I found a very good program for my Motorola MB525 (Defy) for monitoring the battery draining from the market.
It's name is Batery Monitor Widget and it's free.
With 81% of battery it says only 7 hours and 16 minute left without doing anthing!!! The data is on and Wi-Fi connected to my home network.
Is it normal?? In the night in airplane mode after 9 hours it drain 8%-9% of battery. Again: is it normal???
If you can try this application and report your results...I think there is some application that drain my battery!!
Thanks!
Not really a comparison here, just a little story.
Yesterday i screwed up my Defy playing around with some rom. Nothing terrible, but i had no time to re-flash another rom, i had to go to work. So, i pickep up my old SE xperia x1.
After an entire day, 4-5 calls and several sms, that phone drained less than 10%. Then, last night i put the x1 in stand-by, well, that was a real stand-by, no power consumption at all.
Now i'm back to Defy, 2 hours, 15% drained...
All this just to say android is amazing but terribly hungry of power, even when the screen is off, even when airplane mode is on. I don't need a comparison to know about it
EDIT:
you said your wifi was left on, well android is hungry of data too. Even if you do nothing while wifi is on an amount of data still flows, sometimes i can see several mb downloaded by my Defy in a few hours, but no real usage by me. This also contributes, you should try to turn the wifi off or disable background data when you don't need it.
In standby (3g, sync only calendar and contacts) I have 1-1.5% battery consumption / hour. I think this is normal
With my normal usage i have some 20-40% left at the end of the day... also Ok.
WIFI on & connected will consume a lot of battery so I am not surprised.
BTW I also had an Xperia X1 and the consumption was roughly the same as the Defy... In fact more than 1-2 days on a charge I very rarely had on any of my smartphones with normal usage.

last week I was working in the forest for a few days with no signal at all, so I turned on airplane mode: I remember it going from 45% in the morning to 42% in the late afternoon!
(with everything turned off, just used it occasionally to have an idea of what time it was)

It's ok to be an android fan, i like it too, as i said it is amazing. But, battery life is definitely NOT the strong point. I can compare the two phones now, at this moment. Honestly Defy's battery life is a lot shorter.

what's the other phone you compared?
I really don't have problem with Defy's battery life. As far as my memory serves, all cell phones I ever owned (7~8, all nokia, se, moto) could standby (just standby and don't use at all) for a week or made around 5 hours call. In my case Defy can also standby for a week or allow 5~6 hours usage.
I'm on a 2g network (probably helps alot), as I have wifi at home and at work. I have an exchange email, a gmail, 2 yahoo mails, and a weather app, all allowed to sync at default settings. I don't have facebook or twitter. GPS and bluetooth are enabled only when necessary (occasionally). I overclock Defy to 1000Mhz with SetVsel, and underclock to 300 when screen off. With conscious observation over some time, I find that 1% battery is consumed around every:
- 2 hours standby with wifi off; or
- 1 hour standby with wifi on; or
- 3~5 minutes usage (calls, emails, surfing,...)
thats some amazing battery life u got there abc ...what rom are u using?
hey guys, just a quick question. with which setting do you think i'll have longer battery life: 800MHz/58vsel or 1000MHz/56vsel? btw, i got my phone stable at 800MHz/45vsel

I was using the orange 2.2, and am using the finland 2.2 now. Both have similar battery usage.
But I have uninstalled some stock applications which I don't use but keep running in background, like BlurHome.apk (with Launcherpro), InPocketService.apk, ToggleWidgets.apk (with ExtendedControls), WeatherWidget.apk (with FancyWidget), VSuiteApp.apk etc.

