Looks like Google has implemented the fix, so hopefully we see it roll out with December updates.
Or a Dev will implement it in their ROM if TWRP drops before then.

Substratum works just fine on a rooted Pixel XL. You must have a 7.1.1 compatible theme and you should pick v7_1_Google_Pixel as your android version when applying the theme.

Cool. I'll try that. Are you using one of those theme ?
I have it installed and running the swift black theme. I have all apps themed except android system and system UI . I read somewhere that theming system would cause a boot loop.

so... I attempted to use a layer to adjust navbar height... now i'm stuck at the bouncing balls.
I attmpted to sideload the update again, and adb keeps sending me crazy errors like:

only one usage of eachsocket address <protocol/network/address port>is normally permtted. <10048)
could not read ok from adb server f

and then it eventually says error protool fault <coudn't fread status>: no error
Any idea how to fix this

I am using Substratum (Swift Dark) and it's working very well. It will force close in System UI Tuner and at battery details (after touching the graph to expand) but I believe a fix from the very active Dev is coming.
He is a great guy, chatted with him on Hangouts. Quick to respond and assist with issues.

I am using Swift Black on a Google Pixel. Love the theme, but every time the theme updates (I notice Substratum upgrading the theme's resources every now and then), it breaks certain apps (usually Google Photos, it will open up, but after browsing for a few seconds, it just crashes). The issue is always fixed by uninstalling the theme for all apps in Substratum, rebooting, reinstalling the theme for all apps, then rebooting again.
Do you have these issues as well? I'm thinking there must be a better way to fix the issue, since rebooting twice is kind of annoying.
Have this issue once in a while with different apps after it updates. Best thing to do is uninstall theme overlay, delete it, and uninstall substratum. Restart phone then reinstall both. Restart again.
Seems to fix it for me every time.
I've tried clearing theme cache, rebuilding theme, updating inside substratum, but none of those really work well.
NOT giving anyone a hard time, but the description in the play store talks about having to do this from time to time after an update. Saw it either in the theme or tha app, not sure.
So it seems ro be expected, yea annoying, but expected.

Hey, guys! Firefox Beta is currently my browser of choice, but due to the DPI settings of our beloved Nexus 7, the app uses the Phone UI. Just look at it!

}
Now, let's take a look at it's layout when it sees a proper tablet DPI.
Fabulous! Now let's figure out how we can achieve this...
First of all, we need to install a framework called Xposed. This handy app can modify your ROM without touching an APK or having to flash anything. If your interested, read more about it in its OP. Speaking of the OP, you'll be downloading the APK at the bottom under attachments
You'll find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Open the app and touch the 'Install/Update' button. It should install successfully and request that you reboot your device. Do so now.
Now, we need to grab the app that will allow us to change the DPI settings per app. The app will also allow you to deny permissions to apps, but that's not why we are here.
You'll find the app in the attachment section of the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2072081
Install it and then open the previously installed Xposed Installer. Switch over to the Modules tab and checkmark the Xposed App Settings. Reboot.
Almost done!
After you've rebooted, open up the Xposed App Settings app. Scroll down to the app you would like to modify. In this case, we'll be changing Firefox Beta to tablet mode. Select Firefox Beta when you find it and enable it. Once enabled, you'll be greeted with the following screen:
Yours won't look exactly like that, but you'll need to make yours look like that also. Your DPI can be anything between 160 and 177. Once you've applied those, touch the wrench icon on the top right and force stop the app. go back to the app and touch the icon to the left of the |> icon. It'll ask you if you want to kill the application, do it again for good measure.
Success! Touch the |> icon to start the app and it should be laid out in all its tablet glory!
Bonus: You can also get the tablet, dual pane version of the Settings app by setting the resolution to 1000x1600 in Xposed App Settings.
In closing, take a look at some before and after pictures for some apps that don't have tablet lay outs by default.

