Development for the Blu Vivo 8L - BLU VIVO 8L Questions & Answers

It's a shame the Blu Vivo 8L came with Blu's own ugly skin. I was hoping they would have released the phone with stock android like the Blu R1 HD was. Also, I've noticed the phone doesn't let you use a different launcher other then the one that came pre-installed with the phone (Launcher3). I tried installing Nova and it worked till I rebooted the phone. I also noticed a feature in the DEV menu I haven't seen before in a BLU phone (at the least the one's i've owed) OEM Unlocking. It should be fairly easy to unlock the bootloader but the problem is a TWRP recovery hasn't been made for the device yet. I'm trying to root the phone myself and with no luck so far.

Devs rarely post ETAs, they post when it's done, or looking for testers.
Asking for ETAs is considered rude.
Watch the forums it will be posted when/if it's ready.

Thanks for letting me know!

Just a quick question. Can we extract the stock boot.img and patch it using Magisk to obtain root? Or do we need TWERP? Cause' I'm looking at the forum for Magisk and I see a section regarding obtaining root without the use of root/custom recovery and was simply wondering if we could that with the Blu Vivo 8L. I do not have much experience with modifying Android/obtaining root so I wouldn't know. It's better to ask the professionals.

You can decide what you want. Any action will be at your own risk.
What I can suggest for inexperienced users is: always do something with safety!
In this context, modifiyng in the boot.img stock and believe that the original recovery will let any process like ROOT go in without interfering can cause the system to not boot. Therefore, you must have experience to revive the phone.
If the original recovery (which has script to block ROOT) let the process of ROOT enter, then you will have no problem (which I believe will not happen). But anyway it's 50% chance for every situation. Keep in mind that it is often necessary to know if the bootloader is locked (necessary to perform the unlocking process) or unlocked.
The safest way to get ROOT (currently I know) is to have a Custom Recovery, make a backup of the files of your phone, save this backup in PC/Laptop/Notebook/Cloud/MicroSD, etc....
Then you can modify any part of the system on your phone, to ROOT, Xposed, etc.... So if something goes wrong, you have the backup files to use with Custom Recovery and revive the phone more easily (if the process with the SPFT does not work or you not know how use that - and it is also more annoying).
Well, it's always better to ask than to do something without information. If you still want to confirm the ROOT process directly by modifying the boot.img stock, remember the first part of this message.
So, :fingers-crossed:

Oh thank you for letting me know. I'm using the vivo as my main phone and would only like to try and root it if I know for a fact that it will work or at least I'am able to revive the phone easily. I just really wish I could root it right now so I can install Xposed, block ads, hack apps, etc. Unfortunately it can be done as of yet... oh well I guess all I need to do is wait. :fingers-crossed:

If you should still need this
[TWRP][UNOFFICIAL][PORT][STABLE] TWRP 3.5.2 for Blu Vivo 8L & Gionee A1 Lite and clones
TWRP - 3.5.2 --Your warranty is now void-- I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included...

I actually made a TWRP 2years ago, but I didn't post it anywhere coz I thought no one would ever need it
I eventually will build latest Android 12 based ROMs coz this phone is not gonna be my daily driver

I did make one, but I lost it to a faulty HardDisk
I am actually working with the kernel as of now
Once I am done with a proper Kernel Source, I'll start working with the other components [device tree, etc.], and yeah it would a lot of time..
I am done with the drivers, just the dtb part left. Hope to complete it soon!
But that said, in my country internet is costly and building a ROM may take time..

Nice, today I'm getting the device, hope it's not dead lol.
I have final exams this month but if the device is alive as soon as I finish them I might be able to give you a hand .
My local server is dead tho, I think it's the PS. Tomorrow I'll test it with another old PS, let's hope it's that

What made it boot loop? Just turn off your phone and try entering recovery mode. If not, try factory mode (Vol - + Power). If your phone goes to a boot loop, it's a software issue and a hardware issue..

