Can I still get an OTA with the bootloader unlocked? I know I have to be unrooted, but I'm getting the phone today, so I'm not sure if I should try for the update before I unlock the bootloader. I always used a custom ROM on my Nexus 6P, so this is new for me.

has anyone rooted and unlocked bootloader then got the 4.0.2 update? Also allied the update? If so does root & bootloader still work?
I updated to 4.0.2 then oem unlocked and rooted the device with out issue.
Easy root will always work on Nexus devices.
1. Bootloader
2. fastboot oem unlock
will always be there. It's a Nexus device, they encourage you to hack/modify your phone.
so i have 4.0.1 and already rooted and unlock bl. i keep getting the update message. can i update without problem?
i also used the superboot to do all this. from here

Planning to keep it as stock as possible, but I would like to at least have it bootloader unlocked first. Can anyone confirm if Android Pay still works with just unlocked bootloader, but no root?
Yes, Android Pay does work with an unlocked bootloader on any phone that isn't rooted. Android Pay only checks if the phone is rooted and is running a 100% stock rom.

What about this "breaker" that occurs on the 6P when you unlock the bootloader, do we have to worry about this on the 5X?
Unlocked Verizon Pixel. On Build NDE63N. Will doing update relock? It's the 48.2MB update.
no but if you are concerned install WETA rom version NDE63X
No, just grab the the ota from here,https://developers.google.com/android/ota and flash via fastboot. You will lose root and recovery, but there easy enough to redo. NEVER RELOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER!!!!!
Ok, Picked up my pixel yesterday from verizon and the sales guy updated the phone for me while he was setting it up. I'm on the NDE63x build already, will the sunshine method unlock work with that version?? (crosses fingers)
Once you unlock the bootloader, it will not re-lock taking updates. You have to manually lock it again.
I am stock firmware and havent touched it. I only have unlocked bootloader of my moto g5. Can I OEM update with unlocked bootloader?.
I saw an article for locking bootloader and it said to flash the firmware again. As I am already on untouched firmware, can i directly lock my bootloader? I have bricked a device in the past and so don't want to do that again.
Hi,
I have question so my phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted, recently I got the notification for the pie update to Android 9. My question now can I still update without problems or should I unroot and lock my bootloader again?
Do not ever relock your bootloader. Unless you were planning on selling it.
So the update will be no problem? But won't it be noticed in the update process and cause problems?

The bootloader being unlocked had nothing to do with updating. But root might , I'm not sure I don't take OTA updates. Magisk Is a systemless root so it may work fine , I haven't ever tried.
The unlocked bootloader is fine. Worst case scenario you lose your root and have to reroot your phone, which is easy to do. I upgraded from 8 to 9 without issue with an unlocked bootloader, all I had to do was reroot the phone