Hey Guys! It's me again with another creation.... well sort of! This is Hydra Remix! Why Remix you ask??? Well for over a year I have been constantly tinkering with my CM Theme "Blue Hydra" which is probably one of the craziest themes out there. I was thinking that I should port it over to our LG UI but after consideration I thought perhaps I'd tone it down drastically and try to make it clean and somewhat minimal. Anyone who knows me or follows me on Google plus should know that this is the complete opposite of anything I've done. I'm usually an in your face type of designer with eye pleasing animations and other fun stuff. So this was a challenge in a sense! Anyway so basically what this is, is an overlay theme. Meaning it utilizes the Runtime Resource Overlay system which LG devices support out of box ....ish
So to those not familiar with Overlay themes (aka RRO aka layers) you will need root to use this for now. For those who may not know, Sony implemented this into AOSP a while back but it's actually turned off by default. So what we are going to do is use an app to apply the theme developed by good old Syko called Layers Manager and you will need to install it! This is how we apply the theme. Please read the app description if you are not familiar with it. Please note I am not your tech support for this app either. There is a wonderful and helpful google plus community for that. Once you install the theme (which installs like an apk!) it will show up in the Layers Manager app. The rest is self explanatory.
For now you only have a few overlays included in the theme. I may add a few more and release here, but if I do, it will not be any third party applications. I will however ensure this is bug free. So if you find something that has readability issues ie: white text on white background (wow) or black text on black background (bob) let me know and I will correct it as soon as possible.
There will be a "Prime" version on Play store which will also include the light version, and also a dark version which will be included in the same apk so you can mix and match overlays or choose from light or dark mode. Google apps like play store, hangouts, google plus, etc will be done for sure so look for it shortly on play.
Ok so one last thing. Sadly LG has done something unique with their framework-res and LGE-Res.apk. These two apks are not supported by the Overlays. This is due to issues with the idmap files and possibly the resources arsc and possibly the apktool.yml file within each apk. (I could be wrong on the reasons). So as much as I wanted to avoid this next part I had to make those into a flashable zip which you will need to flash to truly enjoy the theme. I suppose it's not 100% mandatory but if you don't some elements will not look proper.
This next part is important. My flashable framework-res.apk and lge-res.apk are from my stock rom. They are not deodexed and have zero mods done to them so it should be safe to flash if you're on another rom but that's up to you. I haven't tried any rom out here and I probably never will. But from reading the changelogs it doesn't appear as though any of them have really done anything to their framework-res or lge-res that would cause you issues. Feel free to ask them but I'm sure it's fine to flash this. (Make a backup to be safe!). To uninstall the theme simply use the Layers Manager app to uninstall. If you flashed the Frameworks package you will need to reflash your rom to completely revert all changes made.
So again to be clear, flash the zip, install layers manager and then install the theme apk and apply from the Layers Manager app!
Also please do not complain about conflicts if you are using xposed. I do not support it nor will I offer solutions to people who use it.

Well that's not a huge surprise given its a different device. If you want you can send me your framework-res and lge-res and I'll make a g3 flashable.
And if anyone has or knows someone with a g4 and can get them to send me those files too I'll do the same for them. The theme is much better with the fw zip.
Great job on the theme. something different that looks great. I noticed that the notification hangs down a bit more when I have sound control disabled, as if it never was disabled. It leaves a bigger block than intended. If its possible to fix it and if you need my help with what ever i can than i would gladly comply.

In all of my experiences in using layers themes on lg g4 and v10, it removes the calendar page from smart bulletin. It does here as well. Also this seems to cause conflicts with G4 twbx, at least it did for me.. Thanks though, I appreciate the contribution.

I'm not sure which build it started in (I think it was there in DP2) but in DP3 and now also DP4 with my P2XL I don't have the option available to me in Gboard settings to synch learned words. I have the same version of Gboard installed on my OP3T running OOS 5.0.3 and the option is there. Is this consistent with other users or do I have a problem with my device? I don't know if it's psychosomatic or not but it seems like the suggestions surfaced by Gboard are of less value on my P2XL than they are on my OP3T and I'd like to attribute this to the fact that I can't synch learned words. TIA everyone.

Damn, inconsistent bugs like this are the worst. So hard to isolate and fix.
What does it look like for you? Blank? Greyed out?