The device is quite smashed lol, the chassis has its curve so my guess is it has damaged the mother. My other theory is that the curve is false pressing the power button or not letting me press it at all so when I am able to turn it on, as it's already being pressed it forces shutdown. However I see this last option quite unlikely because when it's charging it never reaches a onlycharge mode, it stays powered off

rooting ed88 mtk 6575 7" tablet+ phone

Hi I have a ed88 mtk6575 512mb ram and 4GB hd this is a tablet phone , it has 2 sim cards and I'd like to root it, I'm totally newbie, so please include step by step for this device.
It has android ics 4.0.4 build number ALPS.ICS.MP.V2.2 So if someone knows how to root one of this, please let me know.
Also is there is a way to make a custom rom for Jellybean that will be used on this phone? and what programs are available for it, please advice.
Thanks,
Gus

hi,
you can try 'Tpsparky root' in your tablet. it is for any Mt6575 devices.
But FIRST BACKUP YOUR ROM - NANDROID BACKUP. If anything go wrong, you can reflash the Rom, Also I am not responsible for any failure (Every developer or mate tells like these)
you can try here - the first file - xfab rooting.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32932373
first install mtk6575 driver in pc and then click bat file.
Sparky root didn't work with mine, I have to use the root root with restore by binary and it was rooted...thanks anyway. Do you know where can I find a custom rom (paranoid maybe) able to work with the mtk6575 chipset or now that my phone is rooted, how can I retrieve the binary blobs, vendor libs, device kernel and device tree?
Please help.

I have 10 same devices with this build : ALPS.ICS.MP.V2.26
7 inch with 2 sim dual camera with back flash.mtk 6575 2G.
>>>>>>All of them have problem charging when the are off tablet hangs and need to reset. but if turned on are OK. So I need to reset them during off powered charge.
I think charging animation in off mode has a bug!
What can I do? can I change the low level animation?
or I saw some other tablets automaticly turning on when I plug the charger.so is it possible to make the tablet automaticly turned on when plugged to charger???
The brand looks same as ALPS and it works as a 9220 mtk 6575 phone but it is 7 inch tablet.
hello, sorry for the late reply, I can change the gross icons and images using phothosop and using the update logo and bootanimation.zip. it is easy, you just have to upload to an external sd card the following files:
boot_logo
startup.bmp
battery.bmp
low_battery.bmp
use the update logo from external sd from recovery menu.
My two cents.
Gus
Any one know if it is possible to get a new screen for the ED88?

TCL P600 / Alcatel One Touch Snap 7025D Root and GAPPS

Root and GAPPS instruction for TCL P600
Since TCL P600, TCL P606 and Alcatel One Touch Snap 7025D are the same phones I just write about TCL P600 now. But it's working for both.
TCL P600 root package: http://www.4shared.com/zip/3HRtqraE/TCL_P600_Root.html
HowTo Root TCL P600:
- Extract the file
- Start the flash tool in extracted folder
- Make sure under options it is choosen “with battery”
- In FlashTool load scatter file contained in folder
- Click checkboxes of BOOTIMG and RECOVERY
- Doubleclick on BOOTIMG and refer to TCL-P600_130417__boot_patched_130508-162244.img
- Doubleclick on RECOVERY and refer to TCL-P600_130417__recovery_130508-162244.img

- Plug in usb in phone
- If you get a green circle from flash tool saying OK you’re ready with root shell
- Unplug phone and reboot into CWM
- Start Droidtools and plugin usb to phone again
- Install superuser of your choice into phone.
- Ready – you have full root to phone.
If you experience any problems please check if you used the right drivers. Please check drivers attached in folders. Only use them.
Here is the JB gapps zip for flashing with CWM: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
Full instruction of getting a well working TCL P600:
1. First of all I updated the phone with TCL updater to the latest firmware.
2. I rooted it as I described before.
3. I deleted lots of China Apps and also under system/media bootup sounds and some - for me - other stuff not needed in order to get more space on system partition.
4. I installed GAPPS through CWM. I did it with this one: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
After rebooting I got crash of google search. I ignored it and added my google account. After opening playstore then I got update for google search. After updating there is no crashing anymore.
All other gapps are working quite well. I tested GPS for the TCL P600 and was really suprised it works quite fast and accurate.
The only thing: There is no A-GPS setting. Let's say: There is no GPS setting at all. You can only switch GPS on and off. Settings are not included. Maybe this will be unlocked with a modded rom.
I'm now testing all functions in detail but up to now it works really great.
Hope you got it also up to this point. After all steps this phone is really perfect.

