Help plz, weird baseband/EFS/IMEI problem... - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guyz, Snakeforhire here. For some reason I can't access my old account anymore so had to create another one :/
My 3rd phone (not in production) is a N7100 which behaves weird since I flashed a stock 4.4.2 ROM on it : when I boot it up, it loads OK, recognizes the SIM card and asks for the PIN to unlock it, but once fully booted it doesn't pick up a carrier and displays the barred circle instead Wifi and bluetooth work OK though.
From what I can see it has a valid IMEI (an analyser tool from PlayStore recognizes it as a valid GN2 IMEI), and the EFS doesn't seem corrupted.
"About device" displays the following info :
Android version : 4.4.2
baseband version : N7100XXUFND3
Kernel version : 3.0.31-1280411
(....)
Build #KOT49H.N7100XXUFND3
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thx !

Has the phone been blacklisted from your carrier? Is it possible there is a loose connection inside?

LG ks20 - lost IMEI after flashing

Hallo,
I'm new in the forum, i was advised to register here in order to try and find solution to a problem my ks20 has after flashing a rom.
I tried today for the first time to flash a rom in my new ks20(i bought it yesterday used with cooked rom on), i followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369481.
When my phone tried to open, after flashing, this message came up "illegal use unavailable OTP Block".So i flashed another rom in order for the phone to open. With the new rom it opened but it had lost IMEI number and cannot connect with any phone network.
I have made a nv backup with LGMDP but when i try to use LGMDP to restore it i have the same message as before "illegal use unavailable OTP Block" when the phone turns on.
I tried with different roms branded and unbranded. I also tried this http://www.myphone.gr/forum/showthread.php?t=181820&page=360
I dont know what went wrong, nv backup procedure was complete, why do you think that nv backup is not good? I am ready to through the phone away
Maybe you can provide me a solution or another nv backup with my imei ( as i read somewhere in here) if the one i have made is not good.
Thanks , waiting for your help.
LGMDP_EURO that i used to change the rom created two folders: one is called NvBackup and the other folder is named with my imei number, i used both .nv2 files that are included is these folders but every time the result after restoring was the message "illegal use unavailable OTP Block".
I don't know what to do!
Please if anybody has a clue
what rom did you last install?
Was it the branded or unbranded version?
The last rom was Greece Vodafone 10g it is branded.
The problem when i tried to install a cooked rom which i think it awas also branded.
My phone is vodafone branded
did you restore your nv2 in emergency mode?
no i installed a new rom (so that the phone could turn on ok even with wrong imei) and i tried to restore with the phone turned on
shut down your phone, start emercency mode(press : "Send" "Browser" "Power") a green led will shine on your mobile and connect it, and try to restore your back up nv2
how can i do that from emergency mode? i don't have "nv Default" option, also there is no "reset database & contents"
if you have msn send me your email adres in a private message.

Did you solve your problem?
If not give rickou26 your imei number and ask him to make you a backup nv2 file.
use the program MTTY because it's only USB or has unlock without backup (like me) and has still bluetooth activated car solve the imei and bd address problem with that (should be works with usb cable also) :
1) get the phone recognized by windows and activate modem serial port interface
bluetooth perifs-> properties -> services -> check the 2 boxs
3) start -> programs -> accesories -> communication -> hyperterminal ->
set a name and modem port (should be found in step 1)
'call' (yellow phone)
4) type "AT" (without quotes) should see "OK"
5) type ATZ (activate echo)
6) AT%IDDE to unlock
7) AT%IMEI=X,X,X,X, ....
(15 chars) replace X by IMEI code or what you want
8) AT%BTAD=X,X,x,x,x,x ...
(12 chars from 0x0 ->0xF) same for bluetooth address, warning : the digits are in little endian (inversed)
9) switch off and on and the bluetooth should work again without asking for BD address
this method has worked for a KU380 only by bluetooth without install third party program to backup or repair and should works for other phones
help this dummy out ...
i met with the similar issue....

