provider (three UK) and band 3 was what i wanted. i can now switch to 4G but it's a pain having to this every time i come home ( i use my phone for home internet via tethering).
worst part is, having refrained from unlocking the bootloader to save the warranty, i phoned LG today to send it back as faulty and explained i could switch it to lte band 3 via the hidden menu and they told me my warranty was now invalid as had OPENED the hidden menu (they told me this after taking my imei). so if anyone reads this and phones LG for a repair, don't tell them you have accessed the hidden menu if you have done what i did.
think i'm just gonna sell the phone, make a palpable loss and buy another one, as i love the phone
Wow, I haven't thought that from LG. I feel like I've searched the whole internet already and nobody has a solution to this problem. I'm about to send my G4 back to Amazon (or sell it otherwise), hope the best and get myself a Oneplus Two because the G4 seems to be too *****y from the development standpoint. I've never had a situation like this with my previous Samsung phones since 2009. I will miss this camera though. And the NFC and the wireless and fast charging capability... the G4 is a nice phone nevertheless...
Edit: And yes, I have tried the "277634#*#" hidden menu, although it isn't accessible through this code on MM any more (you need a terminal command to start this).
Have you tried limiting it to 4G/2G in hidden menu? Mine also have a similar problem in Lollipop in that it is very aggressive in dropping to 3G. That worked for me. Phone doesn't drop to 2G much provided you have decent LTE coverage.
Now I'm on Marshmallow and not rooted, thus cannot do the same. Though it seems to be sticking to LTE a bit better than before.
I have tried that but it doesn't work. As I don't get any network connection wenn forcing LTE only, forcing LTE/2g results in 2g only.
My G4 still doesn't want to connect to LTE so I have ordered a S6 now... As I still have no idea what was causing this I just can't risk that happening again. It has been a short journey for my first LG and me and I really liked my G4 actually... Bye G4 community
you just needed to flash the stock modem, most likely
Unfortunately, it isn't that easy. That was of course the first thing I did (and not just one time)...
Hello everyone, I've been lurking here all weekend as I've been trying to stabalize this phone I bought off of Kijiji. Right off the bat, when I
installed the sim I forgot to turn off the phone . Haha, I was extremely tired & only when I removed the battery (of course) did I realize what
had happened. Ever since the sim has been in, the signal has been unstable every 5-10-15 to 30 minutes (this is without running POGO). By
unstable, I mean both data & most importantly calls. I won't be able to make or receive, when I place the call during these failures it will
say dialing, connecting... and just continue until "call ended". And when I"m called, outside of LTE just say we've forwarded your call to VM. On
LTE, it will say something along the lines of this customer isn't able to receive your call at the moment.
Troubleshooting Attempts:
- Tried SIM in a different phone & it worked perfectly
- Power Cycled Several times, Factory reset it 3 times
- Set up 2 APN's (sorry can't link yet, but google them if u like they're ez to find. LG G4 VM Canada APN's)
- ^ Tried both, both unstable, but PDA gives most stability
- I've registered to all available networks under GSM/HSPA/LTE all unstable
- Connected Automatically & Manually to GSM/HSPA/LTE together & separately. All unstable
- Phone is not in Air Plane mode
Model: LGH812

Now, I have just recently come across a very interesting development. Using the App Network Signal Refresh Lite,
In pokemon go I've been able to transition to a signal that will stay solid for up to 5 minutes, 3 on average. It will still
lose connection, but will usually reconnect in-app in moments. I do have to minimize it & do a refresh again in NSRL
every now and then but it's a big improvement. Before hand, when I would use go, the service (calls included) would
completely rip in seconds.
So... any ideas? I'll appreciate any & all help.
I've flashed every stock rom I can for the device too, but the signal continues to drop regardless of the OS. Some error messages I' ve gotten are emergency calls only, no service & service disabled but usually it just shows that its connected to virgin but I can't make or receive calls.
Other than the cellular service, everything else with the phone works perfectly. The wifi, the camera, the gps, etc it would be a shame to have to get rid of it but the essentials first. I have to be able to make calls.
Please, anyone, any ideas? Are there any apps I can install to fix the broadband or something.
It won't remain stable no matter what I do... and no one has any solutions
tips, thoughts or ideas? Really regretting this purchase now... It's been a
month and I still cannot get a stable connection. This is ridiculous.

You may want to check out this link (https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h812-firmwares/) for an H81220X Bell/Virgin kdz (H81220x_00_1122.kdz) and use LGUP-NEW to install it. It might help but if not, you may be facing a hardware issue ...
Solved lg g4 losing signal
I bought my lg g4 K450 and within days l noticed my phone was losing signal constantly. By the grace of God l tried this and it worked.
Go to settings---Then to Network---To more---To Mobile networks----To network operators. Select search network. All available networks will be displayed after a thorough scan. Select your network provider with a WCDMA instead of GSM and it will register it. After it done registering, restart the phone. and u are good to go. It worked for me, if it works for u give glory to God.

