Firmware Update to Marshmallow - GPS Stopped Working - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I've made a post in the Asus forum, with no luck and I found this page where you seem more technical :
Two days ago I downloaded the Android MM 6.0 update from the Asus Homepage downloading the version WW-4.21.40.144 , since I live in Brazil and the phone was bought here. I followed all the steps one by one till it got updated.
The problem is, since then my GPS is not working (Waze, Googlemaps ans several apps).
I tryed:
1. Giving all permissions of location to the apps
2. Puting the settings in High Accuracy
3. Restarting the phone several times.
4. Switch on and off Airplane mode and 2G 3G ands 4G (I read sometimes its interference from that)
5. Waiting almost an hour with the phone outside (sunny day) to see if it detects the satellites.
6. Every app inthe appstore that promise GPS Fixing (reseting, A-GPS and all kind of tests. Funny thing, the sensor IS working acording to those apps.
7. Factory Reset
8. Factory Reset and Erase Cache from the bootmenu. (as indicated in the Asus Forum)
9. Downgraded to Lolipop again. WW-52.20.40.196
10. Again every app to reset the GPS.
Nothing worked.
To my surprise, now I have Lolipop and no GPS. So back to basics but, worst.
The Asus forum told me to Update to the latest version, which I did:
1. Updated my phone with the latest MM version. 4.21.40.223.
2. Put the location options in "High Accuracy" and permissions needed for the apps.
3. As the old software was installed after that, I tried Waze. No GPS Signal was found.
4. Did a factory reset.
5. Put the location options in "High Accuracy" and permissions needed for the apps
6. Installed the apps GPS Toolbox and Waze again, the both can't find a GPS signal. I left the phone outside for 10 minutes.
7. Tried to install the version UL-Z00A-WW-2.20.40.198-user by bootloader, but it says it cannot update to an older version, which sounds about right. (I had to try)
What else can I do? I don't mind going back to Lolipop, but when I did GPS didn't work.
Is there any chance the new Update wrote something apart from software in the chipset that cannot be undone?
Help please, I really need the GPS!
Phone not rooted.
Thanks!
Juan

After long hours of searching, reading and trying I got it fix. How?
0. Have a full charged battery or have your phone plugged to the wall (except for the USB stuff on step number 2, obviously)
0.1. Make backups of all the info in the phone, because everything is going to be erased.
1. Download the version WW-52.20.40.196 from Asus website.(unless you need the other like CN, JK, etc, see Asus site to be sure)
2. Copy it to the internal storage of your phone in the root of it (not in any folder), via USB.
3. Get to the boot loader (Turn off phone and once is off, push the power button with the Up volume one until it vibrates 2 times. Release only the power button until the menu appears) - Search the forum for more details.
4. Select "Recovery Boot" with the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm.
The next steps are all in the Recovery Menu (once it finishes every step it goes back to the original menu, no alerts, sounds or nothing. So check every now and then)
5. Make a Wipe/factory reset, and wait, it takes some time. (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
6. Make a Wipe of the cache. (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
7. Install update from Internal storage selecting the name of file you copied on step number 2 (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm). It will take a while.
8. Reboot the system (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
It will restart with the phone in the Lolipop version and the GPS working fine. Even after the Lolipop updates.
Marshmallow update has a bug, that at least with my phone the GPS doesn't work. Tried reinstalling marshmallow latest version after the GPS got fix, just to prove the point, and in fact, it stopped working again.
Then I did all the steps above again and went back to normal again.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO UPDATE TO MARSHMALLOW WITH THE ACTUAL FIRMWARE VERSIONS AVAILABLE.

I also had this problem with Marshmallow ROM, as the GPS is not working in terms of unable to locate any signal from satellites.
However, I also solved the problem with a method sounds very silly.
I turn on my GPS overnight using an application called GPS Status.
The night I turn it on, it was locating 0 satellite (it will write 0/0 SAT). However in the morning, I found that the GPS is now working, locking on 8 out of 24 discovered satellite (it wrote 8/24 SAT).
Now my GPS is working seamlessly.

