I just watched a video on on the HTC U11+ and it looks pretty amazing - Larger battery, Wireless charging, Micro SD slot, Oreo with Sense, comparable bezel size. This device is being announced tomorrow.
What do you think?

It's been announced. Doesn't have wireless charging I think but apart from that it's a pretty solid device ?
I thought they said they saw a coil of some sort in the translucent model.
They thought the coil was for wireless charging.
I'm a Google fanboy so my opinion is always going to be biased. I would personally go with the pixel 2. Vanilla Android, great hardware, monthly updates and hopefully a great development community.

It has been announced and it looks like it's not even an option for US customers. Glad I grabbed the 2 XL and didn't wait for this.

It was announced a few hours ago and the coil at the back is the NFC band NOT for wireless charging.

Yes, what a bummer, and it is not coming to the US anyway. Seems like it could be a great phone...
I was considering a 2XL return for the 11+ but since I can't get it here that makes my decision easier. I've had 5 HTC phones in the past. Looks like a really solid phone I hope it sells well and they end up bringing it over here.
I'm biased towards software/security update speeds. That's honestly my only bias. Otherwise I was always a fan of the Sense UI and HTC Phone design.
I've had HTC Phones all the way from the HTC Evo on Sprint, all the way until the HTC M8. After the M8 i went to Nexus 6P and haven't looked back due to software upgrade/update speeds
HTC make great hardware but I'll never buy from that company again. I've been burned twice by promised updates then them dropping support completely from a device within a year.
Will the u11+ get much support for custom ROMs ? If so what about AOSP ROMs ?
Thanks
U11 plus. No screen issues

I would say treble would help. In the end it's expensive to keep updating phones hence why companies drop support so quickly. They lose money through all the testing and certifications and potentially lose a sale the next year (why buy a new phone when my current one is up to date). It's something rolled into the cost of Pixels that everyone forgets about. 3 years promised OS and monthly security updates is an expensive ass promise. You're not just paying for hardware.
I'm fortunate enough to be in the UK, but this announcement really threw me. I've got my 64GB Panda on preorder, but I'm seriously tempted to switch. There'd be no blue shift or potential screen issues, twice as much storage (and expandable by another 2TB), 2GB more RAM, IP68 and a camera that was only beaten by the Note and Pixel 2! All for £100 LESS than my preorder!
I'm actually struggling to find a reason NOT to cancel my preorder, except for HTC Sense and regular updates. Don't care about modding really, just want a phone that works!

Couldn't agree more. This device looks really great but I currently have the HTC 10 and here in Europe we only received one (security) update since February. Despite my phone having serious battery issues with android 7.0. Apart from that HTC sells the phone and then doesn't care about its customers. It's a shame because they really make great hardware, but at that price I also expect good software support. I am now waiting for my pixel XL 2 to arrive in mid November :fingers-crossed:
I am thinking of canceling the XL-2 order and get a U11+. The quality control of XL-2 seems a bit worrying.
There seems to be official bootloader unlock for U11+? If so, we can flash AOSP so there won't be difference with Pixel.
But I like the Google GPU and USB-PD on Pixel.
Why Google chose taimen but not muskie

I'm about to buy an LG G3 for 350 euros. (16 Gb, black)
I don't want to buy another mobile phone within at least 2-3 years as I'm starting high studies and I won't have much to spend then, but I really need a mobile that can handle everything and can last a lot.
Do you think it's worth it or is there another mobile coming soon that's better? Is it going to be supported by the community for a long time?

One can always wait for the next great product.
If you like the features then get the phone. It has gotten good reviews and has a good reputation here.
Go for it. This phone should last you the amount of time you want it to without it feeling outdated by the 1 year mark. Hard to say what will be our in 3 years but I plan to keep mine for to better part of 3 years.
I'd wait and see if there's gonna be a new nexus phone with L or go for the N5. This phone lags sometimes, has pretty low development activity (yeah, I know the reason, no complaint but a fact). After my nexus 4, I should've gone with the N5. The G3 is an okay phone in my opinion and looks sexy but the wow factor is missing for me...
The phone is great ..... but its really what you want your phone for and whether it fits those particular needs, I'm afraid there is no absolute answer, its about your needs and whether this phone fits them or another is more suitable.
I would advise research and checking it out and the competition, sorry no easy answers.

