I would highly recommend Paranoid OS, very stable when I used it. Now I use the Oxygen OS Oreo open beta, and I like it more than Paranoid OS, mainly because its stability (seems weird saying a beta is stable but hey havn't had any crashes in like 2-3 weeks.)
One thing to be noted, until you replace the bootloader, and change the SELinux policy you won't be able to install Magisk and it will actually bootloop and brick your device.
Besides that running good!
One of the main reasons why I loved Paranoid OS was because of all the customization options. I loved the quick pull down, and the full Substratum support.
I however wouldn't recommend Lineage OS. I tried both 14.1 and 15.0 and they both were very eh. They felt slow at times and froze temporarily and apps crashed. However, this is all just anecdotal evidence that I have so it is certainly possible other users have had more positive experiences with the ROM than I have. I know that plenty of people love it actually.
Took many flashes too find the ROM I like now, so I recommend you don't just pick one and sit with it, try all of em! At least that's what I did. :/
Here is a short list of all the ROMs I have tried along with my personal ratings for them.
Dirty Unicorns \\ 9/10
Paranoid Android 7.3.1 \\ 9/10
Lineage OS 14.1 & 15.0 \\ 6/10
Oxygen OS 4.5.1 \\ 6/10
Oxygen OS Open Beta 25 & 26 \\ 9/10
Experience OS (Just Oxygen OS Open Beta with a few slight modifications for a better overall user experience). \\ 8/10
Remix Resurrection \\ 6/10 (Had a lot of the same issues Lineage OS did, which makes sense since it is based off it I believe)
AOSP 7.1.2 \\ 8.5/10 (Security patches are stuck in July, if it wasn't for that it would be my daily driver actually.)
Also a heads up if you go with Paranoid OS like I did at first, use WhiteWolf's Kernel. It is actually really good, gave me about 10% more SoT. Although that was on 7.3.0, not sure if it still works on 7.3.1 although it should.
For all the other ROMs I reccomend blu_spark recovery+kernel.
Best of luck!

Based on 7.1, however they have stopped updating 7.1 to my knowledge and have been working completely on Oreo from what I know. Should be here in no time.

For Paranoid OS, the kernel options are very limited. I think its only the stock one (which is fine imo), the Winter one, which saves on power a bit, and another one. Theres not really much difference between them for gaming, and really if you are looking to game you are going to be looking at overclocking a bit yourself. I would recommend using blu_spark kernel for anything that isn't Paranoid OS and just overclocking it.

Flashed Oxygen Oreo Beta on oneplus 3 but getting very very low sound in voice call .. any 1 facing this issue ? on stock or custom rom ?

Can you give link to WhiteWolf pa kernel?
Sent from my hammerhead using XDA Labs

I tried almost all the custom roms out there but sadly non of them were as stable as the stock oxygen even the bid names out there (paranoid, lineage)
Paranoid has lost most of the devs and its essence in rom development scenario. I still miss the old paranoid I used during kitkat days.
The new team has been struggling a lot to keep up with the latest android updates. No timely updates, always falling behind of other teams.
The 2nd runner up in my opinion was exodus rom but the dev team for that rom has been split, so no hope there.
Im currently on beta 24 (nougat). It's the most stable in my opinion.

Its coming along well. They are slowly adding features in. Not sure I like the changes in 8.0 so I personally maybe going back to 7.x

Use PA or Sultanxda LOS 14.1 or Vertex OS if you need a custom rom nothing compares to these in terms of performance/battery and optimizations. Everything else is just adding useless bloat and no optimizations

I wouldnt go around calling others work garbage as that is all a matter of your opinion. As the same could be said from another about PA and all LOS based roms.

Yeah I really liked PA, but I don't really think much can compare to stock in terms of stability. However that is just my opinion.

