Anyone know when the update is coming with the color options and whatever software they're changing for the Pixel XL 2's screen burn in? I'm guessing there's no info on it since I can't find any info about the update
Nothing and very quiet! We are all on the edge of our seats...

I thought it's coming with 8.1, hope Google releases them with security patch. Would be better.
I could care less about the color boost. I use immersive, so the nav change is moot for me.
I just want my godamn camera audio fixed for video recording. It sounds like a webcam from 2004.
Update yay!! And now I'm very pleased with the display

AFIK, VoLTE can only be enabled at 8.1. This update is still 8.0 so there's no VoLTE still. As for the color options, I still prefer the more natural colors. The boosted is fine, just a tad bit more vibrant than natural. But the saturated mode tho! The reds really pop, almost to the point they hurt my eyes.
Here are some pics btw (left to right: boosted, natural, and saturated)
Except for galaxy S4 for a year, I used exclusively nexus devices since the Nexus one. Perhaps I am not that used to the vibrant colors of samsung devices, I actually had no problem with the old natural sRGB display before the update. Just updated few hours ago and I changed the display settings back and forth...... and yes... I agree the more saturated display usually does look better, but it's also a bit fake to my eyes
I'm wondering if I'll get that update since I'm on 8.1 developer preview?

Its a little different with Nexus and Pixels. By the time OEMs get Android its a fine tuned product. This is a small incremental beta, not a full blown OS changeover. Probably won't be many bugs.

All I am saying is there is a difference between Google phones and Moto, Samsung, LG etc. By the time they get Android software its already good to go thanks to you and I. We already tested this stuff on Nexus and Pixels. There's nothing wrong with trying betas and developer previews.

Yeah, but when you get out of the beta program, some people have said you have to wait to get back to a stable build. Its not instant. Unlock your bootloader and flash the factory image. If your on a locked Verizon phone then it is what it is. Your at Google's mercy.

I have heard people having to wait at most, 24-48 hours after getting off the beta program, to return to stability. New updates are one of the most exciting things about these devices. That said, if stability is important to you, then stay where your at and let the other's be guinea pigs. Keep a close eye on the comments of other's that run the beta and see if its for you? I'm unlocked and rooted. Can do whatever I want, when I want. Haha, at the mercy of the great devs of XDA of course and Google.

7.1.1 beta on my 6p was almost the final build and actually an upgrade to 7.0. my guess is 7.1.2 will be the same. Hopefully fixes some of the TMO network issues I've been having with my pixel and hopefully 256 QAM is enabled among few other features our phones are capable of that aren't functioning yet. AptX support would be a nice welcome

I'm in Japan, with Docomo. Been playing around and it's been interesting so far. Ended up doing a factory reset as I had some issues with apps and wifi, but everything is fine now.
Some interesting new features. Resizing of the display is pretty neat; figuring out which apps work with split screen is taking a bit. Overall feel is that it's a bit smoother, nice transitions etc. Dunno on battery life yet.
If we've got it here it shouldn't be much longer for elsewhere.

I know we can download an APK for camera P3 and get the feature but why is it taking so long for Google to release the official features advertised? It's been a month the device has been out now, do we have any official release dates?
Short answer: no one knows
Certainly is ridiculous, you advertise features that don't release with a phone. Between that and the memory issues they can't fix quick enough they wonder why they can't get people from Apple to convert over. Just terrible business...
If they're taking longer to iron out bugs and improve the feature, in my opinion they can take as long as they like.

It's not that big of a deal. It's only been out for 4 weeks. Plus, companies including Apple regularly advertise features that don't get added until after the device launches. The original portrait mode for Apple devices came out months after the phone launched.

Apple users never convert, you should know that. Night mode will not make them either.
If you're simply dying for the feature there is an apk that will install a second app drawer camera with the feature until it's merged into the regular one.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they say at the Pixel reveal that it would come in November?

It seems there is a slight quality decrease with the official one when you zoom and check. Old one is a little bit better. I have compared only the night site. Official app is sticking more to the lower ISO than old apk.

I have been on beta 1-5 and never saw that. Ever. Not saying it didn't happen, but the phones they are showing are the pixel 2 saying pixel 3. Also that is the gsi version which is different than the pixel firmware. You lose more features going to a gsi and gain a few. I am sure that is one of them.

That was a build of Q XDA got before the first beta came out.
For those that are experiencing issues with Fingerprint sensor, there's an interesting project to add Face Unlock that is gaining traction. Here's the xda thread that explains how it works..
Also, a few custom ROMs have added Face Unlock, such as Derpfest Raviole (maintainer FullOfHell). It adds a bunch of other customization options and the latest version is stable with improved performance over stock.
Just wanted to add that face unlock is less secure than fingerprint unlock which is even less secure than a long PIN or Password. You should only be using face unlock if you know the risks (and of course it doesn't have to be used).
Still holding up hope that Google decides to add this to the P6. Even though it's doubtable after half a year of them not giving any indications.
I'm also still holding out hope google adds it
in Pixel 7 Pro only lol I bet
ОТAgree! I miss Pixel 4(((

bobby janowDerpfest Raviole maintainer (Fullofhell) has been working on it for a few months behind the scenes and just released it last week (3rd build now). It's very stable. I mean you really have to try it for yourself.
Just have no password, it's more secure and faster to unlock

That really doesn't help much. Is there a feature list, what is included, what doesn't work? Just saying it's stable is very limited information. Is there a reason it's not on XDA?
Yeah if the Dev wanted it on here, wouldn't they make a post? This whole thread seems like an ad