Thanks! I will try it next weekend. I need my phone this week. Hahaha
I ll post when I do so.
Do you know other similar cases of people who did that and worked?
The thing is, now I have Lollipop again an I noticed how slow the system is running with applications. I d love to have the update, but not sacrificing the GPS

I decided I won't make the test because it doesn't justify the risk and time.
I'll wait for a newer update or just stay with Lollipop.
Just to let you guys know in case someone was waiting for this

I downloaded GPS Status as suggested by SleepingAran and ran it once. Now my Waze is working seamlessly. Thanks!

There's another simple solution that works:
Follow exact steps:
1. Turn on location and set high accuracy mode
2. Open google maps
3. Move your phone several times in the shape of 8 (8-10 times should be enough)
4. Close google maps and clear it from recents screen
5. Start google maps again. Profit

WM6.0 of Hx2000 series (BUGS & Solutions)

Okay, lots of hx2000 users already flashed their roms, now facing the bugs:
# A2DP not working, please try this software. It might work for your IPAQ hx2000 series.
Attached Bluetooth Audio Router. Please give me reports if it works.
# Battery Drained Issue: Have you ever left your Pocket PC in your bag for the night and the next morning discovered that the handheld’s battery was flat?
ActiveSync
1) Go to Start> Program> ActiveSync> Menu> Add Server Source, under Server address put 1.1.1.1.
2) Tap Next (bottom right)
3) You’ll get three boxes to fill in: Username, Password, Domain. Fill in xxx in all, tap Next, Finish, Menu, Schedule
4)Peak times> change to manually
5) Off-peak times> change to manually
6) On top right click Ok
7) On bottom right click Menu> Options, on bottom middle click Delete, when you get the warning, click Yes.
You're all done. If you follow this fix correctly (as was originally stated above, it will almost always (as it would appear by others posts( fix the battery drain issue.
Messaging Accounts (Outlook Mobile)
Open up the messaging application. Tap Menu > Tools > Options > select the email account you wish to change, then tap Next > Next > Next > Options button. Remove the checkmark in the box next to "Connect and check for messages every xxx minutes." Then tap Next > Next > Finish.
Notifications
Tap Settings > Personal tab > Sounds & Notifications icon. Select the Notifications tab, and then tap the down arrow next to the Event dialogue box. Select the “Reminders” event and make sure "Repeat" is not checked.
Today Timeout
tap Start > Settings > Today icon > Items tab. Remove the checkmark next to “Today timeout” to disable the feature
HP Protect Tools
Do not use this, except you work for FBI and has lots of secret data.
Running Applications
Tap the Running Programs tab, select the application you wish to close, and tap the Stop button (or you can tap the Stop All button to close all running applications). Be sure all applications closed before turning off your IPAQ.
Power Setting
Pocket PC devices that are running Windows Mobile turn on at midnight to search for appointments for the coming day. Reminders are set and the Today view is updated with the day's events, thus on Battery power, turn off device if not used for 1 minute, Backlight on battery power: 30 seconds.
You can adjust whatsoever you want, the rule is turn off device > turn off backlight.
TODAY Plug-ins:
Better you uninstalled all today plug-ins thrid party progs.
Installed programs on SD/CF running in memory sometimes not respond after you turn on from automatic battery turn off.
It takes between 3-5 seconds to get response and/or sometimes program automatically closed by itself.
Solution: installed the programs in DEVICE.
Tips: Remove any unnecessary files in memory storage, so you will have more ROM memory storage.
After I turn on the device(2490b) from automatic battery turn off every time the backlight on battery power change to 10 seconds, no matter which setting I was choose. Until the device power off(auto or manually) the setting works, but after power on the setting change to 10 seconds again. Have anyone else this issue? Any solution?

