Nexus 5 / LineageOS 14.1 /Gapps nano 7.1 questions? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hello,
After flashing my Nexus 5 with the latest versions of LineageOS and Gapps nano, some apps, but not all, show an error 0 when installing. This is the case for Chrome and mydlink Home, for example.
Before flashing, it turns out that I've wiped the Dalvik cache, System, Data, Internal storage and Cache in TWRP. Could the problem come from this task? The version of the TWRP is as follows: 2.8.5.2.
What's amazing is that some applications are installed without problems.
I also want to say that everything worked properly with lineageOS and Gapps before the Swipe to Wipe.
I flashed my Nexus because I had a bug in receiving the call.
I uploaded the Chrome apk and there was no problem installing on LineageOS. But the update returns error 0.
I submitted my Nexus with factory configuration. No positive result.0
Should he update TWRP?
If this is a hardware failure, why some applications are installed and updated without problems?
Would someone have an idea?

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within one of the following Official LineageOS for your device and the Official OpenGApps Threads.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3510548

I'm not completely sure if this is tied to LineageOS or OpenGApps...
My suggestion/recommendation is to post this question within the LineageOS thread first for some member guidance and see if, whether or not, it LineageOS specific or OpenGApps specific.
If all else fails, then you have an option to ask for some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device.

No data on LineageOS 14.1

Alright, I have a Samsung Galaxy Express (I8730) and thought I should get it a boost by upgrading from Android 4.1 to LineageOS 14.1 with Android 7.1.
WiFi works fine, so does making calls and sending/receiving SMS and everything else, but NO and absolutely NO data. That is quite a severe limitation as I cannot access the Internet in any other way than over WiFi. It's very frustrating because I belive that LineageOS 14.1 / Android 7.1 is very good. So...
I have tried wiping the cache and dalvik cache.
I have tried installing new basebands, several of them, or in fact all of them that are available. The one I'm using now is I8730XWANE1.
I have tried LTE as well as 3G and I have tried different bearers, e.g. HSPA etc.
I have tried restoring the defaults for the selected mobile network.
I have tried searching for mobile networks and choosing the one that I'm subscribed too.
No... Nothing has fixed the problem.
With LineageOS 14.1 I have never ever seen an icon above the strength indicator as I used to on Android 4.1, not even for a short while. It has never worked.
I'm in Sweden.
Anyone?
Best,
Mike

LineageOS rooted?

Perhaps this questions appears a couple of time, but I do not find an answer:
Some Apps are the opinion I am using a jailbreaked or rooted mobile. My mobile device is for shure not rooted or something.
What I did:
I have the good old oneplus one. Until last Friday it was working with the last stock CM 13.1. And with this it was working since years.
But I want to have an update to the latest release, to go technically on latest OS. So I installed LineageOS nightly 15.1.
First of all: great work. It is running fluidly with no problems.
Only some issues with rooting?!
My OpO is not rooted. Some apps I need for my daily work can not be installed like the ServiceNow. Some other apps say: no support, because of a rooted mobile like Mercedes me.
I tried to root it for afterwards to unroot. But our companies policy app immediately factory resets my phone after installing SuperSU. From this issue I know, it is not rooted. I checked with RootChrcker as well: unrooted.
Why some specific apps mean: rooted?

(Though, the title states 14.1, the threads title just wasn't changed yet to reflect the 15.1.)

If all else fails, and you don't receive any responses from the above thread, you can always try to obtain some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device.

Just an FYI... In general, all of the Official LineageOS builds are not rooted by default. This is why the Lineage Team provides flashable Root Addons located at the bottom of the device listing on their downloads page that's labeled "Extras".
SuperSU and others alike are just optional choices and should not be flashed together.
Good Luck!

@Lowrider39, did you flahsed addonsu zip?
In you have, please go to the Setting >> Developer Options >> Root Access.
Select 'Apps and ADB' if you haven't done so.
Maybe this helps. (this whined me, too for a while).

Change OpenGapps for MindTheGapps afterthought

Hi everyone,
I just saw that it was better to use MindTheGapps rather than Open Gapps for LineageOS, since the A/B function was added.
I just completely reinstalled LineageOS 15.1 on my smartphone this weekend and I obviously put the Open Gapps, as I didn't know about the advantages of MindTheGapps.
Is it possible, in your opinion, to flash the MindTheGapps at this stage? Will it work? Are there any risks and if so, which ones?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Unfortunately the OpenGApps installation cannot be removed/changed.
The only option is to perform a clean installation of the whole thing.
This is because GApps Packages are also installed in various locations on your system itself.
Believe me when I state this because I was in a similar situation not too long ago and had to begin from the start using the GApps package of choice.
Good Luck!

Hello and good day? Everything was working a couple of weeks ago, but no longer and

Hello and good day! I'm on the upgrade path with HTC M10 running Android 8.0 to Lineageos 15.1 and GAPPS 8.1.0. Everything installed and phone now running HTC 10 set, but Google Play Services 'Checking for Updates' runs a very long time, fails, requires a restart, and never completes. I've downloaded GAPP and reinstalled several times, cleared application cache, and Wi-Fi connection is > 300mbs. Did I miss something? Is there another method to install GAPPS 8.1.0 perhaps via ADB to complete Android 8.1 upgrade?

I don't have this device myself but, see if you're provided an option to update the Google Play Services via the following link to it on the Google Play Store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms
If it doesn't work out for you, I can only think of trying to obtain some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device.

Got it and help appreciation
Got it and assistance appreciated! Google Play store was loaded as part of GAPP install and the link attempted (and failed) to update the version the on my device. The GAPP apps don't appear to be setup correctly and Google setup software software is failing to interface with with wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi and carrier). However, Google browser, telephone, and text work. I've installed 8.1-Linage-15.1 and 8.1.0-Gapps-arm64 -- are these compatible software pairs? Should I try another version of GAPP and if so, which one? Thanks.

I can't really state which one will work exactly since I don't have any HTC devices but, if it were me experiencing issues that are GApps Specific...
Your correct regarding your use of the GApps 8.1 (ARM64) with LineageOS 15.1.
As to the specific GApps Package, I personally prefer to use the "Pico" myself. Pico is pretty much the Google Play Store and what makes it work (Minimal).
You could try the "GApps 8.1 (ARM64) Pico" just to see if that resolves your issue and, if you wanted, go with a larger package.
It could also be one of those little/minor things that went a bit wrong with the GApps you had flashed.
It doesn't happen often with me but, it has happened to me and even on an occasion or two where I had to redo a clean installation for the LineageOS and GApps a few times.
It could have been that specific date for the GApps release where you can just go with another GApps release date.
Or maybe you can also try MindTheGApps as many members do like them over OpenGApps. This is a personal preference thing too.
I always try to rule out the little things before looking at any of the bigger things.
I hope this was helpful for you and the best guidance I can really provide you without having the actual device myself.
Good Luck!