I'll try to tell you my history, from a person that doesn't change their phone every 3 months, or.. in a better way, a xda-user exception.
Got the Gnexus almost on the end of its lifespan (4 months before Nexus 4 release). It lasted 2 years when I gladly changed it to LG G3.
I saw a lot of reviews to after choose LG G3. What you will see outside is questions about the battery life due to the "unnecessary" QuadHD display.
Having a Gnex for 2 years is undoubtedly a nice school for battery life and screen on time use...
I really don't care about that after having that phone for 2 years.. and in every aspect besides battery life, LG G3 wins (for me).
So, tl:dr, buy it without doubt, grab a spare battery if you care so much. The design and the display of LG G3 destroy every other phone released till today.

Well, yeah, if you can't wait, go into a shop and try it, play around with it and decide how it feels for you. At end it's gonna be u using it I'm not happy with it but I'm okay with it personally. Only reason I got it is that I broke my nexus 4 and got a good deal on it from my SP. Otherwise I was thinking about ordering a nexus 5. Had it in my hand, used it before, I just simply love nexus phones for aosp android, quick updates knowing Google is behind it and if they screw something up in the software they will be quick to release a fix while manufacturers won't be, and to be honest they make shifty UI except Sony imo but I had 2 Xperia phones, both were flagship devices and both sucked.
But as said before, it's your own personal preference. Try it in a shop and you'll see it for yourself. It looks really sexy with the huge display with the tiny bezels and reminds me of the nexus 5 a bit as well. Though I miss my aosp android experience and the quick updates. I however appreciate for instance the IR control and the camera.

The Note 3 was announced early last September and released at the end. Samsung staff have been told there's going to be no annual leave around the middle of Septemeber, the correlates to what happens around their releases. There's no way they'd wait over a month from when they announce to being on sale.
The G3 struggles with the 801 powering it. Check out the videos of a comparison of the G3 805 Vs G3 801. Check out the articles on Samsung's new QHD screen technology also,it uses less power. There may be other better phones out later this year or next but it would be mad to buy an 801 QHD phone when the other major companies are about to release their 805 versions.

Would love to read about their new screens using less power, do you have a link?
While nothing is set in stone about the HTC One M10 (except that there will be one this Spring/Summer), EvLeaks just dropped some information, including:
According to EvLeaks, this is what it looks like from the front. (Imgur link; Twitter in source 3.)
It's going by the name HTC Perfume, which is believed to be released as HTC One M10
It's running HTC Sense 8 and Android 6.0.1
5.1" QHD (1440p) AMOLED screen
Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage
23GB of internal storage available for use; microSD card slot available
12-Ultrapixel camera on the back with OIS (laser focus). Fingerprint reader on the front. No word on IR blaster. No Boomsound, no front-facing speakers
Won't be shown at Mobile World Congress next month. It'll have its own announcement
[Source] [source] [source]
M8 users, will you stay with HTC?
If theres no front facing stereo speakers, i hope to they should place speakers to top and bottom on device. Thats why i buy htc. Otherwise, i'll go on Sony.
I'm curious if the leaked details will pan out, but I'm not holding much hope. Might have to go nexus

