Pixel C Vs. Huawei Mediapad M3 10.1" - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys, I'd like your opinion. I have a Pixel C & Pixelbook. Is the Huawei Mediapad M3 Lite 10.1" better than the Pixel C? By better I mean faster graphics processing and gaming performance. The iPad Pro has the best gaming performance, but my gaming progress does not sync over from Play Store and iOS.
I mostly use the Pixel C to play Mobile Legends Bang Bang, but it lags in team fights on the Pixel C and Pixelbook for different reasons. I also purchased a Galaxy Tab S3 9.7"... but that was the most trash tablet ever and lags worse than the Pixel C. Games lag on the Pixelbook because the Android app container implementation is not great...The Pixelbook benchmarks at around 182k on Antutu, same as my iPad pro 12.9". I just want a fast android tablet that is comparable to a iPad Pro 10.5" or even just iPhone 7 Plus.
I'm not quite sure why games lag on the Pixel C because it benchmarks on Antutu for 125,000. Do you think I will like the Huawei Meidapad M3 10.1"? Will it perform better than the Pixel C Tegra X1?

When I compare the specs and Geekbench results, M3 Lite seems much worse than Pixel C.
I guess MediaPad M3 8.4 could be faster, it has a lot higher performance in Geekbench, but I am not sure about the specific games.

Overall speed

Would you say that the ZTE Axon 7 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the ZTE Axon 7 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

One of the snappiest phones I've used. On par, or better than the Nexus 6p.
The 820 chipset seems like a decent boost coming from the 801

I do experience lag. It's not as snappy as I would expect. https://community.zteusa.com/thread/12239
I recently returned my Note 7 with all bloat disabled I could manage to get lag and skipped frames every few seconds... the Axon 7 is much faster, with almost zero lag during everyday use.
I've had it a little over 36 hours.. This thing is blazing fast AND more importantly, SMOOTH. Transitions don't feel like knee jerk reactions.. When you press the home button or recent button to me it feels like the phone said "I was already beginning to do that."
I was previously using a note 4 (Samsung, it's funny how I have to clarify this as there are several other note devices from other oems now!) And this axon 7 runs laps around my note 4 regardless if my phone was on touchwiz rom, stock, rooted, overclocked, custom Rom, aosp Rom... Still axon 7 smoking my note 4..
Best thing about the phone for me is that I can put it through some heavy usage without it becoming a mini furnace in my hand. Coming from a Oneplus One and Nexus 6p which both had issues where once the phone got hot it seemed to slow down a lot, the Axon 7 hasn't had this issue. Not sure if it'll suffer the same if it does get hot but so far I haven't had any slowdowns due to excessive heat.
I notice on my phone that it thermal throttles a lot. Unless it's cool at around 30 degrees or cooler, it won't hit 2.15 ghz and will generally top around 1.5 on the high speed cores. My antutu scores range from 70k to 140k.
Coming from a LG G4 H812, this phone is pure unadulterated butter! Android doesn't get any smoother than this. Absolutely no complains about overall performance.

How does it compare to the n7.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using XDA-Developers mobile app
Compared to my previous phone with a Snapdragon 801...the Axon is a rocket.
device speed is fantastic, performance is been off the charts .
I used to have an Honor 8. Compared to Honor 8 it is a little bit slower
However I haven`t seen any phone as fast as Honor 8
Been enjoying mine. It's fast at anything device based. Once you go online the network can make it lag but no phone can help that. I'd like to have a play with an SD835 or Kirin 970 device but suspect I wouldn't feel so much benefit compared to coming from my Mate 7 and Find 7 up to the Axon 7.
Interested to see what ZTE bring to the market with the replacement of the 7.

Heavy use endurance

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Huawei Mediapad M3's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.

Heavy usage always impacts the battery. I get a few hours when I play games and it is good enough for me.

I have a question.I'm planing to get the m3 10.1 lte. What are u meaning for "heavy usage" ? I will play with games (gameloft) or as syberia so I dont think they are realy heavy (with a note 4 syberia 2 I was able to play with 3-4 hours) but olso streaming tv or divx.At the same time I think to get a SAMSUNG SM-T819 10.1 lte (but not sure with will habe the bettar performance with battery life /streaming .What do u think? Huawei or samsung?
@helen2: I only recommend the 8 inches Mediapad M3. The 10 inches Mediapad (Youth or Lite) have issues with touchscreen and are not as smooth as the 8 inches M3. You could do a lot with the 8 inches ME. It will be easier to carry around, performance is still very good. If you want an alternative, the S2 is not a bad choice. Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus is also quite good. I do not know having a 10 inches tablet is a must. I had a 10 inches tablet in the past and I find 8 inches to be the perfect size for watching anything on it and still small enough to carry around.
Heavy usage means graphical intensive games like Mortal Kombat X, Real Racing 3, shooters and so on.
@tmihai20 ok no no i dont llike lenovo .Yes I was thinking to get the m3 8.4 inches but..I must look in the shp I have a note 4 5.5 so maybe 8.4 wll be to small,I think the best is 9.7 that I'm meaning using it as a alternative of a netbook.I will have a loook tomorow in shop if the have the 8.4
Thank's
@helen2: it is a shame you do not want a Lenovo tablet, because some people I know have returned the M3 in favor of the Tab 4 8 Plus.. It is also recommended all over Reddit as an alternative to M3. I have not used any Samsung tablets, but the model you specified (SAMSUNG SM-T819) is from 2016 and may not get updates past Nougat.
Huawei also announced Mediapad M5, that will have Quick Charge, the only thing missing from the M3. The SoC will be HiSilicon Kirin 960s, not the Kirin 970, it will not have audio jack and it will have a Type C connector. It may be worth waiting for the M5, if you do not mind the missing audio jack.

