Can someone confirm that the regular T-Mobile M8 has both VoLTE and LTE-A capability? I'm pretty sure it has both (esp LTE-A), but I'd really appreciate it if someone could just confirm that? I know I have to wait for T-Mobile to send the new update to get LTE-A, so still waiting, but I want to know it's capable of LTE-A. I think VoLTE is already enabled, but it's only enabled in Chicago, and I live 30 min away (don't have it here). Tomorrow I will be in downtown to see Interpol, and will check it then.
Please let me know!
Thanks,

Don't know about LTE-A but VoLTE is not activated. My Note 3 worked in my area and the M8 falls back to 4G for voice calls. Waiting for updates.

Im in Dallas and can also confirm VoLTE is not active / enabled on the phone.
My Note 3 has it working but its not my daily phone, my M8 is my daily phone.
Looking forward to the 4.4.3 update as it shows system and network performances, along with WiFi and BT.

Hi Phil,
I've seen on different sites that the M8 has the capability for at least LTE-A). Ok, that is interesting to know. My cousin has a Note 3 and lives closer to Chicago than I do and he has VoLTE now (4G LTE during calls). My area (Chicago suburbs) doesn't, yet. He said though after his Note 3 update recently seemed to give him VoLTE and because he uses Chicago towers he gets VoLTE now.
I'm gonna try my M8 tomorrow when I'm in downtown and hopefully it stays at 4G LTE. We'll see. But probably will have to wait for update to get VoLTE. A T-Mobile rep just told me that there is NO LTE-A in the U.S. for T-Mo as of the present time.
I'll post here on Thursday saying if I got VoLTE in the city or not. If not, then gotta wait for update. As of right now, only these T-Mo phones have VoLTE for sure:
•Samsung Galaxy S5
•Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N900)
•Samsung Galaxy Light (T399)
•LG G Flex
RockStar2005
Yep, I live in Burr Ridge, and currently have a LG Flex, and I have VoLTE
Dont think it made that much of a difference, but my phone/TMO connection has always been fantastic here, so I dont care one way or the other about it; I am switching to a M8 in 2 weeks, so I hope there isnt a big difference in performance
Just bought the LG G3 after having an OnePlus One for about 3 months. It's a good phone, but doesn't seem to have quite as good of reception as my Unlocked, but AT&T branded S 4 did. So I decided upgrading to a T-Mobile LG G3 might not only give me better reception, but wifi calling which I was anxious to have the option to use.
The LG G3 is pretty great. Doesn't seem to have the OnePlus One's battery life, but it could be that I've only FULLY charged it two or three times yet, and been using it a LOT during the day while setting it up. Haven't totally drained the battery in a single day yet, but I don't seem to have quite the battery life the OnePlus One had.
Anyway, after having some trouble loading web sites, and sending text messages, I thought maybe I should update the phone software. Not looking for Lollipop, I just wanted the latest version of the T-Mobile software for the Soft White D851. The LG site says D85110r is the latest and greatest, and I only have D85110m. So I tried the OTA updates, and it says I'm up to date. I then called T-Mobile, who had me clear my phone cache, and if OTA didn't pull R, they told me to call LG. Just spent 20 minutes on the phone with LG, 15 minutes of it on hold. They didn't know how to make the update available for my phone, and when their own LG update tool told me I had the latest version (while using M), and not R like their website suggested, they promised to look into it, call T-Mobile for more information, and get back to me in 3 hours.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but with the data issues I'm having, and those seemingly having been addressed with a patch, obviously I'd like the new $500 phone to work at LEAST as well as the $350 phone that didn't have any trouble, just didn't have Wifi Calling, since T-Mobile doesn't sell a OnePlus One as "their" version of the device with T-Mobile Wifi Calling software included.
If anyone can comment on if R has helped them, and if you weren't getting it at first, what you did to get the update... it would be greatly appreciated. I heard a rumor in another thread that some stores were getting a lollipop update earlier today. That would be cool too, but I'm just trying to fix Kit Kat, before worrying about a whole new OS.
D85110R seem to be still in the rollout process. I just got it this week. I'm not aware of any major issues that it fixes, but I haven't had any significant issues.

I am still waiting on R also.
Thanks guys. It seems odd that more than a month after release, you can't just download this update onto any LG G3 that needs it. And my purchasing the phone for wifi calling would imply I'd like wifi to work well on the phone.
That said, the battery has been showing much longer life today, and I do like the phone. Just don't wanna wait past my 14 days, update, and have a problem ya know?
Cheers.
The M software build has WiFi calling too. Did you check your settings? The R update fixed some minor connection problems and enabled in-flight texting. Check the tmo website https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-11935
I also have the OnePlus One, but had to get the G3 when the screen shattered. I also had 10m firmware but could not auto update to 10r. I finally gave in and downloaded the flashable zip and installed through recovery. Frankly, I could not see and added improvements on daily usage.