Uhmm strange, try to do clean reset whether the symptom disappear.
BT phone manager that you missed in wm6.0
extracted from WM5.0
Dear All,
Please pay attention that after making changes, installing new software or doing your usual software settings it is advisable to power off your device before soft-resetting.
Example, I recently setup my Inbox mail accounts and soft resetted my device in a usual way. After a soft reset I found out that none of my accounts was actually kept. So, I did setup again, powered off my device and soft-resetted it. After soft-reset all mail accounts were saved and were workable
To limit CPU Usage
1.Do the Activesync Fake server trick then turn all schedule to manual
To prevent Compaction
1.As much as possible free your program memory and install all programs in the SD of CF (if possible)
2.Move all cache to SD or CF (memmaid or SKtools can do this)
Registry: ActiveSync Manually
The above Activesync fix will also fix the problem many are having with not being able to turn on their WM6 unit.
JUST TO MAKE SURE ACTIVESYNC IS MANUALLY ACTIVATED:
You can also check the following registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ActiveSync\Engines\{176F 4FFD-F20C-4bd4-BDD7-01D0726C567B}\Settings] SyncAfterTimeWhenCradled (x)
Where x is one of the following:
0=Manually synchronize
5=5 minutes. Default value.
15=15 minutes
30=30 minutes
60=60 minutes
120=2 hours
240=4 hours
Here is real fix for A2DP problem on any custom hx2000 firmwares (e.g. 3.50, 3.52, WM6).
Download this cab file: Udillak_A2DP_Fix_for_hx2000_custom_firmwares.cab
Install it, make softreset and relax with working sound and controls of your bluetooth headphones.
Hello,
Since I've installed WM6 on my hx2790b it's great for everything but the PIM...
It's impossible to add a contact, an appointment, etc... It tells me "An unexpected error has occurred in this program." And it's impossible to synchronize the PIM with my PC
Any idea ?
Try to flash rom again, but you must do clean reset before (holding 1+power+3+ and stylus-reset). After successful update, u must do a clean reser again (on screen "formatting ps").
Synchronizing with PC, you must use the latest ActiveSync 4.5.

Calibrating your Battery

Calibrating your Battery
Power issues you may experience with your iPAQ over time:
* Unit fails to Power On
* Unit fails to charge 100% only holding 50% of the charge
Important: If you experience problems with power on your unit the fault may not be with the main battery. Swap testing the battery with a known good working battery may show the same fault. Calibrating your unit by running the 'Battery Calibration' test may resolve 'Power Related Issues'. You must follow the tests below exactly for good results.
1. Charge the unit for 30 minutes (No More, No Less) only powered by AC Adapter and 22-pin connector and not connected to the PC/Cradle (make sure the unit is switched/powered off).
2. Remove the power and full 'Hardware Reset' and then 'Soft Reset'.
3. Charge the unit again for 4 hours connected to ac power only. By following the procedure exactly as outlined in the steps above this will enable full calibration of the battery with the unit (make sure the unit remains switched/powered off during this charge period).
Note: After a software reset the power Leds (Light Emitting Diodes) should now be on and the battery should be showing 100%. If the unit still fails on power do the following checks:
*Test the AC Adapter at another location/power source.
*Swap test The AC Adapter if possible.
THIS WILL HELP BATTERY DRAINED ISSUE of WM6.0 in some HX2000 series; USING SKTOOL or MEMMAID:
1. KILL BioDtect in Windows Startup
2. Set Credant Manager in StartupService as MANUAL and STOP.
3. Set Standby into 24 Hr in Power Setting
4. Soft reset
5. DO NOT EVER EVER RECHARGE YOUR IPAQ USING USB in the CRADLE!!! RECHARGE YOUR IPAQ USING CABLE POWER SUPPLY ADAPTOR!!!
Bricked My Ipaq! hx2795... HELP!!
Hi,
I just got an Ipaq hx2795 and I upgraded to WM6, and it worked perfectly!. However, I saw a supposedly upgraded version of WM6 and i tried to install it, and too hastily I think. I did it without first removing my SD and CF cards. the upgrade said it went through ok on the PC, but it froze on the PPC, about halfway. ever since then, I've only been able to bring up the pda in pre-BL mode. Whenever I attempt to re-load any ROM (WM5 or WM6), I get the error message that the language of my current ROM is unknown and hence, the upgrade cannot go through. To further complicate my problem, I was trying to recover it about 3 nights ago and accidentally left the pda on all night in pre-BL mode. Now I think the battery is dead and I do not know how to charge it. Is there any resource or anyone that can help me with this problem? Is there a way to load the rom and Ignore the language setting on the Ipaq? What should I do now? HELP!!
Please let me know ASAP and Thanks!!
reggae,
You didn't follow step by step the flashing ROM procedure....please read it carefully...as written at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329079
BEFORE FLASHING ROM: MAKE SURE IPAQ HAS BATTERY POWER ABOVE 80%
AFTER FLASHING ROM YOU MUST: CLEAN RESET AGAIN (FORMAT P.S.) and SOFT reset.
GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the assistance, however the flash keeps on saying that my pda's language is "unknown" and hence stops the upgrade as a result. What do i do about this?

