Hi guys, first i would thank you for the real reviews of this phone i would consider it a masterpiece, especially after we unlock it is true power from the developer option
I have some question :
1. I have the phone now for nearly 3 months, it is really good phone with a decent battery life, but the last couple days were something weird happening, i have noticed that there is some increasing the power consumption, and the consumption from the Kernal ( Android OS ) and it is activated by Google service, anybody else noticed that in the last week exactly ?
2. I have bought USB 3.1 to Type C cables from Aukey, everything went good but when i connect the fast file transferring, my PC won't recognize my phone and it did not worked, how to solve this issue ?
3. The camera on this phone give a solid performance but i have noticed some blurry shoots how to fix this, especially with the front camera ?
4. I have a strong signal WIFI all over my home, i have made sure that i cover all my home with the WIFI even the garden, but sometimes i got low signal WIFI only using my HTC 10, where is the signal receiver antenna and is there something wrong ?
5. Just a question about the updates, i still got Software Number : 2.41.401.41 with July 1,2017 security patch, is it too old or not ?
6. The HTC Sync Manager won't recognize my phone after the last update on PC what is wrong ?
Well after all if i will change the phone i would go with HTC U11 or U11+ i will not change HTC

1. No idea, but I personally find the 10 has poor battery life. Best I can say is uninstall apps or factory reset
2. Windows 10 doesn't recognise my phone either, enabling USB debugging fixes it
3. Maybe there are fingerprints or smudges on the camera?
4. Known problem, WiFi has always been bad on this phone

Hello,
1. I've got the same issue, tried installing different ROMs, used different battery saving apps like Greenify, Amplify, etc.. Not much difference. I suggest disabling your location, Bluetooth, sync(you can turn it on when you need to sync). It helps a bit.
2.Try to plug it into USB 2.0 ports because sometimes Windows doesn't detect all devices from USB 3 ports, and usually it's better to use the original provided cable that came with the phone.
3.Try updating the camera app or playing around with settings like HDR. Can't be sure if this is a software or hardware issue.
4.Because HTC 10 has a metal body, radio waves have some trouble being received or sent. I have this issue too sometimes when I'm in the same room the signal is 3/4.
5.No that's the latest.
6.Could be that your drivers are not set up properly, or you didn't connect the phone through a USB 2.0 port so that's why it's not being detected.

I think the battery drain issue is a Nougat/Google Services Framework(Yeah, Google's spying on us) issue. I've seen many people complain about abnormal battery drain in many threads but not many solutions were found I suggest reading up on different posts around the guide and questions forums. You might find a solution there.
I'm hoping that Oreo is going to change this, but for the time being, we just have to try everything and hope it works.
As for HTC Sync Manager, try searching on Google and you might find a solution. I honestly don't use the sync manager anymore, and I didn't have any issues using it in the past when I got the phone.
Best of luck

it sounds weird i know, but if you checked your " Boost+" application for the background activities you will find that Facebook uses too much resources, and keep the phone wake even if the screen turned off

The heat issue could be that the battery is faulty. Other problems were sporadic, but documented fixed in the 6.5 official upgrades. Which carrier do you have, and is the phone branded from that carrier? If not, what carrier brand is the device?
thanks for the quick reply
well i'm using the phone with a vodafone egypt sim, but the box of the phone has TIM on it which is an italian carrier, i downloaded the 6.1 shipped rom for GCC & Egypt, i'm still looking for the 6.5 rom

That's too vague to really answer. All computer CPUs generate heat when in use. The TP2 gets warm under heavy use, such as web browsing, GPS navigation, games. Any reason to believe the heat is excessive? If the phone is getting too hot to hold, then its likely a battery issue as cajun suggested above.

This is normal behavior. The switch to turn off the data connection is mostly useless, it just turns it off until the next time an app turns it on again. If you want you data connection to remain off until you turn it back on, try Modaco NoData or similar mod.

