ATT Note 5 Native Tether/hotspot (NO Root) 6.0.1 MM - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note5

I am using an at&t note 5 (sm-920A) i downgraded from Nougat EQC6, 7.0.1 to 6.0.1. MM CPK1 with Binary 4 bootloader. This phone has never been rooted.
I now have access to hotspot in my notifications drop down menu, and USB tethering along with Bluetooth tethering work by just going to the option and switching them on.
My Goal was initially to downgrade to 5.1.1 to get root so i could make use of the Native Tether/Hotspot and other root apps on my ATT Note 5.
I am using this phone on the Straight Talk network.
This is my first how-to and first post. I apologize if i post in the wrong section or am unable to give more help to those in need.
I've searched/googled and although i have found workarounds i have not found any how-to's to get to this end result.
Ive been using my note 5 this way for a few days now with no problems. disabled att bloatware, knox, and system updates with package disabler pro.
With not having any issues, I flashed back to the 6.01 firmware to check my steps and write this how-to. Will update if anything changes.
WARNING!!
Some things i did may be unnessary but were in my process at the time of writing/doing this so are included
I haven't tested everything on this phone.
I don't know if there are any bugs.
I don't know what will happen when updated.
I do not garuntee this will work for you.
I take NO responsibility if your decision to try/do this fails.
The Search button and google were my biggest helpers.
Here is my process as laid out and straight forward as i could think to write it.
Things you will need:

Big Thank you to these guys for posting this stuff, and everything else they post.
I am assuming you know how to put your phone into download mode and use odin in the following instructions. I left my phone connected to my pc with sim card in the entire process.
1. Unzip N920AUCS4CPK1, then Flash using odin. Use all 4 files in their respected spots. nothing else has to be changed hit start.
After reboot I setup up the phone enough to get to settings and enable developer options. making sure to turn on adb debugging and oem unlock. then rebooted to download mode
2. In Odin, Flash N920AUCE2APB2.tar in the BL slot and COMBINATION_FA51_N920AUCU4APL1_CL6053901_QB11816686_REV00_user_mid_noship.tar in the AP slot. (I flashed these two at the same time)
Phone will reboot to binary splash screen then start regularly. For me the phone Played boot music and (vibrated then vibrate twice) repeatedly. Bootloop
If this happens to you as well,
2a. Shut phone off by holding volume down key and power button.
(If you are brought to a screen that says power key long press in yellow with other information below[well call this the info screen, not sure on its proper name],
then power off by holding volume down key and power key again, releasing both when screen goes blank.
2b. When the phone is completly off reboot to recovery by holding volume up key and power key.
Do a factory reset and wipe cache. Then reboot. (If it freezes at cache complete, power off with volume down key and power key).
Holding power button for 10 seconds or more will boot you to info screen again.
3. Your phone should load to a home screen with what looks like a debugging menu as the background.
4. Turn phone off and boot to download mode.
5. In Odin, load BL, AP, and CP from N920AUCS4CPK1. Leave CSC blank. No other options should be changed in Odin.
6. You will reboot to recovery. Use reboot option. dm verity check will start then phone should reboot to normal setup initialization.
7. If for some reason your phone shows the wrong storage size, go to back-up and resert in settings and o a factory data reset mine was showing up as 16gb where as it is 64gb
That was everything i did.
If with straight talk send a text to 611611 with the mesage being apn.
afrter a few minutes they will send a configuration message for browser and mms.
Install both. They should say installed when complete.
For others you will have to input your apn settings manually.
My phone showed H+ for the first few minutes, has been showing 4g ever since.
Just a few thoughts before i post, but are in no way tested or confirmed...
I'm thinking coming from cpk1 full firmware you could just flash the combination file in the AP slot.
Then after reboot to Download mode flash the cpk1 firmware without the CSC file and hve the same result,
but I havnt had a chance to test that yet as i need my phone running, and will soon have to go to work.
The main reason the N920AUCE2APB2.tar file was used was because i was playing around flashing different files it may or may not be needed. further testing is needed. but it was there during this process so i included it. Again I apologize if this could be simplified or if i left anything out. any comments are appreciated positive or negative. Thanks

So i did a little testing. Flash cpk1 all files. Then flash the custom binary and rebooting to download mode. Then flash the cpk1 files again minus the csc file. Leave that slot(csc) empty in odin and it will give you native hotspot and tethering. You get hotspot from notification drop down menu and No more contact att. It will take away the calls over wifi option though.
I will edit this walkthrough (if you canveven call it that) soon to reflect the changes. Thank you for reading.

