I upgraded to the Pixel 2 XL, 2 issues - Proximity, notification volume - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Hello guys, I've made a small video explaining my issues.
Do you guys have any of these issues? If so, I'd like to ask you to report it to the Google team.
Do you have any possibly working work-around or any other solution other than mine? I'm sure it's not possible to fix the notification issue without rooting and flashing (and I wish to stay on the latest, pure android) but I thought that you guys might have a few good tips or recommendations.

Same issues I have sent them feedback

If you are willing to root and install xposed, gravity box gives you the ability to separate ringtone and notification volume. Works great. Actually, gravity box just works great...

[Q] Gyroscope emulation - which Kernel works?

Hi,
I recently got another alarm clock that has a flip-to-snooze feature which I like.
Now it does not work on the Ace 2 it seems. Now I tried different apps and in all the Flip-to snooze feature does not work.
Beig aware that the Ace 2 does not has a Gyroscope built-in, still it should be able to be emulated using the magneto sensor and accelerometer.
Anyone knows how to make this work? (Am on Cm11 now, but I never remember it worked ever on my Ace 2). My guess would be it depends on the Kernel but might be wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

Have you tried sensorsimulator?

Hi, not sure i understand what you guys mean?!

Anyone can confirm any CM rom working with flip-to snooze?
Would be very muc aèppreciated, thanks!!
So just trying out different ROMS and original and while the sensor indications are correct,
NO reaction to flipping the phone whatsoever, be it silencing a incoming call, or rejectig a call, or for the alarm.
Anyone got the same problem with the Ac2 2 or HAS it working anc could tell me which ROM?
Thanks a lot!

Cubot X15

Hi,
I have been using the Cubot X15, I have noticed that notifications will not always work on various apps.
Is there a way around this? Im not familiar with the Cubot so please excuse me if this has already been solved elsewhere.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Yeah the best thing to do is flash the belulah custom ROM. It fixes everything and makes the phone work properly. I owned mine for a year constantly keeping WhatsApp etc in my recent list so that I'd get notifications. Just Google 'needrom cubot x15'. There's 3 roms available, official, kdm or something (which sucks) and belulah.
Give me a shout if you get stuck.

So how'd the notifications going now that you've had a few days to try it out?

Brilliantly thanks for all the help and advice.
For anyone else looking how to do this, check out this video. the video only shows you notifications working but the description has instructions. https://youtu.be/DTBDM4iZSZo

Screen wake lag only on custom roms

Just add the title says I've been having this issue ever since i started flashing custom ROMs. This only happens in custom ROMs with either custom kernel (flash) or built in kernel. At the most random times when i go to wake my device the screen will stay black but the phone is still responsive. Led light still flashing from notifications I'm trying to check i can still toggle flashlight but holding the power button and etc. It's just the dam screen refuses to wake until around 20/30 seconds!! No one else is having this problem in the rom threads which would be DU help thread, NOS, and AquariOS THREADS. I've tried everything to remedy the problem including clean flashes whipping caches no modifications. Nothing has worked. Just wondering if anyone experienced the same thing and how to solve the problem. Thanks in advance.

I've seen the issue of which you speak several times in the threads. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a good solution to the problem. If it were me, I'd RMA that thing. Are you having the issue as well just running stock+root? ?

That's why i posted here because i don't wanna keep spamming the threads. I would've thought to RMA but this never ever happens on stock+root+flash kernel. It's so frustrating because it's so hard to pin point what's going on so I'll try a clean flash tonight after work and then i will only install Flash kernel and magisk (those can't be the culprits and i would refuse to believe if anyone said otherwise) I'm also only gonna install my basic most needed apps it has to be one of my user apps not playing nice with custom ROMs but every single app i have running right now on AquariOS is the same exact apps and setup i have on my twrp backup of stock. This just don't make sense. Stock is really really nice on this phone but i still prefer custom ROMs for certain much needed features that i either can't get from stock or have to install some mod or something. Thanks for keeping tabs in me tho Badger!!?? Your a good man really appreciate your help bro

That's definitely an odd deal for sure. Like you, I run all my same apps on AquariOS as I do on stock+root, however I don't have the same problem as you. And don't worry bruh, I'm not keeping tabs on you. I just try to help with problems when I see them. Keep us posted on your findings my friend

I also saw it might be to do with smart lock, have you got any of them set? It is being looked into so dont worry you are not alone. Last time it happened to me I just added another fingerprint and then it was fine.
Just a thought, but this is known to be an issue with various immersive modes. Are using immersive modes on these custom roms, or is it already built in?

