Update to Nougat Out of USA and with GSM sim card - Verizon HTC One (M9)

Hello everyone, i have a doubt about update my verizon.
This is the problem:
I have an Unlocked HTC One M9 Verizon with Android 6.0, i use the phone witg GSM sim card (not CDMA), i have no problems to use, 2g, 3g and 4g.
I live in Argentina, and i can't update to Nougat, when i try via OTA it says that only can be done through CDMA network, and in HTC Sync Manager the "loading" bar stuck on 1% and nothing happens.
A saw another post that have the RUU Nougat 4.49.605.11 signed for Verizon HTC One M9.
My questions:
1) It will work my GSM card after flash this zip?
2) How do i know if it's compatible with GSM sim card this update
3) Anyone on XDA made this update working on GSM?
My phone:
Unlocked HTC One M9 Verizon
OS: Full Stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Security: S-ON
Bootloader: Locked
Recovery: No recovery installed on the phone, even factory recovery.
The post where i saw the RUU Signed is: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...t/6-0-verizon-htc-one-m9-marshmallow-t3316279

I Live in Mexico and had the same (working on GSM chip) I followed the steps in this post and I'm now on Android 7.0 working fine on GSM 4GLTE, be warned that it will do a full wipe, backup anything you need to keep.

You flashed the signed ruu zip? Are you s-on, locked and full stock? So, you flash the zip and everything works great?
I buy this phone in aliexpress, is new.

Help to get out of boot loop bricked LTE HTC One

Ok, found this to be a recurring question here at the forum and read through as many posts as I could. Unfortunately none seem to be quite what I need...
Bought a rooted Verizon 4G HTC One and it was working kind of fine with the rom it came though I wanted to try the Google Play one.
Well it didn't work - and - I accidentally wiped the original rom installer (was a NuSense). Now it bootloops with every other rom I've tried. Last one being NOS 1.0.2 m7wlv Google Play Edition - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2416875 )
My device information (from the bootloader screen):
Code:
M7_WLV PVT SHIP S-OFF RH
CID-11111111
HBOOT-1.54.0000
RAID-4T.21.3218.21
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617
OS-1.10.605.10
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Sep 9 2013,11:53:38.0
And the recovery is
Code:
Team Win Recovery Project v2.6.3.2
Please someone put me out of this misery
thanks!
I've been doing some tinkering and I'm about to try some other roms - not really specific ones to m7wlv though.
Found some posts of people blaming on TWRP version used causing similar problem.
Was worried though: by Team Win's page I couldn't find a m7wlv specific recovery (for 2.7 or any other). They do have a simple "M7" version... is it safe to install that one?
I'm worried that if I break the recovery mode, I won't be able to upload files not even with ADB, thus meeting the fine brick stage for the device.
thoughts?

I am confused now. Not sure which firmware should I update to. My phone is a M7_WLV, however it is a GSM phone - this is the opposite a this blog post (cant add the URL) says:
(...) If you’ve got the International GSM HTC One (m7) or the Verizon CDMA variant (m7wlv) (...)

(note: I already have S-OFF, this is just an example).
In the other hand Wikipedia seems to agree (although it doesn't says if GSM ou CDMA):
The HTC One 801n LTE versions (M7_WLJ, M7_WLV), Verizon HTC One HTC6500LVW (M7_WLV) LTE version

So, to be sure, could someone tell me the correct firmware to update on a Verizon 4G GSM HTC One M7_WLV?

Thanks a lot cmlusco! I managed to get some of the ROMs working now. Still, my phone isn't connecting to the GSM network - over configurations I see CDMA items, so I think I either updated the wrong firmware or still have to update.
I've tried the same rom you show in your signature (since you seem to have the same phone - which by the way, is it GSM or CDMA?), but it reboots during these "welcome" screen after the SO loads up.
Could you hint me which firmware are you using?
thanks!
f.
What country are you in, and who is your wireless provider?
The Verizon One (like most smartphones Verizon releases these days) is a GSM + CDMA hybrid that supports GSM out of the box unlocked for global roaming. It's still meant to be used on Verizon's CDMA network though - that means support for just a few 2G GSM bands and no 3G HSPA as far as we can tell.
So no, there's only one M7_WLV and that's the CDMA Verizon One. GSM support on this phone is really just an added bonus. If you're not in the US and don't use them, I'd recommend you exchange it with the international model, or at least an AT&T or T-Mobile model so you get proper GSM support.
Thank you all!
Finally managed.
Updated latest firmware version and recovery and all started working again!
cheers lads,
f.