I don't know about porting possibility. I guess there is no way. This thread is not about changing the ROM but just how to root the TCL. There is no custom ROM out actually. So I don't see chances to port. Why should this be necessary? Is the stock ROM having problems?

Solved the problems.
I was able to upgrade wiht "TCL 2.7.4 Updater Setup.exe" the mobile software, I had the "TCL 2.7.9 Updater Setup.exe" version and this version told me it was updated. When I tested with 2.7.4 has recharged my sw and have gone back to the top, I rooted again with wiemerd instructions and now everything has worked correctly.

Thank you, i will try. I must install some other version of OS, official is fully bugged. After i used ROMs from xda for last 2 years, on my old phone, i forgot how bugged is official android.
There are so much crashes with official version, corupted SD card and so on...

I used kingo for root. Its really one click root tool. If your phone is rooted, you can restore to default. You can try to restore it with that tool.
Anyone know where to download Custom Boot Loader and Newer version of OS?
I have huge problem with this phone. There is all the time problem with memory card. I am using kingston class 10, 16gb memory but from time to time, after i take some picture or use default gallery, i get message that my memory card is corrupted. I need to restart phone and everything is ok, but sometimes it require even 3-5-7 restarts and its really anoying. Cant take pictures, use ringtone from memory cartd etc.
I tried with official updater but still use 4.2.1 version. Anyone have any newer custom rom?
Sorry for off topic but i am sure that this problems can be solved with some newer OS.

