Anyone know of a USB-C splitter that would allow me to charge and use a DAC simultaneously? I'm aware of the Moshi accessory but I'm not confident used a high quality DAC and I'd prefer to use my own. Something like this, but terminating in a USB-C M+F or F+F would be perfect, although I feel like it would violate type-C's spec.

The one in the link shown there (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01N7TF8JV/ref=twister_B076B1S225?_encoding=UTF8&th=1) should do the job but it's quite large and pricey and has too many ports imo. Just two female USB c ports in a compact adapter would be fine.
Actually this simple idea (male USB c to dual female USB c) could have so many useful use cases.
- charging the phone and listen to music on 3.5mm headphones using the dongle in the box.
- charging the phone and listen to USB c headphones
- charge the phone and attach stuff like mice, keyboards, flash drives, or multiple at once
- charge the phone and chain-charge a second phone by USB pd
- charge two other phones
- attach two chargers to the phone (could be dangerous tho)
Etc...
I just found exactly what we're looking for! http://www.cusby.com/
The downside, they had an indigogo campain in 2015 and they've been silent ever since...
I submitted the idea to Belkin as they already have a lightning-equivalent (http://www.belkin.com/us/F8J198/p/P-F8J198/). Hopefully their team will like the idea and produce it.

Did you see the reviews? Doesn't work with the Pixel 2 unfortunately.
I have been searching for this as well and have been unable to find something. Can't believe it's that hard to find.

This doesn’t have a DAC so it won’t work. Plus what we’re looking for is two usb c ports
I found an other hub that is quite large but a lot cheaper https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Adapter-Type-C-MacBook-ChromeBook/dp/B01MZ6B2AF
Edit it doesn't seem to support power pass-through
I found a working solution (tested it myself) which is cheaper than Moshi. You can see it in my thread here:

Nice! Great to see it works! However it's still quite unnecessarily bulky, so I'll still be waiting for an adapter with just 2 usb c female
Another one... It does the job and is not crazy expensive but still too many ports imo...

Hey, I'm very interested in this. Can it charge and at the same time I can listen to my headphones? Is this compatible with the DAC thing?
I don't mind if it's a bit bulky... I just really need to listen to music through headphones while charging.

Yup it works! And it's not that bulky actually. However, it is a bit hard to get and it takes some getting used to (USB c is not everything yet).
^That one Looks like good splitter options!

Like you I was searching for weeks as well, but I couldn't find anything close to this... I even sent an email to Belkin to request them to make a USB c splitter like they have for lighting and they'd send it to their "ideas team" but of course I haven't heard anything from it since
Hi everyone, I'm searching for a ligh weight hub to connect audio + data. Anyone has tryed the splitter shown in the first post?
I want to play videos, etc, from a external memory in the phone and connect USB-C headphones with external DAC at the same time. I've seen some USB-C hubs but they are big and expensive with a lot of ports, so I'm thinking on a USB 3.0 splitter and a USB 3 to USB-C adapter for headphones
I don't need charging support, but not sure if a hub without power will work??? Because it has to feed headphoned DAC and memory stick.
thanks

Hello all, I've been searching this one now for a few hours and wondering if such a cable exists, surely it must do?
I am making a custom car dock for my Note 10.1 N8010 (2012 version) and would like a cable that allows it to charge (at the full 2 amps, I've got a car charger, the cable just needs a USB A plug to go into it) and also output audio through the dock connector. An OTG port for plugging in external storage would also be nice but not essential. Does such a cable exist? I don't mind if the audio side is RCA or 3.5mm jack, I can convert it to what I need.
The closest I could find is this one on Alibaba: http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/USB-AV-Audio-Video-TV-Out_60008986653.html but it says it's only compatible with the Tab 7" and has a minimum order quantity of 20 units, I only need one! There's so many cables out there for newer models but I can't seem to find one at all for the 2012 version.
Another possible solution might be something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Zek-Samsung-Galaxy-Reader-Adapter/dp/B00DZA6F74 , which, although powered, doesn't specifically say that it could charge the tablet (says it's to power connected accessories). Does anyone have any experience with something like this?
Can anyone else advise on this? As a last resort I could cannibalise one of the many cheap docks on ebay but I'd much rather use a cable for a neater result. Ideally my budget would be under £10 but I'd consider up to £25 as an absolute maximum.