WM6 hx2795 and WiFi
Hello everyone,
I just came across this forum today, and was very happy to. I flashed my rom from wm5 to wm6 and definitely like wm6 more.
Now for my bug. I'm using an hx2795. Wi-Fi worked in wm5, now after I flashed the WiFi manager will connect to a AP then says 'Driver not loaded.' and disconnect. I saw Anavas' post in the "i will pay..." thread and said that wifi was working on his. So, I'm guessing it's possible to have wifi on this model. I'm hoping he/she or someone else can help me out? It's just strange that it seems to start working (can shortly do SiteSurvey as well sometimes)...
As can be guessed the driver update from HP doesn't work (incorrect revision error).
Resetting makes it works for a short time, but then I get the 'Driver not loaded' thing.
/* EDIT
* This only appears to happen when in the cradle. I took it out and it didn't give me anymore problems...weird, maybe something to do with connecting through usb vs wi-fi conflict?
*/
Thanks a bunch.
CE OS 5.2.1437 (Build 17944.0.3.1)
hi,
I checked with my hx2795 and I don't have any problem connecting WiFi so far,
I can able to connect it from my home and the office.
I even checked with the cradle, I have no problem,
Have you done a hard reset once you flashed the ROM, or did you install any other driver / software ?
I used my ppc at school all day today, and plugged it in cradle just now. I can't repeat the error, so I have no idea how, but it's working just fine. So....solution was to do nothing and let it go away, haha.

No Problems To Install From Hp Rom 1.00.01h, Just Update In Pre-bootloader Mode In Windows Xp Sp2 Os. After Flashing No Need To Make Hard Reset, The System Starts Normaly. No Problems It Batery.
-put device into WHITE bootloader mode and again run the 1.0h rom setup. When you arrive at the screen that asks "update" or "cancel",
1. rename the wm5.xxx.nbf original from HP to wm5.xxx.nbf.old
2. rename the new wm6.xx.nbf from the 4pda.rar/pdaviet file to whatever your wm5-wm5.xxxx.nbf.
3.Flashing begin wait until finish. AC power must be conect. voila!!!
Normal Bootloader Mode:
contacts + mail + reset -let go and press calendar to activate
White Screen Bootloader Mode:
contacts + itask + reset -let go and press calendar to activate
Format P.S. (hold down until activated)(screen will say formating p.s. when activated):
contacts + messaging + power + reset
OR (I had to use this to format the p.s. after the PDAVIET rom upgrade)

Many problems after a Manilla2D/GPS job

Last night I installed Manilla2D, then the GPS - all worked excellent (didn't get satellites, but didn't go outside - beside the point), until I tinkered with the weather XML file and installed the rest of the files for M2D in the "Not necessary but recommended" folder. Having installed so much at once, I am not sure what caused this problem.
Problem: certain events aren't happening - weather module used to work with any city in the default list - now, clicking a city just brings me back to the screen that says "select a city", and the unresponsiveness continues to other programs. So I began uninstalling a couple that I thought may be the culprit, and now on startup, I get a "tap here to launch touchFlo". After tapping, it says launching, then it goes back to "Tap here to launch touchFlo...".
At this point, what do I do? So far I haven't done anything but install CAB files. Is there some way to just restore this to whatever state (even factory defaults, etc)?
you can go into settings and click on clear storage to reset everything. Keep in mind you will lose all personal data including contacts, so back every thing up.
You could also try going to settings then remove programs and start uninstalling programs one at a time untill you find the culprit.
Which update did you install? The latest is update 20, but update 21 is an elfin update so that's the one I picked. (The Elfin is a t least related to the vogue, update 20 is meant for ALL htc devices)
Another thing, what did you mean by "then gps"?
The proper order would be to have an upgraded radio first, then install M2D
The only known fool proof way to completely remove M2D itself is a hard reset. While this is true for M2D itself, you can try selectivley unloading the "extras" starting with the last and testing one by one.
BTW, a hard reset is done by holding the power and camera buttons down together while pressing the soft rest button.

