Non on 7.1. You need root to use it. 8.0 will allow for non root.

That sucks

on 8.0 also it has to be a stable build (not beta) and then also it's not 100% guaranteed it will work, depends on the rom.

Thats crazyy i figure op5 would be more compatible since its pretty stock

Some misinformation in this thread.
Stock OxygenOS (whether with or without root) has issues with MOST themes for Substratum. A couple that are actually built for OxygenOS will work with minor glitches.
Substratum does NOT NEED ROOT to work, even on 7.1. However, the firmware has to be build with some specific features to accomplish this. Most OMS firmwares (AOSP) do not need root to be themed. This is why Oreo stock firmware works without root because it has these prerequisites.
I would wait before trying to theme your stock OP5T until either a themed builds one specifically for it (would still need root), or until a good AOSP firmware comes out that you can theme without root.

yeah , i'd also recommend waiting at this point. OxygenOS is really terrible when it comes to themeing/skinning (it's never been really standard when it comes to that), Oreo should change this quite a bit by bringing OMS to the table for all roms finally (tho i'm sure some manufacturers will start to remove it from their android port *sigh*).
Once Oreo is well deployed on most big brand names, you'll see substratum take off even more, i'm sure (in fact i'm assuming once OMS is everywhere, there will be some competition too, but we'll see about that...).

Wuawei Watch & rooted Nexus 6P

I'm going to buy a Huawei Watch and I have no experience about smartwatch.
My question is this:
Huawei Watch works well with a rooted Nexus N 6P with Android 7.0 (soon to 7.1.1)?
Or maybe the root of Nexus affect some function?
Thank you.
Yes.

Thank you for your quick response.
You have verified that the root does not affect the cooperation between the two devices?
I ask because I read in some thread (can not remember where) that the root may affect the communication between smartphone and smartwatch.
Thank you.
Root & custom roms works fine with them.
My Huawei watch works fine on my stock rooted 6P on DP2.
Yes, I m using it over CM13, which is the custom ROM and on rooted device with no issue.

There's something wrong with your specific ROM then, because many others have no problem.

I got the message regarding custom Rom and the Wear App can't open when I upgraded the wear companion app to 2.0. I got the solution to change the user type debug to user in system boot properties file but I prefer to downgrade the companion app to 1.5. Now I m using 1.5 with no issues.

That's BS, I have the watch and Custom ROM the latest stuff and everything works amazing, there is no difference rooted or not.
I also tried Android 2 dev preview works great.
I also unlocked and rooted and flashed custom ROM on the watch itself later, and it's amazing.
ROOT/CUSTOM ROM, have nothing to do with Android Wear or the watch functionality!
If Android Wear is available in your country to download from Google Play, you are good to go

works well with my dev preview, rooted 6p, on 7.1.1.

Recommended ROM for sm-n910v?

Mainly wanting to keep it clean, i prefer a stock debloat that's smooth and good on battery, a few bells and whistles are always nice but the main focus being functionality. Any suggestions? Comments on specific Roms?

Stock, rooted, then debloat it yourself with Debloater, perhaps?
Other than that, Jasmine more than likely which is based on stock but has some other goodies and can still benefit from debloating.

These two are your best bet for close to stock. Both are great on battery and on the newest firmware so it's just a preference on what mods you want. I have stock, rooted ROMs in post 2 and 3.

Unfortunately you will have to root and unlock again with this guide. Then you will be able to run the new ROMs. I found this guide very helpful too.

Honestly you should run stock flash magisk and a kernel. I'm also using substratum. You would never know I am running stock. I have a custom lockscreen and center clock root etc...

Thanks I'll look into that. It's been almost 2 years since I had an unlocked phone that I don't know much about magisk.
Magisk is great it's like super user but it hides root automatically from things like Android pay and other apps that block root. Flashing a kernel is important when you flash magisk because most contain the patch to hide the fact that your bootloader is unlocked. Without that you can't hide root.

I am not the developer, Couldn't able to answer it in the technically way,
but for me, this is the updating from 4 to 8, from Nouga 7.0 to Oreo 8.0,
For me it does perform faster, UI looks cleaner.

You can update to Oreo without changing the bootloader version. Oreo has been out for a while and most carriers, except Sprint, upgraded to it while still using b4.
The bootloader is basically a security measure to prevent unauthorized use of the phone like modding or changing roms. B8 isn't rootable, so if that matters to you, don't update. For Sprint users on b5,6,7 this allows the Unlocked firmware to be installed again.
Most people will just see it as another update, but most of the XDA community see it as a gift for updated Sprint phones or avoid like the plague for others because of root and flexibility.

Who can say when the the binary 12 will be released?
My phone in binary 11 no fingerprint scanner work, hope it will be fixed in binary 12.

Any way to get future security updates on Pixel 2XL, custom roms?

Haven't rooted and installed custom roms since Nexus phones since everything ran good and loved getting security updates on the Pixels. I know this is ending.
Is there any way to get the newest security updates such as installing a custom rom?

You sort of answered your own question. Yes the only way going forward will be with a custom rom and that's only if you don't have a Verizon model.

Since pixel 2 xl will soon stop receiving updates, I am building a pure aosp rom. I need testers for the rom. If someone is willing please let me know.
