Hi, I recently tried to install twrp on my xiaomi. Everything works fine until I get to the part where you have to reboot into recovery directly from fastboot. Power on/off+volume up doesn't seem to work for me. The only way I can access recovery is by adb reboot recovery. Without the combo working, I can't boot in twrp. Any advice?

When u are in fastboot u have to press ONLY power button then when the screen reboot stop push power button and keep pressing ONLY vol+ till u see twrp screen for 2 time!!!
But If u boot into system for wrong u have to ROOT again.

it just vibes 3 times and nothing? I can get into Rom Manager recovery but why can't I using regular method???
Rooted today using unrevoked....then load Rom manager 3.0.0.8 made recovery from that and now I can't even boot in the Vol up or down + power?
If you pressed vol + and pwr you put it into debug mode. Pull the battery and then do vol - and pwr, it should boot into the bootloader.
Same issue as the O.P.
I press PWR+VOL DOWN and get it to the screen that shows hboot, recovery, fastboot, etc.... BUT I can't access Recovery AT ALL. The VOL UP & VOL DOWN keys do absolutely nothing.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Found the fix... had to remove the p5 img from the sdcard that was used to root the HTC TB. If you don't remove it, the phone automatically tries to load it.
I'm having this problem too only I can't boot into my phone at all. I loaded nerozehl's latest kernel and can't get back into my phone. It just comes up saying "Process system is not responding." I have the radio on the root of the sdcard but don't know of any way of getting it off.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: And I just remembered that I could do adb reboot recovery. Whoops...
So I may have softbricked my tablet, I was running latest ytab and installed the wrong xposed version, I also had the zip to remove it, but I can no longer boot into recovery. I can boot to download, and standard boot is stuck on splash screen. I've tried adb and fastboot recovery, but neither is recognizing my device in download mode (are they supposed to?). I have odin working with correct drivers. But I haven't been able to reboot to recovery to uninstall xposed. (power,home/volume up isnt working for me)

This worked! Thanks for the help
I tried to root my phone and followed all steps until it asked to boot into the custom recovery and that only displayed a blackscreen and if I tap on the screen the phone vibrated. I cannot boot into bootloader as the phone just automatically tries to enter recovery with blackscreen.
Hold all buttons the phone boots normally and can use the phone as usual.
I've tried to use the adb and fastboot cmds to restore and factory reset but just reboots and tries to enter recovery with the blackscreen.
My device is htc_a51ul if that helps.
Thanks,
Phatzy
Tighten two volume buttons and the power button when you see a black screen and holding down the volume- and power button that would go to zagruzchik.Telefon must be connected to kompyuteru.Esli got to go to the boot loader, boot into download sistemu.Esli not work then you have forgiven stock rekaveri of loader. https://yadi.sk/d/nWnRAChBnEtxG
I think you have flashed a wrong recovery ,first thing to do now is flash stock recovery and whether if it is working fine if so then flash the proper version of twrp 2.8.7.0 is recommended and see if it works
I had the same issue when I first flashed twrp on lollipop but then I did the above and now everything is fine.
while its on the blackscreen only adb commands work. If i try fastboot commands its just waiting for device and phone dont respond. I cannot get into bootloader at all with volume keys or with adb command.
Many thanks for suggestions.
Ok I have now managed to get bootloader back and I can now enter the stock recovery but when I enter recovery it has a red triangle. Is there anyway to remove this?
Thanks.
Its very complicated. My T705's power button was damaged by water. And i flashed Stock MM rom with odin. It was fine after flashing, the tablet boot into the os properly, work very well in the os.
But then i want to wipe the cache and data after that, so i was using the code"adb reboot to recovery" to get into recovery mode because my power button was broken. (I thought it can be using home button to select in recovery mode)
But the nightmare is i can't select anything in recovery mode which requiring a power button. So i can't wipe the cache, also can't select the option to reboot my tablet...... I've tried to hold both the volume down and home key to go to the download mode menu, and select restart by holding volume down, but it go to recovery again even after removing the battery, i think it's because the adb command.
And the strangest thing is i can't use my volume up button in download mode menu, so sadly i can't flash the rom again,:crying: but the volume up is working well in recovery and in the os......
Is there anyway to prevent the tablet to boot into the recovery again? I'm quite sure it's not the problem when flashing MM rom, the problem should be the adb command makes my tablet boot into recovery until i change the boot setting in recovery mode.

If your power button doesn't work how do you turn the device on after removing the battery?

That would only work if you could actually use adb.

Holding vol down + home key can boot to the download mode menu.
But the device will automatically turn on after inserting the battery, no need to press any button, but the device only boot into recovery after i use the adb boot into recovery command.

If that's the case that means the power button is stuck on or you wouldn't be able to power on or boot to Download mode.
All you need to do is flash the stock firmware or twrp and it will reboot back to the OS.
Hopefully I've got your fix:
When you insert the battery your device boots up, if so, insert the battery and press the correct key combo while the splash screen from logo.bin is showing to boot into the download mode.
After that flash TWRP latest version with Odin. Then when your phone again boots to recovery, chose Reboot -> System to boot Android.
---
If the above isn't applicable and you can start Android somehow, I will download either FlashFire or MobileOdin to flash another recovery/ROM.

And don't know why the volume up doesn't work in the download mode menu, stuck in the download mode menu and can't select the option "continue" to go into the download mode

lot of problems can be fixed by samsung k300 tool ,disconect phone and start that tool and connect phone again and let the tool find the phone ,if found just click that icon and phone go to download mode and you can flash back stock firmware...that tool dont need adb enable just working usb cable ,i say working cant be fake...
hi
i just unlocked my mi5s now, but when im trying to get into recovery mode (volume up + power) it still shows me the phone picture.
there is something that i am missing?
Flash the recovery, when in fastboot reboot into recovery by "fastboot boot recovery.img" if that's the name of the file on your computer. It will boot into recovery. After that, turn of the phone and boot into recovery with the button combination. Do not boot into the OS as it will disrupt the process! After this you should be fine. If not, try again, as you probably failed to directly boot into recovery with the button action.
Also, do check that you push both the volume keys plus the on/off button. So three in total.

as far as i know, when im unlock the phone, it unlock the recovery mode so i can access it by volume up + power instead of the phone picture.
i want for now stay with the stock recovery and not flash a custom one
Mm, you could use the phrase "fastboot reboot recovery". If that doesn't work, flash the latest Global beta and try again both ways.
If that also doesn't work, recheck if the phone is really unlocked (sometimes Xiaomi phones relock after an update without any good reason).
You could also try to find the stock recovery and use it in the method in my first reply. But keep that for last, as I don't know for sure how that recovery reacts to such a thing. Although I can't think of a reason why it would go wrong, it's better to be save than sorry.
