I'm noticing something that makes me laugh. If I am on the homescreen of the launcher, and I tap the recent apps button, for a second my wallpaper gets full of rich color and then it goes to recent apps. Why can't we just have that preset lol

That's because the bottom half of the launcher has a fog effect that's darker as it goes to the bottom of the screen. Try using Nova launcher and all that goes away

do i miss some thing ? the options to get - 7 and even more will be nice...
There are enough launchers in the market that will let you have as many homescreens as you like.
And with API 14 all of them should have hardware acceleration.

i know, but still its really Disappoint
BTW: hi Friend, long time no see (its you?)
Why is it so disappointing? Android launcher has never had more than 5 screens.
For me personally, i have a hard enough time filling 5 screens with functionality. 7 would be insane haha.
And how can you really need 7? i myself use 2 HS

I only use 4 homescreens myself too. Still, once the ICS source is released, I'm sure many launcher replacements based on the ICS launcher will pop up with added features. It happened with Launcher Pro and ADW launcher, after all.
I use 7 screens as well.
If the 3rd party launchers do not work to my liking with ICS, I will learn to adjust.

2 is plenty for me, I like clean an minimal. 2 weather Widgets on one screen and Google search and music widget on the other then my regularly used apps go into folders in adw dock. I hope we can reduce the amount of screens if anything to continue this set up on my nexus when it arrives.

I use 4 homescreens but I'll probably only need 3 with ICS since I'll be using a few folders which I didn't do with gingerbread. I realized that when I was shortly on a miui rom and the folders were really helpful to categorize apps and the miui folders worked and looked like they supposed to, just like in ICS now.
I only use 3 but I can use 5 but the widgets to fill them up aren't as useful as if I just had 3

You won't even need a Google search widget anymore
I use between 3 and 5 homescreens, depending on the ROM (power buttons included/not included in notification area for example) and my current theme. So 5 screens on ICS launcher will be perfect for me, although I'll probably get tired of the launcher and switch to a more customizable eventually
I only use 3 homescreen, enough for me.
Why do you want 7 when you (probably) wont use the 2 on each side much?
5 screens is more than enough, I have been fine with just 3 screens the last couple of years, going to 4th or 5th screen it too far away in my opinion, just easier to use the app drawer at that point.

this..
its a nexus aka pure google.
you people should have known this if you were planning to get the galaxy nexus.
Don't forget u can just drag like apps or whatever u want on top of each other and it automatically creates very functional folders!

I only use 1 homescreen.

I use 3 homescreens, and even with those 3 I don't even use 1/2 of the apps on a regular basis. With the new improved folder UI, I see myself being just fine with 2 or 3 homescreens.
I must admit I actually use 4 1/2 screens on my HD2. 2 of those screens are used by full screen widgets for twitter and facebook, my Homescreen is packed with various calendar, notes widgets and shortcuts adn the other 2 are just filled with junk.
With the new widgets that ICS brings I can condense all my calendar widgets into a single smaller widget and the new folder function will tidy ALOT of my various shortcuts into accessible groups.
5 screens is more than enough unless you have several full screen widgets you wish to use and even then with the pixel density and resizable widget function of ICS im sure you will cope
Just remember that the more widgets you have running on the Homescreen the more it will slow up the scrolling and overall speed, Why do you think apple never introduced widgets into IOS and look how smoothly that flows.
Mark.
by the time you get to the 7th screen it would have been faster to just open the app drawer.
Is there a way to add more widges on the home screen? I want a google search widget between my clock and my app icons. There is definitely room but it wont let me add it.Thanks
The only way is to switch to another launcher (like Nova) that allows you to increase the vertical&horizontal grid size.
Here is my home screen

I've been an avid lover of "Go Launcher EX". With a screen this big, adding an extra row and going 5 wide helps out. Just take a solid hour and try out all the different launchers. IMHO I was never sold sold on touchwiz, dumped it the very first five minutes I owned the SGS1.
Try running 'Multicon' widget. It allows you to display 4 icons in the space 1 icon normally uses. Seems to work great for me.

On mine is running great. I had no problems since day 1.

Works like a champ.
Do you guys get the option for the Pixel Google Time/Weather Widget under Nova?

Do the pixel shortcuts work on long-pressing the icons while using Nova?

So far so good with me. I tried the Pixel launcher for a bit, but reverted back to Nova.

But you still lose the home screen icon long-press shortcuts right? I'd also imagine you lose the weather widget.

It's like that with any launcher specific features. I personally use Beautiful Widgets with Nova Prime.

Nova still have a google widget although it doesn't have the weather... Not a huge issue tbh. Long press shortcuts are missing which is a pity but I reckon they'll implement them soon anyway.

Nova latest Beta includes weather widget and long press shortcuts!
Just wondering if anyone can figure out how to get the daily wallpaper to stop changing everyday. I understand that you can just select the wallpaper from the gallery of wallpapers in the wallpaper app but it doesn't seem to scale or frame the scene the same way as if it was randomly selected. It's slightly off and zoomed in if you select the wallpaper manually.

You can pinch to zoom in and out when selecting a single wallpaper through Google wallpaper selector

So I just got a pixel 2 xl and I've been customizing my home screen to my liking. I'm added a widget to my home screen, but every time I touch it to refresh it, it wants to move it or change it's size. Anyone know how to fix this?
You should you're not long pressing the widget?

Absolutely sure, just the quickest tap will act as a long press and make it want to change its position or resize it.
What widget are you using? Pixel Launcher right?

Yes, just stock Pixel launcher. I'm trying to use my bank widget just to see/update my current balance.
It's probably that app widget in particular. I just added a wdiget with a refresh button and it worked just fine. You have another widget to add and test? If so and it works fine, contact the app developer for your bank app.

it seems like its only a couple widgets that do the same.
Try them with Nova launcher...
You might want to change your "Touch & hold delay" setting. You can find this in the Accessibility section in Settings. It has 3 options; short, medium, long. Maybe changing yours to long may help....
Hope this helps...