[GUIDE][ROOT][CWM] ARCHOS 97b Platinum HD

I came upon this device on Christmas (a gift from my girlfriend to her father) and wanted to root it and also install clockworkmod recovery, so I could mess with it a bit without bricking it. Since I found a lack of tailored guides for it, I decided to write this one, although I really did no actual development whatsoever. Normally I would be posting this on general, but given the spirit of this forum, I guess I'll just leave it here. Also, keep in mind I don't have the device anymore and am writing this from memory. If I missed anything or you have any doubts, please let me know (for example, I can't recall specifically the drivers I installed to make it work properly).
Please, please read the whole guide before trying anything, and if you are a novice user, just leave this be, I don't want you to turn your tablet into a paperweight because of my shoddy instructions written from memory and you probably don't need any of this anyway as there are no custom roms yet.
!!!DISCLAIMER!!!: As stated above, anything you do is at your own risk. I provided the procedures that worked for me on a Qilive 97r tablet, which is an Auchan branded ARCHOS 97b Platinum HD, so my step by step should work for all of you. There are probably easier ways to do this, and I hint at them in the guide, but beware I have not tried them and cannot vouch for them. In fact, I cannot and will not take any responsability if you brick your device following these instructions, correctly or otherwise. You do this at YOUR OWN RISK. You have been warned!
Rooting:
I followed this guide on Windows 7 x64 and it worked perfectly.
So thanks to dhigby for that. I would just like to make a couple of remarks:
When you get to step 7 (Installing Superuser by ChainDD), don't. Install SuperSU by Chainfire instead, Use it to update the superuser binary (I think a prompt shows up) and when asked, let it delete the "other" superuser applications, that is, the chinese one. Clean and easy, you don't need to follow any more steps.
Congratulations, you now have (english language) root!
Clockworkmod Recovery:
There is no specific recovery for this device. Fortunately, thanks to AndroTab.info, there's a generic version for 3188 devices that you'll see should work quite nicely, albeight with some caveats.
What works:
Nandroid backup to/from external SDCard (won't recognize internal)
Installing zip files should also work, although I didn't try it at the time, as the device wasn't mine and I can't since I don't have it anymore, but since it mounts system partitions perfectly well I wouldn't think there would be a problem. Try it at your own risk though.
Other things probably work, give it a try.
What doesn't work:
Internal SDCard access
Probably other things
Installation:
Now that you have a rooted tablet, installing clockworkmod recovery is easy-peasy. Go to developer options and enable USB Debugging, then make sure you have a working adb daemon (look it up) that recognizes your tablet.
NOTE: I'm not sure if I had to install any specific drivers for this to work, I think if so they were installed while rooting by the chinese app. Anyhow, here's the Rockchip drivers, you might want to try to install them if you can't get a connection: http://www.rockchip.nl/downloads/
Download the file RK30GENERIC_CWM.zip from here - that's the recovery.
Now extract flash_image and recovery.img from the downloaded file above to the folder where you have your adb and follow the following commands.
Push the files to /dev partition on the device:
Code:
adb push flash_image /dev/
adb push recovery.img /dev/
Then enter root shell, like so:
Code:
adb shell
su
Now flash recovery.img into recovery partition with flash_image:
Code:
chmod 755 /dev/flash_image
/dev/flash_image recovery /dev/recovery.img
Now power off your device. To enter recovery press volume down then the power button and keep them pressed until CWM boots. Voilá!
NOTE: The instructions above were adapted from here and all credit goes to AndroTab.info ; I posted these particular instructions because they are the ones I used and worked for me; there are other methods listed on that page which might or might not work, TRY THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Backing up your original recovery (for warranty, if anything goes wrong, etc.)
To obtain a backup image of your recovery \ restore it back afterwards, follow this guide here. All credit goes to Originalas.
Don't follow it to the letter though: first and foremost, you need a working linux installation. If you don't have one, I recommend Wubi.
Then:
Follow step 1;
Ignore step 2 (it's outdated);
Follow 3;
Follow 4 - but don't expect the screen to turn on, it won't, just hold the volume down button for 10 seconds or so after plugging it in, don't press the power button!
Ignore 5, 6 and 7
Follow 8, but don't use the last command to flash the CWM recovery onto the device. This is because since it is a generic version, it relies on the original recovery kernel. Flashing the image like stated in step 8 would probably overwrite the kernel and result in no recovery at all (I might be wrong about this).
Do follow the last command to restore your own backup if you ever need to.
I am unsure if recovery dumps obtained in this way are device specific; I don't see a reason why they should be, so I'll provide you with my own backup:
ORIGINAL RECOVERY
Flash through any method of your choice, but keep in mind I haven't tried this on other devices, so, as you know by now DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Closing remarks:
There you have it. Sorry for not holding your hand through every step, but this is meant for people who know a bit of what they're doing, making it faster than having to look up and figure out all these things and quirks on their own. If you have any doubts don't hesitate to ask, but keep in mind I don't have the device anymore and don't know much more than what I have written here. I do appreciate feedback and corrections, and will gladly change the guide giving you full credit - if it's really urgent just PM me, I might not check this thread often.
Cheers!

I wouldn't keep my hopes up on custom roms. The software is really bad and what it does with the hardware is terrible. It's like a bunch of chipmunks put the code together by randomly typing into a keyboard.
That said, the likelihood of a new kernel to fix that is next to nil. However, since the ROM is as far as I can tell pretty near stock, you can get a pretty good experience from the device by installing gravity box xposed module. I also recommend trickstermod and changing the governor to performance, as well as some kernel tweaking if you know what you are doing.
Also, very important, limit the amount of processes running in the background to 3 in dev settings or change the used memory limit to something like 1.2 gb. It has 2 gb of RAM, but, as I said, the ROM sucks, the system eats away a full gigabyte, and it doesn't effectively kill background apps, leaving you with a sluggish device if you multitask.
Anyway, those are just some ideas, if you have some more or would like to code for this device, feel free to share Also, as I always say, give it time. You never know who is gonna get they're hands on the device and do something amazing with it.

hi and thanx for the answer
yes i saw that it's almost stock but crappy optimized...in the very first start of the tablet i had 1.8gb occupied by nothing and clean master always notifies me that 90% of the ram is busy...meh
maybe just a kernel will fix like you say but you know, android 4.4 will be a must (rockchip already released sdk for 3188). I am not a coder (totally zero) but i will try your suggestion...just a question about the performance governor, does it drain more battery?
i am trying to backup my rom but cwm is so buggy...first was impossible, now i'm stuck on backing up boot image
there is a twrp available for this tablet?
solved

Hello, i need help , if somebody know where I can download original rom , and original installer, I will be thankful for that's.