You may be right, I had the Xperia X1 something like 1 year ago.
I had until now FSC T830, HTC Hermes, HTC Diamond, Xperia X1, Samsung i7500 Galaxy (my first Android), Acer Liquid and now the Defy. As far as I remember I always had to charge every night (or every 2 nights at best)
Overall I think Android battery life is worse than Windows mobile was BUT I also have more background programs running now than I had in the WM days.
What I definitely don't like in Android battery life is lack of consistency. One week you get30-40 hours at a charge and suddenly 12 hours... Than you have to make detective work: look what new App might be the guilty one, check what's running in background, reboot and see if it happens again, factory reset, etc. I guess this is the price of freedom
Im on uk 2.2 and i get three days at a push i jus have a weather widget on sync every 3 hours.
Iv also undervolted 300/16 600/29 800/39 with setvsel on performance mode and up threshold on 99% and limit to vsel 1 when screen iz off
Im on three uk so im constonly on 3g and use no wifi etc etc with normal sms usage and a few calls through out off 1 charge

There has to be something wrong in your case. I find that there seems no wifi/2g/3g connection. Could that be the problem?
I dont use 3g ..cuz its expensive in my country ..and I only turn wifi on when I need it
And that shouldnt be the case ...I think id loose a lot more battery if wi-fi would be on all the time
Post your Sony Xperia M battery life results !

7 days? So what? You almost do not use the phone at all.
I'm getting around 15-16h with sync,Wi-Fi or H+ data on (one or the other is on all the time),calls 1h+,screen time around 3-4h and no energy leaks (no more than 3-4% according to Wakelock Detector).
So yes,a Mugen battery would help maybe extend this to 20h.
It's only a 10% bump really (1750 to 1900mAh) at 45$!
If I charge the phone and leave it on overnight I easily get 24h but it's not really relevant since I need to charge it again at noon the next day...

True, everybody's usage is different at given times.
I was using another phone and I just had the chance to let an Xperia M idle for a week with only 1½ hours of light screen use.
Mail, Calendar, WhatsApp and numerous other apps were configured and active/sync'n, with background processes/services.
My main interest was to see what the telephony drain of maintaining a GSM signal with the phone's carrier over time would be.
I was happy that 97% of telephony was at the higher end of signal strength in the general area and that it only used ⅓ of the battery to maintain that signal over a week.
As a real controlled test, GSMArena Battery test for the Xperia M is one of the better ones for comparing battery life over various phones.
Besides, having a phone last for over a week on a single charge may be mooted often, but it's nice to know it can be done in real life AND that we can say 'so what' to boot, really extolls the virtue of an Xperia M (4" WVGA screen) and it's battery life.
Pity an XPERIA S(LT26) with 720p screen can't get half the battery life of the Xperia M on a 1700mAh battery *sigh*
Oh, one thing (amongst others) I found is that Sony TV Sideview woke the system 512 times (bringing it out of deep sleep) in a week when it wasn't even used compared to mail(kaiten) which only woke the system 337 times and was used. Google Play Service (927) and Android System (742) with time held awake loosely tracking the same apps. Poorly configured apps become more noticeable over a week of almost no use.

The above indicates that battery life has not been compromised with the fw upgrade to 15.4.A.1.9 as I note a screen time of 1h 25m on this battery cycle in the same environment.
From 98%, travelling in my weekly 5-hour trip to work, airplane mode activated, almost 5 hours of non-stop video watching and listening to music, battery got down to 30%. Pretty impressive considering it almost always goes down to 5% whenever I tried the same thing before.

