I have a G5 Cedric XT1671 DUALSIM that comes by default encrypted and when flashing some custom ROM with Oreo the encryption prevents me from accessing the system. I have searched in xda but the only that I found doesn't work, I formatted the cell phone from scratch, flashed the stock and tried to flash from a custom 7.1.2 to go to 8 and I could not. Does anyone know how I could remove the encryption?
Currently I have Viper OS 7.1.2
Flash stock firmware and then twrp, after that install this via twrp: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298927206, then reboot the device and flash your custom rom.
REMEMBER; If you are flashing android 8.1, you must have a 64bit enabled twrp installed rather than the regular one, this does not apply to 8.0.
It happens to me that I think the same thing, flash stock, then installs the recovery, and when you get it you ask for the encryption key, cancel it, then do a full wipe and install the ROM

hey there, i just bought nexus 5x and it was updated to latest official android 8.0, now i want to flash custom roms, steps i made: unlocked bootloader, flashed twrp, disabled forced encryption and dm-verity (found somewhere boot.img on xda which disables that), now i downloaded custom rom(tried crdroid and dirty unicorns both 7.1 android) and , gapps arm64 7.1, and latest supersu. flashed these files whith that order and got stuck at google splash logo. not even boot animation is played. tried without and with supersu, and custom kernels. still no luck. official google system boots fine though. so, hope you help me guys
You can't flash 7.1 ROMs over 8.0 partitions and vice versa.
If you want to flash 8.0 ROMs, flash the stock OPR6 images FIRST. If you want to flash <7.1.2 ROMs, flash the latest N factory images.
For me, it was enough to flash the Vendor Image other than the newest one... (or maybe the newest 2, I tried the July one)
Hey, i hope, this is the right Thread i am posting this.
I have a Problem: First, i am into all this Custon Rom and Twrp thing and so on, but i lost my eye on it, in the past months or so and now my Nougat based Custom Rom (FreedomOS) is behaving strange, so i decided to update to a Pie based Custom Rom, but here comes the Point:
I am running Twrp 3.2.1-2 (As far as i know) and as i said FreedomOS (Nougat) and also my Device is decrypted.
Now i want to Update to LiquidOS based on Pie and read so much about this encryption and decryption stuff and about other things like the required Pie firmware to use current Twrp by Codeworkx.
Sooo, can someone pls give a detailed Guide, what i need and what i have to do, to install the new Rom an dont end up with a Bricked Device.
Thank You
Noone has Instructions for me?
Probably the safest way is to wipe your data partition and flash the stock nougat rom you were on before FreedomOS. Let the stock recovery override TWRP and take stock OTA updates until you get to 9.0.3. Once on Pie 9.0.3 flash the latest TWRP by blu_spark or codeworkx through adb, then format and decrypt. You'll need no verity V3 or Disable DM-Verity and ForceEncrypt 2.0 zips to stay decrypted. Then, follow the instructions for flashing LiquidRemix Pie. (I suggest you research the latest custom pie roms; there are far better choices than LR pie IMHO. The dev who made oreo builds of LR has moved on.)

Thank you, that did work, i am now on BlissRom and everything seems working, had a bit of a trouble, cause i thought, i am still decrypted, after format everything so i flashed no-verity, but as soon as i realized it, i flashed everything again and it worked.
Using they way through OOS was indeed safer, but also took way longer, but hey, it worked and thats the point that matters
Moto G5, rooted, bootloader open, 16GB, TWRP 3.2.1
Hi,
I using / used my G5 with Android 7x, 8x and Lineage 7x. Current I use Android 8.1.
I did from every ROM version a recovery with TWRP (Boot, Data and System) after the first start.
So I got these TWRP recoveries:
1.) Android 7.0 (Partitions: Boot, Data and System)
2.) Android Lineage 7.1.2 (Partitions: Boot, Data and System)
3.) Android 8.1 (Partitions: Boot, Data and System)
Can I switch between these recoverys without any problems? (Is a Wipe (data, System needed?)
Or is it necessary to install first the original ROM version and then one of my TWRP recoverys?
Thanks for any help

You can switch to roms with the backup just wipe dalvik, system, data, catch. And then restore the backup.
Short way to get the last Security update for my OPP28.85-16

Thanks for your infomation.
I switched between my TWRP recoveries without any problems.
At the end I switched back to Android 8.1 (OPP28.85-16, Security version 2018 August 1st)
Well, before I open a new post, maybe I get the needed information here.
With my modified version (Android 8.1, OPP28.85-16, Security version 2018 August 1st) I don´t get newer
Security version automatically, nor I found a patch-version I can use manually.
So, I thought, if I am switching back to my older TWRP-version (Android 7.0) I will get all updates at the end, but it didn´t work.
So, I have to restore Stock Firmware Android 7.0 totally (DOWNGRADING FROM A FIRMWARE NEWER THAN OPP28.85-16 Omit these lines: fastboot flash partition gpt.bin and fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img).
Or is there a shorter way?
Thanks for any help
Hi guys I wanna ask you if someone tried to downgrade from android 10 to 9, I really didn't like the gestures and other things in new android.
Right now in don't even have TWRP installed.
It's possible to just download the official rom and flash it with the normal procedure :
I mean :
Local upgrade and upgrade with the file?
I'm really retired about flashing customs roms, that's why I even don't have TWRP installed.
As far as I'm aware your only options are:
1. Use the unbrick tool for the 9.0 software (wipes everything) https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/op5t-collection-unbrick-tools-t3898890
2.find a rollback firmware on oneplus site (will wipe everything but can do through local upgrade option) https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117903378
3. Flash twrp (rather easy through fastboot) wipe system, data, cache but not vendor then install the desired oos software. (Will retain all the files on ur internal like downloads, images, folders etc and once the software has installed it replaces twrp back with stock recovery)
Twrp
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-8-0-8-1-t3729673
ROM
https://www.oneplus.com/uk/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574156155944
Personally the 3rd is the easiest and only choice for keeping files.
But if you don't mind losing everything then the second is the same as how you updated to the beta from what I can gather. if you want everything to be 100% like day one then the unbrick tool will flash everything including firmware, radios and so on but has to be installed on a Windows computer and then plugged in to phone
Have you had any luck downgrading? I am also not liking 10.
If you have twrp back up you can revert back without losing data.
Instal via adb twrp recovery again, copy oos 9.0.11 to root then dirty flash it , flash magisk if you dont want to lose twrp, then restore only data from backup. Remove pin before start anything.
AFAIK, you can't downgrade with stock OOS recovery
I'm now on 9.0.11 from OB3
Backup your data/apps, remove your fingerprint or PIN, flash TWRP, then install 9.0.11
hi there, i just picked up the second hand Taimen.
I've already unlock bootloader & root by magisk.
also have latest twrp installed...
phone at stock A11 & encrypted status.
i need some info as this is a/b device like my MiA2.
1. if i wanna flash custom Rom, do i have to format internal to get decrypted? or there's any options to just flash DFE zip like my poco F1 so i don't need to format internal.
2. where can i get complete guide to flash custom Rom?
3. is it mandatory to reflash twrp after flash any of custom Rom or kernel to stick twrp as permanent recovery?
thanks in advance
fyi, i have no PC. I've done all that mentioned above with other phone method (use Bugjaeger app)
got it...
so it's exactly like MIA2 & i don't need to format internal (factory reset).
now running DotOS, root, TWRP installed & encrypted.
everything works like a charms