This process also works using this firmware. i updated from cpk1 using my process in post #2. i left out the (csc) and pit file in the N920A_N920AUCS4EQL1_ATT_USA_7.0.zip huynhlam posted in the link above. I am now on 7.0 with native hotspot and mobile hotspot icon in the notification drop down menu working . i can upload pictures but atm im not familiar with the best free file hosting sites so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i will keep trying different firmwares and update with results.

Hello Badbrane, I followed your instructions and I succeeded
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: After some testing I found out a bluetooth issue.
The first time I turn the device on, the bluetooth works fine. Then, after a reboot, I can't turn bluetooth on any more.
If I go through a Factory reset I will get the bluetooth working again, till next reboot

I need some help. I'm stuck in 2b (yellow information screen). when i hold [volume down] + [power button] it restarts instead of turning off. What should I do?

The combination file is no longer on Android file host. Any chance you have another link?
Im blind

I havnt really messed with the bluetooth much on my note 5 since i did this process. there are definetly a few bugs but my only concern was being able to use hotspot and tether. found out later that the system will try to auto update but it crashes every time so i no worring about hitting binary 5, as far as i know that is

[ROM] Elocity A7+ "EviLocity v1.0" Android 2.2 rooted rom.

ROM EviLocity 1.0 Android 2.2 Rabid ROM ----- Elocity A7+ ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Main features:
- Fully rooted with proper edit to boot.img for ro.secure+0 in the default.prop
- Based on last official 3.0022 firmware ( All A7+ no old A7 components).
- Edited proper default prop to 0,1,1,1 instead of 1,0,0,0
- Removed bloat apps
- Added EStrong Suite - Task, Security, and File Manager, and Rootexplorer.
- WiFi tweaks.
- Build.prop edits for performance, ram consumption (360MB free, varies).
- 1% Battery MOD
- Some graphics and font changes
- Duplicated libraries deleted.
- Some build.prop tweaks to improve performance, wifi responsiveness, and better ram consumption, etc
- Use UOT screen transitions
- New boot animation. "Zombies" ( unfortunately the system boots so fast now, you only get to see the whole thing the first boot. LOL)
- As far a testing goes everything works
Issues - None it did not have already(so far). Still has the SOD (sleep of death) issue. I have found that utilities that can set WiFi to "sleep never" help and I used Overclock widget to set the minimum power to 500MHZ. The system by default drops to about 150-200MHZ and when it drops that low it seems to hang. I have also found having something plugged into the USB can be removed and replaced quickly and the remount causes it to let you take it out of sleep. Perhaps other overclock tool can do the same and work better?
Download EviLocityV1.0
When installing an 8GB or smaller microsd works well.
Install Instructions:
This runs like a normal update so you should still have your apps, but the following is the best way to flash this ROM. Either way backup your files before using.
If by using this mod the world comes to and end, or you are suddenly sucked back in time only to accidentally kill your grandfather leaving your future uncertain, I take no responsibility for the consequences. Oh yeah. same thing if it screws up your tablet.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. REMEMBER TO BACKUP ANY THING YOU WANT SAVE BEFORE FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS. THIS WILL WIPE YOUR TABLET TO A CLEAN FACTORY-ISH STATE.
I have not tried using the built in update process in the system settings, feel free to give it a shot first, but this is the best way in MHO. Always have at least 50% battery but better still be plugged into power.
1. Copy the the update.zip file to a microsd either directly on your PC or through USB to the tablet external drive. In this case /sdcard/sdcard-disk0. Make sure it is the only update file on the card.
NEVER INSTALL ANY UPDATE FROM THE INTERNAL STORAGE. If something should go wrong you could be stuck with that same image reloading every time you try to go into recovery and you may never have a way to remove or get past it.
2. With the tablet powered off power on by holding down power button for two seconds, then release and press again and hold until you see the message " Hold power for 5 sec...."
3. Release power after the message "booting recovery kernel".
4. Wait until the Android with the triangle and exclamation over it's head pops up.
5. Press the home button to bring up the recovery menu. Use back to move down, and menu to select
6. Scroll down and select Wipe data & cache, then select Yes delete all user data . The tablet will reboot, just press and hold power until you see the recovery loading message again.
7. When complete select Wipe cache partition and wait until complete.
8. Select Apply update from external sdcard.
9. Scroll to the update.zip file and select it.
10. Wait for it to complete then select Reboot system now when prompted. Device will go through a few screen changes just sit back and wait for the boot animation.
The first boot will be slow as it has to rebuild the cache.
Thank you for the custom rom, everything functions well. However, visually, it's atrocious.
thank you. can't wait to try this rom out. im getting my A7+ in 3 weeks.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
does this rom have the play store or market?