Hey Guys,
Moved from the original pixel to the S9. On the pixel you could turn on WiFi calling through an option on the phone dialer. I can't see the same option on this dialer. Went into Vodafone and they told me that the phone defaults to WiFi calling when the signal is poor. Is this the case or am I being fobbed off? Making calls is really poor when in my house.
Cheers
It needs to be switched on in Connections/WiFi calling in Settings.
i believe it only works it the phone is bought from Vodafone - i know i asked them once and said only Vodafone phones can do wi-fi calling
Bobbed into three today to ask about it even unlocked handsets should have the Wi-Fi calling option she said wait for the samsung update which is out on Friday so hopefully all handsets follow suit

This seems to be carrier dependant. With a three SIM I do it see the option but I can if I switch to an EE one.

I have wifi calling available on my s9 plus which I bought direct from Samsung, go to the dialer, click the 3 dots in the top right corner. Then select settings, scroll to the bottom and you will see the wifi calling option which can be toggled on or off
It's not on mine I'm on three UK but on BTU handset
I'm hoping the update on Friday will give me the option
Sent from my SM-G965F using XDA Premium HD app
Ok so here's the kicker...the option appeared and I turned it on. Since then I have factory reset my phone (massive battery drain). Upon booting back up the option had disappeared again. Spoken to Vodafone and they have disabled and enabled it in my account but still no option to turn it on on my phone. Also got the march security update last night and still no option. This is driving me crazy
I've also got an S9 direct from Samsung (BTU), on Vodafone UK
- I'm assuming because they allowed WiFi calling on the S6, S7 and S9 with non-Vodafone firmware, that they'll allow it on the S9. It's the only thing I really need.
I hate carrier firmware, but would flash for WiFi calling as my signal at home is rubbish - I flashed my S8 on Three to get WiFi calling and VoLTE. But I'm a bit scared to flash the S9 on Vodafone in case I get the German CSC issue crop-up (does anyone know exactly what conditions cause this to happen?)
I'm not actually too fussed about VoLTE on Vodafone as their 3G signal is pretty strong everywhere (apart from at my house!), but with Three VoLTE was vital to get a reliable signal in a lot of places.
What is this update on Friday (today?) - is this confirmed or is this just something that the Vodafone staff (or Three?) are fobbing people off with? First I've heard of it.
And it's gone again...trying to explain to the "technical" guys at the call centre results in me losing my temper and them supposedly ringing me back in 1 hours time because it will be fixed... Seriously getting p****d off!!!
Any further news on this?
I've got the toggle set to on, but still no wifi calling (just says not connected to network when trying to phone). I have also noticed the toggle switch appear and disappear at will - normally restarting the phone gets it back
So I'm guessing the only "fix" is to flash the three firmware on it?

Hi, i checked the Three website and the s9 doesn't yet show as compatible for Three wifi calling, i'm assuming that when they do it'll get enabled via a carrier settings update or something for unlocked phones (my unlocked iPhone worked this way).
For a list of the compatible handsets got to the website, not sure what the rules are about posting links so search for 'three wifi calling' and it's the top result in google.
True it doesn't list them, but upon speaking with three they state the device is supported for WiFi calling, but only if purchased directly through three. Reason for this is the device them comes with there carriers software to enable the feature.

Ah thanks, in that case it's false hope for me and i'm now completely stuck! really don't want to flash firmware.....
I'm on O2 and what they have you do is download My O2. Select the option to enable 4G and WiFi calling and it checks compatibility and activates it within 24 hours. Then follow the guide in this thread to enable WiFi calling.
The only problem is I can't tell if it's working or not. It does appear that the line is open longer. My current router doesn't provide the depth required to monitor traffic on devices connected to it. Annoying.
There seems to be a software issue with the s9 and wifi calling. For me, its available (Icon shows in taskbar) , then next minute it's gone. After a reboot it comes back. I made a wifi call when I saw the icon again, and it switched to 4g mid call and the icon didn't come back again until after yet another reboot. It always bombs out pretty quickly after a reboot. I woke up this morning and saw the icon return on it's own this time (hadn't rebooted since last night) only for it to then disappear yet again. It's very buggy. Got an iphone here too which annoyingly works flawlessly with wifi calling so it's not an issue with my router.
Wifi calling
I just pull my notification panel down all the way and wifi calling is just there I'm assuming you have to be connected to use it. It would be good if it was able to use wifi signals while you were out without having to be connected. Touch wood my calls have been good so I only use it at home when phone reception is not as strong

On a U.K. DUOs model on O2 WiFi calling is fine.
Do remember the phone is a bit picky about the WiFi network and at some places just wont enable it.

