Hello
My stock HTC M9 is stuck in a boot loop.
S-ON
OS 4.30.841.1
I can access the stock recovery mode by 'Reboot to Recovery Mode' then pressing power + volume up when the red triangle appears.
In recovery mode I can Apply update from ADB and Apply update from SD card. Unfortunately can't get ADB to recognise the phone as connected. (probably because USB debugging was not enabled before the phone got stuck in boot loop?)
Anyway have tried to apply the following updates from SD card that I have found links to on these forums
0PJAIMG_HIMA_UHL_L50_SENSE70_Telstra_WWE_1.32.841.7_R_Radio_01.01_U11440261_56.01.50303G_3_F_release_425231_signed.zip
OTA_HIMA_UHL_N70_SENSE80_MR_Telstra_WWE_4.23.841.1_R1-3.38.841.6_release_4967203jqx6xvhwi80vam2.zip
Both come back with the same error
[E:footer is wrong ... E:signature verification failed]
Does anybody have a copy of the stock Telstra RUU for 4.30.841.1 with the correct package verification they would be willing to share?
Also open to any other suggestions to on how to recover this device.
You dont flash in recovery, you flash in download mode..
Rename the 2nd one to 0PJAIMG.ZIP and copy it to an sdcard, put sdcard in the phone and boot into download mode. You should see a prompt at the bottom of the screen to press vol+ to flash.
If you don't get the option then the firmware isn't signed and you'll need to find another one.
The signature has nothing to do with the prompt since that check is the first step of the flashing process after you accepted the prompt.
And flashing the 4.23.841.6 RUU on that phone isn't possible with S-ON. Only RUUs that have a higher version than your phone or 4.30.841.x (with x being any number) RUUs can get flashed without S-OFF in this case since all numbers in front of the SKU (841) and the SKU itself need to match for a downgrade.
Websites like ir-file or easy-firmware might have the needed RUU. Both will require you to pay for the file, though.

Thx Flippy498 that's exactly why I'm asking if anyone on this forum has a Telstra 4.30 RUU they're willing to share!
Anyone... Anyone?
I'll search the web a bit more but not willing to pay for the file as phone is 3 years old.
I noticed that HTC dev site offers the source code for the Telstra 4.30 kernel. Anybody have instructions to turn this into a RU?

That's not possible since no one except HTC has access to the needed signature. And without signature you won't be able to flash the file with S-ON.

Hi everybody,
I have an S-Off HTC Desire running LeeDroid 2.3d. I've also flashed Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.5 as the default recovery for the phone. I have been using an 8GB microSD until I got a 16GB today. I pulled the 8GB out and inserted the 16GB into the phone. However, once i put the 16GB inside the phone, it would no longer boot. The phone no longer boots up into the ROM, and it doesn't boot into Recovery mode as well; it just remains at the white HTC screen. Basically, I can only get into the Bootloader and Fastboot. Does anyone know what might be wrong and how I could fix this? Thanks a lot in advance!!
EDIT: I have since tried flashing different recoveries through Fastboot, but to no avail.
Come on guys I would REALLY appreciate if anyone could help me out with this =)
It boots up with the old 8 GB card?
If yes, you have to partition the new card for the custom ROM and reflash the ROM or restore a nandroid backup.
Sent from my customized HTC Desire using TTP
No, the phone does not boot up even with the old 8GB card. It's the same issue as with the 16GB card.
Do you guys think it would help at all if I tried to remove S-off from the device? I'm getting pretty desperate for ideas so any help is greatly appreciated.
Would anyone know how to remove S-off? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I need the PB99IMG.zip file that downgrades the HBOOT from 0.93.1 down to 0.80 (or any other version would probably do). Is this correct? Does anyone have the file they could link me to? Thanks!
Delete please :/

