Just wondering if anybody has a mod for the notifications both on lockscreen and pull down shade to turn notifications black. There was a zip for flashing via twrp on the op5. Maybe nobody has bothered because Oreo is incoming?

Yeah that's what I'm on the Oreo beta release. See...everything is black including the navigation bar. You'll need some extra tinkering to keep it black but it's do'able.

Hmm. I don't use my NavBar so that's not a problem. I can't figure out what option you used for the notifications. I wonder whether Ozone is conflicting? Can you confirm what overlay you're using? I've attached my overlays. Apologies for the crazy long screenshot.

Every time I theme any system item the phone won't boot any of the 4 below result in no boot with flux, in have to flash the substratum legacy. Zip to recover

It shouldnt I dont think but make sure when you select the theme in substratum that you are picking the correct version for the ROM you're on ie...OOS Oreo. Also restart System UI or reboot once youve finished installing that fixed the issues I was having after theming the UI

PSA: Flux works great for dark notifications on OOS Oreo

Couldn't get it working on Nougat because requires OMS not Legacy support. Oreo allows it since natively supports OMS. I'm using exclusively SwiftBlack. It's all set as I listed in the photos below. Optionally, Pitch Black's "android system" and then SwiftBlack for the rest and I was able to get it black as well. I had to use that on my wife's OP3 was a little bit more of a pain to get it to go all black. IIRC the OP5T I just used SwiftBlack only.

This worked for me
Swift Black on Oreo beta works fine for me. Didn't do anything special, just enabled everything and then scrolled down through the list and set the appropriate options. Have to make sure it's set to Oreo OOS and there's another one about half way down where you have to select what system accent you're using.
When enabled, the notifications all go a horrid orange colour, but a reboot fixes that.

How would you like to be first to try out this new theming app? How would you like to see a little color instead of stock white notifications?
I am looking for Nexus device owners to test Material Notifications. I have a Nexus 7 (2013) and I find that it runs perfectly on it, but before sharing it with the wider community, I would like to make sure it runs well on other Nexuses.
If your device is not a Nexus, or if you are using a custom rom, this probably won't work. If it does work, I would be glad to know.
Whatever device you own, make sure you have a nandroid backup before using this app. If you get stuck in a bootloop or if your systemUI force closes, you can easily sort the problem by going into TWRP, mounting your system, opening the file explorer and deleting color.apk from system/vendor/overlay. Or you can use your nandroid.
Please note that I am not responsible if you brick your phone. Only test this app if you know what you are doing.
Thank you in advance for testing. I hope you will think it was worth your while! I'm looking forward to your feedback. Cheers!

Thanks a lot for this! My understanding is that it won't work with CM, but let me know. I think only AOSP based custom roms have a chance. And stock, of course.
It installs, root granted, configured, I chose a color and then reboot OK but color is not taken into account after reboot. Will you need logs? If yes, which moment exactly?

Thanks but no, logs are not needed in this particular case. I need to study how CM functions and work out a solution from that!

Looks like Google has implemented the fix, so hopefully we see it roll out with December updates.
Or a Dev will implement it in their ROM if TWRP drops before then.

I attmpted to sideload the update again, and adb keeps sending me crazy errors like:

only one usage of eachsocket address <protocol/network/address port>is normally permtted. <10048)
could not read ok from adb server f

and then it eventually says error protool fault <coudn't fread status>: no error
Any idea how to fix this

I am using Swift Black on a Google Pixel. Love the theme, but every time the theme updates (I notice Substratum upgrading the theme's resources every now and then), it breaks certain apps (usually Google Photos, it will open up, but after browsing for a few seconds, it just crashes). The issue is always fixed by uninstalling the theme for all apps in Substratum, rebooting, reinstalling the theme for all apps, then rebooting again.
Do you have these issues as well? I'm thinking there must be a better way to fix the issue, since rebooting twice is kind of annoying.
Have this issue once in a while with different apps after it updates. Best thing to do is uninstall theme overlay, delete it, and uninstall substratum. Restart phone then reinstall both. Restart again.
Seems to fix it for me every time.
I've tried clearing theme cache, rebuilding theme, updating inside substratum, but none of those really work well.
NOT giving anyone a hard time, but the description in the play store talks about having to do this from time to time after an update. Saw it either in the theme or tha app, not sure.
So it seems ro be expected, yea annoying, but expected.
So far I've noticed the following. Note this list doesn't include obvious things like "the recent menu now has a clear all". Also I have put this here because I suspect some of the topics will be "where did x go"? Moderators, feel free to move this to the discussion forum if you want.
1. Unfortunately Google has severely toned down or else removed many of the navigation-related animations that were present in DP2. I loved them...
2. The color mode preview image in settings is now a hummingbird instead of simply a drab background.
3. The AOD now has the At A Glance weather image tacked onto the date portion. This includes color, as my display currently has a yellow sun mark.
4. Using gesture navigation, it is now much easier to actually call up the recent list: it kind of pops in place now, aided by haptic feedback that some on Reddit are already complaining about.
5. The "separation icon" that replaced the mini arrow above the homescreen's docked apps is now gone entirely.
6. Haptic feedback overall feels much stronger than before.
7. Some language-translation things have been fixed, yet new ones have appeared. For reference I have my phone set to Japanese and the "Support" tab in Settings is now listed in English whereas before the title was in Japanese, and the gesture navigation setting is now titled in Japanese whereas before it was in English.
8. The OS version is now listed as 9, instead of P.
9. The Sharing menu setting now includes a tab of "previously paired" devices.
10. The home screen now requires manual setting to allow rotation when auto-rotate isn't enabled.
11. The native scaling seems to have been adjusted (or broken) as the navigation bar-based clock seems to either be smaller than before, or else glitch between large and smaller.
Anyone know how to get rid of this? The squashed notification when the quick settings is fully expanded?

Since most of the users did, it dissapeared. For me it was there for the whole Beta 1 stage, earlier I didn't pay attention to it.

New "Version": Please Read
9.0.12 and later won't work. Use the above version.
I got inspired by this mod and decided to make my own version of it.
I've expanded on the idea and made it so you can use any image you want. Currently, it requires that you replace your current OPSystemUI. I'm working on a resource overlay method so that System UI doesn't need to be replaced/modded, but that process is pretty involved.
This mod is currently based on OOS 9.0.10 International. IT WILL NOT WORK ON 9.0.7 AND BELOW!!!!!!!
I haven't tested on TMO firmware.
Features:
Use any image you want (large ones may need to be manually resized)
Tint the chosen image any color
Separate image and tint settings for the "normal" and "disabled" icons
Disable the fingerprint read animation
Installation:
Download the OPSystemUI.apk and OPFPControl.apk files
Reboot to TWRP
Go to Mount and check "system"
Push OPSystemUI.apk to /system/system/priv-app/OPSystemUI/ and make sure its permissions are set to 644
Reboot to system
Install OPFPControl.apk like a normal app
Open OPFPControl and customize!
Screenshots:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/DfgkauCmVETNLdyz5
(The ghosting of the old icon is fixed in the released version)

Can you make a new theme? I mean if we apply only system via the themes app FOD icon changes along with the notification shade, quick toggles etc.

Well,Buddy...
The Theme Only Consist The Status Bar,Some Dialer And Contact UI Customizations...Else Everything Will Be As Like Your Stock MIUI Look...Just The Main Focus Was The Fingerprint Animation...
For Now It Is Already Changing FOD Icon, FOD Animation With The Notification Shade, Quick Toggles.