Haha. You have to stare really really hard at the front camera. I kid
What's your screen off time? If you set it to the lowest for the screen to turn off after 15 sec, it might not work since the free version of the app detects your face every 20sec by default.
Get the paid version and you can set face detect time and scan time
it works quite well I must say

As @samuelong87 mention buy Premium version so that you can customize the time. It works perfectly at my side.
Smart Stay would be a nice feature to have but I would like to think that the app would somehow drain lots of battery.. abusing the front camera every half a minute or so would somehow have an impact I'm sure.
I wonder if the S3 would have enhanced battery life if they disabled the Smart Stay option.

this is not interfering in any way to the auto brightness settings in in display as far as i can see.

ISeeYou Causing Issues On My HOX
I have the HOX International. I used this app, and though it's a great concept, I was left largely dissatisfied by it.
While it works as advertised, I'm peeved with a couple of issues:
1) It blocks BOTH the front and back cameras. Try accessing the camera app while the service is ON and you only get a black screen.
2) It seems to hog battery occasionally (although this happens rarely).
3) I had the service to autostart, and received the shock of my life when around 1 hour into my day, I found that the rear camera was heating up. This might be a direct consequence of point 1 above.
I am on Stock and have the latest firmware update.
I don't know if any of you are facing these issues, but I've uninstalled the app ever since I started facing it.
Just a friendly heads up!

The camera works well here! But, when I launched it from lock screen, it was blank. After unlocking properly with the secure path I use, both front and back cameras worked! (Newest wwe firmware.)
BUT: it DOES brake Face Unlock! I already sent a bug report e-mail to the dev
Used to work ok,then stoped without reason and I got blank screen with stock and other camera app(FV 5 and ics+).Unistalled it,but still had to reboot phone to get camera working properly.Installed it again,it works now, stock camera is working as well as FV5,with ics + , it gets FC sometimes...very nice idea, needs some polishing.

And also battery brain is normal from the moment front camera open for checking every 20". But no something special.
Anyway I think we dont need so match this future. At smartphones screen is so small, so when you read anything you need to scroll down. It's meaning if you touch the screen will continue to stay wakeup. I would like to have something like that in my iPad.

Hi guys
I've been getting fairly decent battery life, however am now connecting my phone to the car daily via bluetooth.
I've noticed some battery drain and after checking the built in battery stats and also better battery stats app, my Bluetooth is not turning off when I'm selecting it.
IE, connected on the drive to work, get to work, disconnected then turned off, but showing as constantly on.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Any updates or anyone else having the same problem?
I also noticed it just a minute ago. gsam monitor tells that bt was on for 6hrs+ which is the exact same time with phone radio.
Earlier this week connected to my boss' car radio for bt aux, this is the first and last time I used bt. Switched it on&off from settings, nothing changed.

Might be useful to give the serial no's since it is useful information about the production site and date.

Same issue here, and same Android version. GSam always reports the same Bluetooth on time as the time unplugged, ie. it's saying that BT has been on all the time, while it's clearly off. I've tried different ways to switch off BT (using widget, using settings, going into Airplane mode and back) but to no avail.
Part of me is suspecting that GSam might be reading the wrong value and falsely reporting it as Bluetooth. But perhaps someone with a different battery monitoring app could check on this and confirm?
It is a bug, to solve it you will need to restart your phone.
This is the only way I find to solve this on stock 2.17/Android 4.0.4.
This bug is caused by turning your Bluetooth on and off.
I faced the same problem? But does that use battery? Actually.the Bluetooth is off.

Hmm, user fault then hheheheueh
the strange thing is, it does not consume battery at all. ok it's not connected to any device but I would think it would consume more than just %1.
may be non-discoverable makes it use less. not broadcasting anything.

I'm now having a chat with HTC live support about JB update and also asked the question about BT off issue.
He said, please follow the following steps.. Waiting for what he'll say..
So he suggested booting in safe mode, going to applications? >> manage, uncheck.. ? I'm not familiar with safe mode so I cannot surely say what he is talking about.
Has anyone tried this? Did it work?
So he sad that this will solve if an application is triggering the problem, but I haven't used any applications that use BT.
So, the next suggestion is factory reset, bullsh*t. sorry guys =)
useless post may be, but confirms that HTC official support has no fixing for this.

