I have the Verizon model, if it matters. Anyway, When I set a ringtone, it plays the whole song at full volume, but when someone calls me, it starts at 0 volume, and climbs up over 5 seconds or so, and I hate that. I don't see an option in sound settings to fix this issue, either. Can someone who DOES have this setting on their phone show me with a screenshot where to find it?

Searched around, can't seem to find a solution to this puzzling problem..
I flashed EnergyROM on my Tilt2, everthing was fine for about 2 weeks. Then, one gloomy day, notifications/alarms just stopped ringing. I get no audio notification when email/sms arrive. Also, when I use the hardware volume buttons on tilt and try to adjust the volume - there is no sound when I do (you know that little "bell" sound when you change volume? it's not there).
Regular windows notification settings are all there, manila's settings are all set (volume is at 100%)..
What still works is ringtones and playing music/videos. Also, I do hear a ringtone when I'm getting a call.
It may be something minor.. any ideas?
I've had this happen on RC2 as well...
After I've put the volume all the way down (vibrate only mode) and then turned the volume back up, none of my notification sounds will play. When I get sms/email the vibrate will go off but not the tone. I've checked Handcent and GMail settings and they both have a tone selected. However, once I get a txt/email, only vibrate no sound. My call ringtones, volume up/down, apps, music..etc works, but no notification.
Anyone help?
Grab Audio Guru from the market. It lists out all the system sound modes and lets you control all six of them individually. I had this happen once and found one of my sound controls set to zero. Used the slider in Audio Guru to increase it to max, problem solved.
Is there a separate setting where I can turn only the notification to vibrate while leaving the phone ringtone on? I receive emails at middle of the night and it always wakes me up. At the same time, I do want incoming calls to wake me up.
Another issue. when I previously switched the phone from vibrate to sound in the notification drawer, it would make a beep noise. But today it doesn't make that sound anymore. Did i disable something somewhere?
Get Silent Time Lite on the market. Allows you to set times to quiet the phone but allow exceptions for the phone. So you can set it to ring for only contacts you highlight.
No idea about your second issue.

Settings > Sounds > Volume > System.
Maybe you put the system sounds volume down?? Hope this helps
I have put the system volume all the way up. The sound came back the day before, and I cannot get it to play again last night after I turned it from vibrate to ring.
Mine did that for a little while too. Fixed itself eventually.
I'm a little surprised that I couldn't find anything on this. My wife and I just got our GS3s a couple days ago and are both of the opinion that the lowest volume setting for both rings and notifications is still way too loud. There needs to be a step between vibrate and the first volume level up. I like my phone to make noise, but I don't want the people in the next cubicle over to really hear it.
For what it's worth, mine is rooted, but stock everything. My wife's is straight stock.
I'm doing a lot of reading up before deciding on a ROM. Does anyone know if any ROMs have finer volume controls?
Thanks for any help.
Only option is settings, sound. Volume, and check what it's set to. I believe you can have your phone sound set to the first level above vibrate but the notification sound can be set to max at all times by accident or something. Just set it to the 1st or 2nd notch and see how it sounds.

Thanks for the reply. They're all set to the lowest level. I still find it to be a bit too loud, though. I think I'll just leave it on vibrate, which is pretty damn loud by itself.
Yeah I think the lowest ringer/notification is way too loud for a cubicle environment.
Would love a solution.
I too find them to be way louder than any of my previous phones with the exact same notification sound. On my HTC is was fine, but now it's way too loud for an office environment.
Is there any apps out there that can adjust this or is it something in the firmware?
Re sample the file.
If the volume is not able to go low enough, try a quieter noise. Or use software to limit the volume of the notification you are currently using. You would just have to find software that will let you manipulate the levels of the audio file then you can save it as a quiet version. If that makes it too quiet for environments outside of work than use one of those apps that automatically select the notification profile during work hours.
Going through the settings I am able to change the sound settings for ringtone, media, notifications, etc. However, after some unknown period of time they get reset to a default state without any user input. This default state includes setting the ringtone at about 80%, which is way too loud. I am trying to set the ringtone to about 20% and want it to stay there. It is a problem because my wife is a schoolteacher. And with the pandemic, she teaches children on Zoom calls, and the loud ringing of my phone disturbs her children's classes. Is there a way to stop the phone from automatically resetting the ringtone to 80% volume? It sounds like a bug in the Samsung One UI. Has anyone else experienced this problem? This is on an Xfinity provided Galaxy S20+ in case that part is relevant.
