Does the Mix or mix 2 have the best battery life? - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Questions & Answers

I'm looking for a new phone and I saw the Mi Mix and the Mi Mix 2, so I was wondering if the Original Mix or the Mix 2 has the best battery life and how much better is it?

The mix 2 has excellent battery life.

I had the mix 1. Though it was awesome battery life (battery was huge on that beast) the Mix 2 in comparison is fine. I was honestly a little worried since the battery was smaller. The overall user experience is so much better overall with the 2 I honestly cannot recommend the one though for just the battery life.

I'd say I average about 36 hours battery life with the Mi Mix 2. That's with about 3 hours of SOT.

i have the two devices and battery life is the same for us

Refined?
All speak of the 1 as a better looking phone

It may look better because the bezels look relatively thinner (same amount of food, different size plates comparison)
Smaller battery but also slightly smaller screen so power consumption may still be similar. And perhaps a more efficient CPU?

Will the XL have just good or great battery life ?

I will say this, I'll bet the Pixel XL, actually will have pretty good battery life.
I briefly had the LG G5 and HTC 10, which use the SD820 + 4GB RAM, and both were rooted and ROM'd, and shockingly they both gave me some very impressive battery life for those sized phones.
And with the Pixel having similar hardware, and underclocked SD821 ( being a good thing ). And running Android 7.1 with the better Doze than what those above MM phones had, and the larger 3,450mAh battery, I'm betting the Pixel XL does great for battery life.
My Nexus 6P is no better than my old Note 5 battery wise. Even though the N5 had a smaller battery my 6P just matches it, doesn't best it. I get ok battery life on my 6P. With kernel tweaks and everything maximized, I get like 5.5h ScreenOn time. And that's with the phone heavily modified to give best battery life, and it's good, but not amazing or great.
Here's hoping the Pixel XL offers some great battery life.
I think a lot of 2015 phones batteries were really bad because the SD808 and SD810 chips. Didn't they have some serious issue with destroying battery life? I owned the 6p for about 5 months, but finally got rid of it because I couldn't take the battery life anymore. It was just horrendous for the battery size. Turned me off of Google and Android for a bit. There's no reason why it should have been that bad, unless of course the 810 chips were just bad. I'm in the same boat as you. The Pixel XL is really my last hope in Google and Android.
I'm very particular about battery life, and I'm hoping the battery life on the Pixel XL is not just good, but great. I see no reason why it shouldn't be. I mean come on, you're running the latest software, on a device made specifically for it, which they keep barking about everything being "built in". They're using an under clocked 821. The only reason I can see it for eating battery is if they keep data collection services running 24/7, which I imagine they might want to do, since it's their first real Google phone, and they'll want to collect as much information as possible. Or perhaps the assistant will eat away at the battery for some reason. To be honest, I'm sceptical about the Pixel XL battery life ever since I got burned by the 6p.
It frustrates me that I have to install a custom rom to get a battery life the phone is capable of. My latest phone is the S7 Edge, which was getting me about 4 hours of SOT. I threw a custom rom on there that not only improves function and performance, but also provides me with 8.5 hours of SOT with the same usage patterns. Why? It's just not right. Why can't the multibillion dollar companies, employing the best engineers and software developers in the world provide a better OS and battery out of the box than 90% of the roms posted on this site?
Now we wait on benchmarks and reviews.
I, too, am concerned about the battery life. I'm coming from a Nexus 6 which I've always gotten decent battery with -- around 4.5 hours SOT. I'm really hoping the Pixel can push that to 5.5 or even 6.
I was recently gifted an LG v10 and the battery life on that thing was horrid. About 2 hours SOT. Here's hoping Google works some magic!
Had Nexus 6, Note 7, the Pixel will have phenomenal battery life.

Sources? Or are you just speculating?
As Frankiefaithful said the 821 is clocked no higher than the 820 and I'd like to think that is in the name of improving battery efficiency by lowering the voltage and thermal throttle. I hope there are many other software optimisations since they've spent most of their time and effort on software, I understand that Google worked closely with Qualcomm on the pixel so there may very well be many improvements in the OS to run the processor efficiently. Furthermore given that the battery is the same size as the 6P, the screen slightly smaller and all the above specualtions I would hope the battery is going to be Incredible.
The guy on reddit who had all his posts deleted said he was at 5hrs SOT with 53% left after a heap of benchmarks. I take this with a pinch of salt but it could be a good sign.
Pretty good article chronicalling what has been found so far.