[ROM] Elocity A7+ "EviLocity v1.0" Android 2.2 rooted rom.

ROM EviLocity 1.0 Android 2.2 Rabid ROM ----- Elocity A7+ ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Main features:
- Fully rooted with proper edit to boot.img for ro.secure+0 in the default.prop
- Based on last official 3.0022 firmware ( All A7+ no old A7 components).
- Edited proper default prop to 0,1,1,1 instead of 1,0,0,0
- Removed bloat apps
- Added EStrong Suite - Task, Security, and File Manager, and Rootexplorer.
- WiFi tweaks.
- Build.prop edits for performance, ram consumption (360MB free, varies).
- 1% Battery MOD
- Some graphics and font changes
- Duplicated libraries deleted.
- Some build.prop tweaks to improve performance, wifi responsiveness, and better ram consumption, etc
- Use UOT screen transitions
- New boot animation. "Zombies" ( unfortunately the system boots so fast now, you only get to see the whole thing the first boot. LOL)
- As far a testing goes everything works
Issues - None it did not have already(so far). Still has the SOD (sleep of death) issue. I have found that utilities that can set WiFi to "sleep never" help and I used Overclock widget to set the minimum power to 500MHZ. The system by default drops to about 150-200MHZ and when it drops that low it seems to hang. I have also found having something plugged into the USB can be removed and replaced quickly and the remount causes it to let you take it out of sleep. Perhaps other overclock tool can do the same and work better?
Download EviLocityV1.0
When installing an 8GB or smaller microsd works well.
Install Instructions:
This runs like a normal update so you should still have your apps, but the following is the best way to flash this ROM. Either way backup your files before using.
If by using this mod the world comes to and end, or you are suddenly sucked back in time only to accidentally kill your grandfather leaving your future uncertain, I take no responsibility for the consequences. Oh yeah. same thing if it screws up your tablet.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. REMEMBER TO BACKUP ANY THING YOU WANT SAVE BEFORE FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS. THIS WILL WIPE YOUR TABLET TO A CLEAN FACTORY-ISH STATE.
I have not tried using the built in update process in the system settings, feel free to give it a shot first, but this is the best way in MHO. Always have at least 50% battery but better still be plugged into power.
1. Copy the the update.zip file to a microsd either directly on your PC or through USB to the tablet external drive. In this case /sdcard/sdcard-disk0. Make sure it is the only update file on the card.
NEVER INSTALL ANY UPDATE FROM THE INTERNAL STORAGE. If something should go wrong you could be stuck with that same image reloading every time you try to go into recovery and you may never have a way to remove or get past it.
2. With the tablet powered off power on by holding down power button for two seconds, then release and press again and hold until you see the message " Hold power for 5 sec...."
3. Release power after the message "booting recovery kernel".
4. Wait until the Android with the triangle and exclamation over it's head pops up.
5. Press the home button to bring up the recovery menu. Use back to move down, and menu to select
6. Scroll down and select Wipe data & cache, then select Yes delete all user data . The tablet will reboot, just press and hold power until you see the recovery loading message again.
7. When complete select Wipe cache partition and wait until complete.
8. Select Apply update from external sdcard.
9. Scroll to the update.zip file and select it.
10. Wait for it to complete then select Reboot system now when prompted. Device will go through a few screen changes just sit back and wait for the boot animation.
The first boot will be slow as it has to rebuild the cache.
Thank you for the custom rom, everything functions well. However, visually, it's atrocious.
thank you. can't wait to try this rom out. im getting my A7+ in 3 weeks.