The r that I got was 200 or so meg. I would say that is it. It's strange I live in a small town and I got the update months ago.
I had the updating issue too.. and the LG tool was saying my firmware was up to date on m.
The way I fixed it was going to the LG tool , going to Options then Upgrade Recovery, now I have D85110R yay!
I updated (and rooted) through TWRP.
Don't update to R if you want to disable 2G.

Disable 2G? How does that work exactly?? It blocks the downgrade to 2g and uses 4g only even if you run out of data?
I just got the update just now at 5am after waiting over a month too. It was definitely a very slow roll out. Even a week after it was released it still would not update even using the LG software tool. Anyways I am excited for it since I was having some very brief data connections. Also excited for in flight texting too!

phone information, which can access network mode to LTE/WCDMA, is disabled.
GPRS = 2G
WCDMA/HSPA = 3G/4G
LTE = 4GLTE
I just tryed that code got this
Why would you want to disable 2G. Disabling it would cause you to not have any service if you were in an area without 3G/4G or 4GLTE.

I can understand that but if you were out in the country somewhere that only had 2G and you had disabled it on your phone then you would have no service

Yes, I can confirm that VoLTE and WiFi calling doesn't work on EE.
On Three you can probably use their app for VoLTE and WiFi calling (if you are not rooted).
Hi there. I can connect to the 800MHz LTE on the Three network, however there is no option for me to use native VoLTE or VoLTE via their InTouch app at all.
I doubt we'll see VoLTE natively on this device, but there may be a chance that a future update to inTouch would let it work there, but damn I hate their app.

You can use this app to see your signal type: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wilysis.cellinfolite
Or use the dialer and use *#*#4636#*#* to view additional signal information.
It's somewhat of a guessing game also. I only get LTE signal here if its 800MHz as they recently rolled it out.
I have LTE on Three, but not VoLTE.
I also hate their awful app.

I'm trying to get VoLTE working with 3 on my OP3 too. From what I can tell, we need the APN settings for the 3 IMS APN. Damned if I can find these listed anywhere though. If somebody has an official 3 phone with working VoLTE then we can copy it off there.
I'm wondering if the Enhanced 4G voice option will show in settings when a compatible APN is detected? Other people seem to have VoLTE working on their OP3 (looking at posts on xda), but I'm not sure if they're using the stock rom or not.
The issue is that EE/Three really have no incentive to support the OP3 because they don't sell it.
Same goes for all UK networks none of them will enable VoLTE on the OnePlus 3
Just want to bump this thread as 3G coverage is rubbish around my home area. For some reason I only get 4G and am not able to get 3G. I have to use the Three In touch app to even receive calls
I'm interested too. My wife and I are both on three UK. She gets VoLTE on her Xiaomi Mi5 Pro but I don't see any options at all on my OP3

How do you get VoLTE on that? According to gsmarena it doesn't support band 20, and as far as I know Three only has VoLTE on band 20? It would be interesting if you could let me know if a) Three are now running VoLTE on band 3 too, or b) It actually does support band 20. Here's the gsmarena page: http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_5-6948.php
Thanks!
I've no idea. We were just sat in a pub and she asked me what the VoLTE in the status bar meant. Sure enough the icon was there and she gets it quite often
If you're on EE you probably won't get VoLTE; they're having trouble supporting the S7 so the OnePlus 3 is pretty much a lost cause. I know that kinda sucks for you guys on the better performing network
Three are more likely to; they support a lot more phones on VoLTE and are generally a lot more Android friendly than EE (EE always release Android updates very late, and everything is given to iPhones first).
But I'm obviously just guessing here, until VoLTE is more mature in the UK it's likely VoLTE support will be the complete mess it is now with only major phones getting it.
Hope that helped

why would you want 3g if you can get 4g ?
Last time I checked with Three they told me that only some phones approved/sold by them support VoLTE.
A few months ago they whitelisted the Oneplus 2 to use VoLTE though their app. The Oneplus 3 is not supported yet (not sure if it will be in the future).
Sorry. If you don't know voLTE (on the three network) only works on 800mhz, which only works on 3 carrier bought phones. 3G is the only way you can call apart from that, and as I already said, my area does not have 3G coverage.
4g calling now works on 3.5.2 on EE

Has anyone noticed the ridiculously slow upload speeds of the pixel phones? I'm getting paltry upload numbers on two separate pixels. Any other Android OR iOS device is killing the upload numbers 3 to 1.
Is this a bug or hardware?
You'll have to give us a little more info here buddy.
Are you referring to Wifi? LTE? What Carrier? Are the phones on the same LTE bands?
I can tell you that on Verizon, I get fantastic Upload speeds on-par with my old Note 7. Normally 30-40Mb/s.
I can also tell you that if you are in an area running VZW's LTE Band 2, Upload sucks on that band. I suspect it's running a different slot assignment in the TDMA structure to prioritize download. Whenever I land on it, My upload speed is ~7Mb/s, But the download is blazing (100+Mb/s) depending on if you're in an area running Carrier Aggregation.
This was specifically about wifi. The wifi was tested in several different places on different networks.