found some issues
Okay after fooling around with it for a week.i have some questions;
The mic no longer works and when you have to enter a date, the dails always reset to 2014. Is this just me? Do you have any suggestions?

Confirmed!! T-Mobile Concord (V768) ROOT and BOOT-LOOP fix!!

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING NEGATIVE THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE!!
ALSO WORKS FOR T-MOBILE DART!!
Never Hurts to Thank or GIFT to all that help you!
NO PC NEEDED!!!!!!!!:highfive:
Necessary downloads from the Play Store
SuperUser or SuperSU -- One will work, the other won't -- [/COLOR][/SIZE] --A MUST HAVE for any rooted phone! Superuser/SuperSU is the app that manages what apps on your rooted device have access to su. Apps that are granted su have elevated permissions and can modify just about any part of the system. The app consists of two parts, Superuser.apk and the su binary.
Superuser.apk runs as any other app and gives you, the user, a place to see what apps you have allowed or denied, as well as view a log of what apps have used su when.
Link2SD-- DO NOT USE until rooted.--Link2SD is an application that makes it easy for Android 1.6+ users with root privileges on their phone to move applications to the SD card.
The idea behind is same with apps2sd scripts, linking applications to SD card's second partition but differs in two ways.
One, instead of linking /data/app folder (that means moving all applications), you can select applications that you want to move.
Two, it's an application which means has a user interface. You can manage your applications with few clicks.
It also provides native apps2sd features on Android 2.2 and higher. It can move any non-protected user apps to SD card (force move), with batch moving capability.
That feature uses Android's standard SD-card installation feature and does not require a second partition. It can break some apps if they are not meant to be moved to the SD card (Such as Widgets).
BusyBox--DO NOT USE until rooted. --A MUST HAVE for any rooted phone! Almost EVERY rooted applications needs BusyBox to perform their magic, if you have a rooted phone then you NEED BusyBox.
Pro version contains Backup feature (for safer installs), uninstall feature, Advance Smart install feature, the ability to hand pick the applets you want, safety check for missing applets on start, and better overall support. The pro version will receive more frequent updates than the free version will.
Root Checker (optional)--Checks for ROOT -- Use AFTER Installing a Superuser app.

I did the boot-loop process and then the root process. I had no errors and was rooted on the first try. You should not need to factory reset. This is only the boot- loop fix and root. No new recovery or roms.
Anyone else try this?

Wow 230 views and only 1 other person telling me it worked for them? I would like to keep up with this and maybe figure out some way to get roms and such, like twrp, themes, etc... But I need to know if there are any bugs or not by following these instructions. I am not a DEV but am willing to try to accomplish things people want. Currently trying to get twrp ported by someone for this phone. Whoever is willing to work on the port should pm me.
Hey I'm new to posting but I've been on android for a few years. I'm having troubles with booting into recovery mode. Whenever I try it shows some yellow text at the bottom. Something about the data directory. Think u can help me fix this please? Thank u

