I had d same problem....after a certain number of tries....it unlocks ...(I tried any random combination ... except the one I had set before) and it opens after 3-4 tries....
Try this
Try to flash another custom ROM and then set up a pin code and then go back to twrp type the pin code and restore??

You can take internal storage backup using the "file manager in recovery" in "advanced option". Check it out, or YouTube it. After this you can format without trouble.

I clean flashed oxygen os open beta 10 clean flash on internal after removing aurora
now phone boots up and error comes encryption unssucessfull and so cant access internal storage
i flashed modified recovery via fastboot but it asks passoword for decrpyt wch i dont know
pc not detecting as mtp so cant copy files
please help
have some important docs on internal storage and i dont want to wipe
is there any possible soloution
Have you tried the latest Bluspark twrp? It has support for encryption, that's the only option you currently have.
Wouldn't you have deleted all your data when you clean flashed?
I am coming from Moto G3. It didn't have any encryption by default.
I saw some people post that they were having trouble to see files in TWRP recovery because of encryption. Can someone explain to me what's the deal with it? Should I have my phone encrypted while rooting and flashing roms? What happens if I decrypt it?
Thanks!
To my knowledge nothing is going to happen as long as the device isn't multi user. I have my data partition encrypted and TWRP works for me (actually using the blu_spark version).
so if you are using TWRP and data partition is encrypted with fingerprint unlock also set, while booting to TWRP, it will ask you to enter your password
the password is the same you used when setting up your fingerprint
while entering it, it will decrypt the storage automatically letting you flash files from internal storage
that is all you need to know
alternative way is to set security to swipe and you will boot directly to TWRP without needing a password

So TWRP decrypts internal storage when I enter it. Does that mean the next time I boot my device I don't have encryption and need to do it manually?

yes TWRP decrypts the data, but you need to password every time you boot in it
also TWRP does not remove encryption, unless you format the data partition
Let's just make sure we're using the correct terms. TWRP does not decrypt the data partition, it just uses the password provided to decrypt the master decryption key and then sets the correct credentials to access the encrypted data partition. So it stays as it is; you just make it accessible by putting in the correct password.
Hi,
I have GN7100 and after low battery this one shut down instant, this corrupt my internal sd card and now I can't boot to Lineage OS, I have encryption unsuccessful...
I have try to access to my data in twrp but impossible to mount my card,
I don't care about repair my phone, I want just recovery my data pictures, and SMS history (less important),
Do you know trick for do it ? I can't unmout the phone,
Thank you,
Sounds like the phone's encryption process was interrupted part way and it's in a semi-encrypted state.
Data recovery is going to be tough because there may be no way to unencrypt the data.
Please let us know if you find a solution.
Thank you.
I don’t remember enable encryption, no way to try recovery via PC ? I have twrp access to use tool

Hmm, I'm not sure why the phone would start to encrypt if you didn't choose that option.
Unless you can mount the data drive and pull the data, not sure that you will be able to recovery any data without going to a data recovery service.
I send to paypal account 25$ for whoever find solution
Hello, some time ago i posted something about my bricked phone, i did it again but not so badly.
So basically i tried to flash a GSI, and i kind of succeeded, the Phone starts and it asks me to put the password to start android, when i put it works but it says that the password i put was correct but the data was corrupt, i can go to TWRP and go in the files of an SD Card i have but, i cannot put anything in my internal storage via pc but luckily i have a chromebook, it also doesn't transfer to the internal storage, i tried to connect to my pc multiple times but it didn't work, so i want to know if i can re-install the Stock Rom via sd card with the help of my chromebook (it has 4gb)
If you are coming from Stock to GSI, you may encounter this encryption problem. The easiest way is to flash stock recovery after flashing GSI. Then boot, and when it asks you to enter password, and it fails, it tells you to reboot and the stock recovery will format your internal storage (TWRP can't).
If you want to get back to stock, just flash some stock firmware in fastboot (wiping data)
TWRP actually CAN format encrypted storage. It justs happens it won't work at the first try. You have to format two to three times, and on each format you need to reboot to TWRP until you format again and the red letters (errors) stops appearing. I do this all the time with 64-bit Treble TWRP and has never failed after doing this process.
hello guys ,sorry for my english...i can't do a full backup to my miui rom with twrp , i get the message : " "Can not create '/data/media/0/TWRP' folder (Required key not available)." .see the attached picture ...any help please ?
Format data, then it'll work, or at least that worked for me. Just back your sdcard up through USB first.

is there any other solutions other than format data? i don't want to start from the beginning, reinstalling apps and mods
Hello, for those who face the same problem, for my case, just disable the screen password before making the backup
Nice find. That didn't work for me at the time but I've read it might've been the recovery I was using. Glad you got it going.
sorry for answer late
its happend to me the storage is encripted u must wipe internal storage from wipe->advanced wipe -> internal storage only and swipe to wipe it

Use TWRP that support encrypted instead of these steps.

What do you mean? That their TWRP version is too old and doesn't support encrypted storage? It says "required key not available" so it mean it's recent enough to know about encryption so it's not sure that it's the issue.