Unlocked version allowed on all major carriers (Verizon/ATT/Tmobile/Sprint) and I'm sold... Preferably around $600 mark. So we don't have to wait crazy long times for software updates/security patches.
Carrier locked devices have gotten to me lately, especially with new rate of googles security patches. It's insane how long it's taking us to even get a marshmallow release date... let alone get marshmallow.
But simply talking about hardware itself, and leaving the software out of the equation, HTC has the best designs in my opinion.
Bought my M8 on contract so I can't do anything until December anyways.
But...
Definitely whatever phone I get will have dual front facing speakers. Speakers on the back or bottom just suck once you've lived with dual front facing speakers.
I've head a lot of headaches with my M8, mostly being the keyboard disappearing two to three times a day (messenger+, G+, Whatsapp, Chrome) which requires a reboot to fix. I've tried different keyboards, still happens.
Every time Android System Webview updates something goes wrong, sometimes I lose my keyboard, sometimes things stop opening, a few times it was WiFi. Uninstalling it and reinstalling it fixes the issue with an additional reboot.
Its not just me, the brother in law and my sister both have M8s as well, same issues, both have exchanged their phones multiple times.
Now HTC has done wonderful with the brother in law's M8 customer service and replaced his phone twice, once when it overheated and the screen warped, once when it bent. They didn't fight with him, they just sent him new phones and he said he loves their customer service but finds the phone way too buggy for his tastes and wants to go back to Samsung when his contract is up. Same with the sister.
I loved HTC when I bought my first Android, an EVO. That thing worked like a dream and the 3rd day I owned it I was in a car accident and it flew out of my shirt pocked and stuck a half inch into the dashboard. Seriously, Amazing phone.
I WANT to stick with HTC, but unless they start fixing their buggy software I'm going to be heading out as well. Project Fi and a Nexus might be in my future.
I'm going to be really bummed by the lack of Boomsound speakers. Every time I show my friend's a video on my M8 they remark how great the sound is with the stereo front facing speakers. It was one of the major differences that set HTC above the rest, including Apple. I think the iPhone's mono bottom speaker is awful TBH.
I'll probably upgrade to the M10 though, even with this downgrade. I'm really looking forward to the fingerprint unlock. I wish HTC could solve the "wireless charging through metal body" issue though. I can't believe my DNA could do that in 2012 while the M10 can't in 2016.

I had the m7 and really loved that phone, I also had the m8 and wasn't quite so fussed on it. I skipped on the m9 and went for the Nexus 6. One of my favourite phones of all time, bar the HTC HD2!!! I am really thinking about coming back to HTC. The 10 looks awesome!
First post with "What we know" could maybe be updated with latest news and details about the HTC 10
What's the latest on water resistance? none, 50% chance, 80%, 90%?
Spend a lot of time near water, so this is a must (and no, not interested in bulky waterproof case). Currently on Galaxy S5, just got the S7, but the locked BL is a big turnoff. Hoping 10 will be a home run - with some IP6x rating and camera that can match or better the S7.
I'd like to see a "maybe, depending how it actually turns out" option. I cancelled our AT&T S7 Edge orders due to the locked bootloaders. If HTC keeps its openness, I may pick up another one.
But I can't say yes or no until I see how it actually shakes out.
New #powerof10 tweet says "Here comes the new boom. You’ll hear it. #powerof10" via HTC USA. Wonder if this pretty much puts the "no boomsound" thing to rest?

I think all you Pixel lovers are going to be in for a rude surprise when these start failing in large numbers like the Nexus 6P did. This phone is poorly engineered and runs way too hot internally. Unless Google has managed to reinvent the wheel high temperatures and electronic components have never been a good combination. The Pixel also has truly dreadful speakers. The 6P sounded so much better Google should really be ashamed. They're charging 300 dollars more for a device that runs much hotter than the 6P and which actually sounds worse than a garbage phone that my friend got for 30 dollars at the Cricket Store. I honestly think Pixel owners are in complete denial when it comes to this phone. Yeah the Pixel runs fast and smooth but the CPU gets so hot to achieve that performance that you'll probably have to buy a new Pixel every two years.
I have no problem with Pixel manufacturing or design, aside from the frame not being glued to the screen in the top right corner, which every Pixel device has, no idea why.
My problem with Pixel is that it is a dumb phone compared to something like Note or even Galaxy. All it does is browse the internet, that's it. It does browse very fast, but I could have gotten an iPhone if I wanted a fast dumb phone...
Not a bright OP really, stuttered to figure the English out anyway.
No, not tired of the phone, seven months old mine, and I love it. Best android phone I've ever owned, all I ever wanted was smooth android and Pixel is the first one fulfilling my need, so I'm gonna keep it for as long as I can unless I am really sold to the next iteration. Garbage UI like Samsung and LG's exists, making Pixel the so much better phone anyway.
Pardon the troll above mine, as always.
Lmao the fact people can't take a joke and differentiate between a joke and seriousness is sad.... my op was a serious question all of you who had to make a attempt at being funny ruined a real conversation. It's funny that's y'all was ok with being a prick till it got turned around on you. This is the internet so best not get offended over pettiness. I still stand by my op. It's sad you can't have a conversation these days without some smart as es who gotta ruin it for everyone.....
The pixel could have been alor better idc who you are but is my opinion you could have contributed to this post instead you had to try and be funny. As for the conversation it's still open is like to hear you thoughts

Have you any idea how ridiculous your op is? There was no insult I was just mirroring your mature thoughts about growing old. Leave it at that and buy another device. You're getting older and this device is just not for old folks.