Hey,
I have the One M8 and i was thinking about the M9 mainly for the battery.
I bought my One M8 about 7 months back and I've have been having the worst battery life. I get about less than 3 hours of OST (ON Screen Time) it won't go beyond that and I loose about 40~50% of battery in 5 or 6 hrs of standby time. Hell, this one day I charged my phone to it's maximum by 2pm and after listening to music for about 6 hours. I lost about 70% battery with 40min SOT with no call or texting.
Clearly something is wrong here. But... I don't know, maybe it's the LTE network or I was a Note 3 user before I got the M8. Maybe the 2days battery life spoilt me because according to Gsam
-battery life is 1d 1.8h (6h 23m active)
-screen On: 1h 46m (1h 44m MAX)
PS: I'm sorry I couldn't post any posts any screenshots. My phone is 100% charged as of now.
I tried everything from going to stock to custom ROM to different kernels. Turning OFF Google services (Google Now and location reporting), turning OFF mobile data, disabling sync, no GPS, brightness set to 20%, killing media server, greenify system apps and even maintaining the wakelocks using Amplify battery extender and even reading a lot of post on XDA to save battery. I still loose a lot of power.
Is this what 2600mAh has to offer.
Will the new 2,840mAh with 810 processor be any different.
Or should I just send my M8 for repair and hope I don't end with up a refurbished phone because I've had a lot of bad experience with a refurbished phones. I don't wanna do that mistake again.
Or should I get the Nexus 6 and get this over with.

looks like you're having problems with your battery. did you try changing it? these are the worst battery performances i've ever seen with one m8. something's wrong here but it's not about the phone. it's about your phone.

Do a battery test
if after 1 hr it below than 70% it's not good according to htc
You could try turning on Power Saver mode, it may help you out. But personally, even with Power Saver off, I can easily get 4+ hours of SOT on campus with my battery going from 12 AM to around 10:30 PM and still having about 30% at the end of the day.
Just for battery life? Nope. For a better camera, better speakers, better screen, better CPU, better GPU, Sense 7, and other under-the-hood improvements AND for a better battery than the battery in your older M8, yes, it's worth it.
Guys,
can someone (2, or 3 people) post their battery estimated time left when the phone is 100% charged. I think i have a faulty one but i dont remember what was the estimated time left for a phone with good battery. I know its estimated but i have mine showing 15 hours left when 100 charged, so i think its dying again...

Your battery is dying. Time to get a new one. There is a thread for that issue here.
Battery currently 50% and says I have approx 1day and 1hour left.(stock Android 5.1)
My GSAM Battery Monitor says I get average 1day 19hr per charge with average over 2months.
I'm on stock 5.1 with root access and have my phone tool'd up with frequency/governor management and stuff like powersave governor for screen off and etc.
Battery use is very subjective on a wide range of settings, location, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, telephony signal strength, LTE and general usage patterns, so one person's setting/use will not reflect another.
That said, one should get 24hrs easy even with over 4hrs SOT.

The Z1C battery stat's reflect the current real-time usage and project the available time left based on what is currently happening.
If your phone is configured optimally and you don't use your phone over night, it should only use approx 5% of battery.
If you use GSAM Battery Monitor you can check if any apps are keeping your phone awake, number of time your phone is woken and high CPU users.
You can check for telephony signal strength.
My phone is 100% signal strength (very good)
How much power is used to keep your screen displayed, with dimmer better.
Also you can see if your phone is in deep sleep when phone is not in use.
Over a 12hour period my phone is in deep sleep for 9hrs.
Use another phone for a couple of days and leave the Z1C with screen off for those few days.
If not used you should see over 3 days of battery life.
There is no answer to your question.
At the end of the day it's up to you to optimise your phone as best you can and base your decisions on previous battery use/experience with your known workloads.
If you're not gaming for a day or two and you have your phone as optimised as you can, then, 15hrs is crap and your battery is on the way out.

Sony Xperia Z1C Battery
Attached is a snapshot of the battery use in my Z1C running Android 5.1 stock with root access.
As noted, when the phone is not in use the battery almost flat-lines with very little use.
When battery use is almost a perfect triangle on the two axis and from 100 to 0%, then it's a good indicator the battery is failing/failed.
Replacing a battery on a Xperia Z1C ...well it sucks...to say the least :crying:
You need to add additional adhesive on the top left near the camera location as that's the area that tends to come unstuck after the back cover is replaced.
Also good batteries for an Xperia Z1C may be hard to find now.
The original batteries are marked with the manufacture date as yy-ww (Year and week[0-52])
If you find an original battery AND it DOESN'T have the NFC conductor glued on it, then you have a good chance of getting a good battery.
If the NFC conductor is glued onto the battery, then there is every chance the battery is just an old one pulled out of a previous Xperia Z1C.
Good luck.