???? Why??
Does it boot with no sdcard in?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
No, it does not boot at all. I've tried with an SD, without an SD. Even without a SIM
I would suggest running the RUU for your original rom, or one of the WWE ones. This will put your phone back to stock, no root, no s-off.
All of your data will also be wiped.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure how to do that. Can I do that even though I have no access to Recovery mode? If you could give me some instructions and point me in the direction of the file, that would be great!
You can do this if you can get into fastboot.
What are your original rom details? And was your phone branded/which carrier/which country etc..
The more details the better
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Originally, my phone was from Hong Kong. I didn't buy it with a carrier, it was from an electronics store. So basically, it was unbranded and unlocked when I first got it.
Also, I'm really not sure how to do this through Fastboot, or even where to get the files... So yah... Sorry if I'm such an idiot lol
One more thing. I'm not sure if this is relevant but I don't have a goldcard.
OK, short and bundled for you. This is only a guidance list, you'll have to get the details yourself with your google-fu.
- get the android SDK. You'll get adb and fastboot with it.
- install the adb drivers.
- once you got that try "fastboot devices" in your windows command shell.
- it shows your device? OK, you did everything correctly.
- get to flash whatever you like by downloading an img file and flashing it with "fastboot <target location> <img-filename>
Cheers.
Ok another possibly stupid question. I've gone on this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 and have downloaded one of the GSM WWE files. However, it's a .exe file. What do I do with that? I was under the impression that Fastboot only works with .img files? Also, what is the difference between the GSM WWE and the GSM URL files?
I have tried following some instructions I found off Google. It told me to run the RUU .exe file and extract the rom.zip file from it. I did this, renamed it to PB99IMG.zip, put it onto my SD, and tried to flash it via the Bootloader. However, I am given a message saying the CID is incorrect. I'm guessing this might be because I don't have a GoldCard? All in all, my phone is still not fixed, and I'm really hoping someone could help me out (i.e., give me some instructions as to how to flash the RUU .exe file through Fastboot).
Remove the PB99IMG.zip file from the sd card.
Turn off the phone.
Hold down back and the power button.
You should now be in the fastboot menu.
Plug the phone into your computer with usb. It should now say 'fastboot usb' instead of 'fastboot' on the phone.
Then run the RUU exe file on your computer and follow the instructions on the screen of your computer. It will install the rom automatically.
I had this problem at the weekend and couldn't fix it. Phone went off to HTC who have sent it back after fixing, I don't know what they did though because I missed the delivery of my phone back today
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951950
The error message indicates you need a goldcard to flash the WWE ROM.
have you checked if one of the Asian ones can be applied without a goldcard.

The Downgrade of the Bootloader only works if you are running a device that can actually boot up fully. Download this RRU, put your phone into Fastboot via the Bootloader menu, connect your phone to the computer whilst in Fastboot, you should see the Red Fastboot writing change to Fastboot USB Plug, when you see this run the RRU you downloaded, and you're device should be restored to Factory Default with the latest version of Froyo. You WILL loose all data and root and S-Off, but this is the only thing I can think of to fix your device mate hope I helped...
*Sorry, I just realised someone had posted a similar tutorial, I only read the first page of the thread, didn't realise there was a second. You don't need the AndroidSDK, if you have HTC Sync installed, then all the drivers should automatically be there, but when you run the RRU, just make sure that you close HTC Sync (it'll appear in the taskbar on Windows) as it thinks the device is syncing, and can occasionally cause problems.
YES!!!! You guys are amazing! I managed to find my old GoldCard and flashed the RUU jaaystott posted. The phone now boots up and everything is in perfect working order. I'll be sure to thank everyone for their help!
Hi. i tried to unroot my phone and install orange stuff back on by following a guide on this forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796975
When i followed the guide i kept on getting md5 error, so then i dont know what i did, i somehow installed something and now the phones stuck on htc screen, phone wont load. However i still can enter hboot menu. i have taken some pics so you can see. i will add them to Flickr.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaisar89/sets
the phones orange uk branded which i purchased from phones4u. Details on the box are as follows:
HTC Desire PM Handset
OHTN1132
IMEI:
S/N:
P/N
EAN
Barcode: 5 027141 592329
That is the all the information on the box.
can someone please give me a solution on how to fix this problem. Much appreciated. TY
Of I've followed that guide. That nandroid backup is the Orange version but it's still rooted. And in the guide it says to open up a file and remove one of the lines. That will fix the md5 error. Anyway to unroot properly just use an ruu.