Crazy decision by Huawei, leaving the Audio Jack out on a tablet. :crying:
@Masteryates: one of the dumbest decisions. But hey, why not force everybody to use the damned adapters, so they can damage their tablets more easily and make them buy new ones? There is absolutely no justification to remove audio jack on a tablet.

Agreed Tmihai, :highfive:
In many ways it could be argued that Tablets should have 2 headphone jacks to allow 2 people to watch when your on a train etc. You can get an analogue audio splitter but doubt you can get similar for USB-C.

After the recent update i could say i was able to feel some heat only while playing games or some heavy usage.
I dont see any specific abnormal heating issues.
i'd like to say heating issue is not an issue on this phone. but very sure ppl will jump in and say they have this and it's bad, etc...
for me. i play games like Mobile Legends and Arena of Valor. no issues. no heat.
but i know that some actually complain of some heat after recording 4k video on the phone for a long time.
i've never had to record in 4K. never feel the need to. most devices can't play 4k anyway. my tv is only 1080 and my phone's only 2K (the honor 8 Pro)?!? but ya, ppl who do video editing might do that. then again, if they are into video editing, i doubt they'd be using a smartphone as recording device... so, in real world practical sense... i think it's a good phone. no heat issue.

i'm using the honor 8 Pro and i'd lie if i say there is no heat. there is when i use 4G and play games like MOBA. but usually, it's very, very little and at times it does get more only when the area has got poor reception.
is this phone "warmer" than other phones? no. if anything, i think it stays cooler than some phones I have used, including Samsung Note 2 and Note 7 or even the OnePlus One.
it does not get terribly warm or anything like that. i don't use 4K recording. so, not sure how warm the phone gets.
hope that answers your Q.

It will not heat in regular browsing and gaming.
Extended usage of camera beyond 15 or 20 minutes can make it warm and not heat.
I played real racing 3 for about half an hour and it didn't heat up at all.
The thing is people don't know the difference between heat and warm.
A device will get warm of extended usage and under extensive load. More so, if it's made of metal.

Seen that many times. People will say it's heating though it is just lukewarm.
I too had a oneplus 3. I did tons of review hunting and finally settled for Honor 8 pro. Been a month now almost, i can say i m impressed with the device. Good luck to u!!
If you have One Plus 3. You SHOULD'NT waste your money on Honor 8 Pro.
Trust me! There is ZERO difference in performance in day to day usage.
may be 10% better in Benchmarks.
Games actually perform better in OPO3 due do having an Adreno gpu and HD resolution.
Camera benefits from having more details due to 16 MP.
Battery full charge in 40 odd minutes compared to 2 hours plus on Honor 8 Pro.
H265 10 BIT HARDWARE DECODING in SD 820 compared to NADA in Kirin 960 (In short, h265 10 bit videos don't play).
So unless you're desperate for a card slot or IR blaster, there's little to NO reason for you to get Honor 8 Pro.

- Kirin 960 performs better than sd820 on op3 and some benchmarks shows it performs about the same as sd835.
- About the gpu yes, adreno a bit better. But dont worry, because later on oreo update u can change res to 1080p or 720p, so gaming performance will improve.
- Nicest design for honor 8 pro.
- Camera a lot better in honor 8 pro, bokeh effects, more details even its just 12mp compare to 16mp op3. Camera on op3 are noisy, check the comparison on website.
- Nice 2k screen on honor 8 pro.
- Battery a lot better than op3.
So apart from sd card slot and ir blaster, theres a lot things better in honor 8 pro.

My young brother owns op3. Honor 8 pro camera wins all the way. The overall quality, dynamic range, contrast, sharpening, white balance, color accurate, low noise picture all wins on honor 8 pro side. Low lights picture also better than op3. Compare it with op3, pixel peeping shows op3 has some grainier and noisy photo, even my brother agrees with it. Oh did u try the wide aperture mode? Results are really nice. About the media format, u can always install mx player from play store. Sure battery charging a bit slow because of the big 4000mah capacity, but I dont mind that as it last longer in moderate usage.
Well everyone has their own opinion anyway, so heres mine. Chill.
As for me, yes, dont buy the honor 8 pro yet because honor v10 is coming out next month. Better wait for it, a lot improvement than honor 8 pro with the same price tag.