IM is built in on some of the roms, however, you can choose to enable them or not. It's a feature I've never used, and haven't had any of these issues, so you may be onto something my friend ?

Ok ok you guys are probably right?? I always use immersive mode on all three custom ROMs and I also use it in stock ROM via custom navigation bar app but line I said stock ROM never produces these issues. So I will check smart lock but I've never used it and I will turn off immersive mode and I will add 1 or 2 more fingerprints and then report back. THANKS AGAIN GUYS.

The Custom Navigation Bar app dev has said that they identified and fixed that issue in their app. That would explain why you don't experience the issue while on stock using that app, but do have it on custom ROMs using some other immersive mode method.

That explains so much! Thank you for clearing that up for me. I've already disabled immersive mode from Coral reef settings in Aquarius ROM and haven't had the issue all day. I hope devs can fix immersive mode in custom ROMs as well but i can live without it for now. Thanks again man.

Questions

Full screen gesture lag, Dolby and Google camera, ARB/brick
I heard the first can be fixed by a EU software update(8.9.2? But at the cost of getting ARB). Should ARB matter for custom roms later or if we never have a reason to downgrade back to an older miui?
Not sure if I've read about anyone getting Dolby to work yet only v4a. The speakers should be loud enough without either but the point of them is to change the way music sounds with bluetooth/earphones. I've never had any luck getting v4a settings to stick so I always used Dolby on every phone.
Miui stock camera might be good enough if there isn't a fully working gcam. Gcam mod is usually better than most stock cameras I've tried though.
I plan to order from trading shenzhen with eu rom pre-installed because I heard global and China rom has too many problems and I don't want to fix with many steps right after buying. Are there problems people run into with eu rom as well? As in something not many have mentioned much yet but could be a problem later on.
I think those are all my main worries before buying this device. Ty to anyone who can answer them!

No full screen gesture lag. If so, run Nova Launcher and use One Plus gestures with hide nav bar. Not sure about Dolby, but Viper works perfect. Google camera works well with the latest from the Google cam thread for mi max 3. As I said before, I've got you covered with installation help. If you want me to walk you through the above, I will do that as well.
I remotely helped another user who had no clue how to install anything. He's good now. :good:
Edit: excellent Viper settings I'm currently using on latest material fx version downloaded and installed from magisk directly: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...ound-mod-viper4android-best-settings-t3838605

Thanks for the help again. This is already starting to sound like the perfect phone for me before I even buy it. Connectivity issues not a concern

Any custom ROM for Pixel 2 XL that has separate notification volume?

As per the title. It's something I really miss from my Samsung phones.
Yeah I thought that was going to be a thing added in pie but doesn't work how I thought it was going to work

POSP has this Incorporated in the ROMs, but it's not available for the Pixel 2 XL.
If you still are on Oreo there is an xposed module.
I thought most aosp based custom ROMs has that. I can't recall which one has it, or which hasn't. But, I see that it's there in my current rom, that is HavocOS.
There is a toggle to isolate the notification volume.

I have the same thing in AquariOS rom.
Pixel dust has it too. It lets you pick a few.
Sorry mis read. Thought you wanted to be able to adjust separate on the fly. Pixel dust does allow for separate notification volume though too.
Thanks all, looks like I'll be flashing one of the AOSP-based ROMs. I didn't want to spam each ROM thread for an answer.
Mods, you can close this thread as I've received sufficient response to my question.
Like this?
I'm on Colt OS. Killer ROM