Cool thanks. I know people feel strongly about their roms of choice and that is good. Let's just keep it civil. The human race is already known for being devided over petty things. Let's not make this one of them.
Yes it does take a lot of time. Just my personal builds take 2 hours to make a single build, that's just building, not adding in and fixing things.

Lineage OS or Resurrection?

I am wondering which ROM gives you the better features.
1. Which ROM updates more
2. Which ROM tends to be more stable
3. Which ROM gives better battery life
4. Less bugs
Out of those mentioned above which ROM would probably be better for the Oneplus 3T, Lineage or Resurrection ROM?
Thanks
1) Resurrection seems to update more as lineage is on a weekly basis only.
2) Resurrection is built off lineage sources, so technically lineage will always be more stable. I just personally prefer Resurrection because of the customization aspect.
3) Battery life can be better on Resurrection because of the screen off functions otherwise it's gonna be roughly the same.
4) I've got no problems bug wise with either, but with the additional features of Resurrection, there's gonna be more bugs

I'm getting Canara error on latest build on rr can u pls help me
What kind of camera error? Are you trying to use Google camera?
Either get Sultan's LOS for stability, extra security patches and potentially better battery, or RR if you prefer customization.
Sultan usually updates at least 2-3 times a month, but only if there are major patches and fixes or security patches. But it's hella stable. Don't use any custom kernel as Sultan's kernel is amazing and is the whole point of the ROM.

Can't understand bro

Too many RR/Resur. Rec. ROM. / What are the differences?

Hello brothers,
I see many, too many RR ROMS. I really try to understand what the differences are.
I read the first post, but it doesn't give me that extra information I looking for.
Please, can you guys tell me what the (big)/(small) differences are?
This one are now availble all: (sorry for my horrible English).
[CAF][Sultan-ized][UNOFFICIAL]Resurrection Remix ROM [5.7.4][May 1]
[LOS][OTA]Resurrection Remix N[UNIFIED][OMS][7.1.2_r8][21 MAI]
[Official Rom][Unified-Builds] Resurrection Remix [OP3/3T][May 10]
[7.1.2]-ZeNiTy-RR-Evolution-[EAS-VOX]-[OMS]-[Magisk]-[MicroG]
[OP3T/OP3][Sultan-ized][UNOFFICIAL]Resurrection Remix ROM [5.8.3][May 9]
So I see some, LOS, OTA, CAF.
But what more? And .. Which one is the most stable with best battery life?
I really don't have the time to install all of them and try it
Thanks in advance, guys.

CAF= provided with drivers developed by Code Aurora Project, which are more reliable than others;
LOS= based on LineageOS, useless wording since CyanogenMod is no longer supported;
Unified-build= developed for both Oneplus 3/3T;
EAS= kernel scheduling system (HMP) aimed to power saving https://www.linaro.org/blog/core-du...core-dump/energy-aware-scheduling-eas-project;
VOX= another kernel scheduling system (HMP) aimed to power saving https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...kernel-vertexos-blazar-zenith-kernel-t3571781;
OMS= means that the rom is provided of Sony framework, so Substratum should be fully compatible;
Sultanized= rom tweaked like the user @Sultanxda does.
I would discourage you to install Resurrection Remix.
With Lollipop it was simply perfect, with Marshmallow it became a bit unstable, with Nougat it completely lost stability.
I hope to get wrong (since my latest RR installation goes back to January 2017, now I'm on Dirty Unicorns).
Personally I would stay on Official build for a better support: Resurrection Remix is a derivated of a derivated (RR-LOS-AOSP), it's already "messed up".
The Sultanized variant should be greatful, but it's still based on Marshmallow.
However there's the EAS-VOX variant, which should be excellent in terms of battery like and provides also Magisk, Substratum support and microG.
So you've to choose: for the best stability go with official RR, for the best experience go with EAS-VOX variant.

