I have found a weird bug or is it just me? Then pls help me fix this issue:
Turn adaptive sensor off
Adjust the brightness to 80-100%
Shut off the screen then wake it up
The brightness level doesn't come back -- it's damn dim :/
Any suggestions?
Update: it was the kernel: elemental.backlight dimmer was overriding the system settings. Sorry, this thread to be closed.

I've noticed with my GNEX that it seems like all of the sudden it won't auto dim. When I unlock the device it will brighten if needed, however if I walk into a dimmer area it will not auto dim. Is this the normal behavior for the light sensor?
I'm used to my Xperia Play which would constantly adjust the screen up and down.
My auto-brightness setting sets the screen brightness lower than the lowest actual brightness setting regardless of whether I'm in light or dark.
There's a fix for it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377410&highlight=auto+screen+brightness
I haven't tested that out though.

Yea I was worried maybe the brightness sensor was not working since. Turns out my wife's droid 2 with CM7 acts the same way. Lowest setting until you unlock at which time it only increases the brightness, never decreasing.
I've had a problem with the t989D since I got it. Here's what I want:
**Auto brightness turned OFF and the brightness remain at minimum setting.**
However, with all the roms I've tried (Stock, Juggernaut 4.1- 5.0, Tuesday) I always have the auto brightness OFF and the screen always brightens up to about 75% whenever I turn the screen back on.
Note: the settings still show as if the brightness is set to 0%, but the actual brightness coming from the screen is the same as if I turn the bar up to 75%. When I start to move the adjustment bar a slight amount for the brightness, the actual screen light drops right away. It only stays on 0% as long as I'm using it, but then is really bright again when I lock, then unlock the screen.
Is anyone else noticing this? Beyond that, is it possible to prevent the screen from adjusting it's brightness while the auto brightness nis off?
Thanks for any assistance!!
I leave my phone set for Adaptive Brightness.
First, it's annoying that setting the manual brightness to max and then turning on Adaptive Brightness means that I can't achieve super dim display in dark.
Anyhow, so I leave my phone set to Adaptive Brightness all the time.
And it usually adjusts my display bright or dim(ish) as needed.
Then randomly it'll just go to the absolute dimmest setting and stay there even after a reboot.
I have to toggle Adaptive Brightness off and back on again.
Anyone else seeing this behavior?
I think it's time to give Lux Brightness app another shot.
Hopefully they've worked out the bugs since the last time I used it.

I've not had any issues with mine, do you have a tempered glass screen protector that covers the sensor on the front of the phone? It may be detracting light confusing the sensor.
Nope, no covers. Nekid phone here.
Hi, is there a way to tune the default adaptive brightness level? i find it abit bright at time. It will be good if there is a way to lower down certain % from the default brightness level.
I also facing brightness level auto ramp up randomly when unlocking the phone even when adaptive brightness was off... any help would be appreciated! :fingers-crossed:

As far as I know, some third-party kernels have this function built-in. Such as ElementalX kernel and Franco kernel. But another popular kerbel blu_spark does not support it.
Hi,
is there a way to change the brightness on the fingerprint sensor. I believe even if you put your brightness to lowest the fingerprint's brightness remains the same when idling.
I'm scared because it might cause uneven display or burn-in issue/s.
Thanks
Are you using Always On Display? If not, then there's nothing to worry.