I have boldly went where no one has gone before. After much soul searching about bricking my son's phone because I have only followed guides, I decided that this phone was so similar to the AVAIL/MERIT that I would use that method to root his Concord. I did this because his phone ran out of memory and subsequently got stuck on boot-loop. Because this worked, I wrote this tutorial.
NO PC NEEDED!!!!!!!!
This quick tutorial will help you get into recovery and root.
What files are needed are not my work! I only decided to use the ZTE MERIT GUIDE AND ZIP for my son's T-mobile Concord(V768).
To get out of the BOOT-LOOP
1.) Power off the phone by removing the battery.
2.) Replace battery.
3.) Boot into recovery by holding Volume- and power button until the android with the triangle appears. this will appear AFTER the android that is by himself!!
4.) Press the home button
5.) Navigate to the 3rd choice - " wipe data/factory reset"
6.) Select by pressing the menu button
7.) When the wipe is complete, navigate to and select - "reboot system"
To Root
1.) Download attached update.zip file
2.) copy/move update.zip to root of sdcard
3.) Power off the phone
4.) reboot into recovery by holding Volume- and power button until the android with the triangle appears.
5.) At this screen, Press the HOME button.
6.) scroll to your second option, navigating with the volume buttons - "Apply update from sdcard" and press the Menu key
7.) Navigate to YES and press the menu key (no data will be wiped but the update will be installed and you will be rooted)
8.) Navigate to - "reboot system now" and select by pressing the menu key.
9.) Install superuser or equivalent. I installed Superuser and root checker before installing the update.
If for some reason, you get an error, try to factory reset first.
Congratulations!!! You are now Rooted!!
Special THANKS to JCASE for his work on the ZTE MERIT UPDATE.ZIP mentioned above. The UPDATE.ZIP file was downloaded from Stayboogy's tutorial.

What carrier and version and build number are you on? You can find that under settings--> about phone. My carrier is Family Mobile (which runs on T-Mobile) and I'm running Android 2.3.7 and Build number V768V1.0.0B20.
I am having trouble getting the Concord to boot into recovery. I can't seem to get to a screen with a triangle. Can you walk through the steps to get it into recovery again or possibly post a video?
The video stayboogy supplied in the link you posted for the Avail/Merit said to put the phone into recovery mode by holding the volume up key and the menu key while pressing the power button. When I do that the concord freezes at the green android logo and does not go into recovery mode and does not boot normally. I have to pull the battery. Same thing if I hold both of the volume buttons and the menu key.
If I hold the volume down and the menu key (or just the volume down key or just the menu key) and turn on the power button I get the green android startup screen followed by a screen with a white box and an orange arrow coming out of the box pointing to a small green android. When I get to this screen pressing home or the volume up or down buttons just cause it to reboot.

I personally have not noticed this. make sure your phone is off. make sure you press the volume down button first. while still holding the volume down button press and hold the power button. DO NOT let go of either button until the android with the triangle appears. you will see the android by himself first, CONTINUE HOLDING THE BUTTONS FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. When the android with the triangle appears, you can let go of both buttons. Then press your home button. this should bring up your recovery menu.
USE THE VOLUME BUTTONS TO NAVIGATE UP AND DOWN.
USE THE MENU BUTTON TO SELECT YOUR CHOICES. I
BELIEVE, THE POWER BUTTON ACTS AS THE BACK BUTTON? (MAYBE JUST USE THE BACK BUTTON.) I will check this when my son gets home from school. he is the one with the phone.
remember there is NO factory wipe necessary, unless you are trying to get out of the boot-loop.

You can find most of that in the title "Confirmed!! T-Mobile Concord (V768) ROOT and BOOT-LOOP fix!!"
My Android BUILD will be posted when my son gets home. he has the phone. It should be the same. I am using the same carrier with the same version of android. Android 2.3.7
I am also on the family mobile plan.

I tried again with no luck. In the Root ZTE Concord thread a few of us tried and were never able to get into recovery mode.
I just tried the steps you listed but I get the same screen with the white box and arrow and if I continue to hold the power and volume down button it causes the phone to reboot. If I keep holding down the power and volume down even after it reboots it just repeats, green android screen, white box screen, reboot, green android screen, white box, reboot, etc. I can record a video of the screen later today if you are interested.
Did you ever install an over the air update? I did months ago and I wonder if that update changes or removes how to get into recovery mode.
I have T-Mobile android 2.3.7 build number V768V1.0.0B19

I will attempt to find this screen later when my son gets home. 3:30pm central.I have only owned the phone for about 1 1/2 months. I do not believe that I have received any update OTA or any other way. my son downloads a lot of CRAP. He eventually got stuck in the pink logo boot-loop. I proceeded to do the boot-loop fix that I listed and after the factory reset to get out of it, I confirmed that it booted normally, turned the phone off and went back into recovery.
One thing I did notice about this phone is the power button. It is "weird". I am one of those that mash the buttons EXTRA hard to insure that they are being pressed. I make sure that I use both hands, one finger on each hand for each button and I hold as still as possible. Making sure that I don't toggle any buttons. at first, my phone would some how be stuck on the green android that is by himself. What your are saying sounds similar but I never noticed the white box. I think that this might be the download mode. if you have some kind of case on the phone, try removing it.
OTA update?