No, that's Spanish ?
In Italy we say Grazie!
Yeah I'm very happy.
The latest stable release (v11.4-20170506) is simply perfect, the only issue is the lacking of USB OTG support.
You have most of the RR tweaks, even OmniSwitch, you have also the useful Op. App menu and Substratum support (that should be absent in official RR).
You have the essential, dialer is provided just because needed in a phone... otherwise they would remove it ?
User is fully master of his device.
The only suggestion is to be careful when installing weekly builds.
They are not so stable as said by developers.
Good luck

Official RR also has OMS support. The first post just isnt updated i think.
I am always looking for the best ROM.
At the moment I use LineAge from sultanxda.
I install Dirty Unicorns, AOSP Extended & Phoenix version, RR official and eliminaters version, crDroid and watch videos about other ROMs.
RR has really everything and every feature of any other ROM I tried. So the all-in-one package is RR. The version from eliminater has TugaBrowser and some extras like Google camera etc. I hope I remember correctly.
But then I go through every feature and compare with LineAge and I saw, I don't use any other feature than LineAge features.
So I try LineAge from sultanxda for battery life now to see, if it is better.
I have no experience with kernels and changing kernel settings and I am not sure, if I want to do that. I hope, sultanxda has made everything automatically.
I think, a comparision thread for all ROMs here would be very helpful for new users, because here are so many ROMs, kernels etc. :silly:

Those two are not true, these are not features but replacement of the whole HMP system from how the CPU handles tasks to frequencie usage. I cant say too much about it but it aims for better peformancr/per watt and yes with the right setup it achieves this. EAS incombination with Voxpopuli did not only increase battery for me. But the magnificent part comes to peformance.
Voxpopuli is a really smartway of input boosting, yes we need input boost for a smooth UI experience. Voxpopuli can detect swipes and touches. The faster you swipe the longer it boosts to be sure it will give the Smoothest experience you can have, touches boost way less then swipes.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Alright so I'll reflash Zenity since I had it before with very slow fingerprint and stuff. I won't restore anything this time. I let google play download the apps that I was using before but I won't this time. Don't know if it will effect anything but this is very slow! I can't keep going like dis ;-;
I'll flash a all new clean Zenity and share it with you.
Yes it is laggy the time that passes while I wait for screen to turn on is longer than the earth's existence..

all in one rom??

why cant we have a ROM with all the desired features. there are certainly many android roms but each is unique in its way. how many have you changed a ROM just because you didn't like a single thing about it or a single feature is missing.
is it possible for us to get a single ROM that has features added that the users want and not what the developers think we want.
no offense we appreciate the work you do.
The only way is to build your own rom with all the required features..
Try RR rom which has every single features you are looking for

RR doesn't have a pie rom
There used to be a ROM, that was a combination of all major custom roms avaliable at it"s time
Paranoid Android
+
AOKP
+
CyanogenMod
PAC rom. Unfortunately it's last and final version was 6.0 (MM based) and PAC team made a announcement, that PAC rom is no longer going to be developed and they will make a new rom. This statement is from 2016....
Ressurection Remix seems to be it"s closest friend (it's Oreo based though)
on OREO!
RR, AEX, CRDROID, HOVAC with few nip and tucks they have almost everything you would love!
also if you try each rom with different kernel each reacts differntly with Volume, battery and performance
1. InsigniuX kernel x10
2. Derp 4.0
3. Agni Kernel
4. stormguard and Kirks kernel
so the more different roms are the more choices you have to suite according to you needs, requirement and customization!
thats the beauty!
also MOKEE is good too! very stable! ,