Not for old folks? I'm 76 and loving the rooting and romming of my Marlin. But now that I know it's not for old folks I guess I'll have to get rid of it and dig out the old Star-Tac.
Ok so most of us has had our pixels for a few weeks now, do you think it's worth $900. Honest answers please.....
Absolutely. It has everything I want in a phone and has the exact form factor I want it in(I hate edge display and am not a fan of bezel-less deisgns from day to day use). I'm getting a minimum of 3 years of OS updates, 3 years of monthly security updates, chat or phone call support, and unlimited full resolution photo uploads. It's going to take something really magical to come out for me to switch to another device. I thought the 6P would fit the bill for a long term device for me, but that S10 was a throttling POS. Thought the original Pixel would have been a long term phone, but I REALLY missed front facing stereo speakers. Any other phones out there will not be supported over 3 years and I refuse to get burned by a company that drops support on their products again. Is this device perfect out of the box.....no. Then again not one phone is. Most of the issues reported are not anything I notice in day to day use or I have remedied myself( for example using the original Pixel cable for Android Auto stopped the crashes). I love it.
The definition of value is what a willing buyer is prepared to pay to a willing seller.
The seller is definitely willing, duh, so... the answer is that it is worth the price to everyone who bought one without being under duress.
Hardware worth the value? Absolutely not,
but Software worth the value, Yes as @AndrasLOHF said. I agree especially with front-facing speaker. Stock, fast, unlockable bootloader, Unlimited photo storage etc. I have one so I can run stock latest android software this year, and the camera.
as a owner, i'd say its overpriced. if you win the screen lottery its overall a great phone, but its hard to justify it in a pure cost comparison to an iphone 8+ or a galaxy s8+. I just happened to like pure android and the developer community of nexus/pixel phones, so thats the only reason i can justify the price, but i wouldn't recommend it to family or friends unless i knew they were android enthusiasts.
Absolutely for me especially with the trade in... which makes it a more reasonable price!
Like front ? ?, Stock, fast, unlockable bootloader, and unlimited photo storage...
Yes, I think it is worth the asking price... For me it's the only natural progression from my 6P (personally, the best phone I've owned) which includes 3 years of updates /upgrades..

I totally agree with you, pure Android is the reason went ahead and purchased the 2 xl coming from the essential phone. The essential phone is a beautiful phone, now that it has 8.0 I almost hate I purchased the pixel now
Nope, but it's worth $575 which is what I'll cost me after getting $425 back from T-Mobile

Probably not worth $900. None of the phones out are. They all do what your last phone did. Every phone discounts soon after launch. The early adopters pay the high amounts. Samsung BOGO, or savings off the note 8 if you had a note 7. Essential discounted after release. Lg discounted after release. Pixel 2 $375 just to bring it Tmobile. Just wait a month once the phone you want comes out. Tough I know but some of the pixel 2 are already cheaper on swappa then the Google store.
Lucky for me I found a guy selling the pixel 2 xl on craigslist for $700 but I offered him $500 and he text me back a day later asking for $550 ?. Been loving it ever since, currently got my essential phone on eBay and it's up to $450 with a day to go.
Is it worth 900? Everything inside of me says NO however I bought the thing, I love it and I would buy it again if I broke or lost this phone. So I guess money speaks louder than words in this scenario. The software just blows everything else out of the water. Id love to have the Iphone Xs 4k @ 60fps, The LG V30's SD card slot, headphone jack and quad dac but I would still pick the pixel 2 XL over any of those due to the overall experience.
In Switzerland it's 1 109 Dollar, very expensive but i love it so far

+1. That being said, compared to the other phones out there, I don't think $900 is a good value for the phone., especially with all this QC problems As for me, I have this dumb urge to buy the newest tech.
It's not worth its price, and I knew it when I bought it.
I bought it nevertheless, and I'm pretty satisfied. The camera is absolutely great on 8.1 DP2 with HDR+. Magisk also works fine flawlessly.
Everything is smooth and fast, also GPS is working very well. Battery runtime is also great.
The only problem I have is with the BT connection with my car. Media playback doesn't work at all, phone calls work when I switch to airplane mode before turning on BT after starting my car, though.
Overall, I'd buy it again, I assume Google will fix the BT stack eventually.