Root + twrp + bootloader unlock + twrp flashable stock rom - marhsmallow

If you are on Lollipop, this guide is NOT for you!
Almost none of this is my work, I just collect it and put it together in one place and I'm writing a small how-to get things done.
PLEASE ONLY PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!!
ONLY FOR ZX551ML
Bootloader unlock:
Currently the only way I was able to get ROOT on the phone was by installing it from TWRP which required an unlocked bootloader, so the first step is to get the bootloader unlocked, to do this please follow this steps:
1) Enable USB debugging - If you do not know what is that and how to do it, you should probably STOP right here.
2) Download and extract: Unlock 6_ZX551ML.ZIP
3) From the extracted folder run unlock.bat (This will restart your phone into fastboot mode, downgrade the bootloader and unlock it)
4) When step 3 is completed, you need to run restore.bat
If everything went on correctly your boot screen should be inverted (white background, black Asus text). This was the most risky part. I only have my phone and it worked, but if something goes wrong here you might end up bricking your phone, so please take extreme care, always read the messages on the screen!!!!!
Custom Recovery:
1) Now to get a custom recovery, please download TWRP-3.0.2-M1-Z00A.img.
2) Put your phone into bootloader mode, if your phone is currently in use, just use the following commands:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Alternatively you can power off the phone, remove the USB cable. Power it back on while holding the volume up button.
3) once your phone if in bootloader mode please use the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP-3.0.2-M1-Z00A.img
4) Use the vol up & down to select "RECOVERY"
5) Use the power button (short press) to reboot to TWRP
ROOTING
1) Download BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328-patch-by-shakalaca-for-zenfone2-6.0_(1).zip
2) In recovery select Advanced -> Sideload
3) From your computer use the following commands:
Code:
adb sideload "BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328-patch-by-shakalaca-for-zenfone2-6.0_(1).zip"
4) Once it's completed installing, restart the phone to system
FLASHABLE STOCK ROM
If you have TWRP installed and you want to flash the latest stock ROM, you will need to, make sure you un-root your phone from the supersu app, reboot to recovery and sideload the zip. You can also copy the zip to your phone and install it from twrp. When installing the stock rom, your bootloader will be locked again, so you will need to unlock it (if you wish), also you will need to root again, because the root is lost. However the modified stock rom will NOT remove the custom recovery giving you freedom to flash whatever you like in the future...
XPOSED
Xposed on our device won't work if we have SuperSu installed. If you want to use Xposed modules you will need to use PHH's SuperUser instead. All files required for Xposed/Magisk/Phh's SuperUser are available in the Xposed folder.
Available modified stock rom versions:
UL-Z00A-WW-4.21.40.141-user-TWRP.zip - Updated: 2016-Oct-07
UL-Z00A-WW-4.21.40.197-user-TWRP.zip - Updated: 2016-Dec-16
Files can be downloaded from: here
Again, please proceed on your own risk.
Special tanks and credits to all the guys who made this possible, namely:
@sorg @social-design-concepts @shakalaca - For bootloader unlock
@jrior001 for the TWRP
@shakalaca - For the modified SuperSU package.

Yes I'm using Magisk, but even with it I wasn't able to use Google Pay. To get back to non inverted, you will need to flash the locked bootloader.