Have you ever applied the over the air update? I have and I wonder if that has eliminated the ability to get into recovery mode.
I stated in my previous post that I have not noticed one. I bought the phone at the end of February. I rooted the phone the night before I posted this tutorial. I will check the build version as soon as my son gets home. FYI, The rom is totally stock as no one has had this rooted, unlocked bootloader or otherwise, that I know of.

I tried again and made sure to hold the buttons firmly without moving but have the same result. Maybe your son never applied the OTA update and that's why you can get in recovery mode.

I was just wondering if the OTA update was applied by bkool96 and maybe that's why we both can't get recovery mode to boot.
If you are willing to back up what you can and then do a factory restore. You might have luck that way. I will try to get into recovery later today since my son has been using the phone but I may still be able to seeing as how I am already rooted.

Also, googling it, I noticed that I may be A** backwards. Meaning, Try Volume UP and the power button. If that works then I will edit the tutorial.

I'm pretty sure its volume down+power button. Im stuck at the green android with volume up and I get into recovery with volume down for like 3 seconds then it reboots with a yellow error message mentioning something about the /data directory

When you press the volume up and power buttons, DO NOT let them go until the Android with the triangle appears. Then follow the rest of the guide. I remember getting frozen at the green Android by himself.:banghead:

[Q] Problem with Galaxy Tab 7'' update

Hello.
I recently got myself a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7in and everything seemed to be working just fine until the system eventually prompted me to update the Samsung software. I followed the steps, the tablet downloaded the update files itself and rebooted in order to install the updates. Problem is, during the reboot/installation process the screen remained black with just 2 lines of pixels on across the screen, I though this was part of the booting process but it just stood there for more than 10 minutes so I decided to turn it back on. Everything seemed to be fine, but then an error message came up saying there could be problems with the software (i didn't pay too much attention), but after this it won't let me install any apps. After an app is done downloading a message pops up saying "unknown error code during application install -110", plus my computer (or any other computer) doesn't detect when it's plugged in via USB cable. I've tried doing several factory resets and wipes and still have the same issues. Tried installing Kies but it won't detect it either.
How can I repair the firmware without having to connect the tablet to my computer? Is there anything I can download directly to it or transfer via Bluetooth to re-install the software?
Any help will be very much appreciated
Try resetting it back to factory defaults. You can google it easily.

my friend has the same problem. did you fix the issue? if so how?
I am using the Apex Launcher but I think this is possible with stock launcher as well hopefully it helps someone. This is one way to do a factory reset is:
You will need your MSL TO DO THIS. If you don't know it put the "Factory Mode" shortcut on your home screen then skip down to the 2nd part of this post & install the msl app.
FACTORY RESET:
1) long click on the home screen
2) click on shortcut
3) select Activities
4)Scroll down to "Factory Mode" tap it then select the dropled down one. This will put a Shortcut on the Home Screen.
5) Find the Factory Mode shortcut you just made & tap it to open it.
6) Dial ##786# then on the screen that pops up
7) select "RESET"
8)enter your msl in the box that popped up then select ok then the device will reboot & when it powers backup it will be like it was from the factory & if you don't know your MSL follow the instructions below.
TO GET MSL:
1) In a browser type bit.ly/mslutility - can sideload if needed
2)install app
3) Open app & click get MSL it will most likely fail this is fine.
4) click on the factory mode shortcut you made to open it
5) dial ##3282# & put in 6 zeros-it will tell you that it's incorrect this is fine. Go back to home screen
6) Open the MSL App & click on Get MSL-this time it should give you your devices 6 digit MSL Code. Write it down. Then do step # 6 above to reset your Device.
This shortcut will allow you to put the Sprint SGT3 into DIAG MODE(##3424#) , get into the ##data#(##3282#) menu, do the factory reset ##RTN# (##786#) & most likely any other Dialer/hidden menu's for this device.
Thanks to the MSL App builder(not sure who it is so let me know please)