Good find. Thanks.
It does look promising. All I know is, right now I'm averaging 8 hours of SOT on the S7 Edge (with my usage). That's 8 hours of just browsing on chrome using LTE, nothing else except a bit ( about 1 hour a day) of music playback using Google Play Music on LTE with the screen off. Also location is set on high and Bluetooth is on, and screen brightness between a quarter and half through out the day.
The Pixel XL should be able to accomplish at least that. I don't see why it shouldn't. The Pixel XL has 150mah less battery than the S7 Edge, so maybe a tiny bit less battery life would make sense. Another difference is the Snapdragon vs the Exynos. Either way, you're talking about Google's first phone, I hope they impress.
I'll have my hands on one this week, and I'll start posting all kinds of stuff regarding battery life. It what I'm most passionate about when it comes to smartphones. You'll get the real deal benchmarks and real usage tests when I'm through with it.

the XL has a pretty meaty battery unless something is off it should have good battery life. I was getting a day of normal use and ending on about 50% on my note 7 (dropped to about 45% if I forgot to put it on charge overnight) Note was 3500 and Pixel XL is 3450 so if google has made it properly it should have a strong battery life. (altho my Note was an Exynos chip and they generally use less power than SD)
It will have after EX puts out a kernel.

V30 and Pixel 2 XL excellent battery life - Could it be the display?

I've been reading great reviews on battery life for the Pixel 2 XL and that has got me wondering if the LG POLED screen may be to credit for the excellent battery life and screen on times?
Chris Chavez from Phandroid writes that he sees 5-6 hours of SoT on average (http://phandroid.com/2017/10/28/pixel-2-xl-battery-life-review/)
Joe Maring from Android Central talks about great battery life (https://www.androidcentral.com/pixel-2-xl-how-it-stacks-my-lofty-expectations)
Andrew Martonik from Android Central (https://www.androidcentral.com/google-pixel-2-review)
While I do strongly believe the display plays a huge role, I can't figure out why the display is so much more efficient on the V30 - I can consistently get over 7 hours of SoT on a 3300 mAh battery vs the Pixel 2 XL's 3520 mAh battery (and running Oreo). Thoughts?
Screen helps. Newest Snapdragon chip helps. I'm sure there is a ton of software and other hardware optimizations too. The manufacturers are kinda cornered into a certain size/format that the public is willing to accept for size for a phone. So until there's a massive revolution in battery tech, they'll have to squeeze optimizations everywhere else.

It's the display. Period
And Pixel 2 xl is less battery efficient while on the same time more smooth, fluid. It has way more actual governor that sets CPU to highest frequency when user interacts hence power drains faster. But there's no lags in Pixel 2 xl OTOH

I'll take this screen and its brilliant battery life even with its "imperfections". I don't notice any of the issues save for the blue tint, which doesn't bother me because I never look at my phone from that angle. Coming from an S7 edge, I was lucky to get 6 hours of SoT. On this phone, I'm regularly seeing 7+ even though it has a smaller battery.

Switching to Mi5s

Guys i have Nexus 5x that just bootlooped. Would you recommend me this phone as a substitute? Is camera in range with N5x?
Hi,
I will briefly say that I do recommend this phone.
I've been using this phone for 6 months and I really satisfied with its performance, camera (used Google camera HDR+ now which is much better than stock), Battery life is good enough and charging is fast.
For me the best part of this phone is its Performance, really powerful. I never get lag on every game I've tried so far.
I have used this phone for 2 weeks now.
Battery life is good, probably better than Nexus 5x.
Performance is great.
The camera with the ported Google camera HDR+ is very good but not on par with the best camera phones such as Google Pixel and Galaxy S7/S8. My guess is that the camera is more or less on par with Nexus 5x.
The only thing that annoys me is the unreliable fingerprint reader.
@flipp0 @firmanperdi
Thank you guys
I do have to say that battery life for most people is average at best, so don't expect the crazy goodness of other Xiaomi devices. Otherwise, a great phone. And yes, the camera mod is a must. Fingerprint reader isn't really a problem with my device.
If you do want a better battery life and don't mind a bigger device, also look at the Mi 5X. Performance is a bit less though, but unless you game a lot you shouldn't notice. Prices are roughly the same.

Have you tried forcedoze? Since I installed forcedoze battery life has been very good, not on the same level as Mi 5s Plus but still above average I would say.
I have not, but since I immediately close apps in the background, I doubt it will make a difference. But I will try it nonetheless.

Question How is your Pixel Experience/Plus battery usage?

I'm trying to flash Pixel Experience, but saw some peers said the insane battery usage
Anybody compared with Pixel Extended Rom, which is said better battery usage?
Had PE plus for about 10 days, yeah battery usage is more than normal
Currently on CRDroid, much better battery usage

That's why I confused, I saw two kinds of conflicted opinion on line
I have no issues in PE Plus regarding battery. A full charge lasts for one and half day, who is great for a workday.
Just wondering what do y'all think in terms of daily usage between aosp roms and miui/miui.eu?
Have the same issue. Battery goes down fast on my MI Note 2 (scorpio), lasts less then a day even when idle. Totally unusable as it is.