since 8.1 roms have reached to its END! so there is nothing more is going on with them!
but dirty Unicorn released all sorts of system UI tweaks for 8.1 and Xposed working on 8.1, hence i have done my fair share of homework & found out that Satisfactory level of DU tweaks founded in
1. CR Droid (final OREO released Oct2018)
2. Havoc 8.1 (final Oreo Aug2018
3. RR 6.2 ( final , sept 2018) ( currently using) ( no double tap to sleep feature)
4. AOSIP8.1 (very nice, Aug2018 one time build for 8.1, no incremental builds on 8.1)
5. AEX ( similar to AOSIP but have FONTS support , which makes is more attractive)
6. OMNIROM & Linage! both very stable roms! but both vanished after 1 attempt of release on android 8.1 (no UI Tweaks Found)
ALL CUSTOM ROMS USES KERNELS DERP, (few uses stormguard or InsigniuX) however all these kernels are from main tree of ANYKERNEL BY Osm0sis on github. and all roms i had tried on TWO three different RN5p ,,, i found
1. RANDOM REBOOTS when you remove phone from ear and waiting screen to wakup so that you disconnect CALL.
2. same happens with whatsapp call too!
3. when headphone jack is inserted, everything works perfect! no random reboots
4. RR6.2 don't start syncing unless u wake the mobile! ,
5. audio volume on whatsapp call is ALWAYS ALWAYS low! no matter how much you tweak mixer path file! but on CRDOID its little better for uknown reason
6. both CRdroid4.7 and HAVOC on android 8.1 have strange random network connectivity failure, they both just cant read simcards in tray unless u re insert sim while mobile is ON. I network reset many times on areoplane mode and restart device! , sometimes it works! but many times i have to re inserte simcards after rebooting device (tried on InsigniuX and Derp kernels)
now there is MOKEE Rom which releases updated version EVERYDAY! 750+mb to download each day or atleast every alternative day! i used MOKEE for 1month almost and
1. there was update every day! , incremental updates were 20mb but later they removed incremental update feature and now FULL rom needs to be downloaded. WHERE
2. I found out they are only updating preinstalled app versions or updating Kernel version if its releases. so there was never DEVELOPMENTAL increase!. (not that I know off) because
3. I had been reporting that IMO gives some SOUND LIBRARIES ERROR and the other party can hear YOUR "helo Helo" but all you can hear is SILENCE... but till last november build the same bug was there! , whatsapp volume is ok but
4. MOKEE don't have DU tweaks and I wanted to control navbar height so i installed DIMENSIONS EDITOR in XPOSED and SOUND /VOLUME/CALL DIED. it became so low! , when xposed removed and rom reflashed (dirty flashed) , sound became back to normal.
so summing up! its not just rom!
the link between given ANYKERNEL by Osm0sis to enrich end user experience also MATTERS!
I miss miui applocker in all the oreo and pie roms....

Wow that's alot of info but still all the developer for custom ROM just do the same thing like building a brand and rarely try any cool experiments ... I used to love those custom roms from ICS time they used out any features they could find.

Future Updates (official) or Custom Rom?

Hi everyone!
I have my OP 5t (8/128) since release date and it is still my favourite phone!
I'm thinking about future update policy from OP... Still running OOS 9.0.4, but how many updates will we get in the future?
Is it better to switch to a Custom Rom for better and longer support in the future? If yes - what Custom Rom do you prefer and why?

Pretty sure they will update 5t to q, dont know what will happen after that.
As for custom roms, try anything you want and see what suits your taste. Resurrection remix is a good example for customizations (or aex, havoc, coltos etc)
Omni Treskmod is kinda a flash and use style of rom. It is almost like Pixel Experience. You can also try diffrent kernel-rom combinations. You can try HMP and EAS based kernels. EAS is the one google have in their phones. You can google it up.
At the moment im trying DerpFest. My top 5 roms are;
1.Aex-Krieg(love krieg aex kernel)
2.ColtOS(Reminds me miui cause of it's diffrent recents style)
3.DerpFest(love it's boot animation and wallpapers)
4.Omni Treskmod(simple custom rom that you will never have a headache with but lacks customization)
5.CrDroid(enough customizations and overall stability.)
Some of the roms have problems with camera2api with WhatsApp and Instagram. I have asked many devs and thankfuly thry have fixed those problems. I would stay close with roms that have active telegram groups as you might need to troubleshoot if you find a bug.
Some roms have outdated xda threads such as ViperOS(saw a comment),ResurrectionRemix(latest builds in their sourceforge). So be sure to check their websites(if they have one) for latest builds before you download an older one.
Hope it helps...