Firmware Update to Marshmallow - GPS Stopped Working

Hi!
I've made a post in the Asus forum, with no luck and I found this page where you seem more technical :
Two days ago I downloaded the Android MM 6.0 update from the Asus Homepage downloading the version WW-4.21.40.144 , since I live in Brazil and the phone was bought here. I followed all the steps one by one till it got updated.
The problem is, since then my GPS is not working (Waze, Googlemaps ans several apps).
I tryed:
1. Giving all permissions of location to the apps
2. Puting the settings in High Accuracy
3. Restarting the phone several times.
4. Switch on and off Airplane mode and 2G 3G ands 4G (I read sometimes its interference from that)
5. Waiting almost an hour with the phone outside (sunny day) to see if it detects the satellites.
6. Every app inthe appstore that promise GPS Fixing (reseting, A-GPS and all kind of tests. Funny thing, the sensor IS working acording to those apps.
7. Factory Reset
8. Factory Reset and Erase Cache from the bootmenu. (as indicated in the Asus Forum)
9. Downgraded to Lolipop again. WW-52.20.40.196
10. Again every app to reset the GPS.
Nothing worked.
To my surprise, now I have Lolipop and no GPS. So back to basics but, worst.
The Asus forum told me to Update to the latest version, which I did:
1. Updated my phone with the latest MM version. 4.21.40.223.
2. Put the location options in "High Accuracy" and permissions needed for the apps.
3. As the old software was installed after that, I tried Waze. No GPS Signal was found.
4. Did a factory reset.
5. Put the location options in "High Accuracy" and permissions needed for the apps
6. Installed the apps GPS Toolbox and Waze again, the both can't find a GPS signal. I left the phone outside for 10 minutes.
7. Tried to install the version UL-Z00A-WW-2.20.40.198-user by bootloader, but it says it cannot update to an older version, which sounds about right. (I had to try)
What else can I do? I don't mind going back to Lolipop, but when I did GPS didn't work.
Is there any chance the new Update wrote something apart from software in the chipset that cannot be undone?
Help please, I really need the GPS!
Phone not rooted.
Thanks!
Juan
After long hours of searching, reading and trying I got it fix. How?
0. Have a full charged battery or have your phone plugged to the wall (except for the USB stuff on step number 2, obviously)
0.1. Make backups of all the info in the phone, because everything is going to be erased.
1. Download the version WW-52.20.40.196 from Asus website.(unless you need the other like CN, JK, etc, see Asus site to be sure)
2. Copy it to the internal storage of your phone in the root of it (not in any folder), via USB.
3. Get to the boot loader (Turn off phone and once is off, push the power button with the Up volume one until it vibrates 2 times. Release only the power button until the menu appears) - Search the forum for more details.
4. Select "Recovery Boot" with the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm.
The next steps are all in the Recovery Menu (once it finishes every step it goes back to the original menu, no alerts, sounds or nothing. So check every now and then)
5. Make a Wipe/factory reset, and wait, it takes some time. (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
6. Make a Wipe of the cache. (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
7. Install update from Internal storage selecting the name of file you copied on step number 2 (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm). It will take a while.
8. Reboot the system (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
It will restart with the phone in the Lolipop version and the GPS working fine. Even after the Lolipop updates.
Marshmallow update has a bug, that at least with my phone the GPS doesn't work. Tried reinstalling marshmallow latest version after the GPS got fix, just to prove the point, and in fact, it stopped working again.
Then I did all the steps above again and went back to normal again.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO UPDATE TO MARSHMALLOW WITH THE ACTUAL FIRMWARE VERSIONS AVAILABLE.
I also had this problem with Marshmallow ROM, as the GPS is not working in terms of unable to locate any signal from satellites.
However, I also solved the problem with a method sounds very silly.
I turn on my GPS overnight using an application called GPS Status.
The night I turn it on, it was locating 0 satellite (it will write 0/0 SAT). However in the morning, I found that the GPS is now working, locking on 8 out of 24 discovered satellite (it wrote 8/24 SAT).
Now my GPS is working seamlessly.
Thanks! I will try it next weekend. I need my phone this week. Hahaha
I ll post when I do so.
Do you know other similar cases of people who did that and worked?
The thing is, now I have Lollipop again an I noticed how slow the system is running with applications. I d love to have the update, but not sacrificing the GPS
I decided I won't make the test because it doesn't justify the risk and time.
I'll wait for a newer update or just stay with Lollipop.
Just to let you guys know in case someone was waiting for this
I downloaded GPS Status as suggested by SleepingAran and ran it once. Now my Waze is working seamlessly. Thanks!
There's another simple solution that works:
Follow exact steps:
1. Turn on location and set high accuracy mode
2. Open google maps
3. Move your phone several times in the shape of 8 (8-10 times should be enough)
4. Close google maps and clear it from recents screen
5. Start google maps again. Profit