Question Pixel 6 Pro 5005 mAh vs. iPhone 13 Pro Max 4352 mAh

I'm trying to decide between these two and and battery life (SOT) will be the deciding factor for me. I've never owned an iPhone or a Pixel before so I'm not sure what to expect with the Pro's battery life while the Max has been getting universal accolades for its SOT. I've always been an android guy (galaxy notes mostly) and don't like apple (variety of reasons) but the new 13 pro max has set the standard when it comes to hardware with the best camera & video capabilities and now battery life so I'm reluctantly considering it.
I understand in some ways it's not fair to compare these two flagships considering their price difference so I don't expect the 6 pro to match the Max toe to toe with and that's ok. Since they both utilize an LTPO display though I guess it all comes down to software utilization when it comes to their SOT. On paper and looking at the battery specs- the 6 pro should wipe the floor with the Pro Max but since I've never owned a google phone I'm not sure how that'll translate in real life.
Past Pixel and future 6 Pro owners- what are your expectations when it comes to battery life/ SOT once you get your 6 Pros? Do you expect to come close to a full 2 days battery life before having to charge it? If anyone has owned/ will own both please feel free to share your your SOT experience and which one you feel is better.
In short will the Pixel 6 Pro match or even exceed the 13 Pro Max's battery life?
Thanks!

Gapps, by far, are the worst offender when it comes to battery life. With a little bit of effort and root, you can tame them to a significant degree. With some determination, you can replace them entirely with something that is more supportive of your freedom (I've *completely* replaced all goog with a self-hosted instance of Nextcloud and I don't install gapps -- not even microG).
But here is the thing about battery life. Its not even reasonable to measure it in ways its usually presented, because what it really comes down to is (a) usage, and (b) network connection. Screen on, but doing nothing, will use a lot less battery than screen on, and running video gamez.
As far as camera and video capabilities go... apple people will praise apple. Look for INDEPENDENT and CRITICAL reviews to get something more honest. I really doubt that they have anything on the P6's. Google's been ahead in photography for years now, and its really burning the fruit company since in the before-time, its the ONLY thing they actually had. Now they don't even have that.

Without really giving a crap, I'm going to guess that they are going to claim that its because the flash chips are in RAID-0 so won't be fast enough without the bigger (more chips) option.

I agree with most of what you said. Pixels have undoubtedly been the camera champs maybe equaled by more recent Huawei flagships. However there's no question that iPhones have had the best video quality of any one out there for a while now. This is all here and there and I don't really care that much anymore because the gap isn't that big unless you're an enthusiast or someone zooming or pixel peeping (which I'm not... for the most part }
I also agree with you about apps in general but you can nowadays put them in deep sleep so they barely use any in the background for the most part. I don't use a lot of apps but it's interesting since you bring up a good point as to whether ios does a better job than android when it comes to battery optimization. I'll have to do more research on that.
I think different companies like Motorolla, Realme and others have great battery optimization while the mainstream ones less so. Now Apple seems to have made a leap in this regard too. Gsmarena has a great tool to measure overall battery life and just look at this list where android phones (mostly not found stateside) dominate.
Previous Iphones weren't any good when it came to battery life. Apples forum is flooded with people complaining about battery life which is why they spent a lot of time talking about the improved battery life on the iPhone 13. My last iPhone was the iPhone X and it would only last me 6 hours of medium usage.

You're right but talking strictly flagship they've been incrementally improving since the 11 Pro Max. The 13 Pro Max has taken a drastic step forward even more so where I feel mainstream android in general (like Samsung) have to respond or they're going to lose potentially more people like me.
Anyways I see so far no one is predicting how the 6 pro's battery life will compare to the 13 max Pro.
I'll take a leap and say I think the tensor chip coupled with the LTPO display with google's clean android overlay will match the iphone 13 max's battery life

In this COVID day and age where everyone is staying home mostly- not so much. But once you start going outside more you'll need it. Especially if you're an outdoors person like me.
I'm still nostalgic for the days where i use to carry 1 or 2 extra batteries in my wallet and pop off the back to switch them out which literally took 5 seconds. There was a time during a camping trip back in the day when out in the middle of nowhere, everyone's phone died after the first day. Everyone used mine for the next few days. I got lucky when a certain gorgeous gal walked in my tent in the middle of the night to use it and decided to stay after.... aah those were the days
Sorry... friday afternoon and I just popped open my 4th beer

Wait, you can't be serious? The S21 ultra can't hold a candle to the 13 Pro Max and it's not even close. It might compared to the lesser iPhone 13 models but that's not a fair comparison by any sense of the imagination.
I almost went Iphone 13 pro max this gen. Almost. You know why I didn't? No fingerprint sensor. I'm not about to go back to entering my pin every time I want to open my device and masks make face recognition worthless.
Well, the pixel has a lot to live up to. I think it'll beat the iphone in pics. But battery life? I'm getting 2 hours screen on time every 10 percent battery used. Ridiculously good. I hope the pixel can get near that. Doubt it though