Hahaha, that's funny and more towards Apple ideology.
Bluetooth was designed to be efficient. But, if its running then it consuming energy ,and that's something I don't like.
I already checked logcat/kmsg ,but nothing about this Bluetooth issue.
I didn't see anyone on JB came to complain about this, let's see what the offical JB has to offer.

Safe mode is a mode in Android, that will will disable all the 3rd party installed apps. Similar to safe mode in Windows. After your turned on your phone, just press on the volume key and it will get you there.
Beside that, I never trust customer support, and I never had a good experience with any of them.
The only good thing is about companies offering customer support, is they add job opportunities into the economy.
This problem just crept up on me. I noticed the battery was lower than normal, I checked BBS and it seems like BT never turned off. A reset would solve the problem until I turn BT back on again.
Does anyone know if this has been fixed with 4.1?

It seems so, at least on my One X G Sam is now reporting the correct BT on-time, whereas pre-JB it was continually on, clock ticking even after turning it off.

Hi,
I bought Tab S 8.4 recently (3 weeks ago).
I face two issues and I appreciate your help..
1- Toucwiz: it happens frequently after I restart my tablet to find the error message (Unfortunately, Touchwiz stopped working). When I press OK, the screen blanks and starts working fine. I tried resetting the tablet to factory settings, clearing cache, clearing Touchwiz application setting.
The problem goes for some time and comes back. it doesn't really impact the tablet function but it is a kind of irritating.
2- Battery drains: I used to have ipad mini, the battery life was about 5 to 6 days.
For the Tab S, it is maximum three days. taking into consideration that I am using the tablet for emails, browsing, and rarely lite games.
Please, let me know if you face these problems and if you know the fix.
Thanks,

1. Re-flash your device firmware with Odin. Many guides about on its use. Check sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com
2. The browsing time has been shown to be less than SOME other tablets but media play exceeding most others (including mini) of the same form factor. Don't know what users expect for such a thin device device with a very high resolution. There are far more pixels to push
There is also power saving mode and ultra power saving mode. You could also use auto brightness with lower setting.
As your coming from an Apple device here are some info on best battery saving practices for Android :
7 Quick Tips To Extend Battery Life on Android 4.4 Kitkat
http://www.idroidspace.com/best-tips-to-extend-battery-life-on-android-4-4-kitkat-devices/
Specifically for Tab S:
- (I don't use this one as to me it reduces the value of my tablet) : "Select adaptive display off and use basic color better battery life but sacrifice some color". This suggestion came at the beginning of August before at least one update which may have negated it's value.
- Settings:
- Increase the time between services being synced (GMail, Calender... Etc)
- Turn off syncing for any service you don't use
- Turn off Bluetooth if your not using it
- Turn off WiFi scanning once you have added your WiFi access point(s)
- uncheck WiFi remaining alive when tablet is asleep (sorry forgot the specific setting name)
- Anything you can tolerate that reduces screen brightness.
- Turn off auto brightness and control it manually
- Reduce the auto brightness value assuming you still want auto brightness
If that is still not enough then you can install a battery app which tracks "wakelocks" (apps that keep your app awake even when it is not being used). After analyzing that info you can uninstall the worst offenders. Sometimes the worst ones are part of the system or an essential app so you must put up with the drain. See this XDA post for a good battery analysing app which is free for XDA members.

Likely the 1st link to the 7 tips article will give your the best bang for the buck.
Good luck

The weird thing is that the Touchwiz error appears only at the restart. Then the tablet continues working fine.
it is less probable to happen when I restart the tablet after it is shut down, and more probable to happen when I restart it by command.
It is not stopping me from using the tablet, but it is some how irritating.

Not a silly question.
A lot will be cleared up if you go ahead. You're data should be OK, but always recommend to save it off device.

Problem appeared again... looks like it is related to some application.
I tried the safe mode and it works fine every time I restart the tablet in safe mode.
I downloaded Nova advanced launcher and it works fine so far...