Thanks for letting me know. Makes sense, I'm just surprised that no cable exists for charging and audio output at the same time along with OTG, I'm sure it must be possible somehow. I guess I'm just asking it to do too much, I may go for the video output cable from Alibaba in that case then and do without the OTG/USB functions.

Are there currently any adapters that allow charging while also using a 3.5mm jack?
The Google store has this, but nobody can give me any information on what "Coming Soon" means.
Any ideas?
Moshi has them available for purchase now, but only on their web site and not through google.
Hopefully that means google will have them soon, I really want one to leave in my car but i dont know if i can justify the 45$ price tag.

I was researching for such a solution. In the XDA U11 forum, I saw this and ordered it, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N0R1F1M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. You plug the provided 3.5mm adapter into it. It would be a bad portable solution, but might be good enough for a desk. I will report back on whether it works for the Pixel 2.

Yes please report back. As I understand those adapters need to have a DAC builtin, but if you are using oem dongle then perhaps it can communicate to phone through this adapter

I dont know if you looked at the product, but what he is doing is using the included USB-C to 3.5mm adapter that came with the phone, so that DAC would be there.
Spoke with manufacturer, they said it will work 100%
But I already gave away my P2, I decided to keep P1 for now until 8.1 release at least. I was excited about camera but I prefer P1 images they look better to my eyes

It works completely! I tested a bunch of scenarios and am very happy. Only drawbacks so far are the thing is about half the size of the phone and the pigtail is about four inches.
Here is what works:
Rapid charging with a USB-C charger
Playing back music through the supplied USB-C audio adapter with and without charging attached
USB cable to an iPad (at least it connected and was recognized but I could not access pictures; I had the same issue with the data transfer adapter so I don't think this hub is at fault)
USB cable to a Canon camera
USB memory card reader
It would not read my micro SD card in the hub's slot initially but I got it to work.
Notes:
I did not test using the headset adapter with a wired microphone. I don't know if that is supported and don't have one.
You don't have to change the USB settings to get it to work. It just worked automatically.
The charging port is the one closest to the pigtail. The other port doesn't work for that purpose. The white lettering on silver case is hard to read so it is easy to miss which port is required for charging.
I didn't test it with HDMI because I cannot get the phone to work with the HDMI cable I purchased even when directly connected.
Here is the link again: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N0R1F1M/
*edit: got the card reader to work.
Hopefully we'll have a portables position under $45!
In the meantime I bought a Bluetooth receiver so in the car I can charge and use BT for audio to the car.
You could also buy a Bluetooth receiver and plug your earhones in it.

So the 4 inch pigtail goes into the phone, the PD charging port is connected to your Pixel wall charger, and the 3.5 USB c adapter connects to the data only USB C port?
Did you try to connect a keyboard, mouse, or USB Ethernet adapter to the USB A side? I am curious if those device work on the Pixel 2.
Thanks for your info.

Correct; that is how I connected it. I tried an AnyKey security key that presents a USB keyboard interface and that worked as a keyboard. I don't have a mouse or ethernet adapter to try. I did also try a USB memory card adapter and that worked too.
I'm using this one, which is the same as the one above but cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075FHLTNM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It will charge the phone rapidly, play audio through the headphone dongle, read a micro SD card, read USB keys through the USB A ports, all at the same time, not bad for $14.
Moshi speaks!
FYI, this is response I got from Moshi rep, regarding the charge/play adapter.
While we do not know when exactly it will be available in Google's store, the same product is already available in our own web store - https://www.moshi.com/usb-c-digital-audio-adapter-with-charging
We are aware of that some users have been experiencing issues with this adapter, and we are already working together with Google on a solution for this. With that said, it appears that this only affects certain Pixel devices, as a clear majority of users (including our own product team and Google) haven't had any issues when testing multiple adapters on the Pixel devices in our office.
Although our team does not have a solution for the reported issues at this time, they are currently working with different software updates to see if this may resolve the issue. We are therefore not working on any hardware upgrades at the moment.
Hope this information helps.

