Dear XDA forum members,
I've been experiencing this issue with incoming calls from a specific number since the upgrade to Android 8.0 (Oreo):
(this is a quote from my post on the Google productforums)
Hi all,
I've been experiencing a weird problem with my LG Nexus 5X phone. Let me explain:
When I dial my mobile phone number on my company's internal phones, I hear a dial tone on the line but drops after two 'rings'. With no redirect to voicemail. The phone itself does not ring, there is no trace of the call.
There is no problem when I call from a fixed residential or mobile phone.
Troubleshooting steps:
I work for a telecom provider myself, we checked the RAN and see paging going out to the handset, the handset responds to this paging. We then see the 'ALERTING' phase which means the call is in fact routed to the handset.
I then switched my SIM card to an iPhone and another Android phone, the problem does not occur with these handset.
So I tried a factory reset of my Nexus 5X, this didn't solve the problem.
Afterwards, I did another factory reset, but then set up the phone as a new phone instead of restoring a back-up. This also didn't solve the problem.
The phone was on Android version 8.0.0 (OPR4.170623.009, Oct 2017), I flashed it to Android 7.1.2 (N2G48C, Aug 2017), and the calls were working again!
I also forced the handset on 2G, but this also doesn't solve the problem.
I then flashed the handset again to the latest Android 8.0.0 (OPR6.170623.023, Nov 2017) release, but the problem occurs again. This time, I noticed that when the call is made from our company's internal phones, my cell phone's signal goes away and comes back up a few seconds later. So it seems that the radio crashes. I've attached a log of the radio made with 'adb logcat -b radio'. I also added the relevant crash log.
I've also tested this with a colleague who has the Nexus 5X. The problem also occurs on his handset.
When calling my brother who currently lives in the States (and also has a 5X), the problem does not occur.
Thanks in advance,
Ruben

The thing I've been wondering, would it be possible to flash the radio image of the stock 7.1.2 (N2G48C, Aug 2017) version on a system & bootloader image that runs version 8.0.0 (OPR6.170623.023, Nov 2017)?
So basically, use the radio software of Android 7 on an Android 8 system. Could this break anything? Otherwise I'd figure I just test this...
Thanks in advance!

It is perfectly fine to do this. Just flash and see which gives you better dBm signal and data speeds.

Thanks for the answer! I flashed the radio-bullhead-m8994f-2.6.37.2.21 image, but the issue isn't resolved.
Guess I'll have to wait for Google to fix this.

For a couple of months now i have had problems answering a call when i'm already on a call. I will be on the phone, and i will attempt to answer the incoming, second call and all i hear is static for several seconds, then both lines go silent and i loose both calls. I have tried two different roms, AOKP and CM10, and both seem to suffer from the issue. I broke down and called VZW and the tech told me i had an old baseband i515.09V.FK01 /i515.fk02 (version 9 in the techs words). SO the first thing he wanted to do was try the new baseband of i515.10 (Version 10). I have tried to download the latest 4.2.2 radios from two different sticky threads here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32317076&postcount=5
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890585
Both have 4.2.2 JDQ039 radio zips, and i have flashed both zip files from CWM and neither one updates the baseband to version 10 from version 09, or at least if they do it doesn't show anything different in the "ABout Phone" screen in CM10. So i have two questions.
1 - How do i update the Baseband to version 10?
2 - Has anyone else experienced issues switching/anwsering a call on call waiting? How were you able to resolve ti or did you just continue to put up with it?
Thank you in advance for your help.
I could be wrong, but I think 09 is the latest..
My wife and I both have SM-A520W phones. I OTA upgraded mine while travelling in Europe (risky, I know) and didn't have any issues with it. I waited til we returned to upgrade hers, and since upgrading, she has been unable to maintain a WiFi connection beyond a number of minutes, e.g. 5-30 minutes.
I downgraded her phone to Nougat (A520WVLS2BRD2 / A520WOYA2BRD2) using Odin, and things returned to normal. When the July 1st patch (A520WVLU2CRF2 / A520WOYA2CRF2) for Oreo was released I tried upgrading it again over the air, and the WiFi issues returned. Unfortunately after upgrading to this version, I can no longer use Odin to downgrade to Nougat, as it results in a "kernel rev check fail device 1 binary 0" even if I don't load the bootrom. I tried doing a fresh load with Odin of the latest Oreo release as well, but the issue persists.
Any suggestions on either how to downgrade to Nougat, or resolve the WiFi issues on her phone? It seems surprising to me that one phone works fine, and the other one fails repeatedly on the same network and carrier (Freedom). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi. I have the same problem. Were you able to resolve the issue?
Unfortunately not in any way that will be helpful. Took the device to an authorized Samsung repair place, they ran diagnostics, and then offered to swap the main board. They did that, and everything has been fine since.

Could have been a software bug. Personally, I would have got a new phone rather than getting a new motherboard.
Hello
I want to bring up an issue that started a week after the latest security update I received (WW_ZS620KL_90.11.162.50_20190326). I am helpless with this issue.
ISSUE
SIM card network fluctuation
Every minute or so the sim card networks go down and after that, the phone says that there is no sim card inserted.
After a couple of minutes that signals are restored and this happens again.
This sometimes makes the phone restart abruptly.
I didn't find ways to reproduce this but it happens every now and then.
THINGS I TRIED
Downgrade to the stock version.
Factory Reset.
Turn off Dual VoLTE.
Nothing worked

I rarely have this issue too. It has only happened around 2 times this month. But it can depend on the provider as well.
I got a low signal in a very specific building in my area.
I use only one sim and micro sd card.
I have observed this issue when 2 SIMs of same network are used. I'd recommend you to walk in to the nearest service centre as downgrading and data wipe has not worked for you. I don't think any further resolution can be provided on xda.
This seems to be a sub-standard quality issue, please visit the nearest service centre and ask for assistance and try to get your handset replaced.

