How do you know the bootloader locked?
Can you still boot to TWRP with the bootloader locked?
Shouldn't be possible I don't think.

I know right? How is that even possible? Look at this pic

My friend has the same message, but when he boot up the phone, the "unlocked" message appears... TWRP and ROOT working fine.

Yeah if the unlocked message shows on boot then the in ROM detection is just bugged

Do you have magisk installed? I think when you have the magisk hide enabled, MIUI thinks that the bootloader is locked.
I had the phone unlocked for a while with no root or costum recovery. As soon I flashed magisk, that message changed to lock.

Unroot and relock the boot loader and you won't see that anymore.

i don't want to unroot so pretty much im stuck with it
Its not so much unrooting, but locking the bootlaoder. The little lock signifies an unlocked bootloader.

so what will happen in regards to locking the bootloader will i be able to use recovery and have root
I don't think you will be able to use recovery but since superuser has already been flashed I think it would stay but I'm really not sure.

I think that re-locking may wipe your device just like unlocking does; in which case you'll use root... or not?

If you lock the bootloader whatever recovery that you have installed will stay regardless if you are rooted or not and you would still be able to use that recovery.

No. Relocking the bootloader does NOT wipe your device. A locked bootloader will prevent you from being able to fastboot flash ANY images which includes the factory image or parts thereof (system, boot, recovery, bootloader). Using the command fastboot oem unlock will always wipe your device!
If you are unlocked, rooted and use a custom recovery like TWRP you can lock (or unlock) the bootloader with BootUnlocker and still use your custom recovery. And that will also get rid of the unlocked icon. I've used BootUnlocker and it works great. After locking the bootloader and you are still rooted you might even be able to use Flashify to install a new/updated recovery or boot image, I haven't tried that so I'm not sure. I don't have BootUnlocker installed now because I have no problem with my bootloader always being unlocked and I have no idea if it will continue to work after future android updates.
Update: With a locked bootloader I just used Flashify to flash TWRP and it worked fine.

Unlock it like to use it what any carrier or what gotta be more specific cuz its already kinda unlocked to flash whatever you want
The locked bootloader is an HTC thing.
^^^^^ thinks you mean carrier unlock to use on another network, or do you mean root access to install software and tweak your system?

Sorry if I come off as a bit if an idiot, never messed with Samsung stuff before. I want to install a custom ROM, and I've tried using ODIN to install CWM but it doesn't seem to be sticking, it just keeps booting into the stock recovery.

Nope.
You aren't coming across as an idiot.
I recommend TWRP, installed thru odin. You don't by chance have a Canadian phone? It has an "m" at the end of the model.
As soon as Odin shows 'pass' disconnect the phone and pull the battery before the phone reboots. Then put in the battery and boot.

Cannot seem to install custom recovery. Rooted and I THINK bootloader is unlocked.
Hi everyone, I'm in dire need of help.
I believe my bootloader is unlocked and I'm rooted using the one click method. But no matter what I do I can't seem to get a custom recovery installed. Please help me and advise me on what to do.

After you unlock your bootloader the splashscreen when booting has a WHITE background, not black. Unless you have seen and replaced the splashscreen then you haven't unlocked the bootloader and you can flash until the cows come home but it won't do any good...

Official unlock tool or XDA unlock tool?
Once you unlock using ASUS's tool it removes you from the update server or so it has been said...
You can still download from ASUS site and flash through recovery but it generally don't get OTA's...

Xiaomi mi5s root and bootloader unlock?

Hey guys, i have been looking for a guide how to root our device and unlock the bootloader. I have found only guides for mi5 but are they diffrent than our phone? Or is it safe to say that they are the same and i can root the way they do it? And to unlock bootloader, i just wrote to xiaomi, or is there a easier way?
Thanks for help guys
Hi to unlock the bootloader you have to sign up on xiaomi website and sent them the request for approval there is no other way to do it. Once this is done (it takes a few days to get a reply) you can finally unlock the bootloader using xiaomi unlock app, flash twrp and then root the phone using SuperSU. I hope this helps.

But I didn't see twrp support for 5s, only for the 5. Same for supersu. Did you root your phone?

And SuperSU link sir?
For SuperSU you don't even need to disturb Google, just type supersu in the search box on the banener of this page.
Get the stable v2.79 flashable from TWRP zip.

Hey, I also received a notification for this. My concern is that I might lose root access, which I don't want to. I'm assuming I can just boot a 10.0.4 kernel and re-root with magisk, but im nervous. Thanks for the post.

I tried installing it but I can't, not sure if it's because my bootloader is unlocked or what. I'm currently on stock, unlocked, no other modifications or root so I couldn't tell you if you'll lose root or not.

I ended up pulling the trigger flashing and I'm currently sitting on global version with root using 10.0.7. The process was a little tedious, but I got it working! Post install stuff was a breeze.

Perhaps T-Mo are just jerks.
OnePlus global firmware and installer doesn't care if you're rooted or not, through 10.0.7 at least. It'll download and install the full ROM image and install.
Did anyone ever manage to take the update here?

Hey guys! I have figured it out. It's the same reason why the McLaren version can't accept a OTA. The reserve.img file is missing due to unlocking the boot loader. I had version 10.0.3 installed and found a un-brick tool to return it back to stock. After that it worked just fine.
Un-brick tool:

You are absolutely correct.. Would you be willing to do a device restore again and pull that reserve.img for us all? We can then make an OTA package for everyone else.

I would be honered to help you.. Can you please tell me what version of OOS your running? And I'm going to assume you are already bootloader unlocked? If so, please visit https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/how-to/guide-how-to-root-oneplus-7t-twrp-t3979307
Download one of the patched_boot images and reboot your phone into the bootloader and run "fastboot boot patched_boot.img" (This will give you temp root)
Install magisk manager from https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/tag/manager-v7.5.1
Open Magisk and select install. Go thru the install process as this will patch YOUR current boot image.
I'd recommend making a backup of your current boot image before installing the magisk into your current bootimg. You can open an adb shell and do "su" then "dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot_a of=/sdcard/boot_a.img" or "dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot_b of=/sdcard/boot_b.img" depending on if your current slot is A or B.

Do you have IRC or another way to talk to me? I will help you.. The first step is to get your phone NETWORK unlocked(msg XDA member @mobbdeep).. After that, you can request a bootloader unlock from oneplus, then you flash the unlock token.. Then, you boot a modded bootimg. Then install magisk.. If you are on IRC, hit me up on freenode at bynarie. Otherwise, send me a PM.