Same here. I would love to find anything that will let me listen to my music with my wired headphones and charge my pixel 2xl at the same time. Google created this situation for us when they removed the jack. You would think they would at least have one solution. So if you could send me a new link or post it here, that'd be great!

surprisingly good! good distance. good sound. small and light. has aptX and up to 7 hours of play time. blocks out a good amount of outside noise too. best of all is the price!

Hi guys,
I've searched the Amazon websites and I found what I've been looking for. Bought it, tested it and I can confirm it's working! The phone is charging rapidly (as intended) and the headphones are working flawlessly. Check the attached images to see the end result. It's a little bulky but it does the trick.
What you need
1. Type C to HDMI/USB 3.0/USB 3.1 Type C 4 K Adapter - EUR 18.99 (link)
2. USB 3.1 Type C Adapter - EUR 7.99 (link)
3. Google's Audio adapter (for 3.5 mm plugs) - already in the box with your Pixel 2 XL
The quality of the sound is the same as if the Google's audio adapter is plugged directly into the phone.
The charging speed is the same as if you plug the charger directly.
Price comparison
Moshi Adapter/Charger - USD $44.95 which is about EUR 36
The two adapters from above cost a total of EUR 26 (without shipping, depending on your country).
If you're unable to buy the Moshi Adapter this is a good workaround.
If you have any questions - let me know.
Thanks, I have those on order from Amazon. I will report back on how it works out.

Update :
Worked fine. Really not any more awkward than the Moshi. No crossover hum or static. The Aukey port extender CB-C59 I bought has two additional USB A ports on the back as well as both a micro SD card reader and regular SD card slot. Also an HDMI port. The Warmstor USB male A to C female adapter came in a two pack.
Total was $44 US.
For portable use, I think you can get a type-c extension cable to hide all those dongles. I've been thinking of doing something like this for use in my car.
I probably missunderstood something but why not use some of this ? A lot more comfortable then this big hdmi thing or not ?

I think it has no DAC.
It is my understanding that the "USB 3.1 Type C Adapter" you mention is non-standard and non-compliant with the USB-C specification. Maybe it works, but I think we should not promote those non-compliant widgets.
See this review of Benson Leung (a Google employee that performs technical reviews of USB-C products) for a similar product.

Most probably.
I just got one from Gearbest (for a 3 Euros...) and when I plugged it, my 2 XL said the accessory only provides analog audio.
Basically, useless.
You gotta make sure that the adapter comes with an integrated DAC, or it won't work on Pixel 2s. I learnt it the "hard" way
Thanks for the suggestion, i added a usb c extender coz after a bit of time the weight of the box is getting annoying..
just tried this out and bought similar stuff amazon in canada. Glad to report it worked didn't cost too much but in order to use it you need to first plug in a power source and turn on the battery bank if necessary first before plugging in to listen to music and you cant use the dongle alone without a power source
Yoo this is it, that one we've all been looking and waiting for! Bought it and the reviews say it works. Search for the line I posted below on amazon because I can't post a link on here which is absolute bull****.

It's a little pricey but it works amazingly! It allows you to plug in multiple usb interfaces, allows for rapid charging while using headphones, and Ethernet with your phone if you are into that. The only ports I found that don't work with the Pixel 2 XL are the sd card ports and the hdmi (obviously). Everything else works correctly.
Only issue:
When you plug the device in the phone will tell you headphones are plugged in even if there not; the device is probably contacting with the dac on the hub. So you can't use the phones speakers while the hub is plugged in.
Other than that it works great!
I myself use this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01L8GCFNO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_79jbBb7N074HH
It's cheaper, hard to get, but it works okay!
I also got the aukey one and it works great. Hard to find now.
That's some insane connectivity there !
Nice !
Come to think of it, was that ethernet connectivity also possible with the microUSB 2.0 ports ?
What times we live in

Just plug in the adapter from Google you got in the box. That's how I do it. Plus this also works if you have USB c headphones.