Thanks a lot for your opinion!
I tried different Custom Roms, but all have one or two bugs, so i turned back to stock OOS... The most stable and bugfree Custom Rom for me was Pixel Experience!
Hope we will get a few updates in the future for our OP 5t

Franco kernel and app feels like too complicated for me. RenderZenith is good if you want only eas and no other custom stuff(it will give you a little bit better results compared to stock kernel.). It is best for people who want to flash and use. Weeb also got better with it's beta versions but still, i would use it if i was playing heavy graphical games. If you want battery and stuff you can set manually go for Aex-Krieg kernel.
If you want pure HMP kernel that is focused on battery i would suggest Mad Kernel. Eas is not really best for battery, it is best for balanced
Dont get me wrong, franco kernel might be good but it doesnt suit me and i really didnt get use to it.

[G8441, XZ1c] [8.1] Resurrection Remix v6.2.1 (Oreo)

Resurrection Remix Oreo
If you're not familiar with Resurrection Remix (RR), it's a very customizable and feature rich ROM. It's packed with some many great features like a notification ticker (like in the good ol' Kitkat days), styling changes, custom gestures, and more! RR is based on LineageOS. This is a build originally developed on by (russel5), but abandoned in favor of AospEx and Pie projects of his. Personally, I'm not a fan of the direction taken in Pie and will be sticking with Oreo. I'll be developing the rom further with features, bug fixes and enhancements. Any suggestions or bugs should be opened as an issue on the Github.
Please report any issues you have on the Github. The issue tracker helps me keep organized and on top of stuff.
Downloads
GitHub
Installation
1. Download firmware zip
2. Download OpenGapps/MicroG/Whatever
3. Push to phone
4. Reboot to recovery (recommend TWRP) and do a full wipe
5. Flash RR then whatever else after (Gapps, ect)
6. Reboot
7. ???
8. Profit
General Info:
If you have issues with the camera being green, make sure you update your firmware to the most recent Oreo one via newflasher. I will update this with information regarding this. It's been months since I did it so I need to remember and hunt the files down I used (which is hard since my last computer died and I switched to Linux). I'd backup your Drm keys before doing anything if you do.
Exclude when flashing:
* fotakernel.sin
* kernel.sin
* simlock.ta (if you have it)
* system.sin
* userdata.sin
* vendor.sin
Forced encryption is disabled. If you want it make sure to flash the boot img attached. Many users have bootloops so use at your own caution. To flash use fastboot flash boot boot.img

Yes, very good rom but i find out on androidfilehost about half year, so old.
USB tethering doesnt work.
Plenty of functions.
Stable, fast, no lags, pretty battery acceptable, more than 1 day of battery life.
Display options from stock, stock camera works very good.
I think, we need upgrade RR to 7 or 8.
I am using it now for about week and its very good as daily.
And at this moment its way better than Q roms.

You can't find the most recent version of the rom on AFH, I had to hunt it down from some random forum and the most recent one before that was unstable so wanted to get it out there for people to have. I really like RR. I'll test tethering, I thought it was fine but haven't really used it. Maybe I'll mess with 7 or 8 someday after I have this one developed alittle. I personally don't have any interest in Pie+.
Edit: USB tethering works fine for me. Must be an issue with your computer. I'm using Kubuntu 18.04 and works perfectly.

I am using Windows 8.1, but in other roms like stock or PE 10 USB tethering works. I push that on and no reaction in computer - networking.
If will be Havoc OS 2.x or BaikalOS, ill start interest in pie, because i had these roms in Mi Mix 2 and they was best. Havoc in general, can be compared with most functions with RR, Baikal from russia brats in battery life, performance and simplicity.
Idk if they dont arrive to XZ1c, but pie i liked was stock, Oxygen, Miui (with some bugs, but with future).
Still, oreo and nougat roms are older, but better in most things except mentioned roms.

