Apple earphones volume buttons not working - Xiaomi Mi 5s Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I recently acquired this iphone headset, the mic and play/pause button are working correctly. However, the volumen buttons are not. I found this link https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69138210&postcount=4, but I don't now how can I edit the system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl file. I'm using lineage 14.1 and I have root access. Any help is appreciated.

This is a hardware issue not a software issue.
IPhone headphones are wired differently from Android headphone with volume buttons.
Remapping your system won't do anything.

I see... thanks for your reply, anyway. So if they are wired differently, dou you know if there is some kind of adapter to make this work? The headphones are good enough as they are, but still...

Headset Volume Controls

After many tweaks my EVO is almost perfect, but I still can't seem to figure out how to control media volume from my headset. I've tried both the ipod headset and the klipsch s4i and neither can control volume from the controls, but play/pause/skip/back do work. Suggestions?
Help please someone.
Someone please help me with this issue.

Why not use a stereo bt headset? Or try the touch slide headset, works on the evo, but I dont remember if it had volume buttons, skip.play ,reverse did have and worked nicely.
Thanks for the response! I'd really rather not have to buy another headset for something as simple as this, and it seems a little ridiculous that HTC/Google would release a product with this limitation. Is there an appropriate app?
there is no support for volume control from wire headphones yet, im hoping that somebody can make a small software package that will decode the vol+/vol- signals and adjust it accordingly..
Im going to be buying ipod headphones myself
This is very sad and one of the little things holding Android back D= Thanks for the response!
I also have the Klipsch S4i headset. I love how it sounds for speech and music. The volume controls worked perfectly when I was trying out the T-Mobile HD7 Windows Phone 7 but I sent that phone back because of the crappy T-Mobile network in my area (San Francisco Peninsula). Now I'm back on my EVO and I have no volume controls. I'd be happy to kick down $10 to any dev who can set this up for me. I'm running the latest Fresh ROM.
I don't suppose anyone has some more advice on this? I picked up playerpro, and I'm now able to play, pause, and skip with my Klipsch S5i headphones, but I can not control the volume, which is a pain to say the least.
Headset Button Controller app gave a bit more functionality (single, double, triple click), but I couldn't get it working and it also didn't have volume support.
Thanks for the comments guys.
CyanogenMod 7 has these features. Single/middle button plays/pauses and next track. iirc, +/- does next/previous track (or might do volume, not entirely sure).
Oh, and 7.1 will be getting a crapton of customizations with the inline controls...

That last link looks like it addresses what I need it to. Do you know if these fixes have been implemented already? That looks more like a suggestion than an implementation.
Anybody have any other ideas? As far as I can tell, CM7 doesn't yet implement the volume and play button controls on newer headphones with in-line controls.

[Q] HELP HELP BOSE in-ear OE2i

Hi all,
I would expose you to a problem, I have some beautiful cufie BOSE in-ear OE2i I use with my ipod but I would use DHD also seen that the audio level has nothing to envy to Apple.
The problem is that cufie feel fine, the microphone and the pause / answer function keys do not work but rather to increase the volume.
I initially thought of a hardware conflict but I have found not to be so! MIUI work perfectly with Roma but as jumping track.
At this point I think you can remap these keys!
But how can I do?
I do not use MIUI, I do not like it and is too similar to the Iphone.
Does anyone know give me a hand??
Thanks in advance to all.
Sorry for my bad English
I have a similar kind of problem with Bose in-ear Mie2i model. It has a single long button which works for play/pause/previous/next. But this function seems to be limited with ipod.
But with DHD I can only use the button for play/pause, no volume control with volume buttons. When I double press the long button, it's going to redial, unable to skip a track.
I don't even find a variance with MIUI Rom.
Thanks for the thread.
Sent from my Desire HD
You can try using an application called Headset Droid to remap those keys to your liking. It's a paid app, but its worth it, has many features. Worth noting is that the author states he cannot map the volume keys from Apple headsets because of patents pending Therefore those volume keys won't work on android, but the rest can be set up as you wish.

How to enable volume up and down on my headphone controller

I have an S-Off and rooted HTC One and have recently got AKG K451 headphones. The middle button works for pause and next track etc but unfortunatly the volume up and down does not. Is there an app or anything I can use to force the up and down volume to work?
I have done a search but all the threads I have come across are no longer pliable.
tia for anyone that can help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560852 - you are welcome
I assume your K451 has 3.5mm connector on earcup, so that cable above will work well. As I mentioned in some of my previous posts, multifunction button is universal and works for play/pause/call, double click to skip and long-press for Google play, but volume controls are usually for iDevices only. There is no way to fix it with an app or rooting. Its a hardwired thing (internal resistors inside of the remote). This replacement cable above has a remote specific to Android phones, works great with my Note 2.
That's exactly what I need - many thanks

[Q] Headphones

Hi there,
Has anyone found a pair of good headphones with a mic that are compatible with advanced commands such as volume up/down, next track etc.? My pair of Sennheisers can start and stop, but none of the more advanced settings worked. I tried various apps to assign actions to one button headsets and had no luck at all. Actually, even the basic functions of start/stop are lost when those apps are active. To my knowledge the only headphones that have been reported to retain advanced button assignments are these ones: Samsung ehs64avfbe, but I am reluctant to buy a Fairphone one the one hand and a cheap pair of headphones on the other.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Headphones update
OK, I took the plunge and bought a pair of Senheiser MM 30G. My reasoning was that I had seen somewhere that a pair of cheapish Samsung headphones worked well with the fairphone, and that the MM 30G had been manufactured for Samsung phones. The headphones have a three button command, which are supposed to be volume up/down as well as a start/stop button, which will also answer and end calls.
Out of the box the buttons actually did: next song instead of volume up, and previous song instead of volume down. The middle button for start stop works fine. This is acceptable for me, as I can change the volume quite easily even without taking the phone or of my pocket (the volume rocker is quite tactile even through jeans).
Interestingly, when using different apps to assign button controls I could get the volume control to work via the remote on the headphones, but no long press options e.g. For next song were available. I am thus using them as they are with no extra apps, as being able to skip songs while cycling is important to me.
Hope this helps a bit.

Problem with 3 button headset (1more triple driver)

Hey,
I have just purchased the 1more triple driver in ear headset. Sadly the volume down control button does not work which is weird because the headset is said to work with android devices and the Xiaomi Piston (also designed from 1more) actually do work with my OP3.
Does anyone have or had similar problems with one button not working with a headset?
Best, Martin
Could this maybe be fixed with another ROM? Or is it a phone kind of Problem? Really strange, since volume up does work.
