Unfortunately I have lost the volume up button. Everything else works though. Now when I try to get into recovery I cannot get past the "No Command" screen. How do I get to recovery?
ADB is probobly your best bet
If you have a running system, install any terminal and enter reboot recovery

Hello all,
My phone's got a wonky vol down button that works about 5% of the time. I've tried the regular power + vol down boot method about 20 times now, but it isn't happening for me.
Battery pull, factory reset, power + home button all failed (suggestions on Google). I've further tried typing su followed by reboot recovery in terminal emulator, nothing at all happens.
There's got to be some other way of forcing the phone to reboot into recovery, right? I think you can also install the Android SDK and force reboot recovery from that, but I'd rather leave that as the very last measure.
I'm running Android Revolution 7.0.3.
Many thanks!
You can use either cwm or 4ext to boot into recovery. There are also a few mods that let you have the 4way boot using the power button (long pressing). Don't know if android R has that mod.
Sent from a dream.
just install clockworkmod or 4ext touch recovery.
In the app you need to install the recovery itself and then you can boot into recovery right from the app.
I don't even use the Power + Volume buttons anymore for it. with 4ext even your touchscreen works in recovery!
Or Quick Boot - free app on play store.
And you can do it if you have adb on your PC from when you rooted, you don't need the full SDK. Depends which tool you used to root, but chances are it has adb.exe and the necessary dll files in that folder.
Just plug the phone in, open a command prompt and cd to the folder with adb.exe. Then type "adb reboot recovery" in the command window.
Quick Boot worked like a charm. Thanks a lot guys!
I tried to root my phone and followed all steps until it asked to boot into the custom recovery and that only displayed a blackscreen and if I tap on the screen the phone vibrated. I cannot boot into bootloader as the phone just automatically tries to enter recovery with blackscreen.
Hold all buttons the phone boots normally and can use the phone as usual.
I've tried to use the adb and fastboot cmds to restore and factory reset but just reboots and tries to enter recovery with the blackscreen.
My device is htc_a51ul if that helps.
Thanks,
Phatzy
Tighten two volume buttons and the power button when you see a black screen and holding down the volume- and power button that would go to zagruzchik.Telefon must be connected to kompyuteru.Esli got to go to the boot loader, boot into download sistemu.Esli not work then you have forgiven stock rekaveri of loader. https://yadi.sk/d/nWnRAChBnEtxG
I think you have flashed a wrong recovery ,first thing to do now is flash stock recovery and whether if it is working fine if so then flash the proper version of twrp 2.8.7.0 is recommended and see if it works
I had the same issue when I first flashed twrp on lollipop but then I did the above and now everything is fine.
while its on the blackscreen only adb commands work. If i try fastboot commands its just waiting for device and phone dont respond. I cannot get into bootloader at all with volume keys or with adb command.
Many thanks for suggestions.
Ok I have now managed to get bootloader back and I can now enter the stock recovery but when I enter recovery it has a red triangle. Is there anyway to remove this?
Thanks.
i'm trying to install a twrp recovery on the Sprint G2, but for some reason i can't and i can't figure out why,
i had 5.0.2 running and i couldn't root it with "one click root",
so i downgraded it to 4.2.2(LS980ZV8) and rooted it with ioroot25,
i installed the twrp-2.8.6.0-ls980 recovery with terminal emulator using the "dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery" command,
it went through fine but i couldn't enter the recovery, it would just normally boot the phone instead of entering recovery,
then i installed the "twrp manager", it wouldn't detect the installed recovery, so i installed it again using the manager (twrp-2.8.7.0-ls980.img),
it went through fine but when it asked me to reboot into recovery it wouldn't reboot after i pressed "yes",
so i tried to do it manually and still couldn't enter it, so i ran the manager again and it doesn't recognize the recovery it just installed, and i can't reinstall it because it gives me an error that "i already have it installed or another error have occurred",
i though that i might need to downgrade the modem but my modem is already v8 and it enters the "download mode" just fine, so i don't know what to do now, it's my first time modding the g2, help please
ok so i just figured out that to enter "factory reset " i need to press "power + volume up" not "power + volume down , release, repeat" like most everybody says,
either way i can get into the factory reset but after pressing the powerbutton 3 times i get a black screen for about a minute before i can boot the phone again,
i used flashify to install the recovery image and it worked
hi
i just unlocked my mi5s now, but when im trying to get into recovery mode (volume up + power) it still shows me the phone picture.
there is something that i am missing?
Flash the recovery, when in fastboot reboot into recovery by "fastboot boot recovery.img" if that's the name of the file on your computer. It will boot into recovery. After that, turn of the phone and boot into recovery with the button combination. Do not boot into the OS as it will disrupt the process! After this you should be fine. If not, try again, as you probably failed to directly boot into recovery with the button action.
Also, do check that you push both the volume keys plus the on/off button. So three in total.

as far as i know, when im unlock the phone, it unlock the recovery mode so i can access it by volume up + power instead of the phone picture.
i want for now stay with the stock recovery and not flash a custom one
Mm, you could use the phrase "fastboot reboot recovery". If that doesn't work, flash the latest Global beta and try again both ways.
If that also doesn't work, recheck if the phone is really unlocked (sometimes Xiaomi phones relock after an update without any good reason).
You could also try to find the stock recovery and use it in the method in my first reply. But keep that for last, as I don't know for sure how that recovery reacts to such a thing. Although I can't think of a reason why it would go wrong, it's better to be save than sorry.
Hi, I recently tried to install twrp on my xiaomi. Everything works fine until I get to the part where you have to reboot into recovery directly from fastboot. Power on/off+volume up doesn't seem to work for me. The only way I can access recovery is by adb reboot recovery. Without the combo working, I can't boot in twrp. Any advice?

Simple!
When u are in fastboot u have to press ONLY power button then when the screen reboot stop push power button and keep pressing ONLY vol+ till u see twrp screen for 2 time!!!
But If u boot into system for wrong u have to ROOT again.