No idea, can't remember testing out the Pie CrDRoid on here. I'm not a fan of Pie+ so it didn't interest me. Should test and report in, looks like they are similar being LOS based with decent amount of customization. CrDroid has signature spoofing, but I'm making a build with that added in for RR as I type. But yeah, let me know and what other features that CrDroid has that looks cool.

Hi, i have tested update of this rom and found out 2 system bugs.
First thing - bootloop. I flashed it like usually with newest BitGapps arm64 8.1.0 v15 and magisk. BitGapps caused bootloop. Clean install with only magisk booted, but magisk app not installed, so i had to install Magisk Manager manually, root installed.
Second boot into recovery and flash BitGapps caused no google store app, like before, so i flashed MindGapps and it works.
It is mine problem, i using alternative gapps but good to notice.
Sometimes not smooth, torn animations. More often than older build.
Red blinkings: Right after successful boot, after some clicks i see weird red blinkings on display. Something similar like in developer options turn on display blinkings after stress GPU/CPU but this happen in random time and is not turned on. Is little bit enyoying, its not happened in older 2018 build.
So my decide will be flash again .228 firmware and stay with Havoc OS, now i used version 3.8 for month and i can say, now is android 10 in lilac flawlessly done. I like more older Oreo UI but fix issue with blinking and i will be your satisfied user.
Thank you and best regards.

What's special about Bitgapps? That's really strange, can you grab a log on boot using adb? If not, go to https://github.com/hockeymikey/android_device_sony_lilac/issues and make an issue and help me track it and I'll get around to testing it. It'll help keep in touch with you and solve it especially if for some reason I can't recreate it for some reason. I got that red outline too and I thought it was just me. It went away for me so might be temporary on the initial install. If you could create an issue for that too on the previous link so I can keep you updated for that too.

So I did some testing. The red blinking is gone, that fix will be included in the next release (which includes signature spoofing and updates so a few system libraries like base, native and lineage-sdk). BitGapps doesn't cause a bootloop for me. It was kinda buggy, which is odd and crashes. I'll see what I can find for it. Magisk works fine for me. Make sure it's the most recent version but I was using old versions too as well as new so I don't know.
Hm, with usb-debugging enabled, it dont ask for permission and dont save the adb-key, so u arent able to adb into twrp. But ADB to the booted device works. Anybody else got this?

That's a TWRP reason. Whoever built it disabled adb in it. I repackaged twrp to allow adb for myself, I can share it if you want.
This will be nice
And... i get this red-frame too if some higher cpu-usage happens. What did u do against it?
Encrypting the device ends in a infinity-loop at the "Encrypting... time remaining 00:00.."-Screen.
Maybe i missed something (tried with and without the boot.img for force-encryption)?

I think this is the correct one, let me know if not. Red frame is an issue I caused with how I built it, building it as a dev build not production. It's fixed on my device. I'll eventually get a new build out, I've been waiting to get OpenDelta done for OTA updates first to streamline the updating process. Maybe I should push one out sooner since the build on here I don't think is really that usable while my phone one I'm using daily. I haven't tested encryption honestly. I'll have to look into. If you could make an issue on github with every little detail to help me track and fix, that'd be cool.
Hmm, same problem -> adb devices -> unauthorized
And there is no dialog for accept/store the ADB-Key if u plugin the PC for the first time.
So.. i was using newflasher to flash the stock oreo rom and guess what... the stock rom does the same... so if u flash the stock rom (47.1.A.16.20) without remove any files from the stock-rom-directory and the adb_key still exists... where can it be?
BTW: i can access the stock-rom with adb add the first start at the "Welcome"-Screen... but twrp cant find/use the key which is stored $somewhere
