Confused can someone help. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, first off I'm not a newbee but I'm new to HTC and just acquired a Verizon HTC M8. I have been to the Verizon section but do not see any nogout roms, but then I came across this HTC section witch I do see nogout roms and now I'm confused. Is the nogout I see in this section of HTC, is it for all variants within one rom that can flash on all variants of the HTC M8 or is this something entirely different whereas you can only flash a certain ROM only made for that certain variant of the M8. If someone could help with this small confusion it would be appreciated. Everyone have a Happy New Years.

In the desired ROM thread, do a search for "Verizon", and you can pretty easily figure out if the ROM supports your device or not. I did this for LOS 14 and 15, and Verizon seems okay.
Verizon M8 uses a different kernel (at least in Sense) than other M8 versions. So you need to at least look for ROMs that other Verizon M8 owners have had success with.

I kinda figured out some stuff like lineageos pretty much put all the versions of m8 in into one universal type deal, but they are not my first choice. I'm just gonna go through roms and see which ones work and don't work. I'm gonna start with AOKP. Thanks for your reply.

What is the latest HardSPL and ROM in this forum? Thanks

I just bought a touch diamond (US 3G version), and would like to try some customized ROM released here.
One simple question, what is the latest or best HardSPL we can find now? I know there are a lot of threads about hardspl in the forum. But just too many. After 2 hours of reading, I still do not know which one is the newest one and the best one? Could you guys point me the direction and give me the link of that particular thread? Thanks a million.
Also, about the ROM, I am looking for a ROM with original HTC looking (basically black today screen and black touchflo 3D, though blue is probably fine with me), but faster, with all the tweaks applied. And if possible with latest OS builds. Any suggestions?
I did search and reading a lot. Just confused with so many different HardSPLs and ROMs. Hope someone more familiar with this forum can help me out. Thanks!
SPL's & ROM's...
Unfortunately, like so many things, ROM's are based on personal opinion, so there is no 'best' or 'worst', just one's you like and one's you don't.
Try here for your SPL - both GSM and CDMA versions covered. You must do this first or you'll end up bricking your device.
Next, just try the ROM's until you find one you like. The one I'm currently using is pretty much standard (as you would like), but with all the latest versions of applications / software and the latest drivers, etc. I think you'll like it! Try here.
Don't ask me how to tell if you have CDMA or GSM device because I've no idea how to tell the difference !
Have fun
AFAIK there is a sticky thread about HardSPL !
AFAIK in forum rulez the question whats the last / best rom are disallowed !
just read some threads please !
In the HardSPL thread the first and second post Oli explains everything Who should use what HARDSPL ... so dont think thats complicated.
Please UTFSE and flash some so you will know what u like best !!

Thanks a lot. I just flashed the HardSPL and the ROM you linked in your post. They works very well. Thanks!
One more question, I am working in a high building, and my desk is in the 3rd floor. I am getting very poor cell phone (GSM, T-mobile USA) here. I am wondering if anyone can suggest a better radio ROM for T-mobile USA? I really want a better signal reception. Thanks in advance!

HTC standard ROM on T-mo TP2 possible?

I just thought about this right now. Can the standard HTC ROM be flashed to the Tmobile TP2? Or would we have to wait for the HSPL? Im pretty sure you can flash other standard ROMs right? [like those in different languages]. So is it possible to flash an HTC ROM to the Tmo version at this point? Maybe this belongs in the ROM development section, sorry if it does, but i think its a general question.
Also, how do you check to see if you have CID unlocked your phone, [using the hardware keys]? i did a search of it, but couldnt find it again.
forgive me if im double posting, i did a search for these questions, but couldnt come up with a definitive answer. Or a clear one, for that matter. So i thought its better to ask yourself.
anyways, thanks for the time and the replies guys.
-josh.
No one? looks like 59 other people are interested.. haha. any answers?
No. I skimmed through your question quickly. I bet it's already been asked like 5 other times.
Right now, the HardSPL for our phone is being developed. Once that's done, we can flash other ROM's. Right now, we're stuck with the T-Mobile ROM. And there's no way to CID unlock yet, either. So, just wait for the HardSPL. That's all we can do. I got a PM going around, I guess they're looking for some native thing...Here's the message...
Don't forget to use the tool provided in this thread! The sooner we find somebody with a Hynix internal memory, the sooner we can have Hard-SPL on our Touch Pro 2's! If you've already done this, please ignore this message.
Do that if you wanna get the HardSPL going faster. I guess it's just like the lottery, whoever has the lucky device! That's how YOU can contribute to the community. Got it?
You can't because even if it's a stock rom, it's not customized for your device. Even if we ignore slight hardware differences, there's also the case of people with a European unlocked model being unable to install the Asian Rom because it's the "wrong" device.

You can, it would just have to be modified by the cook, making it a "custom ROM". That will be possible in, I'm guessing, a month, once HardSPL is working on our phones. It'll be way better with custom ROM's, but we gotta just wait.
Oh, I meant you can't right now. Not that it's impossible without the right tools and time enough. But to just download the rom and try to flash it without any extra steps or tricks isn't currently possible.