[Q] SuPrimo v23/30 with CDMA Converter vXX

Hello to all of you! Can anyone help me to find out one little thing?)
I was searching for the info about converting SuPrimo 23 (updated version). I really loved that! It's just I can't convert it to CDMA as well. I tried with CDMA Converter v15 but it didn't work. (I took it from developer's site shubham(dot)viperbravo(dot)info. Needless to say, the phone was unrooted, cwm's set... the phone's virgin mobile.
So, when I'm trying to get into diag mode it just shows me the message about USSD problem (which is definetely from GSM world, not CDMA). So, what I have is a device that can be used just as box of widgets)) no phone, no wifi. But there's radio and internet through cable connect to pc.
Oh well, any tip?
upd1:
Kernel version is 3.0.30JmxPrimoC+ [email protected] #1 PREEMPT
Radiomodule 1.00.00.0521_2
Release number 2.22.401.1 CL92876 release-keys
Andriod version 4.0.4
SuPrimo v23 was converted with SuPrimo v15.0 and instead of cdma settings I have gsm one, like emtpy imei, imei sv, imsi plus no phone number, no mac address is given.
Any ideas, please?
upd2:
After searching all over (in here and other sites) I dropped to a solution which brought me to a bricked phone and then kinda recovering.
What was done
- the rom from VM RUU was taken, which led to 'bricked mode';
- Jmz PrimoC Kernel v0.1 's taken and was flashed the kernel;
- then VM odex is installed (which led to bricked again)
- then SuPrimo 23 and SuPrimo Converter CDMA 15; (all settings appeared - yeeha! - but! ) got another weird problem - 'Unfortunately, Personalize has stopped'.
I donno what causes the problem.I read there might be a CID problem.. but not sure.
Still help is needed and appreciated. 'Cause except my settings and chinese map (??) nothing more works) for now.
can't drop in diag mode
Well, continue my research)
Many of you know what command to use to get into diag mode, this is ##3424#. But my phone doesn't allow it. Like if it's a gsm model. Donno why. So, what I did is I used such a command:
- *#*#3424#*#* (this is HTC Function Test v3.01.01g)
It gives a list of tests which you may run. So, I run device information and and it shown me Model Number, Dev serial, MEID, Phone numberand MSI all correct. Then I run Hardware information and Software info and all's okay too.
And then I run another command - *#*#4636*#*# (Testing) And took a look into Phone Information:
Neighboring CID: unknown
GSM service: Emergency calls only (?? why?)
Network type: unknown
GSM disconnects: =====DATA======
Set preferred network type: CDMA auto (PRL)
I donno why ##diag# doesn't work. Coz of that my pc doesn't see COM port of htc and therefore I can't use QPST or CDMA workshop or whatever that changes settings of the phone.
Help me please, what direction should I take a look at?

I am currently running SuPrimoV.30 with CDMA converter V.15
Using TWRP recovery allows you to flash the zips in the correct order as listed below.
1. Did you perform a full wipe when installing SuPrimoV.23/V.30?
2. Be sure to flash CDMA converter right after flashing SuPrimoV.23/V.30.
3. Boot into fastboot and flash the boot.img from CDMA converter zip.
4. Reboot phone and Enjoy SuPrimoV.23/V.30. Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me.
TWRP? Why not CWM?(I used CWM-based Recovery v.6.0.1.5)
And if TWRP - then which version (link is appreciated)
I used full wipe. But as for 3. - cwm & converter zip. I'll try the way you suggest and set the newer version of SuPrimo.
Thank you for your help!
Twrp is nice because it is touch not the buttons. In my opinion I freaking love touch recoveries. Twrp seems to be less buggy than the cwm for hov on CDMA. The current version is 2.3.1 somewhere on the hov forums

Well, I did all as you've written. Phone is clean) (no phone number) and no diag mode still. (
upd:
And yes, in v.30 I had a problem with camera (it didn't work). So, I changed my rom to jmz one.

Hey,
same for me ! I put a new sim connector (hardware) but same problem ! It's a software problem. Where download RAW and DNX/IFWI for EU phone ? Why the IMEI switch to 0049 and network operator refuse the connnexion ?