While essentially true the user can always use a different boot animation by flashing one via twrp. There might even be one somewhere of the unmodified asus screen.
Can anyone confirm the flashable Rom mentioned in Post #1 is MM 6.0.1? I ask because my phone upgraded itself right after I booted it up and I wondered if it was on a newer version than the downloadable one. Pretty sure the update was only security updates given it was only around 80mb.
The actuall boot screen is only a couple of seconds long while the boot animation shown

Well as usual the linux users drew the short straw. The shell script is for mac users. I decided to see about running the lines manually but never even reached the "danger zone". As soon as I did an "adb reboot bootloader" I followed up with "sudo fastboot devices" (some linux distro's need sudo..some don't)....and nothing shows up although I can clearly see the device is hooked up and in fastboot mode as well as the fact the adb reboot bootloader worked. I swap out one of my other devices and check things...they show up fine in fastboot....ok...so what's missing from this picture?
*update* solved by updating the ubuntu adb and fastboot binaries from here: https://github.com/simmac/minimal_adb_fastboot/tree/master/linux
*update2* bootloader unlocked, supersu flashed and verified. Much appreciated.
I ran the bootloader unlock and it appeared to work. Now it keeps booting back into the bootloader. I can't seem to get it to boot normal. Suggestions?
Nevermind, I didn't realize that I needed to run restore.bat while still in the bootloader. It is booting now! I was able to follow your guide and it is now rooted.
Regarding the marshmallow zip you include. I have a couple questions.
- For the modified stock version that will keep the recovery do I just need to flash it from recovery?
- Do I need to unroot before flashing this modified stock marshmallow?
Thanks!

Regarding the zip, yes flash from recovery and you don't need to unroot before, but you will need to root after flashing.
However I do suggest you make a backup before flashing jsut in case....

I'm assuming the file is just for folks who are on lollipop who want to upgrade? Didn't see any need to flash it since already on 6.0.1 and have it rooted...unless I'm missing something again.
I read this after I went to 6.0.1 from Asus's manual download and update process. I can't get ADB to connect in the OS (developer mode never displays, even though it tells me I'm a developer after doing kernel ver. button process). I tried to get adb devices -l in fastboot and recovery, and it wont discover it. I've tried multiple windows drivers (including the one that worked when I flashed the firmware the first time) to no avail. Any ideas?

If windows doesn't see the phone when in recovery there is something wrong, this can be:
1) Wrong driver
2) Damaged USB cable
3) Damaged USB port.
When you are in recovery you should see the phone with adbm if you are in fastboot you should see the phone with:
Code:
fastboot devices
If nothing works you have the nuclear option.
Manually download the original firmware from Asus website: https://www.asus.com/support/Download/39/1/0/26/BXbNqJplzZiLmk6G/32/
copy the zip to an Sd card.
1) Now Turn Off your phone and boot into recovery mode by pressing Power+Volume UP.
2) Now in recovery mode choose to apply update from sdcard.
3) Now select the zip file.
4) Now wait until the process complete and then Reboot the phone.
5) Done!

More or less true, but somehow I was on a 6.0.1 version which is now gone from the firmware list of Zenfone, meaning I have updated from 6.0.1 to 6.0.1
Again now I see there is a new firmware released yesterday if I have the time I will patch that system image as well so it can be upgraded with TWRP.

Yes I was surprised to find out that there is almost no zoom community.

I'm actually enjoying mobile managers auto startup managing...it's done a good job of keeping 10000 things from running at startup that don't need to although "Startup Manager" would do a similar job for free. I'm liking the zenui launcher and calling screen so don't want to break anything related to that...the phone's been performing exceptionally well for days on end with no required reboots. Been very impressed. Previously been fighting with a T-mobile V10 and an Alcatel Idol 3...the v10 had spontaneous reboots...the idol had a stock rom with a bunch of lag in it....tiny to nothing development on both of those.
What about Zentalk, ZenChoice, PhotoCollage, MyAsus Service center, Clean Master, Audiowizard and Bug Reporter?

I use tasker for that, but yes I agree as a whole is not bad, this is my 4rd Asus product (Zenfone 4, Zenfone 2, Zoom and Zenpad) and overall I'm quite impressed with how they perform, just the support from Asus isn't really the top of the cream... they released MM when other were releasing N... so yeah a bit of sour taste, otherwise happy. And the camera, I think it's brilliant, not the best on the market, but the optical zoom is cool, as well as the camera app which allows you to do some nice manual shooting.

