If you, like me, hate the stock Motorola music player but don't want to lose its integrated FM radio function, you'll like this.
Just download the attached APK and install it the usual way. It's been working great so far for me, even RDS, loudspeaker and all! And I like the interface more than the Motorola music player.
The APK is from a Droid 2, the radio hardware seems to be the same.
Please note that I tried this only in a European Defy, with the Central European SBF (JRDNEM_U3_2.34.1).
UPDATE 5th june 2011
Thanks to maniac103 there is now a fixed version of the app that fixes the crashes and problems saving stations. I tried on my 2.1 Defy and it's now rock solid! It also fixed the ugly icon in the notification bar.
Find the new version attached to this post, it's called FMRadio_fixed.apk.
I have already installed. its much better than the default application. you can save radios, listen from the speaker, and my default application didn't let me to put off the radio when I let it many time on.
thanks a lot!!
It work great on firmware U3 _2.21.0!
Thanks, this app it's more usefull and beautifull than the original one

PS. Didn't find a "pause" button

I've problems after altering the radio station list. If I save a station manually inside the list the radio app exits but the radio is still playing and the icon inside the status bar is still available. Also killing and restarting the radio app does't work.

Same happens to me, but reopening and then closing the app with Quick Exit worked fine.
Hey great work... Not being able to listen with loudspeaker was the worst thing about my moto... So this is perfect

Thank you! I will travel to my girlfriend in the weekend this will help me a lot
Love the app. Works on my Motorola Bravo MB520.
Hi! After a few days using this I have a couple of issues.... After getting it to work it's fine, but actually getting it to work is a pain!
Worked first time no problem however after that all I get is the initialising screen and nothing else... Have to force close to get the application to exit and manually end the fm service to try and start it again... If I want to listen to fm radio again I have to reboot or use crap stock player
Anyone else have experiences like this?

Yep same here + using bookmarks makes the app quit to the Defy's home. This app really doesn't seem to work fine on this phone
Well it isn't really for this phone... So not wholly disappointed! Ok I'm gonna struggle on and go back to my original idea which is a loudspeaker toggle, now I have my nice new android phone I just need to work out how to use it;-)

You're a star for putting this up for grabs.
Just what I wanted.
Played with it for a few a couple of days now and have had none of the issues others report.
If you use the stock earphones with switch that come with the Defy I discovered it found 6 six stations after scanning and reception certainly wasn't wow.
Did a rescan with a crappy set of £5 Phillips earphones, no mic no in line switches & it picked up 14 stations on scan. Reception is improved too.
And yes I did the scans in the same place and roughly the same time of day.
Thanks a thousand million tonnes. Loving it.
Crash when i tap over selected station and fc to launcher..

Hi there.
I have a Z5P single sim version.
After I updated to Marshmallow 6.0,
Bluetooth isn't stable when I connected to my car. My car is 2012 vw Jetta tdi stock radio system(not navigation).
Often music turned down then back to same volume as before turned down like when i get notification, text, email, etc.
Before I updated to Marshmallow, I had same issue a few times, but it wasn't big deal.
Now it's just so annoying. And I wanna fix it.
Does anyone have same issue as me?
If there is way to fix it, please let me know!
That was always the case... I am having lost or intermittent music if there are too many apps are opened... Some time closing open apps do not help, I have to close the music app and restart again...

Sorry for late response. I did same thing, close all app, or I just restart the phone. I use Spotify and all music is download in sd card. I also use Google music, and same thing happened. So I did forgot Bluetooth connection and recent connect again, but it's still happen. I don't really want to factory reset and use computer to fix program. It's too much to do. I just don't know what else I can do :/
Right now my Z5 is under repair and I have to do a factory reset so I will let you know if factory reset works...

I have ClearAudio+ is on in the settings. That's all. I noticed that I have same issue even on my Bluetooth headphone now. What is Viper?
I had some really bad issues with my SBH70 headset dropping out after the MM update.
I cleared all bluetooth settings from phone and headset, cleared data fro SmartConnect and SBH70 app, uninstalled all updates for both, then updated everything and reconnected to bluetooth. Seems to have helped so far.

Update:
So at first, I did reset Bluetooth WiFi and signal settings, also smart connect and app setting. It did better for a couple time, then back to terrible again.
A couple of days later, I couldn't take it anymore, so I factory reset and repair on computer. It seems much better. Maybe a few times I still have same issue.
Great news is battery life is improved a lot. Now I don't need to charge till I go sleep. Also less buggy and faster.
My conclusion about this issue is, it is not about Bluetooth. It is something about OS or some software issue. When the phone is buggy and slow, this happens even all other app is closed.
Now I will wait for update to see if it will fix this issue.

