Please help me , i was using my xperia m with cyanogenmod 12 since last 2 years , suddenly someday it got hanged , and when after 15 minutes i removed the battery, and restarted the device,
It started , but askes
"to start android, enter your password,"
Any password i give, it says woth a header
"Decryption unsuccessful"
"The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is encrypted, you should reset the phone"
And below it gives a restore button
After that i clicked the button, and it rebooted to cyanogen recovery..
I wiped the data , cache, and media,, and rebooted to system.. but the same problem occures evertytime..
Later i discoverd , when im trying to wipe the data, it says , "faild to mount E:/Data " installation aborted..
Please help me , i want to fix this.. i would love to pay atleast 1k if anyone helps me..
Ill give the pictures also..
Please i beg for help, this phone is really close to my heart.. i want to fix it..
Same here with C1905.
After first time I was able to somehow wipe everything but now I can't.
I've tried through ADB without any succes:
e2fsck -b 8193 /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata
e2fsck 1.42.9 (28-Dec-2013)
e2fsck: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

Your device has got a problem called "ebola". You have to change your motherboard to solve the problem.
Hey!! Were you able to restore your device? or somehow flashed a new ROM? Recently I faced the same problem. I am not able to flash new Rom, or even flash kernel, or system image using Flashtool. If you've any luck in restoring the device please can you help me?

So I tried cyanogenmod6 and it wasn't my favorite. So now Im trying to restore my image that I made before installing cyanogenmod6, I can start the recovery and it finishes saying "E: error in CACHE: recovery/log (No space left on device)" I try rebooting and it stays on the HTC white screen. What do I need to do?
may be installing another rom might solve the problem..not sure though..just give it a try!!
Full wipe then flash another rom ... it might be a bad img file
Thanks for ur help guys. I figured out I had to uninstall cMTD.
Now, I was using 5.2 flashed over 5.1.11, now I decided to do clean installation(after wiping).
I did full_wipe_1.5_ext4--->then used format_data_to_ext4 from the first post in this thread--->get error when I tried to install 5.2(the md5 is ok, I installed it from this zip).
Then I tried again to full_wipe...and I get error in it--->then I tried full_wipe 1.3(worked)--->format_data_to_ext4(worked without error)---->but when I tried to install the rom(5.2) I got "formatting partition proccess--->e: error in /sdcard/android_rev....5.2.zip (status 1)
So, I am without any rom, can't install... I guess I ****ed it up when I applied format_data when I started. Now I will be thankful if someone join realtime to help me, I guess it's got something to do with mount/unmount but I don't know what exactly to m/un, and I don't want to **** it up more. Someone for steps on repairing this and install clean 5.2?
For deleting. The problem emerge because I needed to manually unmount /cache... strange.
okay so i was trying to install cyanogenmod 7 on my tmobile G2 (vision) , at first when i added the google apps and everything crashed including adw launcher (i think thats how its spelled) so i yanked out my battery and cleared user data and then it was stuck at the bootloop so i tryed to reinstall and then it failed saying (status 1) , i tryed nightly and regular but they wouldnt install , i even tryed to restore but it wouldnt let me , clockworkmod recovery tells me that ( E: cant mount /cache/recovery/command , /cache/recovery/log , and /cache/recovery/last_log ) i try to format /system , /data , /cache but none of them will format or even mount , so i come to result that my G2 is BRICKED
i still have s-off and i can still access recovery but i cant do anything , and when i tryed to flash a PC10IMG.zip it trys to update the bootloader and gives me Fail-pu , is there anything i can do to make my phone operational ? i need my phone working as soon as possible , PLEASE AND THANK YOU
i can access fastboot if this helps anybody with helping me , i dont really know how to work it but i get the basics like how to redirect to folders,
i tryed updating from fastboot with that PC10IMG.zip from a while back that has gingerbread on it , but it tells me Whoops: didnt find expected signature , and when i try to flash the system.img only it tells me FAILED <remote: data length to large> , so do i have to erase the system partition and then try to flash it ?
It sounds like you may be one of the unlucky people who has a phone with a bad eMMC. I strongly recommend before doing anything else you head over the To #G2ROOT IRC
i tryed to flash a different version of clockwork recovery by doing:
fastboot flash recovery \path\to\recovery.img
and it gives me:
writing recovery ...
FAILED <remote:image update error>
wait how can i get there ? can you please give me a link
so i've come to find out after doing the command:
cat /sys/devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:0001/name
in command prompt (adb shell) , i found out i have the M4G2DE eMMC chip , which is the bad one and the good one is SEM04G
yeah I know i'm following the conversation with Ghul. Sucks that some phones have this problem. I'm waiting to receive a new DZ as an insurance replacement and I'm worried that I might be the next unlucky person to have the bad chip
even if this is unfixable thanks for the help , i thought i wasnt gonna get any replies
Happy to help, I'm just sorry I had to the bearer of bad news.
If your still under warranty you should be able to get a replacement. Rooted or not HTC are aware of this problem and you should be able to get a new one.
There is a thread here about the eMMC problem, might be worth asking people about how they went about getting a warranty replacement.
if HTC is aware of this problem i should still be able to get a new G2 , because i honestly have had this phone for more than 30 days and i dont have insurance , but if this is a phone problem then i should be able to still get another one , im just nervous that tmobile might not give me another phone due to root
Hi, I have very similar problem..
HTC Desire Z - fried emmc ('deferred resume failed' message appears..) chip (I have chip known as 'BAD'..). The brick occurred while my phone was s-off, rooted, with custom recovery and custom ROM.. Warranty is still not expired, however probably void due flashing.. I'm pretty sure it's not my fault but the bad chip..
Is there any way to clean up the S-OFF and custom recovery before I'll ask HTC for repair? I afraid they can repair it and ask me for pretty huge amount of money.. Thanks for any suggestions!
K
With a fried emmc, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to perform any operation onto the internal memory without fail. You can try to return it to stock like you normally would but will most likely just end in error.
A fried emmc is unusable as such operations onto it is undoable
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
remote: data length to large
I also used to get <remote: data length to large>, when I bricked my T-Mobile G2 and tried to flash through fastboot.I tried with dozens of PC101MG.zip files.. After hours of experiments I found that PC101MG.zip used for HTC Desire z is too big or whatever for T-Mobile G2, then I found one PC101MG.zip file which was around 100MB and that worked. You better try and find something like that...
Most threads explain about HTC Desire Z, but T-Mobile G2 is different.
Hope this helps
I have the same issue, have you fix it?