[Q] Updating my HTC One M8

Hey guys,
I've been searching but couldn't find anything that really helps with my problem. I bought an HTC One M8 last year, it was supposed to be unlocked from factory but when it arrived it turned out it was an unlocked AT&T model. Anyways so I tried to root the phone but it was already rooted and running a TWRP (I don't know how this happened as the phone was sealed when I got it) I have no problem with this but as the phone is rooted and doesn't have the stock recovery I can't get any OTA and I'm still in 4.4.2. I was wondering if any of you guys could help me update my device to stock 5.0.1 without flashing a custom ROM.
Thanks

First off, there is no stock 5.0.1 for the AT&T version yet. There isn't even a 4.4.4 released yes (although it might be anytime soon).
Further, you aren't going to receive any OTAs since you aren't connected to the AT&T network. Some folks not specifically familiar with AT&T will disagree, saying the OTAs will come over WiFi even if not connected to the specific carrier. But AT&T is pretty unique in this regard (well, maybe other carriers in the US do it too, but not WWE versions).
You can download an official RUU to upgrade to 4.4.3. Then wait for RUUs to be posted for 4.4.4 and/or 5.0.1. That is all you can do at this time without s-off. With s-off, you can convert to any version you want, and get official OTAs that way (such as convert to WWE version), or run the US Developer's Edition 5.0 RUU.

World Wide English. Which doesn't really say much. Its the "international" version sold in Europe and other places.

Nope, your second option won't work. You need firmware on your phone that is compatible with 5.0.1, otherwise WiFi will be broken, and.or extreme long boot times (>10 minutes). And the only way to update your firmware is with s-off (until AT&T releases more updates).
So really, if you want to update now, your only option is s-off.
Ok dude, thanks for your help. I guess I'll have to s-off

If you want to update now, that is what I suggest. I don't see LP coming to AT&T for another month at least, and it might be even longer than that (months). We're still waiting for 4.4.4.
Be sure to check bootloader and confirm if its s-on or s-off (says one or the other near the top of the hboot screen). Since it was already rooted and bootloader unlocked, who knows, you might have lucked out and gotten a phone that is already s-off as well.
Yeah and like you said if I'm not connected to the AT&T network I might never get the update so it is the only option. BTW I checked and it's S-On =(
Thanks for your help.

Help needed determining RUU for M8

Hello guys, I need a asap help and will be very thankful for guidance.
I recently bought a used HTC one M8 Gold 32GB, it is in pristine condition, just weeks used, but when I came home and did a reset I realized that it was a rooted phone. But then I discovered that there were some apps like Sprint Worldwide and there were many instances where I found Sprint written, (I have no SIM installed and neither do we have Sprint in our country). So I ended up assuming that it was rooted by the original user solely to unlock the device? I am currently in 4.4.2 and unable to update as it keeps stucking on checking screen. Now I want to revert the device to its original condition and need help doing that. I heard that it can be done by installing RUU so I went to:
htc . com / us / support/rom-downloads
and downloaded: 4.25.651.18 (assuming it is a Sprint)
and then placed it in the sdcard but after HBOOT takes some loading time, it just says invalid image. I have also tried renaming it with no hope.
the bootloader is Locked/ M8_WHL PVT SHIP S-OFF.

First you need to post the results of fastboot getvar all. REMOVE your serial and IMEI numbers from the pasted info before posting. We need to see hopefully the firmware that is currently on the device.
If it is Sprint and you have downloaded the correct RUU file, you do NOT put it on the SD card, you leave it on your Windows PC, attach the device to the PC with USB cable and run the RUU as administrator in Windows. Before that, download HTC Sync Manager and let it install, then delete it. It will leave behind the HTC drivers which you need.

It's definitely Sprint but the firmware is ancient. Run the RUU file and hopefully it will go thru. If not, we'll have to find a way to update your firmware one at a time, but as you are S-OFF it will be easy enough as long as we can find the firmwares.
Sprint RUU can be found Here, this is the latest Lollipop version.
Get your phone into fastboot mode and simply run the RUU .exe file while your phone is plugged into the computer via USB.

Sprint is CDMA. No doubt about it. The CDMA version M8 supports CDMA, GSM and HSPA, but not as many HSPA bands as the "pure" GSM M8 (basically any version except Sprint and Verizon).
What bands does your carrier use for 3G (HSPA)? I'm guessing that your carrier uses bands not supported by the Sprint version. In which case, you are out of luck. The Sprint (or Verizon) version is not recommended for anyone outside the US, and not on the specific (Sprint or Verizon) carrier.
You can't flash RUU, radio, or firmware from other versions to Sprint (even with s-off). As mentioned, the flash will either fail or brick the phone.

HTC One M9 on Bluegrass Cellular

Back in August, I got a HTC One M9 from Bluegrass Cellular. (The phone came with Android 5.1) I decided to root it and try a custom ROM. I downloaded a snapshot for CM13 himawl. (Since that's the variant according to Download mode) I flashed it in TWRP only to get an error about sbl1. I since found an unofficial nightly of cm12.1 himawl built on November 17, 2015. It flashed and works fine to this day, but I'd like to have newer features and better security. How would I go about doing this? I can't seem to find the correct RUU. I tried the unlocked RUU to see if it would work, but it was to no avail. I'm S-on if that helps.