Has anyone found a fix for the sound cutting out after a few seconds of a video or game? I have tried the soubdabout app, Turing the USB option off, disable Power save.. Still happening..

I have the same issue sometimes, I've read around the web and it seems to be a mix of software and hardware related, I read a guy suggest removing and putting back the case (in case you have one) and I did that and the sound came back, haven't had the issue again.

Hmm, I keep mine out of a case,.. Yeah I'm not sure what it is, it's a 50/50 between some say software and some say hardware. I would asume that software would of been fixed by now, either Samsung or 3rd party
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
So I found a solution for the issue in my case, it does seem to be software but it's really weird cause the issue continues in any firmware, it started when I was on 6.0.1 PI2, then I flashed Nougat and had the same problem (I hated it and battery drain was killing me) I went back to 6.0 and changed to the PK2 version and the issue continued, it was really weird cause it would cut out in audio messages, games but not music, I also tried every single suggestion on every forum and post I could find EXCEPT the Soundabout app, today I gave up, installed soundabout, selected media to speakers and bam, problem solved, I still need further testing, but it seems ok for now, keep in mind that I also have "prevent USB audio routing" on and "Easy Mute" off.

Im trying the soundabout app now, I orginally had it set to automatic and was still having the issue, now I set it to speaker and so far so good.
as this worked for me but idk about others... I was told to remove all paired bluetooth devices (on/off doesnt matter) then go to settings>connections>more connection settings>nearby device scanning then turn off... worked for me... (sorry for zombifying an old post but as this is still current with mine and many devices i decided to help)

Hi,
I have a PX5 RK3368 car radio with MCU MCTE_HLA_V2.80b_2 (recently updated from MCTD_HLA_V2.47_1). When I use the pre-installed app for Bluetooth A2DP (bluetooth music), after a while the radio freezes completely, continuing to play music, but no longer responding to touch commands (the screen is completely freezed, even the information it shows). I have to reboot the radio to use it. I've noticed that sometimes it happens with Chrome, too. Is there a solution to the problem?
Thanks

I have the same problem on my xtrons 10.1 using the play store or Google chrome seems to cause this for me. My MCU is GS version 3.40. I get random black screen boot up errors as well.

That's what I'm about to try later today. What specific brand radio do you have? Also when you installed the update did you do it from recovery, or just load up the update zip and plug in to the radio and do it that way

Hi all
I've bought an OKNAVI PX5 4GB A53 Android 9.0 from Aliexpress for my Ford Fiesta from 2013.
MCU is MTCE_HXD_V3.53_1 and I don't know which bluetooth chip is mounted.
I can't get SWC to work at all no matter what I choose in factory settings. OKNAVI says I should choose this: factory setting -126-canbus setting -06 FOCUS(Raise) but it doesn't work. When I try to learn the buttons on the HU, nothing happends. I've tried many settings but nothing works. I'm starting to think it's a connection problem but I'm not smart enough to figure out what is right and what is wrong:silly:
I've attached some pictures so maybe someone can see some issues with the connections.
Problem with bluetooth is that I can't hear anything during calls. Mobile connects fine and I can play music but no sound during calls. I've tried different settings under factory - bluetooth but nothing helps.
Maybe someone is able to help with this.
OKNAVI is trying to help me with my issues, I am in contact with them. But they haven't been able to solve my problems so far.
I've searched this forum for answer but nothing have solved it so far. I'm thinking about installing Hal9_mod_4.0 to see if that will solve my issues but I doubt it will.
Hope someone can help me
That connector was it issue on mine the was a grey to grey connector and a lose purple one the purple one worked and the swc worked after that check they connections and try them all

Change the SWC KEY option to CAN KEY.
Thanks for your reply. Got the swc working after I switched 2 wires after support from the supplier and changed the setting to Can key[emoji2] And bluetooth is also working, how I don't know[emoji848] I've unpaired and paired a couple of times and suddenly it worked[emoji16]

New issue, I've learned the middle swc key the "mode" function and it's working fine, it switches between "FM Radio" & "MUSIC" & "VIDEO" & "ALVIN".
But is it possible to change which programs it switches between??? I would like to use DAB radio and Spotify instead but I can't find where to change that...