I think that quality control problems are massively overblown.
Mine, for the record, is flawless. Have NOT done any exchange.
I think that there are two things that are contributing to people's perceptions being skewed on these (which isn't to say that there aren't a few that are genuinely defective).
1) It is a little bit weird when you suddenly find yourself looking through a circular polarization filter. It does cause a slight color shift at hard angles.. but that's the nature of having a circular polarization filter, which is a tradeoff for people who wear polarized glasses so that they can actually see it at all orientations. I suspect that people who do a few trade-ins eventually get used to the effect, which is why their final replacement is probably not as "bad" as the first one. I know that I've gotten so used to it now that I have to intentionally look for it now... oh yeah, that's what it does!
2) The application drawer has a very slight transparency to it. That means that you can see the image behind it very slightly -- and it looks like burn-in.

You can't have it both ways. If you decided to buy it, then IT IS worth the price. That is a technical fact.

The BT issues are affecting EVERYTHING running 8.x, and they are quite aware of it, so yeah, I would anticipate that they get sorted out fairly soon. Hopefully.
I picked up a Pixel 2 XL during Verizon's $300 off promotion. I also have a Note 8 to compare it to. I don't think any phone, especially the iPhone X, is worth $900-1000. A more reasonable amount would be $600-700 and payment plans play a big role in the upped prices this year. The OnePlus 5T at $300+ less than other flagships with similar specs, also makes you wonder. The Note 8 does feel more premium than the Pixel 2 XL, but the software experience on the Pixel 2 XL is the best I've ever seen.
A good indication of where thing are heading is that one can get a brand new LG G5 for $230, an S7 for $400, or an S8 for $575. Getting last year's models or waiting until a phone has been out 6 months is especially cost effective.

No.
I did not want a Samsung or LG anymore, I wanted something with good developer support.
So when I changed my contract I could get a new phone. Samsung and LG were out, OnePlus was not available at T-Mobile Germany. The Nokia 8 has a locked bootloader. So the choice was between the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The OnePlus 5T without contract was more expensive than the Pixels with contract.
So I shelled out €400, what else should I have done?

I hope so, so far I haven't managed to get Bluetooth audio playback working in my car.
It's worth the 765 I paid, plus the trade in for my P XL makes it a reasonable enough upgrade at 350.
So, I can now use my beautiful Huawei Watch again. Oneplus 6 doesn't have the BT bug, which I also knew Samsung fixed a while back.
Google needs to really fire their BT programmers.
Bug riddled software, be gone!
This is the watch, check it out:

hmmm, duplicate post?
Yep Pixel's are just Beta test for OEM's lol
Been using an OG Pixel XL since like a month after they launched and never had a single issue with Bluetooth. My Pebble used to disconnect from my Nexus 6 constantly, never on my Pixel XL and my Ticwatch E works flawlessly too.
Also, what does Samsung have to do with OnePlus..?

I have been happy with every flagship phone I owned since 2009. I also had a Note 7, which was an exceptional phone, aside from the sabotage that ended its life. Pixel XL has been the only crap flagship I owned, which I got to replace the Note 7. OP6 is a breath of fresh air compared to that Google garbage of bug nightmare.
But that's just my take on it, and why would I brag about bugs in the OP6 forum? Bugs belong where they originate, the bug swamp. Welcome to the party, and good-bye.

Good Lord you whine like a baby giraffe. I mean they probably whine. I have no first have knowledge. Let's assume. Anyway man, you're not adding anything to the forums here you're just complaining. I suggest you pack your bags and head on over to the forum of the phone you have and stop trolling. And I'm only suggesting out of love. Your father would've wanted it this way.