Hello, I tried searching on XDA and elsewhere but could not find an answer so I hoping to receive help by writing my issue here.
I have bought two POCO F3's 128GB & 256GB on Amazon & Aliexpress respectively.
They both have the same issue when using mobile data (4g) loading websites and doing voice & | video calls like FB messenger there are interruptions like for a second there is no sound or video freezes. It does not happen on wifi or other phones.
I tried resetting APN, selecting proffered network to LTE, rebooting, switching SIM slot, resetting wifi, mobile and bluetooth settings. Updated both phones to MIUI Global 12.5.1 still no luck.
Country Lithuania (EU) carrier TELE2
We really like the phones, but this is pretty annoying as we do a lot of video calls due to quarantine and what not.
Amazon suggested to replace the phone but seeing as two of them having the same issue it will most likely will not help.
Anyone experienced these issues and came up with solution?
From what u described, seems to me is a bandwidth/mobile data speed problem. Looks like is not enough bandwidth for video call to work properly. So, what is ur bandwidth provided by ISP? What mobile data plan had from ur telephony provider? Maybe ur mobile data signal is low in the place where u make the call from. It can be so many reasons for the issue u confront with, other than a problem with phone itself (a hardware/software issue).
you can also try the latest china stable firmware 12.5.4

Hi, ty for reply. That should not be an issue, reception is great and we tried it in multiple locations. Our previous devices Iphone 6s/ Poco F1 worked flawlesly with the same carier.
Here is speed test done on mobile data.
Any other ideas?
Found this thread here and I found a solution. Apparently there's an issue with network interruptions in general, especially on phone calls. This can be avoided by switching on VoLTE and WiFi-Calling. This is what I found out over time.
Here's the fun part though: Through a little bit of research this turned out to be a vodafone-problem. I am just guessing you guys will be either also on vodafone or on the corresponding bandwidth in your country.
It seems to be a bug in the F3, but also something that happens when VoLTE is not activated for your SIM card. The phone will try to use VoLTE and this connection will fail, forcing the connection to reset. It will be back in 10-20 seconds, but this is of course super annoying whenever a stable connection is needed (like phone calls...)
Enter *#*#86583#*#* (86583 = VOLTE on dialpad) on your phone. and it will give you a feedback that the carrier check has been disabled. Note that this doesn't mean that VoLTE has been disabled. Checking the network for the capability is disabled then, which makes the setting visible on the SIM card settings. Same works for VoWifi btw.
Try playing around with those settings and see if the connection drops persist. I have no logical explanation why this is happening because what I am telling you is obviously call-related - and I do realize that what you're describing is about the data connection. For me this was related however and solved my issue.
Possible solutions:
a) try to get your service provider to switch on VoLTE for you (this worked for me). You're going to need to call support for that. They will reset your SIM card in the process. Reboot your phone and be done with it.
b) If a) is not possible, deactivate VoLTE in the menu that you activated with the code above. If you're lucky, this will stop the phone from trying to get this type of connection working, even though it's not available. This is broken exception-handling on the phone's side and Xiaomi promised to fix it. They are aware of the bug (since Aug 20th btw) and promised to push a fix into the next MIUI release
c) play with the settings and try to get the phone to not use alternative protocols, just 3G and 4G, also deactivate Wifi-Calling.
Hope this information will help somebody. If all goes well, Xiaomi will fix it and this will behavior will be gone in the next release.
same issue for me with 12.5.7
data interruptions all the time and full signal loss
very disappointed with this device from the day i got it.
O thought I'm the only one facing this problem.
It's so annoying to get an interrupted connection in the middle of the game.
not only game, and calls, i have too much trouble to get throught a call.
Hello all,
i was also affected by a similar issue.
In my case the symptoms were:
On mobile data/5G some apps would be accessing the internet but others wont..
I was able to overcome this by resetting the access point settings and then applying the ones found here:
Cytamobile-Vodafone Cyprus APN Settings for Xiaomi Poco F3 GT - APN Settings
apn.how
I hope it helps...
My fix for this occasional issue is to set the phone to '3g' only in network settings, then flick it back to '5g'. It seems to be area specific for me. Very bizarre.

I have the same problem, it helps to have the settings volte and vowifi enabled. Sometimes it looks low cell signal and loosing the connection.
Has anyone return for service the device?
It looks like we still have this problem, my F3 modem is crashing every few hours especially when it switches bands, very annoying.

It really is! We need a bug bounty for this
Hey I ran into the same problem in Hungary Vodafone Poco F3, 14.07 MIUI
4g net is working flawlessly but
Network connection is lost when start dialing
Nobody can reach me on phone
Enter *#*#86583#*#* (86583 = VOLTE on dialpad)
VoLTE select option turn on/off
Enter *#*#869434#*#*
VoWiFi select option turn on/off
I tried to switch on/off both but no solution just yet
sby has answer for this?
Where should I post this problem to be solved?
I also have this problem and I am from Iran. My mobile ROM is the global version. It seems that this problem is caused by the Poco F3 mobile hardware itself. If anyone finds a solution, please let me know, thanks.