ATT Note 5 Native Tether/hotspot (NO Root) 6.0.1 MM

I am using an at&t note 5 (sm-920A) i downgraded from Nougat EQC6, 7.0.1 to 6.0.1. MM CPK1 with Binary 4 bootloader. This phone has never been rooted.
I now have access to hotspot in my notifications drop down menu, and USB tethering along with Bluetooth tethering work by just going to the option and switching them on.
My Goal was initially to downgrade to 5.1.1 to get root so i could make use of the Native Tether/Hotspot and other root apps on my ATT Note 5.
I am using this phone on the Straight Talk network.
This is my first how-to and first post. I apologize if i post in the wrong section or am unable to give more help to those in need.
I've searched/googled and although i have found workarounds i have not found any how-to's to get to this end result.
Ive been using my note 5 this way for a few days now with no problems. disabled att bloatware, knox, and system updates with package disabler pro.
With not having any issues, I flashed back to the 6.01 firmware to check my steps and write this how-to. Will update if anything changes.
WARNING!!
Some things i did may be unnessary but were in my process at the time of writing/doing this so are included
I haven't tested everything on this phone.
I don't know if there are any bugs.
I don't know what will happen when updated.
I do not garuntee this will work for you.
I take NO responsibility if your decision to try/do this fails.
The Search button and google were my biggest helpers.
Here is my process as laid out and straight forward as i could think to write it.
Things you will need:

Big Thank you to these guys for posting this stuff, and everything else they post.
I am assuming you know how to put your phone into download mode and use odin in the following instructions. I left my phone connected to my pc with sim card in the entire process.
1. Unzip N920AUCS4CPK1, then Flash using odin. Use all 4 files in their respected spots. nothing else has to be changed hit start.
After reboot I setup up the phone enough to get to settings and enable developer options. making sure to turn on adb debugging and oem unlock. then rebooted to download mode
2. In Odin, Flash N920AUCE2APB2.tar in the BL slot and COMBINATION_FA51_N920AUCU4APL1_CL6053901_QB11816686_REV00_user_mid_noship.tar in the AP slot. (I flashed these two at the same time)
Phone will reboot to binary splash screen then start regularly. For me the phone Played boot music and (vibrated then vibrate twice) repeatedly. Bootloop
If this happens to you as well,
2a. Shut phone off by holding volume down key and power button.
(If you are brought to a screen that says power key long press in yellow with other information below[well call this the info screen, not sure on its proper name],
then power off by holding volume down key and power key again, releasing both when screen goes blank.
2b. When the phone is completly off reboot to recovery by holding volume up key and power key.
Do a factory reset and wipe cache. Then reboot. (If it freezes at cache complete, power off with volume down key and power key).
Holding power button for 10 seconds or more will boot you to info screen again.
3. Your phone should load to a home screen with what looks like a debugging menu as the background.
4. Turn phone off and boot to download mode.
5. In Odin, load BL, AP, and CP from N920AUCS4CPK1. Leave CSC blank. No other options should be changed in Odin.
6. You will reboot to recovery. Use reboot option. dm verity check will start then phone should reboot to normal setup initialization.
7. If for some reason your phone shows the wrong storage size, go to back-up and resert in settings and o a factory data reset mine was showing up as 16gb where as it is 64gb
That was everything i did.
If with straight talk send a text to 611611 with the mesage being apn.
afrter a few minutes they will send a configuration message for browser and mms.
Install both. They should say installed when complete.
For others you will have to input your apn settings manually.
My phone showed H+ for the first few minutes, has been showing 4g ever since.
Just a few thoughts before i post, but are in no way tested or confirmed...
I'm thinking coming from cpk1 full firmware you could just flash the combination file in the AP slot.
Then after reboot to Download mode flash the cpk1 firmware without the CSC file and hve the same result,
but I havnt had a chance to test that yet as i need my phone running, and will soon have to go to work.
The main reason the N920AUCE2APB2.tar file was used was because i was playing around flashing different files it may or may not be needed. further testing is needed. but it was there during this process so i included it. Again I apologize if this could be simplified or if i left anything out. any comments are appreciated positive or negative. Thanks
So i did a little testing. Flash cpk1 all files. Then flash the custom binary and rebooting to download mode. Then flash the cpk1 files again minus the csc file. Leave that slot(csc) empty in odin and it will give you native hotspot and tethering. You get hotspot from notification drop down menu and No more contact att. It will take away the calls over wifi option though.
I will edit this walkthrough (if you canveven call it that) soon to reflect the changes. Thank you for reading.

