Same problem here. I used this wide aperture button and it even blurred things the way I want it to, but when you make a shoot, you got just normal photo without any side effects

I have also faced the same problem with my honor 7x..I have already tired camera data clear and camera app force stop but nothing is working. Anybodys give me the proper solution.?

Just tried this with my Mate SE and it works. The wide aperture does have a scale down at the bottom, to adjust the significance of the effect. Slid it all the way left and it works pretty well.

So, it looks like the 'wide aperture' setting is available for the back camera (pic above), but the selfie camera has, instead, the bokeh setting (they both, essentially, mean the same thing).
I verified the selfie camera with the bokeh setting works fine also, on mine. But started to wonder if this is software implemented etc.
So here is the exif data for the above pic (the selfie one is the same in the following important data):
Pretty amazing the exif data indicates the f stop is at 1.0 or even 0.9? Hmmmmm

Yeah, it's kindof expensive to get a lens that actually opens to an f1 stop
Only about $4,500 for a used one on Ebay

New Night Mode is awesome - post your night mode images

the JB update for TMO GS3 got a new (atleast to me) night mode that is phenomenal
seems like it's doing multiple captures then merge, noise reduction, and tone map for the result
end result is image quality about equal to when taken with ISO 600-800 but brightness equal to about ISO 3200-6400 when compared to my dSLR (set to f/2.8).
I dont have any sample images on hand. Show me yours
Sounds like HDR. I don't see a "night mode" on my camera.
Galaxy S3 on TMO
do you have the latest official JB update (came out a day few days ago)?
it's actually called "low light". second option from the bottom in the shot mode selection.
Ah, that might be it. Haven't tried it yet.

I think I shook my hand on the LLS (low light shot).

Just a quick comparison, but this is one nifty trick I didn't know Jelly Bean had baked in. Definitely helps.

True, that's why it's nice to have both option, especially if the night mode photo is actually usable, not just a failure attempt.
With that being said, so even though we have flash, it's still nice to have a usable low light mode.

The new low light shot does sit there and process like the hdr does. Thanks for mentioning, did not even notice the shooting mode.

Can you guys post the exif data of a pic taken with the new night mode? I'd like to see the ISO the pic is taken in. Usually to take a pic in low light conditions, the ISO is boosted. I just want to see how high the ISO goes to.

Flash results in a harsh lighting result, where night mode gives a less harsh, but brighter/clearer picture than we had before.

Go to the picture you've taken in night mode and look at the details of the pic. If you can take a screenshot of that, that'd be great.

[Workaround] Fix noise reduction and oversharpening without root or bootloader unlock

After being bored for quite some time i found a way to bypass the horrible noise reduction and oversharpening via an external app without voiding the warranty in any way, but this results in a quite raw looking image being in jpeg, so you need to apply your own noise reduction via photoshop or any else method.
Using FreeDcam app from the play store
Set the main camera api to camera1
Jpeg quality - 100
CustomMatrix - imx362
And on the right side of the menu
Wavelet Denoise - Denoise-off
Zero shutter lag - on
You can also change anything if u swipe up from below except the iso, because u change the iso from the left iso button, i recommend setting sharpness the prism to 0-10