I found the trigger ... Or I think I did
I cleared the Touchwiz data and cache .. so it went to the default configuration. I then started adding my widgets and shortcuts one by one.
I figured out that the Touchwiz fault happens when I add a short cut of an application installed on the microSD card.
I moved all the applications from the microSD to the internal memory and now Touchwiz works fine.
Now going to the microSD. The microSD I have is Transcend cat 10. It should be quite fast, and it is actually fast (R/W). However, I recall some posts regarding Transcend in-compatibility with new Samsung devices.
I have Galaxy S5 as well... same Transcend type and works fine.... BUT ... There is a Samsung application called User's digest for Samsung (or you can find it in the name of Vitamin's for Samsung).. It has a feature to place some tests to the handset. Both Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab S show the microSD card test result as "Disconnected"! ... I didn't care that much on the S5 as it didn't cause any problem, but now I started to care after what happened with the Tab S.
I ordered Samsung 32GB cat 10 microSD... should arrive in a week... will let you know about my experience.
It's confirmed now the touchwiz problem while starting the tablet is triggered by microsd.
The transcend I was using was fake. I am using an original one now and I can sense the enhancement in the read speed, as well as no touchwiz problem anymore.
Thanks,
How do I reboot in safe mode in galaxy tab s t705?
Thanks

After the upgrade the phone cannot connect anymore with the Bluetooth of my Ford C-Max (2011, it cannot be updated and I cannot update the car yet).
Is it happening to anyone else?

Well I have worse battery live on Android 10.
Something keeps phone awake and drain battery.
I have about 1 or 2 hours less SOT.
Looking for solution. ?
I ended up upgrading, at first, my phone was lagging when scrolling in any app, and the battery was somehow draining a bit faster but I managed to fix it.
Try this if you have a related problem.
-Go into developer settings
-Scroll almost to the button
-Disable MIUI optimization
-Reboot
-Enable MIUI optimization
-Reboot
Also, the permission of most of my apps got lost, like access to the microphone, storage, phone... so I had to re-enable them manually because they were "blocked".
For those experiencing problems, it's probably worth doing a full wipe. I tend to find its needed after as version update of Android.
I did a wipe and haven't encountered problems as of yet. Bluetooth, apps and battery all fine for me.

Did a full wipe after the android 10 update and for now batterylife shortened for me. Hopefully after a few charges it will be better again.

I didn't get much feedback so I suppose it isn't a very popular issue. However, I've a solution to share for the annoying problem.
After doing a full wipe of the phone the issue was still present and I was still facing connection problems.
So I enabled the developers options menu and started to play with Bluetooth hidden settings.
At first I downgraded the AVRCP version from the default 1.4 version to 1.3 but it was not working, so I tried 1.5 (same issue) and 1.6. This version was slightly better... The car was authenticating and showing the Bluetooth audio codec in a small icon beneath the device name (Ford Audio -> SBC) but the connection was not stable and dropping. So I changed the default audio codec and I set SBC.
Everything started to work well and I was able to make several hands free call without issues anymore.
I hope it helps whoever could have similar issues.

Today I discovered that settings changed in the developer menu are not persistent and don't survive to a phone reboot. So every time I get in the car I've to repeat settings.
This is quite annoying, any solutions other than waiting for another software update?
Another alternative would be changing the car, but it's more expensive than buying another mobile phone.

Think you are right on the battery. Mine has settled down and not as good as before
I think after few cycles of charging it will be better...

Changing profiles in the developer menu is not helping... I was able to make a couple of calls, no more. Connection is continuously dropping.
Full wipe was not a solution. Before the upgrade I never had a disconnection.
I also tested a couple of Bluetooth profiles apps, including Android Auto, but no luck.
I think we need a fix ASAP.
Is there an official support site where to make complaints regarding this update?
Ever since I updated to 11.0.3.0PGGEUXM I've been unable to use one of my wallet apps (bbva wallet), and am afraid something else breaks if I update; has anyone from Mexico updated and been able to use it again, along with citibanamex pay?

I'm opening a ticket reporting this issue with my phone...
I hope It will work
After 20 days I decided to downgrade back to MIUI V11.0.3.0PGGEUXM based on android 9, the only thing I liked about android 10 was the dynamic MAC address but it didn't compensate the high battery drain from the Android System, with up to 9-10 hours of CPU usage and about 6-6:30 hours of Screen-on time. I will test how many hours of SOT I have now.