I'm able to get >400Mb/s on upload tests here at our office (Engineer for an ISP). Seems to be inline with my old note 7.
I will agree however, The update they released (Got it ten minutes after I booted the phone up for the first time) supposedly fixed wifi issues.

My VZW Pixel XL is on NDE63P (Build number at the bottom of phone status).
Do you have the VZW variant, Or the Direct from google Variant?
If it's the VZW variant, See if you can borrow a SIM from someone to get the update. Even if the sim it came with is unprovisioned, It might get you on the network enough to grab the update via wifi.
Yeah I do. I'm wondering if it will continue to get updates of I don't have a version SIM. That's a whole other problem now I guess. I'm going to do that and at least see if the problem of speed corrects itself. Anyone know what the build of the Google version is?
So.. Funny thing happened. I put the Verizon SIM in and I received the update instantaneously. Interesting. Looks like you do not get updates with another carrier's SIM in the Verizon model. I'm thinking that it's not really unlocked then. Super Shady Verizon with that commercial stating "Only on Verizon" and now this.
Anyway.. I'm off to testing the upload now with the update.

I suggest you call your carrier, let them know you have the newest latest Pixel and would like them to reprovision your line, explain to them it's slow.

This is probably why I get the regular 5G icon and speeds equivalent to LTE. Looking forward to certification...
Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not yet 'fully certified' to use Verizon's faster C-Band 5G
While the hardware is compatible, Verizon says the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro aren't quite ready for C-Band 5G, lacking "full certification."

I can see LAX from my back porch....not sure what 5g I would get near my house at this point
Yeah, that sucks. I hope they figure it out.
Will they be fully certified at some point?
There's nothing to certify. Verizon is full of crap.
The phone doesn't support the band yet and it won't until at least the February update. This is also why AT&T's C-Band doesn't work.

I think Verizon takes the longest out of the other US carriers to certify phones, but I wonder if Google was put to the back of the line as they were dealing with bug fixes. I dunno
This is just unacceptable whoever's fault it is. I pay for the highest tier Verizon plan and with the FAA delaying c band for 6 weeks should have given Verizon / Google enough time to certify the Pixel 5/6/6 Pro. I'm so annoyed about this and I live in an area where it is super congested and there isn't that much mmwave.
I don't know how Verizon does everything, but I can speak to their excellent obsessive-compulsiveness with regard to tower/radio management.
Spoiler: Story
In the USA, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint (before they merged), and American Tower all use(d) the same software to track maintenance/management of their cellular equipment out in the field, which is what ultimately provides service to their customers--the radios, towers, etc. Verizon was quite particular, however. They wanted things almost completely customized, just for them. Things already WERE customized for each of those clients, but Verizon wanted more. They gladly paid for it. All along their long process of "we want to make absolutely sure that this rollout works flawlessly", they even called us out on a very minor web server issue. It wasn't the fancy and expensive software we were customizing even further, it wasn't the databases customized for them, it wasn't the servers customized for them, it wasn't anything you'd expect--it was the website server software and how a particular URL was being parsed. I listened and silently agreed that it was an issue to be corrected. I spoke up, in private, having done some website management for myself, and referenced the RFC (100% coincidence with regard to my name), but I was really impressed by how particular Verizon was being. Interestingly, the other four clients didn't notice, didn't care, or were fine with it. Verizon insisted that it be corrected and changed. It wasn't always easy to do what they asked, from what I understood, but they paid for it, so it was done and everyone was salaried so they worked long and hard. As far as I know, Verizon's requests were never something which was considered a regression or a step in the wrong direction, it was just difficult and/or time-consuming. It was always them wanting things, however minor or major, to be even better than they already were, if possible; if there was an additional price for that change/improvement, they paid it. Having the best software in the world to manage their equipment wasn't good enough for them--they nit-picked and found ways to make it even better.
Verizon may be slow to do some things, and as a customer of Verizon's it does bug me at times, but less so these days. Things like the Pixel 5/6 c-band waiting and some other "this newly-released phone isn't yet certified even though it's 100% compatible" stuff used to be MUCH more commonplace about 5-10 years ago, but now a brand new phone typically works on release day. However, there's a reason they tout being "America's most reliable network". The stuff that's done behind the scenes is meticulously done. I learned to respect Verizon from a more technical and obsessive-compulsive viewpoint after comparing and contrasting the things I knew of and phone calls I was in on. I think all cellular providers have great service. My personal choice will always be Verizon (I used Verizon since 2001, and now Visible since 2019), and I'm happy to wait for c-band "certification" on the Pixel 6, whatever that entails. We'll probably get c-band in one of the coming monthly Android updates, and may even go back to a "VZW-specific" image instead of the unified ones we just switched to.
