After having the tmobile variant of this tablet for 3+ years the screen is officially broken.
With adb debug not turned on I can't access info about the tablet.
I need to find out what rom I flashed on this for the replacement I bought - without the use of the screen, with adb debug mode off.
Is it possible to get the rom fw version without adb debug and no screen access?
P. S. The one good thing - if it is good, is that windows is allowing me access to the internal storage. + it's backed up to my Google account.
Why do you need to find out what rom you had? What are you exactly replacing?
Your device supports MHL.

Dear XDA Devs,
I'm having the following problem with my Sony Z1 compact. Last night I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. The screen itself works perfectly only the touchscreen does not work anymore. Unfortunately we are not able to enable usb debugging so we are required to put the phone into recovery mode and use "adb shell" to enable usb debugging (so we can backup some data before we get a new phone).
However we tried various methods to put the phone into recovery mode but we cannot get it to work. The phone runs the latest official stock rom. What are the exact stept to press buttons to get the phone in recovery mode, or do we need to custom flash a recovery partition?
Already many thanks!
p.s. the phone is currently locked with a pattern and connected to a Google account.
The most important thing is a full backup of the data (notes, picture that are not on the SD card). We have a Windows and Mac computer so we can test various options.

Official stock rom has no recovery.
Just buy, borrow or make USB-OTG cable and use ordinary computer mouse.

**You need to have usb debugging enabled. -> not able to enable usb debugging -> that's why I needed recovery mode
Thanks for the reply. I already found a solution by using a usb mouse / keyboard (Z1 compact natively supports USB OTG) to access the phone.

Glad to hear... Sorry I wasn't more specific - I just knew there was a solution out there not too hard to find.
So I have my girlfriend's water-damaged HTC Desire 620 and am trying to recover some data not stored anywhere else. The screen works and the phone boots but digitiser does not work. It will charge and connecting to my PC it recognises it as an MTP device that is empty. The phone is locked, there's no custom recovery and adb debugging is not enabled. My attempts to resolve so far are:
1. New digitiser/digitiser+screen assembly failed - I assume the connector is faulty.
2. OTG cable with mouse - mouse doesn't work, light doesn't come on. Cable/mouse aren't faulty as checked with own phone.
3. Android SDK / adb - when booted normally, no adb devices are recognised at all. When I boot in recovery it recognises a device but it is unauthorised. As I have zero access to the phone itself, I can't physically enable debugging on it.
So that's as far as I've gotten. From what I gather, without the device being authorised I won't be able to get adb to work. I am way out of my depth at this point but any help would be amazing. Even just to know if this really is a lost cause or not.
Thanks
So i dug out my whole T705 in hopes of getting some kinda screen mirroring running (to my phone) so that I could install some emulators, pair some controllers, and use the device on my TV as a gaming/media streaming device.
I know the BEST solution is to replace the LCD, but it costs the same (if not more) as buying a used tab s..
SO, I have been trying to get adb debugging enabled from adb... I can adb to the device in recovery, and I have tried this: LINK. But it didn't work, and in fact, it might have caused a boot issue because the tablet doesn't boot up. (it used to, and the touch screen still works).
Not sure what else I can. Is there a firmware or image I could flash that has adb debugging enabled?
Hello.
After almost 3 great years my Moto bit the dust. I was wondering if it's possible to recover data from it.
Its display is broken, but i know it works, because I can still unlock it with fingerprint. It's rooted so obviously USB debugging is enabled, but it doesn't show up on device manager nor on adb devices list.
Any ideas?

If you boot it to TWRP, where MTP is enabled by default, so you can copy files to your PC
Hi I used adbappcontroll and uninstalled some system apps now I'm enjoying my time looking at Samsung logo
I have usb debugging enabled but it is not set to always remember this device aaaaaaand i don't have bootloader unlocked my phone is not rooted either
my device is sm-a505f/ds and it was updated to the latest software and I'm looking for a way to either a) ideally use the phone normally
or b) backing up as much data as possible
system / mount seems to have no effect and update from adb can only sideload (idk much about last one)