It's just not there. I have the settings page for the Dictionary but the part about syncing with my gmail account is completely missing.
So yesterday I opted out of the Android P beta program, installed the rollback OTA via the automated tool and set up my phone from scratch. The option to sync my Gboard dictionary with my Gmail account is still just not there. Maybe I should call Google support now that my phone is running Oreo again.
Just upgraded to Pie and issue is still prevalent. I'm on Gboard beta and I tried uninstalling and trying different apks to no avail. This is very frustrating as typing sucks as all my synced shortcuts are not there
Has anyone reported that to Google? I have seen this on a few AOSP Roms that this Option is completely missing. Most people wont even notice but it just sucks to not have the words you saved before.

I tried while still in the beta program and support wouldn't talk to me. I've gotten the official OTA and have since done a factory reset and the problem is still here for me, now I can hit up Pixel support again now that I am not running a beta OS.

When I get the time I will try to update to P and report back. Maybe it's somehow Account related. They had that problem a few times with GPhotos I remember, that some things just wouldn't work for certain people.

Yeah it's still there or maybe I just have some crazy bad luck but it sucks why this is the case.

I think I agree, this may be an account issue. I just set up my old OPO with LineageOS 15.1 and I have the same problem there. I wonder what Google can even do about this? I hope I don't have to make a new account to get this functionality back.
I don't think so. The biggest problem will be to bring it to their attention to actively keep them looking into this matter.
As a sidenote, I just Dirty flashed Pie on top of Oreo and still have the Option. I hope the get this fixed for you guys :/
Looks like this version of Gboard brings this option back as per this thread .

This is indeed a lazy oversight on Googles Part. I remember the same thing happened with Google Photos. Remember the Option to have a floating Bubble on the Screen when you had taken a Photo with the GCamera? That was missing somehow after updating the App, going back to an older APK, activating the option and then update the App would make the option stick.
After official Pie was released, I still have the option just fine. [emoji53]

That's just Google in a nutshell. :laugh:
New "Version": Please Read
9.0.12 and later won't work. Use the above version.
I got inspired by this mod and decided to make my own version of it.
I've expanded on the idea and made it so you can use any image you want. Currently, it requires that you replace your current OPSystemUI. I'm working on a resource overlay method so that System UI doesn't need to be replaced/modded, but that process is pretty involved.
This mod is currently based on OOS 9.0.10 International. IT WILL NOT WORK ON 9.0.7 AND BELOW!!!!!!!
I haven't tested on TMO firmware.
Features:
Use any image you want (large ones may need to be manually resized)
Tint the chosen image any color
Separate image and tint settings for the "normal" and "disabled" icons
Disable the fingerprint read animation
Installation:
Download the OPSystemUI.apk and OPFPControl.apk files
Reboot to TWRP
Go to Mount and check "system"
Push OPSystemUI.apk to /system/system/priv-app/OPSystemUI/ and make sure its permissions are set to 644
Reboot to system
Install OPFPControl.apk like a normal app
Open OPFPControl and customize!
Screenshots:

(The ghosting of the old icon is fixed in the released version)

Thanks for bringing more to the table. Haven't tried it yet but looking forward to it.
Everything installed fine, but no matter what image I select all I get is grey patch. I kept the background and 100% transparent.

Did the icon update in the app? Large images can take a long time to apply.
I honestly haven't had any issues, this is exactly what I was waiting for, great job!

Thanks for this mod, makes it really easy to change the fingerprint icon. Any plans to make it change the green color or add custom animations?
Nice:laugh: waiting for Magisk Module

The fingerprint sensor needs to be green for the fingerprint sensor to work at it's fastest there is no good reason to change it
Replaced the OPSystemUI.apk with your file and set permisissons to rw-r-r. Installed OPFPControl.apk but OPFPControl app doesn't open. It shows grey screen for some time and then crashes everytime I try to open the app. Please help.
Currently on OOS 9.0.7 international.

Turn off Adaptive Battery and all that other battery optimization crap OnePlus added. It breaks Magisk Manager's root prompt.

Just for the fun of it is a pretty good reason for some people
The animation slider works, but changing colors does nothing here...

Is your mod compatible with McLaren version? Or would I need the McLaren opsystem modded?

Apparently the System UI is the same on both. I obviously haven't tested it though.

Thanks a lot. It worked. But after replacing the OPSystemUI.apk, the size of notch is increased. Now, my phone looks like OP6 with a bucket notch. Can you please help me find a solution for that. Btw I am still on 9.0.7. TIA.