if possbile could you post link
in fastboot mode theres 4 options.
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
Which one do i need to select?
You just leave it in fast boot then plug it in to the computer you should see the red fastboot writing turn to fastboot USB plug then just run the ruu and that's it

No there isn't a stock Orange RUU - it's the one drawback of rooting an Orange-branded phone as there's no way of getting back to stock. You'll have to flash a stock unbranded RUU using a gold card
some questions please in regards to rooting my Vodafone AU phone
I want to install a custom ROM/root the phone so I've been reading this guide => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355.
I want to make sure I have some fallback in case I fcuked up the custom ROM install.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. I found a Vodafone RUU but it seems it's newer than the one I got. 1.28.869.11 instead that one on mine which is 1.28.869.9. I suppose it's better to update mine then? or leave it as is and just flash to 869.11 if I get into trouble?
2. Does someone know of a site that has MD5/SHA hashes of the RUU files just in case I want to verify my copy has downloaded completely/legit? I didn't download mine from the filefactory website as it requires a minimum $12 which I can't afford at the moment. :/
3. htcdev.com site is VERY VERY slow at the moment. bad time to do the unlocking I suppose?
Thank you very much!
1. Newer is better
2. I don't personally but someone might
3. Yes it's VERY slow at the moment as they released the Desire S ICS RUU recently so it's getting a bit of traffic
encountered a new problem during rootin. :/
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm kinda stuck in rooting my device. D:
I'm using this guide => [Tut] Preparing Your One X for Custom Roms (For Dummies) - xda-developers.
I have boot my HTC into "fastboot" mode (it says fastboot in the screen). I then plugged the HTC provided cable and "fastboot" now becomes "fastboot USB".
When I try to run "fastboot oem get_identifier_token". It is stuck at "waiting for device". The device doesn't show up in windows explorer. Not really sure if it should show up there or not.
1. Also, I tried running the fastboot command mentioned above with USB debugging enabled and disabled. No effect at all.
2. I have turned off firewall/antivirus just in case too. Still no effect.
3. I've tried running command prompt as normal user and as admin. Still not effect.
4. I have reset my new phone to factory settings as I've installed some apps while browsing XDA on how to go about getting root.
I haven't installed any HTC specific software. I was just following the advice as mentioned in the XDA guide.
Any thoughts? :/
Without the HTC software you have no drivers, hence no response in fastboot. Download and install HTC Sync Manager from the HTC website and then try again
Technically you dont need a hash for an exe (ruu), if its a corrupt download it wont run, simples.