A tube of glue and an Xperia Z1C are almost synonymous with each other these days.
I had to glue the bottom speaker cover and the magnetic charger back on again... plus the back cover several times.
Currently I have used 25% of the battery and 2hrs SOT as seen in the attached.
I get a reported ~7hrs of on screen time per 100% charge cycle.
Email, WhatsApp, web browsing using RSS in Opera Mini, Tapatalk, Shopping apps, system/file management, Youtube and etc... (No gaming nor social Facebook, Twitter, Tinder...and etc)
Deleted all Bloatware out of /system/app and system/priv-app.
Update - ..ummm.. is Clash of Clans and Battle Command gaming...me thinks not.. but maybe it is.. ..any way throw a 15min mix of that into the pot too.
If you're not using much CPU you'll get more SOT, which is why gaming is a bad indicator as it's hard on CPU and screen, unless you have a game that does not get updated anymore(known stable unchanged test environment) and you benchmarked it a few years ago.
Then you can use the same game as a good indicator for any current status changes.

2 hrs SOT is awsome for 25% battery. I got 1 hour for 100%. But it doesnt mater. I bought another generic battery yesterday (originals are almost impossible to find). So lets see what it happens after.
Hi to all F3 owners hope your enjoying your new toy?
Only query / disappointment for me so far is that battery life is nowhere near as good on Fold 3 as it was with Fold 2.
1.5 hours light usage today and I am down to 58% - mostly indoors and on WiFi
I expected the latest Snapdragon 888 to have as good of not better power management than last year's CPU.
What is other F3 owner's experience?
WhatsApp has been running for 25 mins and eaten ~30%? You have something deeper going on there it looks like.
Digital wellbeing is a battery eating feature itself. Turn it off and you will get more battery time.
I have similiar problems with battery. But in my case, it's Calls that take a lot battery, windows link too..

Believe it or not to today has been very light usage compared with a typical day
I have same Apps and settings as i had with my Fold2 so don't know what's up
Hopefully after a few more days of battery usage learning things will settle down

A completely different list of apps with top battery usage is shown with the 2 screen shots...hmmm
This happens with every release of every new phone. It always takes a few days for it to settle as it's downloading apps, settings, updates, etc. It's WAY too early to compare battery life. Give it a week.
Give it time to take a calibration and you to stop using your device not in the muscle memory you and the phone will develop.
Then they'll push a firmware upgrade that destroys all that hard work you and your new fold put in getting to know one another.
See Buds+ battery stat.
Only paired them with phone 2 hours ago to so recording 10 hours of background battery usage is quite an achievement
I reckon the battery usage stats are unreliable on my Fold3 ...
Estimated 15 hours on a full charge..... Spectacularly BAD if accurate long term
Battery drain (mostly standby) in first hour is 6%

Total app usage in 90 mins since coming off charge is 1.9%
Therefore standby drain is 4.1% per 90 mins. Not ideal.
I didn't notice a particular issue whith battery life on mine l nearly 10H of uptime with 35% remaining is alright in my book)
yah i definitly see what you mean

yah but alot of time its not always accurate
I'm having a 6h30 SOT with lot of web browsing and gaming with mainly usage of the big screen so not bad at all for me
Update: today I put !y SIM card in another phone and used Fold3 on WiFi only
Normal battery drain and good SOT
Can only hope September OTA improves network radio power consumption

Thanks for the feedback ! I'll try disabling my sim (esim) for a day to see if it makes a difference

Accubattery estimates 6hrs SOT time is, which I think is a out what I got from Fold2. My previous high battery drain does appear to have been network / radio related
