Hey guys, does the phone stock Android comes with any gesture? Like tap twice to wake or even just put a finger and it just unlocks without having to press the power button

Nextbit stock OS doesn't have any of the gestures you mentioned except the jump to camera option when pressing the power button twice. However, a lot of custom ROMs such as OMNI, RR, AICP, etc has many gestures such as double tap on status/nav bar to sleep, the same jump to camera gesture & three-finger swipe to screenshot.
OMNI had the feature to keep the fingerprint sensor active so that you don't have to press the power button, but that feature was removed. RR and some other custom ROMs have the FP unlock feature where you can unlock the device with the fingerprint sensor after reboot / first boot.

Thanks, the only thing that bothers me is the need to press the power button and then use the fingerprint sensor.

This was an amazing feature I had on my G2 running Andromadus Mimicry ROM back about a year ago.
If you held the power button down for 2 seconds when the screen was off, it would activate the LED flash and essentually turn your phone into a flashlight. This is MUCH more convenient and intuitive than tapping the power button, swiping to unlock your screen, clicking on the Torch app, then clicking the lightbulb to turn on the flash.
Does anyone know of a ROM or app for the LG Nitro that has this? Supposedly it is an AOKP feature, so I installed JellyBAM which is a blend of various ROMs including AOKP and I was unable to find any setting to enable this.

to save you some time it isn't in the PAC ROM, or avatar ROM either.

In CM10.1 (or -based roms) you can simply press pwr (no need to even unlock), swipe down, and click the torch "plate", which instantly turns on the light. Then just press again to turn off.. Pretty easy IMO.

CM 10.1 has the option to set Torch similarly to the harware buttons like said above but I believe it cannot be set to the lock/power button. For example all you need to do press the lock button then hold down the home button and it automatically turns the LED on and after you're done you hold to turn it off. With jellybam v7.1 you have to unlock/enter pattern and hold the set hardware button . But by far personally Jellybam is a much better Rom at least for an experinced and it wouldn't be worth it to switch over something like that. Try setting the Torch wiget to one of the side screens at the lock screen. If you come up with something better or have a question please post :fingers-crossed:
Setting it to the Notification Bar or Lock Screen is nice, but nothing beats holding one button down and pretending your phone is a physical flashlight :/
Maybe one day someone will port the AOKP feature over to the Nitro.
Using an app called Torchie, just press both 'volume buttons' together to turn on/off torch anytime. It runs as a background service and just works anytime, even when screen off (if enabled from Torchie Settings). It kinda make your phone feel like a conventional battery operated torch. No root required.

I come from htc m9 where lock/unlock screen was pretty straightforward. double tap to unlock and navbar shortcut for screen off
here we have power key, ambient display, fingerprint, double tap (with EXkernel) for screen on
and navbar shortcut, fingerprint gestures, power key for screen off......
wow. so much choice...too bad that these methods override sometimes, like double tap is useless with ambient display, and fingerprint makes all of it no-sense....
How do you play with it?
Screen on: ambient display (only enabled for notifications) or fingerprint
Screen off: Nova launcher shortcut, power button sometimes
Screen on: power button
Screen off: double tap statusbar (anywhere)
Simple.
ON - fingerprint, power button
OFF - power button
wow there are people who still use power button hahaha
On: fingerprint or swipe up
Off: double tap

Same. Don't like active touchscreen for this function. I like to carry my phone by holding it front and back side. Also sometimes I press the edges accidentally when I do something else.

Your surprise (and apparent disdain?) toward people using the device as designed is confusing to me.
Did you honestly believe that *ALL* 5X owners would fear that the physical power button would break from normal usage?
Screen on: Fingerprint sensor
Screen off: Sweep2Sleep gesture. Available in various custom kernels

on: fingerprint or power button
off: greenfy hibernate widget button
Screen on: fingerprint or double tap to wake in EXKM
Screen off: double tap on navbar
On: fingerprint
Off: power button (it's there, it works and i don't have to have a special feature to use it)
Screen on, swipe up
Screen off, tap invisible power button in far upper right hand side of status bar. Tap closes screen, long press brings up the power button menu.
If on stock 7.1.1, flash this to get it. Full systemui tuner included (Navbar adjustment and brightness bar removal)

well, we can live without buttons now, since they have a lifespan touch/accelerometer methods should be preferred by anyone who cares about his phone...
I don't use any since 2011, once you get used to alternative methods...you can't go back

I owned Galaxy S1, Galaxy S2, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, OPO1 (supports DT2W), and now N5X.
I have never experienced a faulty power button.

People online says that the fingerprint scanner can be used for gestures, but what exactly?
Can I use the fingerprint scanner as a home button on tap with back on swipe left and recent apps on swipe right?
Thanks.

When using the gestures, tapping the scanner (not press) is back, holding is recents. When pressed it will go home and holding a press activates now on tap / assistant.

Swiping works on Lenovo Vibe P1 not P2. I am missing it much
I would like it to be able to swipe through different screens also but it wont do that
Hey guys, anyone know of an app that doesn't the stock gestures? Particularly the drop down notifications menu.
I've tried with Finger Scanner Gestures but it broke the drop-down.
I'm looking to being able to lock the phone when long-pressing the fingerprint.
Thank you!
Its easier to reach the power button instead of the FP for long press ...
Weird options of yours

Thing is I don't know how much it'll last. I've experienced deterioration in the past with the power button. Also idk, it seems more comfortable to do it with the fingerprint.
I'd also love to get other gestures to work tho .
Why not remap one of the on screen buttons to lock screen function? It's a built in OOS feature and that way, you don't have to use the physical lock key button.
The one feature I miss most from custom ROMs is the ability to turn the flashlight on/off with a simple double press of the power button, regardless of whether the phone is locked or not. Is this possible on this phone? I'm rooted.
When you're in a tight spot it sucks to have to press the power button, expand Quick Settings, find the flashlight icon, and tap. The double button press was awesome.
If you are rooted you can load the active edge mod from the magisk repository and then install the edge Sense program. I have my flashlight coming on when I squeeze my phone. So much easier Tha any other way.