Well from the lack of posts it appears you and I ARE the zenfone zoom community. Any idea where the system updates get stored after downloading? I thought in /cache based on regular zenfone posts but was unable to see it. I've got one available but it has to be modified for twrp compatibility as well as unrooting temporarily.

I have had this ZUK2 phone around 8 months, and really to be honest i don't like it, and regret my purchase, i purchased it from Gearbest in China and since day one never gelled with it.
It is bog stock except what G/B loaded on it, issues... has pop ups/spam, some of the text is still in Chinese etc, some of the apps don't work, i cannot delete them
Anyway, as a phone works great, so i lived with it, but now i have kinda "bricked" it [blue screen with logo]. The phone had a ZUK official update app on it but it never worked in AUS as needs to be in China to work..... so fast forward
While @ Shanghai airport wifi internet the update did load and that is where and when it "bricked" [blue screen/logo] happened, it never opened after the download, in-fact i could not even turn the phone off to get on the plane, and it was getting mighty hot [shades of Galaxy Note 7 ] who's idea of non remove battery?
So now i do not understand anything about Twerp?/India Rom, USB blahhblahhblah, i took it to the local guy, he only does Iphones and Samsung, dead end
What i want to do, is ask nicely if anybody here is AUS has the knowledge to reload all the software back onto the phone, latest ZUK update and latest android version and make it work... Even pay a fair and reasonable fee [plus return post] to fix my sick phone and make it work, would be kool!!
I know i have lost all my photos, contacts, apps etc, does not matter, moving on, just want it to work
Thanks if anybody can reach out and help
With regards :good:

In all-in-all honesty I can do it remotely for you on a live-call and remotely doing everything on your PC with your phone connected via USB cable. No need. Zuk Z2 has really friendly procedure to do it all, return to stock or the stock-android experience.
In-Technical Terms:
I have to unbrick your phone by restoring it to stock firmware, then unlocking its bootloader, downloading nad running TWRP recovery on it and then to a tailored firmware of your needs without any Chinese bloatware/adware.
Free of cost ofcourse.
I understand all the issues related to privacy etc but I assure you everything I'd do remotely, you'll be able to do it yourself once you see how its done. No gimmicks involved.
I have my brother who lives near NSW but he works double shifts and hardly has any time to fiddle around with stuff other than his work, eating and sleeping. I'm from Pakistan btw.
PM me and I'll get your phone fixed without charging you a single penny, using your own PC remotely and your very own hardware. With every instruction to fix it by yourself if in-case a problem arises in future.

Hello man, your problem is that you installed official update on custom ****ty Chinese rom.
Probably you had MM ROM, with a lot of bloatware
It doesn't surprise me you don't like the phone, which is BTW great
I can send you my instructions, you need 1h time, patience, and some computer knowledge. Windows 10 would be nice.
If you don't have these requirements than try with those local gys but probably all of them will tell you, how's your phone name, ZuuuK, what?
And I also recommend custom rom. You would like this phone much more than you like it now. I had same opinion like you when I got it. Was so bored with stupid ZUI system. Than I realized how strong support this phone has and started flashing custom roms, which literally made me love this phone

Hello. many thanks for the reply
Yes, i agree, i updated in China on a international/export tweaked phone
Anyway been phone-less for near a month, interesting
On the 23rd Chinese New Year is over, i will see what G/B come back with.
And yes, if not too much trouble please post here or email me the step by step instructions, cannot hurt to at least have a look and see, many thanks for this.
PS/ Looks i am one of very few who purchased a ZUK2 in AUS
Thanks again champ
To be honest the experience of Zuk Z2 Plus with ZUI ROM ( STOCK ROM ) is worst, it's worst that i ended up unlocking bootloader, installing TWRP and flashing a Custom RoM on Day 1 itself
This phone is a beast, it's like this phone was made to run on Custom Roms.
I'd say you should once you'll be able to bring the phone back to life, unlock the bootloader and flash a TWRP and install some nice OREO ROM for example AEX 5.2 by Davidevinavil.
Also, Can you try this:
*Phone must be switched Off*
Press and Hold Volume Up and Down button
And at the same time plug in the Charger USB cable in your phone.
Tel me what it shows

