I just Google'd N910VVRU2BPA1 because I honestly forgot. It looks like it's 5.1.1.
That said, if you're looking to unlock and root, you''ll need to basically root, unlock, install a safe version of MM, and again root & unlock, BEFORE you can install any ROMs.
this thread has everything in it and provides you with links to other threads on how to unlock. - https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...t/howto-bootloader-unlock-upgrade-to-t3398144
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN!
Yeah. Thank you. Now I have unlocked my new bootloader cpd1 with 6.0.1 version. Before I had bpa1 based 6.0.1

Yesterday I updated my ROOTED Lollipop to the latest build 5.1.1 , but after the update I lost the root , so I tried to root it again with iRoot program , but I got this error message :
Error: only position independent executables (PIE) are supported
Then I tried many many of rooting apps but still facing the same problem and getting the same error !!
I looked for this issue, and I found some sort of fixes but I couldn't understand anything, because I'm not an Android expert.
So can you please give me a solution because I need my device to be rooted. And with an easy and simplest way please !
Device : Sony Xperia Z1 COMPACT
Model Number : D5503
Android version : 5.1.1
Kernel version : 3.0.4-perf-g4fd66c3
Device build number : 14.6.A.0.368
In short: Flash back to an earlier version (using Flashtool), root it, install NUT's XZ dual recovery, flash a pre-rooted ZIP of LP 5.1.1 (you find some here on xda), and enjoy your rooted android

Thanks for the reply .. For curiosity, can you please explain to me what means this error and why it exist , as I read it was since 4.1.1 , and personally I didn't face it when I updated android to 5.0.2.
Mainly it attempts to unlocked bootloaders. but there is a workaround for the error, so if you had still installed a running recovery the whole backflash was useless
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/fix-bypassing-pie-security-check-t2797731
Originally it was written for nexus and motorola devices, but it fixed my Z1C too, so i guess its not devicebound
I want to ask a thing:
I'm on latest 5.1.1 and want to root.
I think that flashing kernel only of previous (5.0.2) root and then flash a recovery can help me.
It's true? Because if I can root in that way:
I have the full ftf file of 5.0.2 version...how can I flash kernel only of 5.0.2 from flashtool?
Someone can tell me which options I have to check and which don't on flashtool to flash only kernel?
Or can post me a link to a kernel only ftf of 5.0.2 for italian firmware or CE1 ?
My question is, does it matter what bootloader version you are on for a custom rom?
Far as if I am on MM Rom (Jasmine 6/7), do I need to be on MM bootloader version or LL bootloader for LL Rom? I know I need to be MM bootloader to even be on MM ROM, but do you understand what I am asking? Do I need to be on LL bootloader for LL ROM and MM bootloader for MM ROM?
Can I be on MM bootloader and have LL ROM?
The reason I ask is I am on the MM bootloader and have Jasmine v7 installed and my camera works just fine. But I want to go back to Jasmine 4.3 (LL), but when I install it again on MM bootloader, the camera is blurry.
The only way to fix the blurry camera is to install official firmware or MM rom such as Jasmine 6/7, or even official LL firmware.
I have no problem starting the whole process of unlocking the nite 4 since I've already done it a dozen times now. But while at work was wondering if anybody had an answer other then what I am doing.

If you're on a Marshmallow bootloader you can only use ROMs that are based on the Marshmallow bootloader. Jasmine 6.0 and up are examples of such ROMs. Paul Pizz and CM13 from 6/22 up are too. (Yeah, I know, so is the 6/20 version but that was so buggy that I don't even count it.)
Jasmine 4.3 and below were based on Lollipop bootloaders and need a Lollipop bootloader to work properly.
Yeah, the ROMs may partially work if you cross them up. But they won't be usable, with the big problem being data and the lack of.

Good Evening, Everyone,
I just bought a used SGH-i747M 4.4.2 i747MVLUFOB3 3.4.0-1784548 [email protected]" BUILD KOT49H.I747MVLUFOB
Seller said It was on Koodo.
Might I ask you a few questions ?
1) Are there advantages to flash Rogers radio as I'm on Rogers ?
2) What is the newest Rom (Lollipop ? Marshmallow ?) that you have been using Without-Losing the Stock driver to enable the use of a MHL Cable (I have one) ? MHL means: USB->HDMI .
3) Any steps you feel I should know before ? Ok, immediately flash TWRP, then Full backup with TWRP.
Any signed TWRP flashable with stock recovery ?
4) Flashing this will Unlock the Provider ? Rogers' modem: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/modem-4-4-2-modems-i747-i747m-t2856577
Thank you All.
Flash the latest stock ROM from Sam mobile which can be found here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-I747M/RWC/
Rogers, bell, and telus all use the same bootloader and modem. The only difference between the carrier firmware is some app customisation included with each ROM.
Kit kat is the last official ROM.
Once the phone is running the latest bootloader and modem, you can flash twrp to install a custom ROM.

Hello together,
I'm currently using AlexisROM (Android 10) and want to try Noble ROM (Android 11) on my Galaxy S9 (G960F). On the how-to theres a point regarding kernel and bootloader: "4. Update your MODEM AND BOOTLOADER BEFORE INSTALLING THIS ROM".
Can someone explain me what that mean in detail for my S9? How can I find the latest Bootloader and Kernel?
My current software details:
Baseband: G960FXXUFFUE1
Kernel: 4.9.118-21637096
Build: AR2.7.1_G960FXXUFFUE1
Thanks in advanced.
Chris
The modem ( CP ) and bootloader ( BL ) comes with your firmware
If your on latest stock firmware then you have the latest version of everything
If on a different rom then flash latest stock rom

Thanks for your reply. I will do that.
Assume that the manufacturer no longer provides firmware updates. Assuming the last update came along with Android 10.
Can I also install newer, custom ROMs with this latest Android (e.g. with Android 11 or soon also Android 12) or what must then be done to ensure that the latest BL and CL are in place?

Samsung devices i believe only get two majors updates to the OS ie: 8 ( original )-9-10. So android version 10 will be the latest that you get, any updates after that will be minor and security.
As for customs roms you will have to look in the rom section for more information.
The latest firmware is G960FXXUGFUG4 ( android 10 ). If you do a full flash you will have to start from scratch again. ie: unlock bootloader, flash twrp etc