[GUIDE] How to downgrade to Android 9

Make backups!
Go to Settings - About Phone - Software information, and under 'Service provider SW ver.' you will see something like : '..._SM_A505FN_OXM_LUX_QQ..... etc...' The important thing is a: the model number, in my case A505FN and b: the country code, which is LUX on my device.
Then go to https://samfw.com (very fast download), you also have https://samfrew.com/ but download speeds are slow!
Enter model number, select Country and filter by Android version 9. Select the latest firmware. Enable Captcha and press on 'Download on website (need big ram)'.
Download Odin and USB drivers
Extract zip firmware files, install USB.
Open Odin.
Turn off device. Press Volume Up + Power until you are in the Android Recovery. Connect USB. Then with Volume Down you select 'Reboot to bootloader'. Press Power to confirm. If everything is good you will see a blue box in Odin. In my case it says: '0:[COM4]'.
Add the firmware files for BL, AP, CP and CSC. In the Options tab only check 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time'. Press 'Start' and wait.
If you see the green box in Odin that says 'Pass!', disconnect USB.
Go through normal Android setup.
Make sure to disable automatic updates, or it will auto update to Android 10 again!
Go to Settings - Software update - uncheck 'Auto download over Wi-Fi'. Then go to About phone - Software information - tap several times Build number until you unlock Developer options. Then go back to Settings - Developer options - uncheck 'Auto update system'.
Disable security update policy: Settings - Biometrics and Security - Other Security Settings - Security Policy Settings - uncheck 'Auto Updates'.
After a day i still get a notification to update... So the last option is to adb and disable the update package: Download 'minimal_adb_fastboot_1.4.3_portable.zip', enable USB debugging in the Developer Options, connect USB, accept, unzip the file, open 'cmd-here.exe' and enter:
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.wssyncmldm
result: Package com.wssyncmldm new state: disabled-user
and
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sec.android.soagent
result: Package com.sec.android.soagent new state: disabled-user
Now enter 'adb reboot'.
If that didn't work, I'm out of idea's.
Done!
edit: This guide only works if you upgraded from Android 9 to 10 with software update. If you flashed Android 10 with Odin you cannot downgrade anymore...
Thanks!

does it work after 1 year with all monthly updates?
I was just done downloading usb driver, ODIN, and firmware...... attempting to go back to latest/last Android 10 update prior to getting into Android 11. My battery life is horrible after going to Android 11. Can I downgrade?
Thanks!
Hi.. I have had less features and terrible radio reception for data ever since upgraded.
I downloaded the mexican file for android 9 from sammobile and I removed the bootloader lock so i get a message now that warns me it is unlocked and insecure when booting. The phone was reset before doing.
I followed the instructions but I get this error:
check fail boot loader device binary 4 pit_flash_binary unsupported version
The best I could find on Google from translated Russian was that the BootLoader has been upgraded when I went to version 11 and it is not allowed to downgrade.
I highly doubt i downloaded the wrong version and I have the sm-a505g number in my file which is my phone too. (I have the world phone with 2 sim)
So how can I downgrade my phone back to its real original state?
The internet is pretty much useless on this phone since the over the air update and I need to use a portable wifi router to get internet to work on my phone.
I also miss changing color of my photos to b/w in certain areas.
Shame on Samsung for doing this.
ps.. Living in Myanmar.