Hi
Not sure that can be done as when i turn on the phone, as its flat, but when charged it starts ok, goes on blue/screen logo, and that's all
But THEN it wont switch off, i have to wait till it flattens the battery [it gets very hot BTW] and then back to square one
The only way i could turn it on is charge it first, i swear this phone has a devil inside it
Any of your Indian brothers here in AUS have this phone?
Many thanks for your support!
Regards
Charge it a bit, like 30 mins
Unplug and try to press all Power, Volume (up & down) together for like 5-10 seconds
It should switch off, but don't press anything after that it'll wake up again if you do.
If you are successful to switch it off , you can try the above method i mentioned in my previous post to bring it to Fastboot/bootloader mode.
After that it's all easy to get started
Detailed post to go back to stock (before bootloader unlock -> TWRP Recovery -> Custom ROM):
https://zukfans.eu/community/threads/howto-flash-a-stock-zui-rom-zuk-z2-z2131-only.104/
To Summarize:
1. Preparing
- Have pre-requisite software (QPST flashing software)
- Have all the drivers installed (ZUK Usb drivers, as well as Qualcomm QHUSB Drivers, detailed instructions are within the post)
- Have the Firmware file downloaded which u will install on your phone via QPST Flashing software: In your case, it's indian QPST flash-able firmware: https://mega.nz/#!4xIGVSJQ!iN2JUA_eyYX9m35Pt3ife9iIBcGi_9CNPWUUqxpkFiY which is marshmallow
- Extract the above firmware into some place safe where you will navigate later when giving the software instructions to make your phone reborn.
2. Making phone ready
- Make sure your phone was put to charging for atleast an hour before carrying out the next steps
- While your phone is turned off, Press and hold Vol - and Power button together and quickly insert the USB cable (which is already connected to your PC). If that's successful you can check the connection by going to Device Manager or simply checking status of QPST software
Rest of the instructions are on the main post which i linked earlier. It's really easy to do if you know your ways around using windows
In-case something is ambiguous to you, you can ask me directly. I've sent you my skype id on PM

Here Is my instructions
Other members told you how to get in fastboot
There reboot into edl mode (mode for qfil, to flash stock ZUI rom)
Everything you have in those instructions mate
Use Google translate, read slow, I believe in you
Its not hard, just do it slowly, don't jump over some step cuz you will have bricked phone
Wish you luck Aussie
And I believe you are maybe 0.01 % of people having ZUI phone done there ))
Download QPST once ,install it and open "QFIL.exe" , connect your Phone to PC via USB, if the QFIL app shows that a port has been connected , then this is same case as mine and you can easily make the phone work like a beast again in one hour!
Side note - Also download and install ADB , Qualcomm USB and Zuk USB drivers and then check again! You will need these all eventually!

Hey mate, Z2 user in Australia here. It's probably just the two of us.
Custom ROMs are messy and prone to unexpected issues. At some point you're going to have to fiddle with it when it spontaneously bricks. If you weren't the one to set it up, you'll find it tricky or impossible to do maintenance/fixes yourself.
My advice is (especially for a phone worth as little as this one is) - follow the relatively straightforward guides on flashing stock, unlocking the bootloader, and loading on a new ROM. It shouldn't take more than an hour. I don't recommend sticking with the stock China ROM.
If you really **** it up and have no idea what you've done wrong, I'd be happy to take a look at the phone (for free). Though I'm in Sydney, not Melbs.

Lol, about what custom rom are you talking about ?
Final nougat releases are great, especially AEX, Viper etc
This phone with Zui is catastrophic, no wonder for such bad comment's
Couldn't believe how good it is with custom roms, using it for months now like that, nothing messy here, Don't spread desinformations please
If he sends you phone, put him latest AEX OREO with GZR Gapps
Also Google camera, BSG versions from 4pda , I'm using v1a and it's great

Lmao, the only thing missing from this comment is an Androidify profile pic.
OP, you're gonna wanna be confident enough to flash your own custom ROM updates and suss out any issues that crop up. Chinaphones, even higher tier ones like the Z2, are not set-and-forget devices.