I only specifically mentioned about details in pictures due to having more mega pixel. No cure for that.
And I am talking about MX player only. Please try playing H265 10 bit file on it with a Honor 8 Pro.
Then do the same with Oneplus 3. You'll be surprised! One of them WONT play. One of them will play silky smooth.
Also see in settings/decoder which of the formats are hardware accelerated in both.
Kirin 960 might be raw power (Only CPU). But Snapdragon is like super refined and overall well rounded.
Performance wise no real world difference. It would be total waste to upgrade.
I am not giving my opinion but simply stating the facts as I've experienced; to help the OP make wise decision.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 6GB variant compares with Mi Max 3 6GB variant

Hi guys,
How Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 6GB variant compares with Mi Max 3?
I feel Mi Max 3 will be on positive side for
1. bigger battery (5500 mAh vs 5000 mAh)
2. quick charge 3
3. IR blaster
Whereas Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 6GB variant will be on positive side for
1. Near stock android (vs MIUI)
I use Nexus 6. I do a lot reading on it. Many times I read in split screen mode in two apps (say two instances of Microsoft Word, one through ES Parallel Space). Nexus 6 has broader screen (16:9 ratio). It was launched in 2014, but still have higher resolution and pixel density than both Max 3 and Zenfone!!! This makes it best to read in split screen mode in two apps. So I feel bigger screen of Mi Max 3 will be suitable for this purpose.
Also its stock android is great. Split screen functionality of Stock Naugat is better than that of MIUI.
I also feel MIUI provides better control over backgound apps and hence battery. I live with my four year old Nexus 6 in always on battery saver mode. This helps to extend battery life to at least 1 day. If I dont use battery saver mode, it will barely last for 15 hours. Also my Nexus 6 lags quite a lot now. Opening some 40 page word docs takes at least 5 sec. Will all this be gone with both Max 3 or Zenfone?
Also Nexus 6 had great camera with OIS. Mi Max 3 have AI camera while Asus Zenfone have 16MP phone. Dont know which one will have better camera at least better than Nexus 6?
So was guessing what will be best choice for me.
Hi there. I think you are comparing apples with oranges. MM3 is 6.9, Max Pro M1 is 5.99. It is a perfect hardware match for redmi note 5 - so there you should compare. Regards!

yeah I know there is 0.9" difference.
But I am not trying to compare them with each other, but with my usage scenario. Thats why I explained how I usually use it.
Usage scenario 1: Two Microsoft Word documents in split screen mode each 40+ page.
Usage scenario 2: Satisfying camera (at least better than Nexus 6)
I believe broader screen like Nexus 6 serves better when it comes to my usage scenario 1. Zenfone seems a bit narrower. In fact, in todays market, most 6" phone is narrower than 6" Nexus 6 due to their 18:9 ratio (Nexus 6 is 16:9). Also two instances of Word should work smoothly in split screen. My 4 year old Nexus 6 lags considerably at this. I dont know what is culprit: old processor (but its 2.6GHz quad core)? slower / smaller RAM? or battery?
On paper, M1 is good but users report M1 has some problem included multitouch problem, not so good on battery/matterial quality
Ho boy.. I have Nexus 6 too. Was my daily driver until I ditched it for good with my Max 2. The worst thing about Nexus 6 was the camera, it's barely useable. Also fingerprint, the battery and SoC efficiency, I would trade AMOLED 1440p and front firing speakers for those any time of the day. Once you are in 10+ hours SOT territory you don't ever want to go back.
Also MIUI is not that bad at all, it's not as intrusive and forceful as Huawei EMUI. It looks clean and still have material design language.

Hi. I didn't come from OP3, I have used Mi 5 which also has SD820 like Op3 So I can't tell about OS optimization as OP3 has Oxygen OS. Battery life is definately better than mi 5. I usually got 5.30to 6.00hr sot with Mi 5 whereas now with Redmi note 5 ai I get 9-11hour sot but remember Redmi note 5 ai/pro comes with 4000mah battery whereas Mi 5 or OP3 has 3000mah battery. Gaming sot is different. Gaming is more less same but Graphics is slightly lower than Mi 5. I didn't notice any performance issue with RN5 as I use less apps. Multi tasking is fine. Sound quality relatively same. If you want Full view display and battery life then go for Redmi note 5 pro or ai with higher rams. Otherwise stick with your OP3. Hope it helps.
Cheers.
comming from op3T -> way better battery life, videos are crap, camera is slow and slightly worse, occasional stutter and this phone may require a little bit more patience than the OP3.