I'm pretty sure that in order to use a Marshmallow-based ROM (ie, CM 13), you need the Marshmallow firmware first. I imagine the same will be true for Nougat ROMs....though I don't think we've got anything beyond stock just yet.
I imagine that if you were able to achieve S-OFF on your phone, you could apply the appropriate RUU to get you up to the latest available firmware for your phone. To be clear, I don't know what that is (I'm not familiar with the himawl models) - but it should be possible.

Just for the fact you get an extra chance to unbrick if it goes wrong is worth the $25. IMO S-OFF is a necessity for htc phones.
Beamed in by telepathy.
I tried the test in the Sunshine app, but it said to flash stock or near stock rom. I mistakenly didn't backup my stock ROM before flashing cm12.1. Anyone know a ROM I could flash to s off?

You're on Android 5, right? Android Revolution HD 14, which is built off of stock Android 5.1.0, should do the trick.
Very important sidenote: Don't change the MID/CID or the firmware of this device! It's a CDMA one and therefore not compatible with the GSM firmwares like the dev edition or the WWE one. Otherwise you'll end up with a fancy new paperweight. Just stay with the SKU (the three numbers between the second and the third dot in the firmware version) it is currently using since not even the different CDMA firmwares/devices are compatible with each other.

In my case, the SKU is 605. Is there a newer 605 I can update to access Marshmallow? I recall when I was stock, I tried to update to MM through OTA in settings, but apparently my carrier never approved the update. 5.1 appeared to be the "latest."
605 is the verizon-branded firmware. There definitely is an android m update for your phone.

It's Verizon WWE. That's not the same as sku 401 (WWE).
Either you try that one or you download the exe from the HTC US website.
I can't say for sure whether it'll work. According to the sku the RUU should be flashable. You'll need to try by yourself. An alternative would be contacting llabtoofer's RUU service. However that one isn't for free. (Either search for it via google or use the direct link in my google sheet if you want to use that service.)

I mistakenly flashed verizon firmware and now I've lost the network signals, My phone is currently in boot loop, restarting at it's own, I can't use open Mobile Networks App, My networks are not working at all, Some expert told me it's because I flashed wrong Radio.img along with rest of firmware.
Please provide me with stock firmware for Bluegrass Cellular.
I've lost every hope.

Flippy498 did all the work. I just did some searching
rename to 0PJAIMG.zip place on sd card and reboot should fix it
Again its Flippy498's work

stuck in logo and won't start nor reboot

I bought second hand htc M9, I found sprint rom in it :
"***unlocked***
htc_himawhl pvt
s-off
cid-11111111
os-3.41.651.4
feb 3 2016"

but in the back cover of the phone it was written model: 0PJA120 (that was Tmobile model)
I decided to convert it to dev Edition,I changed the CID and MID
I installed fullstock firware 4.23.617.1 then the RUU 4.23.617.1 and I rebooted the device but no simcard no imei no baseband,
* I tried to flash another kernel "HTC Sense Android 7.0 Nougat ElementalX-m9-5.00" so in order to perform the flashing:
I installed twrp-2.8.5.0-hima.img then I updated it to twrp-3.1.1-0-hima.img using sd card method
The recovery offer me to root the device so I accept,
After that I copied the ElementalX-m9-5.00 zip to sd card and flashed it using twrp recovery,
but, unfortunately, after rebooting to system it's stuck in logo screen and won't start nor reboot to download mode and couldn't connect to PC.
I need real help!
If you lose your reception and the sim doesn't get recognized after flashing a GSM RUU then you definitely own a CDMA model. Due to the different partition layouts of the CDMA and the GSM versions of the M9 you might have damaged the hardware at that point.
You can try un-converting the phone. If you're lucky the phone will be working, again.
The bootloop on the other hand probably got caused by an incompatible SuperSU version. Older TWRP versions flashed SuperSU versions that are only compatible with firmware 1.x of the M9. Due to the bootloop problem in connection with higher firmware versions that feature got removed from newer TWRP versions.

You need to hold volume up and power for about 15-20 seconds and phone will power off, then hold volume down and power to enter download mode.
From there I think it's simple for you. Do what @Flippy498 said.

I think the HIMA_UHL ASIA twn is gsm and its sku is 709, am i right?
BTW, I had access to the download mode after the battery was drained to 0, I'm keeping it in twrp recovery mode until I find a solution.
If your phone was GSM you wouldn't have lost your mobile reception and your sim card would have still been recognized after flashing the dev edition RUU. GSM variants can be converted from one version to another without any issues. If I were you I wouldn't trust whichever website you used and would ask HTC directly.

You are right, I flashed the sprint ruu edition and it works fine, then i flashed the twrp recovery and i rooted the device with supersu, and I followed some instruction to unlock the simcard, and finally everything is fine except the main problem which is the absence of mobile sharing network setting, and you already gave me a logical explanation for that.
thank you so much
I have learned flashing lesson from you
