Yesterday I updated my ROOTED Lollipop to the latest build 5.1.1 , but after the update I lost the root , so I tried to root it again with iRoot program , but I got this error message :
Error: only position independent executables (PIE) are supported
Then I tried many many of rooting apps but still facing the same problem and getting the same error !!
I looked for this issue, and I found some sort of fixes but I couldn't understand anything, because I'm not an Android expert.
So can you please give me a solution because I need my device to be rooted. And with an easy and simplest way please !
Device : Sony Xperia Z1 COMPACT
Model Number : D5503
Android version : 5.1.1
Kernel version : 3.0.4-perf-g4fd66c3
Device build number : 14.6.A.0.368
In short: Flash back to an earlier version (using Flashtool), root it, install NUT's XZ dual recovery, flash a pre-rooted ZIP of LP 5.1.1 (you find some here on xda), and enjoy your rooted android

Thanks for the reply .. For curiosity, can you please explain to me what means this error and why it exist , as I read it was since 4.1.1 , and personally I didn't face it when I updated android to 5.0.2.
Mainly it attempts to unlocked bootloaders. but there is a workaround for the error, so if you had still installed a running recovery the whole backflash was useless
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/fix-bypassing-pie-security-check-t2797731
Originally it was written for nexus and motorola devices, but it fixed my Z1C too, so i guess its not devicebound
I want to ask a thing:
I'm on latest 5.1.1 and want to root.
I think that flashing kernel only of previous (5.0.2) root and then flash a recovery can help me.
It's true? Because if I can root in that way:
I have the full ftf file of 5.0.2 version...how can I flash kernel only of 5.0.2 from flashtool?
Someone can tell me which options I have to check and which don't on flashtool to flash only kernel?
Or can post me a link to a kernel only ftf of 5.0.2 for italian firmware or CE1 ?

I also believe that if I update my root will be lost, is that true ?
If I update will I loose my data too?
Updating through flash tool and all what does that mean ?
What is pre-rooted kernal ?
Thanks in Advance

1. TRUE
2. YES
3. Bcoz flashtool is the only one way to flash this new fw, we just have ftf file at the moment.
4. pre-rooted kernel give u root permission so that you don't have to wait for the rooted firmware image (.img file)

So in the Development section we have a pre-rooted kernal with the new update, does it mean if we update it to that kernal we not only get a new kernal but also will have an updated firmware with superuser ?
Or it's just a kernal that's compatible with the new 4.0 firmware update ?

You partly right, this prerooted kernel (DoomLoRD kernel, correct me if i'm wrong) is based on the kernel of new firmware 4.0.A.2.368, so theoretically, you can use the lastest firmware with root permission based on this kernel

A 2nd kernel has been posted because Doomlord's has issues with CPU speed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202479

As for rooting, OP can't install a pre-rooted (insecure/rootable) kernel because OP can't unlock the bootloader because OP has a carrier-branded arc. Therefore OP will not be able to have 4.0.A.2.368 rooted (yet).

If a stock Lollipop update was available (maybe in Poland, but I think that is the only place currently), then this might apply to you. It seems that you might be able to root the 5.0 ROM, but you would most definitely lose Bump and the ability to flash a custom recovery or ROM.
Any Lollipop ROM that is being floated around the forums already has a kernel that has been modified and rooted. It does not apply in those cases.
Can anyone confirm that it's working?:good:
I have an LG G3 D85520E version with stock Android - 5.0 Lollipop.AS NEW in rooting process I have spent hole day searching in XDA other forums and googling for specific steps , tools and links how root a stock Android - 5.0 Lollipop with no results. So many tools so many options i am so confused and the last thing i want is a non working phone. In threads i saw people asking same questions how to do this and that assuming i am not the only with such questions .SO is there a specific guide (or better a youtube video)how root a Stock Android - 5.0 Lollipop in a never rooted LG G3?Thanks in advance.
LG G3 Stock Android 5.0 root is not possible. Sorry, my english is bad.

No. 2.8.0.0 works fine.
Can someone give me the Android 4.4.3 Kitkat Firmware 19.1.1.A.0.165 Global Version? I need it please not rooted version just Global and default version.
I'm gonna try to root it by Flashing whole 4.4.3 ftf then flash 4.4.2 kernel then root with EasyRoot kit. After that I will flash the 4.4.3 kernel back. Is it gonna work??? Is system apps now modifiable?? Like modded Playstore. In Pre-rooted stock 4.4.3 Modded Playstore does not work because of system apps restriction and cannot be modified. Even it is rooted so I want to know if this method will work. Please give me the the Android 4.4.3 Kitkat Firmware 19.1.1.A.0.165 Global Version ftf file. Thank you!

It will not work. I've tested it on my D5303.
Is there any way to make it work? Its sad to be just like that. I need root access to system apps.
Is there any other way to make it work to modify system apps???
Dear Bro,
You can try with Pre Rooted firmware PRF Creator tool. I have not tested but I think you should try. You know, each try tells us "this is not a perfect method"
yes it's gonna work
many tried this, just read the forum
but 4.4.2 it's needed
where to find 4.4.2 rom and kernel stock?
with experifilms I can download only the last rev...
Hi,
I have an Xperia M5 E5603 which is currently build number 30.2.A.0.100 (Marshmallow 6.0) and want to downgrade it to Lollipop 5.1 or Kitkat.
I've used Xperifirm which is showing Latest Firmware build 30.2.A.1.21 - but I'm not sure which version of Android this is?
Can someone please help with the files I need to downgrade UK version? (not central EU, specifically UK)
Thanks!

Thanks! I got the 5.1 Nordic Generic firmware for this particular model and am on the Flashtool download page. I just want to check something so I don't brick the phone:
"C4 and C5 users please do not flash using Flashtool. It will brick the device. M5 users please do use FSC when flashing or it will brick your device."
What does this mean by FSC? Should I use the latest flashtool, are there any additional steps I need to take??
Thanks for the help