[ATT Note 5. on straight talk]
This process also works using this firmware. i updated from cpk1 using my process in post #2. i left out the (csc) and pit file in the N920A_N920AUCS4EQL1_ATT_USA_7.0.zip huynhlam posted in the link above. I am now on 7.0 with native hotspot and mobile hotspot icon in the notification drop down menu working . i can upload pictures but atm im not familiar with the best free file hosting sites so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i will keep trying different firmwares and update with results.

Hello Badbrane, I followed your instructions and I succeeded
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: After some testing I found out a bluetooth issue.
The first time I turn the device on, the bluetooth works fine. Then, after a reboot, I can't turn bluetooth on any more.
If I go through a Factory reset I will get the bluetooth working again, till next reboot
I need some help. I'm stuck in 2b (yellow information screen). when i hold [volume down] + [power button] it restarts instead of turning off. What should I do?
The combination file is no longer on Android file host. Any chance you have another link?
Im blind

I havnt really messed with the bluetooth much on my note 5 since i did this process. there are definetly a few bugs but my only concern was being able to use hotspot and tether. found out later that the system will try to auto update but it crashes every time so i no worring about hitting binary 5, as far as i know that is

Motorola One Action auto update failed now stuck on "Just a sec..."

Hi,
My Motorola One Action is original (so no custom firmware or rooted) and every now and then i receive auto updates. Recently the phone was upgraded to Android 11. Fine.
Last weekend there was an update and in the morning the phone was stuck on Android bootloader with the question "format" or "retry" (cannot remember exactly, but it was 2 questions) and i chose "retry". The device rebooted; android logo showed up and then the google/android assistant showed up with the notification "Hello" and a lanuage selector.
I choose NL or EN and then a white screen with "Just a sec..." appears and this screen will stay there forever. I put the phone on charger and waited 30 hours, still the same.
What i tried:
- reboot;
- press & hold power button long time; reboot;
- turn off and then volume Down + Power key bootloader. There isnt much i can do here;
- from screen above; go to fastboot mode (volume Up + power) but unfortunately there is no whipe cache option; only whipe data / factory reset.
FYI: there are still a lot of photo's on the device; i dont want a factory reset and/or whipe data.
I put device in bootloader mode again, connect with usb and installed "Rescue and Smart Assistant". The device recognized, IMEI is found and more stuff. In this Windows app i can download the correct firmware; i store it in c:/motorola/firware. The file is troika_reteu_rsbs31.q1-48-36-23-2_subsidy-default_regulatory-default_cfc.xml.zip
The the "Start Rescue" button is shown; but the message "Flashing removes all data from device".
I dont want that so i followed this guide:
The conversion went OK and executed the file generated (.bat), immediately a upload process starts; this takes about 5-6 minutes. After that; a device reboot and still... the same result.
Any tips or advice would be very helpful (i hope).
I found this; looks promising

How to bypass Google Account Verification - FRP lock on Motorola One Action Android 11 2021 2022 without computer XT2013 Amazon Prime & Factory Unlocked
lgstylo3plus.com
But unfortunately the image browser does not respond.
I have contacted Motorola / Lenovo using their forum. In short their answer is that for almost sure the only way is to completely reset the device that means whiping data.
Is there absolutely no way to access the data partition?
I used ADB to flash a newer and older version of android.
Both version gave a error message directly when phone powered on.
Then i re-installed the current version of android; phone worked again. Unfortunately all data lost.