The guide never mentioned it so I thought no HTC software is needed.
Thanks.
I wanted to make a small guide how to return your HTC one m9 to stock with RUU exe installer. The steps are pretty simple so please follow them. Please note that this is only for WWE international models. Same procedure can be done for other regions, however, the files are different. Doing this, you will also get a latest Marshmallow and 3.35.401.12 update! This will save you of hassle to copy and flash your phone several times over to get it done, this procedure does all that. You will not even need to open a command prompt.
Before you do this procedure backup yours files somewhere safe. This will wipe everything you have on the phone to stock settings. This will also unroot your device and remove custom recovery if you had any.
Follow this guide step by step. Do not open / run anything if I haven't said so.
1. For sake of being organized make a new folder on your desktop called "RUU" and make sure your phone has more than 30% battery otherwise RUU procedure wont work.
2. Download HTC sync manager from here and install it (this can help if RUU installer starts derping with USB connections etc : http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
3. Download the RUU exe from here and put it in the RUU folder you created on the desktop: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952597788
4. Download the rom.zip file from here and put it in the RUU folder on your desktop. File name needs to be rom.zip
5. Navigate to TEMP folder by typing %temp% in the search bar. If you can't find the temp folder this way then simply navigate to: C:\Users\PCname\AppData\Local\Temp
6. Select all folders you see there and delete them. If you get a file in use or skip message then please do so.
7. Go back to the RUU folder we created earlier and run the RUU exe file from step 3 as an admin. Give it a little time to load and once you are here don't press on next.
8. Copy rom.zip file from RUU folder and navigate to %temp% folder. Paste rom.zip file here: http://prntscr.com/a5gwae
9. Once copying is finished go back to the RUU exe window from step 7 and start clicking next until it prompts you to update. Click on update to 3.35.401.12.
10. During this procedure the phone will go on and off for a few times and after several minutes it will give the message that procedure has been finished successfully.
- Please note that all files are official. Hope this little guide helped you.
TnQ so much man. I was searching for this RUU for a while but couldn't find it. I'm gonna test it tomorrow. BTW i have an unlocked bootloader and s-on, do i need to relock bootloader before installing RUU?
No, you don't have to.
Or just rename the rom.zip to 0PJAIMG.zip copy to the sd card root, after that power off the phone hold vol- and power select download mode and follow the instructions on the screen.
BTW thx for the rom
why is this not stickied?
Please I need marshmallow RUU for hima_uhl my camera and flashlight stopped working only flashing RUU will fix it

Downgrades are not possible as long as you are S-ON. You need S-OFF to do this.
Send by the swarm intelligence of my coffee machine ?.
Ok so I could flash the same firmware via this method so long as the ruu matches? Unless of course I could s-off then s-on before sending the phone back in.

Please don't post more or less the same question in several threads. It's considered as rude behaviour on xda.
An xda search for "demo" would have been enough for finding this thread. If you read the whole thread you'll learn everything about the problems that arise with the latest firmware and the Demo-CID HTC__002.

Good Afternoon.
I'm looking for and original HTC One M9 RUU for 4.30.617.12 from AT&T. The phone is currently stuck in a boot loop with S-On and developer options were never activated. ADB is not able to connect via USB. I have resorted to only trying to flash the phone via SD card, but I cannot seem to find the right RUU for it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to give up just yet.

Hello,
Do you still need the firmware? I could upload the file later today if you are interested.
here you go:
https://mega.nz/file/NZkWGACI#cu3jrS62FE_6D-DRbGzpZSijm-1g7q6JKuWYhJ1LWoI
Hell yeah!
Alas it did not work.
I loaded the onto an SD card and changed the file name to 0PJAIMG.
Inserted SD card to phone.
Started phone in the white bootloader menu.
Selected "BOOT TO DOWNLOAD MODE".
The phone restarts into the black HTC screen and loops again to the white HTC screen.
Am I doing something wrong?
Need official RUU for HTC One M9 3.38.710.7 or 3.50.710.1
Good evening Good People
So I have an HTC One M9 showing kernel v "3.10.84-perf-geb5d15 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT"; build "3.3.710.7 CL683910 release-keys"; Android Security Patch Level 2016-03-01. Bought from my daughter who got it on Amazon where history undefined...
Someone has been at it because the factory update to 3.50.710.1 downloads (800-odd MByte - thanks :/) )but won't install and (MOST OF ALL) the EU:Exit app from gov.uk (that I have to use for a client on Monday 17-8-2020) won't run because the signature (or whatever it is) fails on the boot image.
So please can I ask:
1. Does this boot image look like it is original or is it a hack?
2. If this was installed is the original boot ROM reserved or overwritten?
3. Does anyone have a copy of a good factory install image that is this version or later, that I can beg for, that will pass the signature check by our esteemed governmetal app?
4. Does anyone have any good ideas about patching the boot ROM checksum to make it look "ok"?
TIA

Yup thanks @AlexA ... this thread appeared to be "I need a new boot image" and I need a new boot image
Seeing as TWRP doesn't hold factory boot images any possibility of XDA developers setting upa repository (notwithstanding attacks for copyright issues - and possible hacking - but you now what I mean).