Have a big problem: I want to install ZendroKat NAND to my Samsung Wave I. I did the install successfully exactly following the tutorial. With newest Kernel, dvmpatch is not needed any longer, it even causes problems making NovaLauncher crash all the time. Unfortunately, the tutorial did not point this out and so I have only known that when it has already been too late. How to get rid of this patch now??? Okay, I thought, again a full wipe, and then reinstalling without this patch. So far, so good. But reinstall does not work. When formatting the following error message is shown by cwm: E:format_volume failed to umount "/system" and when trying to restore the ZendroKat ROM, it stopped after formatting "/system" and shows "error while restoring /system" as output.
What to do now? Can anybody help? Bada has completely gone, /system is already reformatted - do not know to help myself now....
Try to unplug battery...
Then directly restart to recovery and try again...
Thank you very much! Left it without battery all night and have just succeeded to reflash! Now, all force closes of Nova Launcher have gone and I can try testing ZendroKat!
Help me find a solution with this error
E:format _volume :make_ext4fs failed
on dev/block/mmcblk1kp3
Error while formatting/system
Note: on kernal 4.5,while trying to clean the data
Turn device off by removing battery and boot directly to Recovery...
Format /system, format /data and then try to recover ROM...
Bought new OP5t

Discover trust "get to know to assure how your device is safe"
I don't know what happened if someone could help me if I didn't something wrong please
Hello. Need help is exactly what I need right now. Basically, I just tried flashing Oxygen OS from LineageOS, as I was just getting a little annoyed about how the updates were getting stupid and apps kept crashing. However, when I did this, it got stuck on just a sec when I was setting up. I then tore through the internet looking for how to wipe /data and /data/media with twrp command line. I found out about fastboot erase userdata. I used that. However, it wasn't just the casual wiping of the data where everything goes except the critical files. I mean every single little god damn thing got removed. I tried pulling /data and it said 0 files pulled. I was not happy. I managed to flash the rom but the phone won't boot. the worst part, I tried mounting /data on twrp and it said failed to mount data, invalid argument. So that was that. I then formatted to the original using the twrp format, (needed sighted help for that...) And it succeeded. Now however, I try mounting and it says no such device. 1, how can I mount data? And 2, how can I get a data partition that actually works with setting up and even the booting up of my phone. Yes, it won't boot.
Please help me, you don't believe how annoying it is to have a virtually useless phone.

PS, I was using stock bootloader and twrp recovery. Also, please give the answer of fixing in a command line method, I'm blind so getting sighted help would be rather annoying.

Not being rude, but do you really think no verity is going to help? I mean it usually doesn't fix stuff. Besides, thanks but it's not that it is encrypted, I can flash things if I know their directery, it's just that data can't be mounted. But thanks, I'll try flashing no verity and see what happens.
Many thanks

brad:
It won't mount data for many reasons but just installing stock recovery and installing OOS would fix everything.
