Nova launcher question - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I would like to use Nova launcher, but I am unable to get the Google feed to show when I swipe left, am I missing something in the settings or is it not available for Nova?
Sorry if this was asked, I couldn't find it when I searched
Thanks for any and all help

[Q] I can't find Google Voice Search on my Nexus???

Sorry if this is a really dumb question, but I cannot seem to find Google Voice Search on my Nexus!!! It's not in the app drawer, there's no widget for it. But I go to Settings>Apps, and it's still under the "All" section, and I'm able to enable/disable it just fine. So I tried to go to the Market to see if I could download it there, and there is no "install" button (I'm assuming because it's a built in app)...help? I'm not running any custom ROM's...just stock, unlocked, rooted. I am using Nova Launcher, so that may be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

See the search bar on to? Tap the microphone on the right side. That's Google Voice Search.

Ohhh thank you. I disabled the search bar in Nova Launcher...I didn't realize that was the only way to do the Voice Commands...

Wallpaper since the latest update

I hate, hate, hate the new way wallpaper is applied since the most recent update. Is there a way I can go back to just picking a pic and making it a stationary wallpaper? I don't want to have a crop a pic 1,000 times to try to get it the way I want it to look on the home screen. And I don't want it to shift in the background when I swipe to a different screen. I just want it to stay stationary.
Use another launcher
How do I do that?

Try Nova Launcher. Probably the best launcher.

How do I use a different launcher? I have no clue. I just turn on my phone and use what's there.

You must first install the new launcher from Google play.
For example Nova Launcher.
Thank you so much for the help! That's so much better!

Search bar...

Any way to get rid of the Google search bar at the bottom of the home screen? It is annoying and I never use it.
Thanks!

Your rooted so check out end of this thread post #565 from @Tulsadiver, he shared a couple files to remove search bar plus a couple features.

It's funny, because before I had no use for it. I'd always stick with opening chrome and typing in the search area there. For the last year now I've been using the search bar widget on my homescreen and seriously can't go without it. I barely even open Chrome anymore. And even when I do use a customer launcher time to time usually Nova...first thing I do upon setup is stick that search bar right at the bottom lol.

Pixel Launcher DP2 Not Showing New Home Button

I normally use Nova Launcher as my default launcher but wanted to try Pixel launcher. As you can see in screenshot, I am not getting the Pixel home button, but the one from Nova Launcher.
Settings > system > Gestures > "swipe up on home button"
The new nav bar is not tied to the launcher. I use the new pill navigation on Nova launcher
Thats also the one from the Pixel and not from the nova launcher, as the nova launcher hasn't softkeys intgrated. I assume you mean the gesture-controll button, you have to activate it in Settings/system/gestures/"swipe from homebutton" (or so)

D'OH I thought I had activated that. Working now. Thanks
has anyone using Nova noticed that the back button shows even on the home screen? I believe it should show only when there is a need for it right? I switched to the stock launcher and it doesn't show there.

Yup lol. I got the same response. And something as silly as the back button always showing is keeping me from using it. For now I'm using pixel launcher.

Why I Can't Set Custom Launcher as Default Launcher ?

Solved The Problem Myself

I am facing an issue with my Samsung Galaxy F41, I am trying to set a custom launcher as my default launcher but I keep getting prompted to select between my custom launcher and the Samsung pre-built one.

I have already specified the custom launcher as my default in the default apps settings, but it keeps asking me to choose between the two. I have attached a video that shows the exact problem I am facing.
Your browser is not able to display this video.

I am not aware of any API changes made by Samsung in their latest update (Someone told me that it's something related api and i don't know what was he wanted to tell me), but I have tried all the ways I know to fix the problem and I still can't figure it out. I have tried multiple famous launchers available in the Play Store, but the problem remains.
If you have any solution to this issue, please let me know in the comments section. I would really appreciate your help in resolving this issue as I am eager to use my custom launcher as my default.
For example, Nova Launcher defends itself from being removed as the main launcher in its own settings.
Where did you get this "Kwaesltso" from?

Kvaesitso is a search focused, free and open source launcher for Android.

Btw I tried Nova launcher as well but getting same issue.
Before selecting a launcher app, try tapping on "Always" first.
I'm using One UI 2.5 with Nova and it works OK, but Kvaesitso doesn't work well because except for the home screen with clock and notifications I can't open the app panel.