Well i figured out i was pushing it too hard with hdr scene mode and forgot to change api to camera1
Working like a charm now .
Thanks buddy. Also try moving this thread to "Apps Themes and Mods" section
Thanks for this workaround - it really makes a difference especially for us without the time to root the phone.
Is there a way to make FreeDcam app to make a shutter noise so that we know we actually took a picture? Right now there's no indication and I have to go to the gallery to make sure.
I applaud the effort to find another workaround!
This is interesting to me, however I must admit- those images have a lot of ugly artifacts that are now baked in. Yes, it appears to be getting around the NR smoothed look, but it looks like it is doing so by adding a layer of grain before the jpeg compression. Without the camera2 api, I'm not sure it is possible for an application to actually access the raw frame buffer before the chromatix, etc, libs get involved. My first hunch in that this look is artificially created by the app after the camera routine has done its processing.
In other words, it looks almost like grain is being added to give the illusion of details in much of the same way we can get details in lower color spaces via dithering. Even relatively well exposed parts of the frame that shouldn't have noise have noise. And then some heavy jpeg compression on top of it, so removing it in post with Photoshop/LR/etc is going to eat a lot of detail- arguably at least as much if not more than you were getting with moto cam. Have you tried to clean any up in post and compared them side by side with moto cam?
Interestingly, if you enable the camera2 API, there is a version of FreeDcam that can record actual sensor RAW from the G5+, and one of the only apps that can properly. But once you are doing that you are better off with any of the various Google Cam versions floating around for 32-bit Nougat. Root access isn't necessary, however in order to enable the camera2 api, you need to be able to change a line in build.prop. At the very least, you need to unlock the bootloader so that you can change a system file. You can remain stock and unrooted though. I know, not for everyone, but I recommend it if image quality is important to you.
I still think you need to enable camera2 at a minimum to get better image quality, if not just replacing chromatix libs. But this is an interesting find.

GCam 8.2 compatible with Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite

Since it's hard to find some up-to-date guides for Google Camera on A2 Lite in 2021, I just wanted to share the latest info.
GCam 8.2 by the_dise appears to be fully compatible. There is only a small caveat: HDR+ and portrait mode are unsupported on the front camera, so having them on while using the front camera will silently fail.
Photo quality is better with GCam when you focus on the details, and especially night photos are unbelievably better. If you take pictures in the dark, it's a must.
For completeness -- it is necessary to have the Camera2 API enabled in order for GCam to work. Custom ROMs usually have this switch in settings (or even a QS tile), usually titled "Camera HAL", which you need to set to "HAL3". To enable it on the stock ROM, follow this guide by @h3r0n, but use this patched_boot.img by @Antho02 for the latest (11.0.18.0) firmware.
I installed it and for some reason i can't seem to find the setting for making a bokeh photo (where the subject is focused and the background is blurred). Does this version simply not have this mode or am I missing something?

That's not exactly what I mean. I have a different Gcam (GCam_7.0.009_DevMod) and it has "portrait" but also "Focus Effect" on the bottom bar.
it's the second mode i'm referring to.
It's the one where you take a picture and then move the phone up a bit. When enabling it, you get a quick flower icon on screen.

on the other GCam there is one additional mode to the left of "night vision", which is "focus effect". though it may have a different name in English (my phone is in Dutch).

Apparently that was called "Lens Blur" in English and was removed in favor of the portrait mode. (I remember version 7.3 not having it, so somewhere before 7.0 and 7.3 it got removed.)

It seems like that's how GCam updates work, they keep redundant features for a bit to make people used to them. The newest version has an additional "night sight" switch in the Camera mode, but it also still has the Night Sight mode -- most likely a similar situation.
Pls. Delete
Shows a Toast message, "DMGC is crashed" when taking a photo and then the app crashes after a few seconds.
I tried this on LineageOS 18.1
Works like charm for me
Using it with havoc os android 11, with HAL 3

Actually all cams are made for user based situations...
As we are not using basic or RAW GCam released by Google,
We are using modded GCams.
So different cams have different functionality and special qualties..
It depends which one you wanna choose for your work.
Someone only takes selfies while other takes macro, somebody takes landscape at day somebody is astrography lover.
As a result, I am giving all options to the user, so they can enjoy shooting and get better picture based on their needs and needs.
Hope you have understood.

Is Android 10 supported in this cam?
Edit. Downloaded this and it's looks like this build is based on Google camera 8.3.252. Not 8.5

Sorry, my apologize.
I fixed that. It's 8.3 now.
Download the latest config. It has been updated.
This is optimised for Realme gt ME right? The xml?
Any chance we can get rid of the xml name thing on the top right?
Edit: other modes than main do not work properly. Eg colour mode turn images greyscale. Exact opposite. So we are supposed to only use Main mode. Right?
Sub Edit 1: After experimentation, the colour mode only works if the AWB is on. If its off then it produces greyscale images.
I feel the images are less vibrant than the default realme UI camera.
Edit2: What is EV icon next to the shutter button? AW is auto white balance, what is EV?