Or we can wait for HardSPL, lol. That'll be easier for most, and be less bothersome for the cooks.
But it's good to hear that you got a custom ROM! I hate that T-Mo crap
Yeah, T-mo ROM really sucks...
HTC ROM runs much smoother, consuming less RAM, and allowing me to use icq and skype, which is the biggest plus.
Now my TP2 really is (In my oppinion) the best phone on the market
True, can't wait to flash a chefs rom to get rid of all the bloatware!

Selling my Tilt2... should I re-flash original software?

Hello out there!
I am selling my Tilt2 and I am very much considering reinstalling the original ROM that came when I bought it.
I believe right now I have one of the energy ROMs (which has been great).
I couldn't find the original out of the box ROM link, anyone have one to flash?
Oh, since I'm selling it, is there software out there to wipe the memory or does a new flash or the original ROM do that already?
Thanks everyone!

It's always better to put the device back as close to stock as possible to allow the new owner to customize it however he or she pleases. It's kind of hard to recommend you to the proper stock ROM without knowing which device model you have and which service, if any, it belongs to. There are different ROMs for different carriers. The original HTC ROM for the RHOD100 European models are different from the T-Mobile RHOD210 ROMs and so on.
Anyway, the link for the GSM versions of the Rhodium ROMs is HERE. If you need a stock ROM for the CDMA version, go HERE.

[Q] Can I Custom ROMS Which is for Unlocked on T-Mobile Version?

I am gonna buy a T-Mobile HTC One M8 from a friend. I want to use custom ROMs which is for Unlocked version. Is it possible or not?
Actually I want to use ROMs at One (M8) Android Development section. What I have to do that? I always used unlocked Samsung phones and don't know anything about this.
If you help till tomorrow, it's gonna be awesome!

[Help] new to s4

Well lets get this off by saying im not a noob at rooting or flashing.
but with the differences between how the s3 acted and the s4 id like to ask for basic help which includes:
1.) Which roms work with the tmo version of the phone. (this includes the unified section) i know the d2tmo worked with the d2att amazingly is this still true?
2.) Kernels which is best for the tmo version (what works with tmo with little worries of breaking device
3.) any other help on the matter of flashing roms or other stuff what works with jfltetmo version. (sorry if the acronym is wrong please correct me)
4.) this post isnt just for me but for everyone who recently changed to this device. (remember most may be noobs. so go noob friendly when replying with answers thanks.)
reason for making this thread is simply for fast help. not to be thrown to the "wolfs" (.zip) and left to fend for our selfs. thanks again for reading and thanks for replying will love to see other "basic stuff to know" posted here.
I see the s4 community is of no help to anyone .
Sad. . . I could get more help from a dead fourm but not here
Probably the reason nobody answered is that we saw you have something like 400 posts, and more than 100 thanks, so by now you should know that most of your questions are easily answered by perusing the Tmo S4 General forum (for basic info on flashing ROMs and such, locations of recovery downloads etc.). "Which is the best" (ROM, Kernel etc.) discussions aren't appropriate, because we all know that situations differ and best for you may be different than best for me. It's best we avoid the religious wars that can start up.
As for which ROMs work, go to the Tmo S4 Android Development and Original Android Development forums. They all work, some better than others, with plenty of info in the threads devoted to each one. And, the "best kernel" will to some extent depend on the ROM you pick.
Nobody threw you to the wolves, but based on your post/thanks count you should have been able to better position your questions. Maybe show having done the minimum of research first (well, you did reference jfltetmo which is why I bothered to respond).
If you're interested, my M919 is updated to the OH3 firmware via the stock firmware (from Sammobile), plus TWRP 2.8.7.0 (got it from thread in the General forum) and the GPE 5.1 ROM posted by Danvdh (from the Android Development forum). Not sure if it's "the best" but it has been very stable for me for the last few weeks and I'm quite happy with it. It runs whatever kernel it came with.
Thanks for the reply. An no I'm not a pro I just find helping people better then being quite.
With the new phone I have no clue as I have came from s3 and before that was the sidekick 4g so I know the big differences and I know to be careful. The sidekick 4g I have bricked a few times with a experimental update to 2.3(sad that the development is dead now)
And also the s3 worked with atnt almost 90% of the time. Which is why I must ask for help here. As no other thread seems to recognize which ROMs (variants) worked with the phone and it seems like there is no kernel for the phone 5.1.1
I see some post about i9505 working for m919 is this true..? Prefer not to lose anything right now
There has been no official T-Mo release of Lollipop (either 5.0 or 5.1x) for it. There is a thread about using the i9505 firmware in the M919 but I haven't tried it.
Most people just flash one of the more popular Dev-created ROMs such as the Google Play Edition (GPE) 5.1 ROM that Danvdh posted... there's probably half a dozen or more very popular ones that work well and include a working kernel as part of the ROM that gets flashed. Plus lots more less popular ones.
I'm with AT&T also... the GPE ROM came with an ATT APN that automagically got selected the first time I booted the phone after flashing, and I had no problem using ATT using this phone/ROM/firmware [OH3] version.
Best of luck to you. I'll be departing the S4 sub-forums pretty soon. Just a little while ago I killed my S4 phone. it slipped from my hand, hit the floor hard on the corner, and cracked the screen. It still works but I'm going to buy something a year newer. Sigh.
Marc
Thanks for the reply it just seems like s4 tmo is dead.
Also I ask about a separate kernel because its been one of the things I don't trust just the ROM itself to do as right now the ROM dies faster then the charge is (just typing this.)