It is happening with some users of Zenfone 5z, even with myself.
It must be an error of using Android 9.
Maybe in newers updates, it would works
i face the issue where my 4g network disconnect and get back connected after 5 seconds..
Sent from my Asus Zenfone 5Z using XDA Labs
I have no network at all.
I have flashed LineageOS on a Honor 5X. Everything is working perfectly fine except receiving text messages. It's possible to receive and make phone calls. Also it is possible to send text messages.
The same SIM card receives text messages in a different smartphone without a problem. For testing purposes I have tried it with a other SIM card. However it's the same behaviour, not working in the Honor 5X but in the other smartphone. The issue with receiving texts only started on the Honor 5X since flashing LineageOS.
The vendor Congstar says that it must have to do with the smartphone. Also if I send a text to the smartphone using "*T#" it says that the text message was saved but there is a problem with the end device.
Via *#*#4636#*#* I have checked the SMSC. It says the correct number = "+491710760000", 145. The only thing I am bit confused about what the 145 stands for. If I try to change it and remove the 145 it says update error.
Currently the LineageOS version from 10.1.2020 is installed. The first version was from 23.12.2019.
I have looked and tried through several settings. Also I roughly looked through the logs but I find it tricky as it hard to find out without exactly knowing what to look for.
This is the 6th phone that I flashed LineageOS on and I never had these issues before. Therefore I am stuck and running out of ideas. Could it be a bug?
Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to hopefully provide all the needed info. Thanks for any more ideas/help!
I could solve it. For anyone interested I needed to do a wipe (factory reset) via TWRP. After booting LineageOS again and completing the initial setup process it was ok again.
Same issue

I had the same issue on the same device (nightly 20200121). I tried the same solution and it worked.
Hi
Having flashed the latest v16 nightly everything seems good apart from speaker & mic when making or receiving calls. (No sound either in or out)
Of the three possible reasons I've found the first two do not fix it, these being generic problems with google voice settings and a bug in build.prop within the system folder. I also read somewhere that it may be down to which stock ROM was being used previously (G900FDXXS1CQD1_G900FDOXE1CQA4_G900FDXXU1CQA4_HOME.tar) which was the latest 6.01 Russian build as the handset was Russian in origin.
If anyone has a SM-G900FD running v16 working in calls I would appreciate you posting the firmware build you were previously running or any other suggestions.
Thanks........
I have the same problem. no sound in voice call in g900fd.

Been looking since, nothing out there.
They probably don't test the DUOS builds as much cos most people have the G900F

From what I can gather the devs do not have a G900FD to test on and this problem crept into the next build after
lineage-16.0-20190910-nightly-klteduos-signed.zip
Basically you need root and then edit /system/build.prop
look for line ro.multisim.audio_follow_default_sim=false
change false to true
save and reboot.
Fixed the problem for me although I've now noticed another issue whereby designating the data SIM from slot 2 to slot 1 limits network speed to Edge. Only way to get 3 or 4g is to physically swap them over
there are also others reporting this problem, hope it gets sorted.
RESOLVED SM-G900FD (Galaxy S5 DUOS)
[RESOLVED]
I hope this works for others as well.
For me it worked, first I got tired of it and went back to stock Android 6.0.1 to check if its hardware related problem or software issue. I got cleared that my earpiece and mic works well with stock. Then I reflashed the TWRP using Heimdall (Previously I did it using ODIN). Flashed <lineage-16.0-20200419-nightly-klteduos-signed.zip> using ADB (Previously I did it by copying it on Phone memory) and Installed GAPPS as well using ADB file <open_gapps-arm-9.0-full-20200523.zip> (Previously flashed them after copying into phone memory).
Problems faced this time:
1- Boot loop (Mistake: accidentally gave permission to install TWRP application). Don't allow that just reboot normally.
2- Got issue while setting up GAPPS Mini bundle so I jumped to full apps. It worked for me this time. (FOR This repeated whole process again)
So far working well.
Calling sound can be heard on Loud Speaker and Earpiece as well. [ RESOLVED For me]
Hardware and Build details:
SM-G900FD Snapdragon Version
Build installed: linage_klteduos-userdebug 9 PQ3A.190801.002 edf6d6620b
PS: I'm a newbie can't post links to the files used
Hi, mine was UAE build and it worked for me by using ADB and Heimdall to flash Recovery and ROM (Previously I was flashing recovery using ODIN and ROM by copying it into the phone memory. Check my other reply in the same post for further details I hope it works for you as well. If it does please leave a comment for others. Good Luck! :good:
Previous build: MMB29M.G900FDXXS1CQD2... It's UAE based...
First I installed lineage OS 16 then went to linage os 17 (unofficial) and yet I couldn't resolve the issue and in then I went back to Official build (as I thought I have hardware fault) but it wasn't a hardware issue.

I have been looking so long for a solution.
But build.prop will be overwritten at each upgrade ?

Hi
Have just tried this, it results in the 4G SIM changing to H+ and the Edge SIM changing to no data.
Lineage 17.1 is the same.
I really appreciate your help though, can you suggest anything else that may fix this problem?
Many Thanks
